The Westin Minneapolis boasts a prime downtown location that guests appreciate for its easy access to local attractions and transit. While the hotel's service receives commendation for being attentive and friendly, some visitors have noted occasional understaffing issues.
The atmosphere is celebrated for its classic charm and unique history as a former bank, offering a romantic and relaxed ambiance. However, opinions on room cleanliness and space are mixed, and a number of travelers question the value, pointing out high costs for amenities that don't always meet expectations.

This is a very impressive historic building, from the moment you step out, onto the sidewalk, looking at the building’s Art Deco facade. Walking into the lobby is quite dramatic. The chandeliers are spectacular, as well as Bank Restaurant’s original design (located in the lobby). There’s a beautiful art deco staircase just behind the front desk. The business center is quite nice and continues in the art deco design. Also there is the original bank vault, which is now a wine bar. All of these common areas in the hotel are spectacular and I’d recommend anyone to visit this hotel more than once to enjoy the ambience & have a drink or a meal here at Bank Restaurant, with it’s open kitchen. However, once you get into the elevator and head up to your guestroom, this is where the magic stops! Walking down the guestroom hallway, there was an ugly portable fan on the floor’s passageway to my room. I thought this was odd and I’ve never seen anything like it in any hotel throughout the world before! I walked into my room and the bed looked like the covers had just been thrown over it and the bed did not look well-made. I had hoped that no one had slept on these sheets already. They were clean sheets though. But, they didn’t look fresh because of the way the bed was made. This was a sloppy introduction to my guestroom! The guestroom has unattractive carpet that could easily camouflage stains. Wood floors are always so much nicer! There’s not enough electrical outlets for the TV, lamp, refrigerator and coffee maker to be plugged in all at once. So, in order to make coffee in the room, I had to crawl under the desk, unplug the lamp, careful not to unplug the TV and plug in the coffee pot to enable it to work. It would’ve been nice to have had the lamp available for the extra lighting while making my morning coffee. One of the best things about living in the 20th and 21st century is that you push a button and magically you have electrical services available and you don’t normally have to go through all of this effort of crawling under tables. Other electrical outlets are cemented into the nightstand, in an unsightly manner, and there are no USB ports whatsoever in the room. We are talking about luxury accommodations, right? The Westin wants to consider itself luxury. But, the rooms are not luxurious and there is no attention to detail here! There was a lot of dust on my nightstand lamp and I took a photo of it. I received one small bar of soap in the bathroom and no bath gel. While checking in, the front desk had absolutely no welcoming personalities. Two of them were attending the front desk and they were just going through the motions of checking all of us into our rooms. I was almost afraid to even ask them for a map of the city because they were so disinterested in us. I suggest you have dinner here or a cocktail at Bank restaurant. But, sleep in another location, especially if you’re looking for a romantic getaway.

Housed in a former bank the lobby is big and grand and features a nice bar. They have preserved the old vault and use it to display their fine wines. Being an old bank the rooms are a bit unique. Very tall ceilings reaching upwards of 14ft are one of the benefits, high windows that are hard to see out of are a minus. My room(#1125, 2 double beds) was clean and comfortable. Beds were soft and featured a pillow menu of 4 per bed of varying softness. Showers featured large raindrop shower heads which were a great touch. The location couldn't be much better, very close to all arenas and stadiums and a short stroll to the river walk. Parking was plentiful nearby and the delightful staff informed us of a garage that charges only $10 overnight. All Covid precautions were being followed and many of the normal amenities are not available yet. I wouldn't hesitate to return again.

I spent two weeks at this hotel for a work assignment and I can only say great things about the staff and the property. The general manager, Andy Aldrich, is top notch. He goes out of his way to be sure guests have what they need and are satisfied. He’s also humble and willing to do whatever is necessary (we saw him vacuuming the floor one day).
Chee Jien Too, who works at the front desk, was also incredibly helpful and friendly. She goes above and beyond to be sure guests are happy and have all they need.
*I have to mention that this hotel has a good sized pool and a nice workout room with a Peloton. There’s also a room or two with Pelotons in them but of course, they were booked when I arrived. I always work out when I travel so these things are important to me.*
I will definitely stay at this hotel again whenever I’m in Minneapolis—and hopefully next time I’ll get the room with a Peloton in it.

