Nestled close to the beach and surrounded by attractions, Tropical Beach Resorts in Sarasota receives accolades for its prime location and the cleanliness of its rooms and grounds. While the staff's friendliness often earns praise, there have been occasional mentions of less-than-stellar service. Guests are fond of the charming atmosphere and appreciate the array of amenities, though the additional costs for beach equipment and the perceived value for money have drawn some criticism. Room comfort is generally appreciated, yet some guests suggest updates and better lighting options.

Very nice grounds a short walk (2 minutes) from the white sandy Siesta Key beach. Two medium-small pools. The hotel was a bit crowded for my taste, and also the beach was pretty packed. Not the best feeling during a pandemic, but that's not a reflection on the hotel.

The truth is this is a bonified motel trying to pass as resort. There were no real amenities to justify a $15/day additional charge, however, the grounds are smartly designed, the rooms kept in good condition, staff is friendly, and the location is quite good.

The room was a good size, not huge, but not tiny. There was a very small "porch" area with a bistro table and chairs that barely fit, but we did manage to use for breakfast. There are individual AC units that are modern and not loud, that was a big plus. Kitchens are designed to maximize space, decently equiped and the appliances are nice and pretty new. Bathroom was functional and clean.

Location: walk to the beach, drive everywhere else. You would have to drive to find a larger choice of restaurants and shops either to Sarasota downtown or to Siesta Key downtown. Around the motel there are a handful of restaurants but nothing to rave about.

The hotel is at the very tip of the beach strip, with a "private" beach section that is packed with beach umbrellas and loungers (and tourists) for a fee. You'd have to walk half a mile up to avoid the crowds and find a spot that is less congested.

They rent bikes on site, though I was expecting them to be free, since they do have a resort fee of $15/day. (Several FL beach motels of lower quality offer free bikes, beach chairs and beach/pool towels for free, plus apperitive drinks or cookies, too, so I still don't think Tropical should be charging $15 for the same.)

CORONAVIRUS: The hotel staff was wearing masks at all times. The hotel guests not so much. At first sight, the rooms seemed clean, however, I did see several spots with sand in the bedframe, the blinds were also a bit dusty, and I did my own desinfecting of the whole room and bathroom before comfortably installing ourselves into the room.

All in all, a fair value, but I would probably try a location closer to Siesta Key downtown next time.

I was initially drawn to this resort for the cheap price and proximity to the beach. I saw from photos that the rooms were small and figured they’d be pretty cheesy inside (think 60s motel style) but was pleasantly surprised to see that they were very well kept and updated! Especially the showers those were awesome. Everything was clean too which was a huge concern for me during this pandemic. I saw that a few people complained in their review about the walk to the beach being long - maybe if you’re disabled, elderly etc but for the average person it’s an easy walk down a path, maybe three minutes at a leisurely pace. I liked the ease of booking lounge chairs right on the beach, the guy working there was super friendly. You could always grab chairs from the resort (free I think?) but I prefer loungers so it was worth the money. We also rented bikes on the property which was great for exploring down to turtle beach. Location was great, there are some good places to eat nearby and Siesta Key Village is just a Frog Hop or Trolley ride away (look these up - don’t bother with uber!) Lastly I have to really compliment the front desk ladies, then we’re so friendly, attentive and helpful with all of my questions. They’re the glue holding everything together - definitely make sure to book direct with them ;)

Bottom line is sure you could find an upscale luxury resort somewhere closer to “the action” on the northern end of the island but if you want a reasonably priced, chill, clean and friendly resort with a great private beach and tons of awesome amenities this is your spot! Do it you won’t regret it.

We have come to this property for several years in the past. It has always been a great
location on Siesta Key with beach access and amenities within walking distance. The suite has everything one needs for a week long visit. The shower is strong and comfortable. The beds are comfy and we love having so many extra pillows. This year we liked the property less than in previous years because the location of our room was quite noisy. We were near where all the cleaning carts were stored. There must have been a washer or dryer nearby, but it sounded as though a helicopter was landing outside our room each morning. When we go on vacation, it is pleasurable to sleep in. We couldn’t because the cleaning carts seemed to wake us up at 7:30 am each day as well as the “helicopter sound”. If we return to the property again, we would ask to not be in this same location.

Returning guests pay us the highest compliment, so thank you for choosing us each time you're in Siesta Key. It is such a joy to learn that our strategic location allowed you to enjoy the beach and all the town has to offer. We are glad that your fun-filled day, our cozy accommodations, and efficient in-room amenities offered you the comfort you deserve. However, we are sorry to hear that we didn't match your previous expectations during your recent stay because of the unwanted noise. We are always looking for ways to improve our guest experience, as your satisfaction is very important to us. We hope you will continue to choose Tropical Beach Resorts for your lodging needs in the future.

Pre-arrival: Email confirmations and positive phone experience. Was accommodating and made changes in reservation easy.

