Nestled in a prime spot for exploring the local area, the Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort is celebrated for its Western-themed atmosphere and clean, spacious rooms. While the resort's amenities like pools and hot tubs are a hit, areas such as WiFi reliability and limited towel availability have room for improvement. Guests enjoy the live music and the hotel's overall cleanliness, but some express that the value proposition is diminished by unexpected fees and dated room features. Despite this, the staff's friendliness generally leaves a positive impression.

I always read reviews before booking hotels and take it with a grain of salt. Of course there were some not so good reviews for this place but we ended up choosing it because the price was reasonable and the location was perfect for us (not far from Anza Borrego Visitor center and also the Slot Canyon). we stayed there 5/10/21 a little late in the season so it was not very crowded at all which was nice. The room was just what we had booked on Travelocity (2 queen beds). We were very happy the air conditioner worked well. We had a working microwave and refrigerator (kept things cold but not cold enough to keep anything frozen on top). We thought the room was good sized and large restroom. We checked in around 3:15pm I believe and where in our room within 15 minutes. I'm sure this could be more of an issue during prime season but no issue today. Our granddaughter and myself loved the pool. I felt the hot tub spa and it was warmer than the pool but not really what you would expect for a hot spa. My wife would not have liked it because not hot enough. The restaurant was already closed for the season so not many dinner choices on a Monday night (many places this time of year only open Wed-Sunday. But no problem for us, when we travel we always have instant noodles or something ourselves and instant oatmeal which was easy to fix with the microwave. Nice location to see the metal creatures that are located all around the area and only about 30 min to the slot canyon and 8 minutes to the trailhead for Palm Canyon.

The next time we come we will definitely stay here again due to location, pool, and general satisfaction. It is an older hotel so if that bothers you try somewhere else but for us it was just what we were looking for and I would recommend it. One other thing, the front desk told us that she leaves at 7pm and then no one would be at the hotel but the telephone outside was available to call maintenance if there was a problem. We didn't need to. The telephone in the room didn't have a dial tone but not really necessary since everyone has cellphones now a days. The wifi seemed to work fine, even for viewing YouTube videos in our room (Room 104).

We've wanted to take our two granddaughters, ages 5 and 3, on a camping trip renting an RV. It turned out to be quite a process and then I heard about Palm Canyon. We rented the vintage trailer for them, supervised by their aunt. My wife and stayed in a room in the cool looking hotel. It was the perfect arrangement! Check in was fast and easy and Bear, the Assistant Manager, walked us to the trailer. The girls were thrilled and set about unpacking and picking beds. I also want to mention that the Manager answered the phone when we made our reservations and was a big help telling us about the layout and amenities. The RV part with the trailer had access to their own pool and bathhouses which had toilets and showers and were clean. The Hotel part has access to its own pool which we preferred because all the girls wanted to do was swim and play in the pool. The food had limited choices but they were all good and had excellent service. Bear was also working the food bar and was very helpful again. There's not much to do in the area but it was fun to get the girls out for a short hike at Anzo Borrego Park a mere mile away. We ate two meals at Kendall's with a great staff who were very helpful with the kids. Not much else to do in the area but all the kids wanted to do was use the pool which was adequately heated for this time of the year. On the way from the granddaughter's home in San Diego we stopped in Julian and had a fun time there. We went to Miner's Diner for a good meal and went into their Candy Mine for fun treats. Julian Pie Company is the place to go for great pies. We bought one for our trip and five on the trip back home!

We've driven past this resort multiple times over the years and my children have always commented with a desire to stay. It's awfully cute and kitschy, so we decided to give it a try. We were happy to find the price was fair and the accommodations were clean. However, the readiness of our room was delayed significantly and the wifi was out almost the entire reservation which made for a hard time getting work done and relaxing. Also, be warned that two pools were advertised, but only one was clean enough to enjoy which impacted how comfortable we felt using it because of the number of guests it had to serve (COVID times.) Overall, the staff was lovely (if a little slow to agree to compensate for inconveniences) and we were happy to check this place of our list, but we're not likely to make this our regular spot.

First of all, the trip off the beaten paths to Borrego Springs is a great experience in itself. The scenery is breathtaking. Then, when you arrive at the Palm Canyon and RV Resort, you are greeted by a very well designed quaint village landscape that makes up the facility. The old fashion western look and atmosphere is a welcome exit from the day to day stresses of our current era. Palm Canyon Hotel has a unique landscape, location and construction that caters to nature lovers and astronomers and people who just want to get away for a while. Borrego Springs itself is an internationally recognized dark sky community. This means the views of the night skies are worth the price itself. But the rooms were very clean, wonderfully designed and superbly decorated. And the prices were very reasonable. But it’s their people that make the place feel like home. They’re friendly, courteous and always seeking ways to make your stay really special. I usually don’t write such glowing reviews for places, but this time ... this place ... it’s worthy of the effort indeed.

