Nestled in a prime spot, Hotel Colorado garners praise for its accessibility to the town and nearby attractions, with travelers enjoying both its historic allure and proximity to dining and the hot springs. While the hotel's cleanliness and festive atmosphere receive commendable mentions, some guests have raised concerns over inconsistent housekeeping and outdated aspects of the facilities. Opinions on value and room quality show a divide, yet the warm, attentive service provided by the staff often enhances the guest experience, despite occasional service hiccups.

Stayed in this historic gem as part of Trafalgar Tour of Colorado. Learned that super wide hallways were created so that 2 women with hoop skirts could walk side by side down the hall “in the day.” Hotel undergoing renovations, but still lovely if you appreciate its history. Great food in hotel restaurant, including one of best pizzas we ever had. Need a few minutes for hot water to “arrive,” but to stay in this place, filled with history and charm, is priceless.

I love Hotel Colorado. For nearly 40 years it has been a place to celebrate various family holidays, etc. The pandemic has been brutal to the leisure travel and lodging industry, however, certain standards should always be maintained. The mark of good leadership is understanding staffing levels. To G. M. Christian Henny I say...” Step It Up!!!” Without your excellent employee Lorena in the restaurant I would not be able to recommend your F&B operation. The food, however, is very good, compliments to Chef. You were woefully understaffed ALL of Monday 2/15. We tried to make a dinner reservation, girl just couldn’t do it. Went for dinner...no dice. Hamburger joint across the bridge The Grind was excellent. Breakfast, as it always is when Lorena is there was wonderful. I would give this wonderful lady a raise!

We stayed 3 nights at Christmas and this is our 5th year to stay during the holidays. The hotel is undergoing improvements and the improvements are very nice and still maintain the old wonderful appearance. We stayed in an ambassador suite and it was very comfortable and fresh with new carpet and paint. They rearranged the sitting area and the sleeping area. The new arrangement was very nice. We noticed a few things needed, a heater for the bedroom and a fridge and microwave which had not been placed back after the new carpet. Chris, aka “steam” resolved that little problem and was so kind and a great conversation. Chris is very enthusiastic and loves the hotel and looks for things to improve for the guests.
Angel greeted us at the front desk and took care of all our needs, including chasing off some non guests that were roaming the halls and going thru the drawers of the antique furniture in our hallway. She is energetic and knows her stuff!!
My only criticism is the “room service”. We ordered breakfast and it was delivered in a “to go bag”! Not at all what I expected for room service! At the level of room that we paid for,I expected the food to be on plates and real silverware and drinking glasses not plastic cups. The clamshell boxes were good and held the flavor of the food and the food was really good, but I expected better from the kitchen. The food was literally in a bag with handles as if we were grabbing it to go! We stayed during the Covid season and fully understood why they had to do this back then, but I would hope that “real room service”would be restored by now.
This place will continue to improve as the new leaders guide the renewal of the grand old dame and we look forward to seeing its progress

Beautiful Architecture in the pics, but that is about it. The facilities are in serious need of updating. The check in begins with the Desk staff advising that in the heat if you are running the AC, please turn it off while you use a hair dryer. The residential A/c units in the window was noisy. there was a note in the room which explained that the hot water has a long way to go and it may take up to 7 minutes to get hot water to your room.

No coffee/tea service what so ever. not in the room, not in the lobby.

Dining was average 2 dinners 1 appetizer and 2 cocktails each, was about $200, with a medium rare steak cooked to a perfect medium well. Cocktails weak.

Young service staff worked hard and were attentive.

I love historic properties. when renovated properly it is an wonderful experience worth every penny. That was not my experience at the Hotel Colorado. I hope someone finds the capital and time to truly do this treasure justice.

I Love this historic beautiful old hotel! I’ve been staying since I was a child in the 1960’s. I took my three grandchildren just a few days ago. It was dressed to the nines for Christmas and looked more beautiful than at any other time I’ve stayed.
We were provided a two room suite , meaning two rooms with double queens and a Jack and Jill bath in between. Great room for families and rather rare to find even in a modern hotel.
Love the tall ceilings and the history of it all, the room lay-out was perfect for us, since each child had their own bed and with the bath to separate us, they all got the sleep they needed until the alarm went off at the last guest’s scheduled time. The people above was tearing around their room all night and I swear they were moving furniture! It was so bad I called the from desk- and I had three kids!
The bathroom was a tight space, with old fixtures that I doubt ever look clean and the carpet is old and rough. But now I can say “I slept in Doc Holidy’s bed!” Truly the mattress is that old. The kind where you get in and roll to the center and stay in there. Worst mattress in a long time.
I wish housekeeping at every hotel would check the alarm clocks when cleaning so that the next guests are not awakened to the last guests schedule.

We have been coming to Hotel Colorado for years and always look forward to the breakfasts and seeing Lorena. She is always ready with a big welcoming smile, remembering us from the previous year's visit and goes above and beyond with attention to detail. Specifically, she remembers how we like our coffee, what we order and special requests. It is refreshing to be treated like royalty!