Staff: Some of the staff at the desk could use some hospitality training on making guests feel welcome upon arrival. Guests are on vacation and asking how the stay was and if anything could be done to improve it upon departure would be helpful information for the resort.

Room: I'd really like to give it a better rating because despite the bad sheets the room was very nice, but it is difficult when sleeping is the biggest part of ones stay in a hotel. When we arrived, the room appeared perfect and seemed to meet our needs equally as well. Once we opened the bed, we knew there could be issues. After we removed the foam blanket (yes, one of those icky blankets that don't breath and stick to your fingers), we thought we would be ok, until we crawled under the covers...the sheets didn't breath either and were not fitting securely over the corners of the bed. During the night they slipped off and wrinkled under our sweaty bodies. Normally, I refuse room service because making my bed and reusing towels is sustainable and I have no problem with that, but this bed needed more than making. The new sheets weren’t any better because they were the same quality and fit of sheet. I would recommend bringing your own sheets because the mattress is comfortable enough, but the sheets were cheap.

Property: The location was wonderful – walking distance to the beach and renting bikes was a blast. The grounds were well kept and the pool clean and of a nice temperature. Grills would be nice to save on eating out, especially since the rooms are well stocked.

Dear Melissa, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I appreciate your comments and will certainly share them with our staff. I was happy to read that you found the room very nice but I apologize that you did not enjoy the bedding materials that were provided. We triple sheet with a duvet insert and cover but do also include a blanket. Perhaps we can look into keeping the blanket in the closet and not including it in the bed. Guests love our location and I am glad that you did as well. It was nice to see that the grounds and pool also met your expectations. We do have 6 grills located on the grounds throughout the property and they are used quite often by many of our guests. Again, thank you fro taking the time to review our hotel and I hope you will consider staying with us in the future should your travels bring you back to the Siesta Key area. Best Regards, Bill Jones General Manager

We had the smallest room. It was recently updated and was very nice. The bathroom was in great shape with a new tub length shower. The bed was comfortable. They have two heated pools that were nice for a swim. No shock from the water temperature. The thing we liked the most was the short walk to Crescent beach. This is the southern edge of the beach and is not as populated as Siesta Beach. We also enjoyed walking across the road to restaurants and getting a ice cream desert.
The only thing we wished the room had was a chair to sit and watch TV. We had to sit in bed which gets uncomfortable after time. Also, the small table and chairs were elevated. It would be better if the table were shorter.
The price is very high when compared to a hotel but it appears to be in line for this area with beach access. The room towels were changed daily but we were disappointed that the bed sheets were not changed during the week that we stayed there.

Love the Tropical Beach Resorts. This is my 14th stay at this resort and I love coming here. The walk across the lot the beach is so convenient. The pool was so nice and warm. The room had all I needed and the mini kitchenette saved a ton of money on not having to eat out. I shop at the Publix supermarket nearby and then have food for the week. Supplement along the way. 3 miles from the Siesta Village which as shoe and restaurants. Trolly picks up right out front. Bike rentals available as is beach chairs and umbrellas. Walking distance to the 7-11 convenience store, restaurants, drug store, shops, and bars. I like the setup of the property because I can walk around the block and feel safe and have a beautiful atmosphere. The BBQ is my favorite amenity and I grilled out everyday.
Park right out front of the room. There is no "riff raff" in this area so it is one of the few places left where you can not only feel safe but you are safe. In other words it is not a false sense of security, the area really is safe. I never see any dredges of society in this immediate location and the clientele is the civilized type. I didn't want to leave so the staff was able to set me up for an additional 2 nights. Although this resort can be expensive you def get comfort and the amenities are also pretty good. I did use the free beach chair to watch the sunset and walked to the beach all the time. I did use the laundry machines and that was pretty good. I fly into Tampa Airport and drive 1 hr 15 min which is an easy drive. I have flown into Sarasota airport and also bradenton depending airfare. BUT
for the first time I would say the bed was not so comfortable nor were the pillows. The shower door had some mold and the shower didn't feel as clean. There was some dust and wrappers under the dresser and couch so I don't think the cleaning is as thorough as I recall in the past. The rates are also getting pretty steep so it might reach a point where I won't be able to afford this location and will have to look elsewhere. Looking forward to my next stay here.

