As a local Florida Resident, I decided to take a much needed mini-vacation and stayed at the Gulfview Hotel who had some vacancies. Trip Advisor quoted a price of $130 for Friday night and a bit more for Saturday, but when I arrived at the Hotel, the woman at the front desk wanted to charge me $200 for Friday and more for Saturday, but when I pointed out the Trip Advisor price we compromised for both nights. My room was on the 3rd floor and faced a parking garage, but at least it was quiet. Since this Hotel has a jacuzzi I wanted to make use of it, but unfortunately some small children assumed it was a kiddie pool and were using it, even though a sign is posted. I do not have children or pets, therefore did not want to deal with someone's else's children or pets, so notified the Front Desk of this problem. They did nothing, but the children left so I was then able to use that amenity. This is a great hotel in general with its own beach, even if there were a few drawbacks, as the people staying at a Hotel can make or break it. I therefore do recommend it.

Upon checking in an hour early, we were assigned a room. After lugging all our luggage to the 3rd floor on the ONE delapadated elevator, we found the door to the room open and the beds stripped. I called the desk and was told “oops, come back to get a new room” no apology from blonde haired lady at the front desk. She just said she can’t see well without her glasses. Ok so now In room 343. Very basic, run down room but clean. Got unpacked and put on swimsuits and went to the pool. The private beach is fantastic, and this is the one plus, sunsets are amazing too. The pool, however is very very small and dated, the hot tub does not get hot.You must pay to rent chairs on the beach. The front desk lady could not answer a single question about renting chairs because they are not affiliated with the hotel. This hotel offers zero amenities, no food, no drinks no room service and NO housekeeping. Due to covid they are NOT cleaning rooms. Leave your trash outside your door and they will pick it up. Good luck getting towels because they never seem to have any large ones. The air is loud and the room is musty. You are given bracelets for pool and beach but no one checks. The location of the hotel itself is great, and walking distance to food and shops. We saw Dolphins swimming every day of our trip from the beach. This was amazing.
The jolly trolley stop is across the street and will talk you down the strip and I believe it’s free. Taco Bus is a great place to eat and I do not recommend the putt putt golf unless you have a few hours. It’s 19 holes and takes forever. I would also recommend you consider increasing your budget and stay at a better hotel.

The hotel needs a major renovation. Rooms are smelly and damp. Everything in the room needed updating. The small kitchen is a joke. Shower is old, cheap towels, window air conditioning unit which was loud. Now, it is cheap so I guess you pay for what you get. The only good thing is that it is on the beach. But I would pay more money for another hotel. The front desk staff was nice and friendly and that’s pretty much why I gave it 3 stars.

It is walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Mini golf is across the street. The hotel next door (shepards) does play live loud music every night so don’t get a room on that side facing them. This was more like a motel.

I was quite nervous staying here because of the negative reviews and was ready to move to a different hotel if it all goes wrong, fortunately, we didn't have to do that! The location was great, it has it's own private beach and a mini pool ( we didn't really come to clearwater for the pool, if we did, we would have gone to a chained corporate hotel). The Pool is clean as well, check-in was straighforward, we were a little early but they accomodated us, the lobby is well lit, the elavator was not slow as I read in the reviews, people just like to complain I guess, they have 1 elevator which would make sense since they have a small place but would not hurt to add one. The room that we had was nice, it was clean, great smell, we both loved our room, there was no bad smell like I thought there would be especially if you turn that AC on. They have mini shampoos and conditioner, they have a working fridge that actually works and you can ajust the temp, they have microwave, stove, utensils, dishwasher, a nice size TV, iron, hair dryer, they have everything considering for the price you pay, not a bad deal at all, I was a little worried about the sphereds beach being too aggressive at their music playing until 1 am or So. but it wasn't that bad( yes, we were facing the shephered's view + beach, which was beautiful) just turn on the AC, we both have no trouble sleeping, but be aware of shephered's. They do housekeeping per request. No breakfast, but the location of this hotel is amazing, walking distance to restaurants, near to convienience store and some botique. I love that it's near to Sandkey, we walked over there too! Wifi could a little bit tricky especially if you are at the corners. Great Stay, Really Great price!
My suggestion would be, to add a two bottles of water per room and they can charge the guest if they want to drink the water ( just put tags on it), because that would be convenient( we have been drinking bottles of water, not a fan of florida tap water, there is a funny taste to it, even in the restaurants) and maybe change the hallway lights, for more nicer aesthetic look, put extra mat or change it to a longer one in the ground elevator entrance because I feel like its a little too short, can be quite a little dangerous if you are wearing slippers, I notice that area tends to collect a puddle of water on the right side are that the wasn't covered by a mat. Lastly, maybe have an additional filter in the hallways.

Arrived at the hotel room to find orthodontic bands in the carpet and balcony where it had not been cleaned properly. The sliding balcony door would not lock which is a problem with small children. You have to request your room be cleaned and when we asked for fresh towels, they made us walk to back up to the room and turn in the dirty ones before we got fresh ones. We also had to ask for trash bags and change our own garbage. Due to poor housekeeping, other guests would have to lay their trash in the hall.