Our daughter got married at the courthouse down the street. We reserved a boardroom to host a small dinner for 10, and we all stayed at the hotel for the weekend. This hotel is beautiful, but the highlight is definitely the staff! They are helpful, kind and so accommodating! They served a delicious meal in a room prepared beautifully with a wonderful view of downtown. They were so cautious, making sure to follow all Covid guidelines with masking, social distancing, and using gloves. Our rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious. We slept great as it was so quiet too! Andy, the General Manager, was involved with all aspects of our stay, going above and beyond making sure he met all of our expectations. Chee at the front desk was also so helpful, and always with a kind word and a smile on her face. We will definitely return to The Westin when staying in downtown Minneapolis!

Poor service, bad communication and zero guest relations. Checked in yesterday and my room was not cleaned, it even had the previous guest clothes in the room. There was always used soiled toilet paper on the bathroom floor. I could forgive and forget that (just about) - but when I requested for my new room to be cleaned twice and change of towels - my requests were ignored altogether with no assistance or acknowledgement. When I went to the front desk to ask why my room wasn't serviced the lady literally looked blankly at her screen for over 5 mins and replied about with that "room service" was no longer available. Currently looking for another hotel that I could finish my 5 day stay in Minneapolis. Will never come or recommend this hotel. Staff have no interest in helping guests... strangelyball the staff with the exception on "one or two" are all literally working with angry, bored and dismissive faces. Not sure why people like this are front of house if they clearly have no interest Helping guests make their stay more enjoyable. Poor first experience of the Westin Minneapolis

I'm currently staying at the splendid Westin Minneapolis and needing an umbrella today for a wedding, I stopped by the front desk yesterday to reserve an Umbrella for today.
Natasha checked and sincerly apologized they were out of umbrellas. She brought in her personal umbrella from home this morning for me to use today, incredibly thoughtful of her and her caring has been emblematic of the staff for my stay here including Vi at the front desk, Abraham at the bar, and Urban, one of the hotel engineers.
Located in the 1941 Farmers and Mechanics Savings Bank building, the original banking room has been restored as the lobby and restaurant / lounge and the wine cellar in the bank vault! Beautiful period interiors.
This a beautiful hotel with a very professional and caring staff, and in a great location for visiting downtown Minneapolis. As an Ambassador level Bonvoy member, I highly recommend The Westin Minneapolis.

This hotel is an older bank in the heart of Minnesota - very convenient to get in and out of and connects through the Skyway to everything. Would recommend staying here if the price point is right.
Only drawbacks were the rooms sizes (particularly the annoyingly large bathroom door that made maneuvering around the bathroom awkward. A pocket door here would have been ideal).
Staff is very friendly - particularly the bartenders in the lobby bar.

This hotel is my go-to for business trips when in the area. Jessica at the front desk is amazing and truly listens to what I'm looking for then gives me great rooms! This most recent trip I had a room on the 8th floor which was a large suite with windows out into the city and a super comfortable bed. This hotel is also centrally located so it's close to all of the stores, the skywalk (or skyway), and office buildings.

I've stayed in different catagories of hotels and these comments are based on what i would expect to see at a higher end hotel. The building was beautiful inside and out. The staff were top of the line. Shabraya at the front desk and Nick at the bar were wonderfully helpful when it came to navigating the city and getting over a rough day of travel. Dissapointed that the restaurant was closed for renovations, did not see this on the Westin website when booking. The hotel is getting ready for reno and it needs it. The furniture while clean was tired looking. Saggy cushions, cracked vinyl. I stayed 5 nights and my room was not cleaned the last 3 nights. The continental breakfast was bagels, muffins, flavored bread, assorted granola bars and yogurt. Bedding was ok but not as fluffy as i would expect. 2 down comforters on the bed made the bedding rather heavy. Bathroom looked newer, very clean but only had hot water in the sink 1 night. nice rainflow shower head. plenty of fluffy towels to get me through the days with no room cleaning, No issues with noise.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us your feedback and for appreciating Shabraya and Nick. We are excited that the hotel will go through a remodel this year. Although we expected it to occur before spring this year, material supply delays have compelled us to push the entire program to November. This just gives us a little more time to fine tune our designs and look more closely at anything we may have missed from a guest comfort and experience perspective. In light of this we are planning on restarting our F&B operations around the 2nd week of Feb when we are able to get all our staff back from their vacations and travels. We are very sorry that you didn't get hot water consistently and for not cleaning your room more often than the one time. We thank you for your business and we hope that you will give us another opportunity to make it right for you. Sincerely

Roughly 20 minutes from airport but literally a few steps from the rail line with a stop directly at the airport. The hotel is centrally located in downtown. The rooms were clean but a bit dated, however the heavenly bed never disappoints and the rain shower made all the difference. There weren’t many charging outlets in the room, room service was temporarily unavailable, and there was a refrigerator in the room. Tip: if you want housekeeping you must request 24 hrs in advance.