Russell, I want to thank you for your business and for taking the time to leave us a review after your recent stay on Siesta Key. We appreciate all feedback and I was happy to see that we had all the you needed for an enjoyable stay. Guest love the BBQ grills we have throughout the property, although I will say, I walk around and get hungry as I'm smelling all of the wonderful food guests prepare! I will make sure that our housekeeping staff is aware of your comments as well, not the norm for sure and we need to get on top of whatever the issue was during your stay. Return guests are a key part of what we do so do not hesitate to ask us for the returning guest discount when booking direct! Loved the powdery white sand of the nearby Siesta Key beach (though the water was a bit cold and the water visibility was only a few inches deep during our 3 days in February.) Loved the heated pool and the nearby restaurants and bars. The service was very friendly. They offer free beach chairs and a private beach, though umbrellas and lounge chairs are extra.
The rooms are quite expensive, but you cant beat the location and amenities
The "Tropical Beach Resorts" seems to be a conglomeration of cute little single story motels, with nice plantings and trees, grills, and a shuffleboard court. Our room was very clean and comfortable though only had a tiny window with a view of a fence.

First, we absolutely love Siesta Key Beach. My wife and I did a 5 mile walk after breakfast on each of the 14 days we were there. The walkable part of the beach before you reach the end of the sand is exactly 3 miles long. Tropical Beach Resorts is located at the southern end of this particular sandy beach at what is called Point of Rocks. The beach is narrowest here but that is good because you can get into the ocean that much faster! The sand is unbelievably white and soft like flour but is dense and firmly pans down. It's the only beach I've seen where anyone can easily ride bikes. We never missed a gorgeous sunset while we were there since the beach at this resort faces directly West. One tip: don't leave the beach right after the sun sets like most people do but wait another 20 minutes to see all the beautiful yellow, orange and red hues in the sky.

As everyone says, the office staff is the best! Most of the time, two women are in their office who are always friendly, upbeat, and helpful. I give a particular shout out to Lynn who was fantastic and gave us lots of suggestions for things to do and places to eat. The service was so good that on one occasion when I called took report that the water was draining slowly from our shower I was told someone will be right over to fix it and that's exactly what happened!

We rented a King Efficiency which had a full kitchenette and a fold out sofa with a dining table and 4 chairs. We did zero cooking there and instead ate all of our meals out just to make it more enjoyable. Why work when on your vacation? Most of our meals and all of our breakfasts were eaten at one of the four restaurants right across the street. That's what I call convenient! The rest we ate in nearby Siesta Key Village.

The office has a selection of free DVD's to watch and even will give you microwaveable popcorn. They keep a jar full of Oreo type cookies and a bowl of candy and mini Tootsie Pops. They always have freshly brewed coffee of three types and a spring water cooler which we appreciated after our morning walks. Chairs and beach towels are also free. If you want a lounge chair and umbrella, then you have took rent them at the beach. I understand it's $22 a day or $15 for half a day for the umbrella and 2 lounge chairs.

The grounds are stunning because of all the lush vegetation and well kept paths. There are grounds people running around all day to keep the place absolutely clean. In the late afternoon, my wife and I shared a bottle of wine under one of their gazebos where they also provide grills.

If I had one minor complaint, it was that the furniture in the room was getting a little worn looking but the pillow top mattress was comfortable and the maids did a good job cleaning every day.

We were so sorry to leave but are excited about going back next year to this beautiful and exceptionally well run establishment on the Number 1 beach in the US!

Top score for cleanliness. Good coffee in room . Would have preferred bath towels of higher quality. Red tide and rain were disappointing and put a damper on some activities. Rain and clouds hid the beautiful sunsets which Siesta Key is famous for . A door mat inside the room entry would be nice to remove any remaining sand . Did not find outdoor hose area to wash sand off before returning to room. If you plan to walk from the hotel to the drum circle at the public beach allow a minimum of one hour for the walk. The front desk staff suggested we make the "15 minute" walk because parking might be full. I typically walk a 15-20 minute mile and we were still walking well past an hour to reach the drum circle. While there was quite a crowd, there appeared to be available parking. We enjoyed mojo rising coffee and Bonjour cafe for breakfast in Siesta Key village. The Big Water fish market across the street offered - delicious fresh fish meals , lobster roll fantastic at a great price , casual atmosphere

We certainly appreciate your business and I was happy to see that you enjoyed your time here with us. There must have been some miscommunication regarding the time frame it takes to get to the public beach as the complimentary Trolley takes roughly 15-20 minutes to get there and I apologize for any confusion. Yes, when red tide conditions are present, it does restrict beach activities and couple that with the rain and you can't enjoy one of the 2 pools that are on the property. I was happy to see that you took advantage of our location to visit a couple of the eateries in the area, Big Water-Fish Market has amazing fresh fish dishes. We do hope that you will consider staying with us again should your travels bring you back to the Siesta Key area. Best Regards, Bill Jones General Manager

Great location, within walking distance to the beach. The rooms were clean. The front desk staff was very nice. They did specify that clean towels would be left outside the room daily if you decided to put your “do not disturb “ sign up however that did not happen. Our only complaint is that they should specify on their web site that the beach chairs and umbrellas are now for rent and their “ private beach” is an ackward section at the end of the beach that is wall to wall people. If you bring your own chairs you must walk to the public section which is a bit of a way down the beach.