We love staying in this historic hotel despite being somewhat dated but that is the charm. It was nice to have the individual air conditioning units installed. It is also nice to see Carol, another familiar face at the front desk. Her service is also excellent and also goes the extra mile to accommodate our needs.

We were so excited to stay at the famous and "classy," Hotel Colorado, only to find out it is a run-down, flot joint. One would think that by staying in their "penthouse" room, one would receive a VIP treatment, but this was not the case at all. The front desk was subpar at best, they did not explain all amenities, nor offer any type of help with our bags. Then there was the parking issue. If a guest likes to explore the beautiful town of Glenwood or even hit the slopes at Snowmass for an entire day, returning in the evening, the the guest will run the risk of not finding parking in the "guest" parking areas, because they do not enforce the parking rules, leaving visitors to park in "guest" spot, and forcing one to parking BLOCKS away, risking slippage and creating a great inconvenience. Then to come to a room that is too cold, with carpet that looks like hasn't been changed since 1980 something, lukewarm water at best, cracks and dirt on the ceilings, pealing wall paper, and broken window blinds to name just a few of the items that are low grade, low class, dirty, and low quality. Again, nothing expected by a guest purchasing one of the more high end rooms. The only things that made the stay tolerable was the house keeping and the restaurant staff.

Dear Alejandro P, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and for providing us with the opportunity to improve. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay, and your comments have been passed along to the appropriate departments to be used as a vehicle for improvement. We are more than happy to assist with luggage when requested, and apologize if we were not available to do so during your stay. As a small, mountain town, we have limited parking and are working on a long term solution. In the meantime, we do not charge guests for parking and are happy to address concerns of unregistered vehicles when they are reported to us. We are lucky to have new owners who care deeply about preserving the history of our property and are in the process of beginning renovations to our rooms, which will address those concerns you mentioned. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your valuable comments to us, and we would be grateful to host you again in the future so that we may make things right.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Colorado during a long weekend after taking the train from Denver. This is a historic hotel and so the fixtures and decor are classic down to the old radiators in the rooms. We called in advance and were given great recommendations on area restaurants. It is right across the street from the large Glenwood Hot Springs pools, a short walk to Yampah Spa, and there is a really nice pedestrian bridge that takes you into downtown (maybe 1/2 mile from the hotel) and so the location is fantastic especially because we didn’t rent a car. The hotel does not have air conditioning (note for summer travelers) or a gym - but it does have a restaurant and coffee shop onsite. There is also a nice courtyard area with fire pits that many people took advantage of in the evenings. The best thing about the hotel is the employees, they were incredibly nice at both check in and check out (Thank You Monica!) and the shuttle driver (I didn’t catch his name) was very knowledgeable about the area. We heard that the hotel haunted but luckily didn’t see any ghosts.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the fact that the TVs (which we didn't watch) were hidden away in cabinets and didn't interfere with the room's antique vibe. We enjoyed the old water-filled radiators. Despite their occasional hissing sounds, they were quick to warm the room and added some moisture to the dry Colorado winter air. It was quite cold when we visited: in the low 20s during the day and single digits at night, yet we were comfortable in the room.

Loved the unique Colorado history associated with the hotel and all the photographs of President Teddy Roosevelt and his visits to the hotel.

We were most interested in visiting the famous hot springs in Glenwood. The Hotel Colorado is across the street from the Glenwood Hot Springs and admission is not included, but you can get a package deal through the hotel, or you can buy a day pass at the Hot Springs. You get a 10% discount to Iron Mountain Hot Springs through the hotel, but you have to book it online.

Enjoyed some great barley wine and bison burgers at Glenwood Canyon Brewpub a short walk from the hotel.

The good -
Really neat history of this hotel that can be viewed and read up on throughout the many framed pictures in the lobby. Awesome, large lobby and hallways for the guest rooms. Beds are comfortable. Ate dinner and breakfast in the Hotel Restaurant. Service was excellent and food was very good with large portions. Steak was not worth it as it was very bland but all other meals - salads, chicken sandwich, burger, and breakfast were very good.

The bad -
We had a adjoining room with shared bathroom in the middle for a family of five with youngest being 17. Got to the rooms with three room keys which all worked in both doors. Went to dinner and came back to none of the room keys working. Trekked back down to the front desk to get three rebadged keys. Still didn't work.
Came back down to get another new key and returned to maintenance letting family in the room so had to go back to front desk and they still had no clue. Maintenance guy standing right there but nobody seemed too concerned we couldn't get in our rooms without the staff having to open the doors for us. They finally gave us one key to be used by the five of us and only worked in one door.

The ceiling fans were great and much needed as the AC is undersized and blocked by the drapes. So either leave drapes open and have sunlight in early in the morning or close and get little cold air blowing into the room. Ten minutes into watching TV late in the evening, the TV just went to a gray screen and wouldn't work again. Swapped it out with one in the next room but bad one still wouldn't work after moving to the over room. Not the worst thing in the world but when you pay this much for a room, you'd like to think you wouldn't have this many little things go wrong for one night stay. It's a shame because I'd much rather stay in a neat historic hotel like this but not at these rates and these inconveniences.