We stayed in one of the streamliners, i'd chose the single beds as I think the streamline is bigger than the ones with double. They could definitely do with with upgrading but I liked the fact they still had rustic charm. We couldn't get the heating to work at first but we left it and it did heat up eventually. We asked for extra blankets as I didn't want to sleep with the heating on. Theres a gas BBQ and fire pit outside with is really cute. The TV worked at night but it did go in and out of signal during the day. I really enjoyed staying there. There were lots of utensils, everything you needed to cook for yourself, which id recommend as the food in the restaurant was way too salty. The area is really nice and peaceful. there are 2 pools which were heated and the stars at night were amazing, even after the storm of the day. I would have stayed an extra night but for the weather, it was raining and snow predicted on the pass to San Diego so we left after one night. (I didn't stay in the hotel rooms but then did look cute and clean). Overall its a really cute place to stay, friendly staff. wifi worked best at the bar restaurant, but did work at the streamline in the morning and night when less people were on it. I don't usually camp so this was a highlight for me

Although not the typical 4 star, I rate it as that because of the service, staff and overall good vibes. It is an old resort, the rooms are not high end but the bed was comfortable and clean. The mini frig was super cold and microwave and coffee pot there. The TV was a 55 " bigger than most hotels there in Borrego. There are 2 restaurants on the property and the entrance to Anza Borrego is less than 1/2 mile away. I saw people swimming in the pool and sitting in the jacuzzi, keep in mind this was winter and it had snowed that night in the mountains and really cold rain all night, but the pools were open and available. Our room was om the second floor and included a little balcony which was great for letting in the fresh air as the windows do not open. When I got home, I realized I had left a pair of earrings on the sink vanity. I called to ask if housekeeping could check and see if the earrings where still there. They were and housekeeping took them to the front desk where they were kept until my friend picked them up for me the following day. Marilyn at the front desk is sweet and helpful, she is very good with texting you if you need assistance. There is also a nice gift shop in the lobby area. I got some cool sox's and a beautiful southwestern looking coffee mug made by Pendelton. The only draw back is nothing opens until 7am, if your looking for a coffee shop near by the only one with breakfast is Kendall's.5 star rating if the rating includes Marilyn. I would stay there again and bring a swimsuit next time even if it is in winter.

I've stayed at this hotel several times now and every single time I notice how thin the walls and floors seem to be; there is always noise waking me up. This last trip, the front desk put us (my husband and myself) in an adjoining room to a family with screaming babies that screamed all night and all morning. The hotel was practically empty and as someone who has worked in hotels and restaurants I know that good hospitality means at least attempting to make it a nice stay for everyone by not putting a couple of adults in a room that adjoins to a room full of screaming babies. And I don't mean our room happened to be next to the babies, I mean an adjoining room with the little locked door between rooms like you would stay in if you wanted to stay with family. No sleep, which ruined our trip since we were planning an early morning hike. Would have been more comfortable sleeping in the cold car in the parking lot. Also, the lady at the desk wasn't even wearing a mask when she checked is in WTF. Not staying here again.

Hi 19513QNarlenem, Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to see that you have chosen to take your concerns public even after we corresponded with you privately. I'm sure you can understand that we are unable to know whether guests with children will disturb surrounding guests. Our property is a wonderful family-friendly destination, and we love families with children. You were placed in one of our most desirable King rooms, but we would have been happy to relocate you to a different room if you had called our 24/7 service line. Our staff all wear masks when assisting guests. You arrived after-hours when our team was closing up, so I'm sorry to hear our kind, hospitable front desk agent forgot to put her mask back on when assisting you. Have a Merry Christmas.

We reserved an Airstream but instead got a vintage relic in disrepair, not what we were shown on the website. When we asked to be moved they told us because we booked from a third party they could not help us other than reimburse the resort fee- which took weeks of prodding. They were not responsive to our concerns and were terrible about returning our phone calls or messages, always promising to pass our concerns on to the general manager which never happened. The unit itself was clean, the outdoor area was great and despite it all we did have agood time. They had a very nice outdoor grill, table and chairs, a canopy, and an outdoor gas fire pit. I had hoped to go back but I'm afraid to give it another try. There were several beautiful Airstreams on the property and I don't know why we were given the unit we had. The pool/spa was okay, the grounds descent and the big plus is how close it is to Anza-Borrego State Park- walking distance! We were given drink coupons so decided to head up to the bar and the bartender was extremely nice. Nice outdoor area for eating and drinking with plenty of tables and heaters although that was not our goal for this trip. We just didn't feel that we were treated fairly. I'm really not one to complain and although we did enjoy our stay and made the best of it it was overall very disappointing.

Hi! I was there a few weeks ago (late January) for just one night. I stayed in one of the rooms. When walking around the site I don't recall any outside grills. I found the staff to be very responsive to my questions with a genuine effort of wanting to help. Maybe a quick call or an email to them could get your question resolved.

No, not at your site but there are some at the end of your row for personal, group or communal usage. There is also a large group area next to the fire rings with BBQ and some picnic tables. On a Saturday night we saw 2/3 fire rings in use.
