We came and lucked out to find a spot someone was just leaving, and then hovered on Sunday until one of the riverside spots was free. We found many people already arranged to take a site and put there registration on the sign before the people even moved out. Was like a feeding frenzy Sunday afternoon. Did not enjoy this aspect of finding a site.

But if you can muscle your way into a site it is well worth it. Most sites are well away from the others with plenty of space. There are no services and no cell service. The camp hosts come around regularly with firewood ($10) if needed.

Amazing campground! Amazing hosts!
We have been camping at beaver flats for many years now and it really bothers us that the hosts get a bad rap!
We have witnessed first hand the unruly,
disrespectful, noisy, speeding idiots that have zero reguard for anyone but themselves! If want to act like that go random camp where you won't bother the people that go to beaver flats for the peace and quiet. alberta parks have put up signs all over the campground all you have to do is open your eyes and read them! An empty site is not for hikers to stop and change your babies diaper and leave a mess for someone who is going to camp there! After checkout time the hosts go and clean all vacant sites for the next camper who comes in! And they go above and beyond by the way, you will not find a better run cleaner campground anywhere!
So don't leave a crappy review for the people that work extremely hard to make beaverflats a great and beautiful place to camp just because you don't want to be a respectful human and follow simple campground etiquette. So just remember when your checking reviews there are always 2 sides to every story.
Looking forward to camping there next year and having the great hosts welcome us like they always do!
All the best to the best campground staff in kananaskis Country!!.

This is a lovely small campground, on a first come first serve basis, if you want a lot for a long weekend you might need to go out early some times Wed or Thurs before. It's only open May to Sept. as the access road is closed at Elbow Falls. The best lots are on the D loop, some right on the river, most are secluded from the others with trees and shrubs. All have hard standing for RVs, Trailers & Tents - and you must use it. The Camp Hosts are great and very helpful and keep the place spic and span. There's a no noise rule at 11pm which is late enough. Fees are $26 and wood $10 a bundle which is a bit expensive. This is basic camping.. there are basic washrooms (no flush, no showers) and the water is for washing only - unless you want to boil it up / sterilize it.

There is no electric hook ups or even cell phone signal (you need to drive up to Paddy's Flat for that) but it is a very beautiful area... great easy hikes through the Beaver Ponds to Elbow Falls or upstream to the small swimming pools (warning these are cold most of the year!). There is excellent biking and hiking for the more adventurous, along the West Bragg Creek trails or go along Hwy 66 to Forget-Me-Not pond, or head to Ing's Mine Trailhead and do 7 km bike/hike to the Ice Caves!

this is our go to place... we've been 3 times already this season.

Camped at Beaver Flat before the August long weekend. Arrived before 10 am on a Tuesday and was dismayed to find that more than half the sites were occupied by tiny 2 man tent place holders. No one camped there the entire week. It’s a huge loop hole in the Kananaskis first come first serve policy. In fact 70% of the riverside sites were ‘occupied’ by empty motor homes and empty fifth wheel trailers. You’d think that meant the campground would be quiet but you’d be wrong. Quiet time is not enforced and we were trapped between the non stop music and the generator charging the phones of the fifth wheel full of teenagers that giggled until after one am. It’s not a place to rent except perhaps in the walk in sites. It’s too bad though because it’s a lively area and well maintained campground.

This is a great campground, it is only open during the summer months and is a first come first serve campground.
We were there on the May long weekend and the whole time people were coming and going. There seemed to be a spot any of the days during the long weekend which is unusual for this area.
Fire wood is available at $10.00 per bundle of 4 for $35.00 and the camp hosts are extremely friendly.
We walked around and saw the beaver dams and watched the beaver swimming around getting more branches for their homes, great little walk for all ages and extremely easy.

Great little spot by the river. Busy campground was full by Thursday afternoon. The road is rough through the site but other than that the campground is well kept. $10 for a small bundle of wood; bring your own.