I stayed on this hotel on Room 454 for two nights on the weekend of July 25-27. I paid for a non-smoking gulf view room. When we got to the room, the room got a bad smell to tobacco that only got worst overnight. I went to the front desk and informed the front desk clerk, but she could only offer to move us to a different room no gulf view. I asked her to come to the room and verify by herself, but she said she couldn't. She said that they asked guests not to smoke in the room but they can't control if guests don't closed balcony door. Changing rooms for just one night was a big inconvenience. I spoke to the hotel Manager the next day when I was checking out and requested some sort of credit, and the Manager said she 'would look into it'. As of today, I have not received any credit. The carpeting baseboards of this room are lose and the carpet needs to be replaced; it's worn out. I will not stay in this Hotel again. They do not honor the 'Non Smoking' Policy and do not credit for it either.

This hotel had so much potential great location and private beach.. i don’t need a fancy hotel by no means but with that being said not being clean Is another story… the carpets were filthy.. the smell of room will hit you hard…. The lady who is there in the morning is very shady and very unprofessional… who ever owns that is def just there to make money and def don’t care about their guest…. My advice is to pay a little extra with surrounding hotels you will not be disappointed very clean and professional staff…

Now we know why the price is cheap!! There are few good things. First the location to everything is awesome!!!!!!! The beach is well cared for and the pool and hot tub are really nice. However, there are no chairs to rent or take to the beach or towels either. Your can go to the beach next door to get those but you have to stay on that beach. The bar next door is really nice and has good food and drinks!!!! You can bring those over but again, no place to sit. The pool has a rail around it but I am worried that a good gust of wind will take it down, do not lean on it.

Inside the hotel the smell of marijuana is almost unbearable. Now we know why the doors were all propped open when we got there. The inside is in major need of upgrading. The luggage carts are all different and they, along with the ice.machine, all have names with laminated signs attached to them telling to be careful with the "staff" as they are overworked. And FYI, do not try and fill your yeti cup with ice, apparently that is considered a cooler and that is not allowed.

Inside the room I thought I took a trip back to the 70's. The thick green curtains were something from a museum. The shower rod was very loose and almost falling off. The fan in the bathroom barely worked. The light fixtures were from the same era as the curtains. Our room had a small sink with a two burner stove on it, we didn't try it. There was a small fridge under it and then directly across from this was another small fridge. The outdoor balcony was nice but the music from the hotel 2 places away kept us up til 1am. The electrical outlets will not keep anything in as they are so loose the charger for my cell phone kept falling out.

There is a sign at the desk that says they don't do daily room cleaning and I am not sure if it is weekly either. You are to place your trash in bags out in the hall and someone will get it later. There are two washers and dryers but no laundry detergent.

Overall, glad we only stayed one night but next time I will pay more and go somewhere else.

I do wish that you had asked at the front desk about your concerns. We explained at check-in about housekeeping, the beach etc. Housekeeping is available upon request. Pool towels are available at the front desk. Most people appreciate our luggage cart names and doors were open for fresh air. I find it very unlikely that someone said anything about you filling a Yeti cup. More likely that someone helped you with it, so ice did not spill on to the floor. Perhaps if you had expressed your concerns while you were here, we could have addressed them.

We had a pleasant experience from the beginning (Feb 21-25, a mini trip to take a break from MN winter). They were able to check us in early without any trouble. The girl at the front desk,Cheyenne, was very helpful, friendly and easy to talk to. We got to our room and were blown away by the view! We were on the 4th floor (room 444) and watched the sunset from our balcony while listening to the reggae band next door. The rooms are smaller but clean and comfy.
The little private beach was absolutely perfect and not crowded like the main beach. We walked everywhere as everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. We did take the Trolley over to Sand Key. The trolley is a great option for those that have trouble walking.
The only downfall with this trip is that it was too short, I would have loved to stay longer.
I would highly recommend this place for those looking for a beach hotel for a budget!
P.S. The other girl at the desk is amazing as well...I cant remember her name but I remember she's from Georgia.

Anyone who rates this hotel bad needs to pay the price for the upscale they want. For the price this hotel was perfect. It was right on a private beach, it was clean, you had coffee in mornings , microwave, fridge, a pool ,hot tub.. the front desk staff was super nice! Sorry the blonde I spoke to each day I forget your name but you were so nice to my husband and I. We are from PA from the time we parked and entered she was nothing but helpful. We looked at so many hotels on our walks and ventures through the week and were so glad we got this location. ...And it is way better location than the Pelican and so many others. Again aside from the very expensive hotels on the beach this was one of the best! We saw not one bug either, not ever and we had plenty of food with us and on the table all week but remember it is Florida you may see a bug! Yes the hotel is not new and modern but it also is not 300+++ a night with a resort and parking fee. Sitting on balcony and enjoying Shepards bands was a bonus, we even went over one night and danced. If you need sleep early leave TV , on loud. If we come back to Clear water this is the hotel we would book with a Gulf View. Location! Price! Staff! Clean! No complaints at all! Best wishes to this hotel and staff as you deal with the Pandemic issue.

No breakfast; however there is a grocery store across the street where you can get eggs and bread and use the pans and toaster in your room to make your own breakfast. There's also an IHOP a few minute walk away.
