UPDATE: I'm updating my review after speaking with Michael Provenzano, the Director of Front Office. How he handled this situation and our stay was MORE than gracious. He did not request I update this, I feel obligated to. He took my feedback seriously and has addressed it with the staff. He also let me know they are renovating and generously offered us to come back post-renovation (later this year) to re-do our experience. This was ABOVE & BEYOND any hotel I've stayed at and I cannot express enough gratitude when most do not care, it means a lot that he took the time to rectify our situation. We can't wait to see the post-renovation historic Hotel Colorado! Thank you, Michael!
Original Review: Let me start by saying, everyone, we encountered at the hotel was nice. Was booked into 328 (maybe 326) rooms first. Was supposed to be 2 kings, was 1-king and 1-queen. TV in king room did not work. Having a balcony was cute, except there were giant gaps to the outside underneath the door. There's historic and then there's not keeping items in working order. Ended up getting a mouse in the room on the first night as well as a whole colony of bugs from the window/door gaps, The hotel front desk was nice but the first response was 'It's cold, I think there are mice down here in the lobby too"... I had to ASK to get housekeeping and explain why... as the mouse was on the bed and running around the room. Maintenance was super nice, they came to fix the TV (the previous guest stole the power cord), and put down a sticky trap for the mouse, explaining this was 'all he could do'.
We ended up deciding to switch rooms. Only available was 4 queen (2 room) hotel desk didn't explain that it was connected by a bathroom, and missing a refrigerator/microwave before moving... Disappointed it didn't have a microwave/refrigerator and we weren't told this before moving. The second room (310) was in just as good of shape. Paint peeling, lack of upkeep in the bathroom, just general lack of updating even simple items like caulk, or the fact that the bathroom shelf was basically hanging on by a thread on the wall. Doors stuck and didn't open/shut properly for the bathroom. Lamp fixtures falling apart. After the move, I realized I forgot my cell phone charger in the first room, key still worked (only about 1-hr after the move) went back to the original room, the charger was there, but they had already REMOVED THE MOUSETRAP. They didn't even catch the mouse for the next person who rented the room!!! It was like they did it just to shut us up and didn't actually care about catching the mouse.
Overall, had I paid $120/night it might have been doable (actually that's giving it more credit than it deserves). I could have stayed down the street and paid $80/night and had a better room. We paid ALMOST $900 for 2-nights. Outrageous for the dilapidated state of the rooms. Will NOT be staying here again and will be telling everyone I know the facts of our stay.
