A favourite of independent business and leisure travellers from all over the world, this hotel gets the details right: complimentary WiFi, free English breakfast, a popular lounge bar and restaurant, and discounted use of the adjacent spa and swimming pool at Aquilla Health and Fitness Club. The Rembrandt's beautifully modernised Edwardian rooms were originally apartments for Harrods. The building itself dates from 1911, and was one of the first steel and concrete structures in the UK. All 194 rooms and suites are smartly designed to feel both spacious and cosy, with high technology including flat-screen TVs, free WiFi and free local calls. WiFi is also free in public areas. All guests enjoy a free full English breakfast buffet, included in the room rate. Palette Restaurant serves seasonal British and international cuisine at lunchtimes, including a traditional carvery most days and always on Sundays. In the evenings, you can dine in the stylish Conservatory Bar, or sip a cocktail in 1606 Lounge Bar. And what better way to celebrate your visit to London than with a traditional Afternoon Tea, complete with finger sandwiches and fresh scones with clotted cream? The Rembrandt Hotel places you directly across from London's Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), within a 10-minute walk of the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Hyde Park, Harrods and the Royal Albert Hall. The location is superb – surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and cultural attractions. You can stroll to South Kensington underground station in five minutes. From here, District, Circle and Piccadilly Tube lines take you straight to the City of London, Heathrow Airport and mainline train stations including Paddington and Victoria.

The Rembrandt Hotel emerges as a charming establishment with an inviting atmosphere, praised for its prime location near museums and Hyde Park. Reviewers frequently commend the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, although some find them to be on the smaller side and slightly outdated. While the service generally receives high marks for attentiveness, a few guests have encountered slower service. Opinions on value and amenities like the pool are mixed, with some guests mentioning additional fees and accessibility issues, but the good breakfast and traditional English charm often leave a lasting impression.

We have just had a weekend stay at the Rembrandt booked through Secret Escapes. We booked two rooms, one for myself and the other for my sister and niece. I arrived first and checked in without any issues. The problem started when my sister and niece arrived and were informed by a very brusque receptionist that her booking was only for one guest and she would have to sort this out herself. My sister had all the relevant paperwork however was not believed by the receptionist. My sister phoned Secret Escapes who contacted the hotel and the issue was quickly resolved.
The hotel is in a good location, close to museums and the underground. We booked executive rooms which were a good size, clean with lovely fresh bedding a super shower in the bathroom and all the usual items you expect to find in a good quality hotel. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was good with both hot and cold food. Our deal with Secret Escapes included a £70 food credit for each room so we ate in the restaurant on Friday evening. We found the food to be fairly average and not the best.
We had some drinks in the bar. Drinks are always expensive in hotels, you expect this, but on check out we were very unhappy to find that a large service charge had been added to the bill.
All in all a very comfortable stay but some things to be aware of and the reason I have only given an average review.

Dear Sunlady4 Thank you for reviewing the hotel following your recent stay. I am pleased that we provided good sized accommodation, that was well appointed, clean and fresh. I am delighted that you enjoyed our extensive buffet breakfast that was included in your package, although I am disappointed that your evening meal failed to meet your expectations. Belatedly, I can only apologise that your sister and niece experienced problems when they tried to check-in, this is not unusual, however, I am pleased that the issue was resolved, after a quick phone call. We make every effort to be transparent with all charges and we do add a discretionary 10% service charge to all Food & Beverage items, this is displayed on all menus. This charge is discretionary not compulsory and so guests can and do decline this charge, either at the point of service or upon check-out. Thank you for sharing your feedback, I hope that our service shortfalls did not detract from your overall enjoyment of the weekend. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manger

This weekend was the second time we have stayed here and it is one of our favourite hotels in London for the price.
Staff are very helpful and professional and the rooms (we received a free upgrade) are clean and nicely decorated and have everything you would expect.
They do a deal with lunch and a welcome drink which is good value.
It is an easy walk to Harrods and Knightsbridge with lots of great shops bars and restaurants close by.

The only reason it is not 5 stars is that the breakfast is pretty standard, and the eggs are pre-fried and not cooked to order - but I am being very picky.

The lounge area is really nice to sit in and have a drink with a fire and high backed comfortable chairs. The whole hotel looks and feels spotless, no sticky tables or menus.

We will definitely go back there again.

Dear dishdrew Thank you for your informative review of The Rembrandt following your stay in January. I am delighted to see that you are returning guests and that once again, we did not disappoint. I am pleased that we provided clean, nicely decorated, well appointed accommodation with professional, helpful, service that you deemed to be excellent value for money. We believe that our neighbourhood provides something for everyone; three world famous museums, designer shopping at Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Sloane Street as well as an abundance of restaurants bars and cafes. I am sorry that elements of our breakfast failed to meet your expectations, there is a live cooking station, mainly for omelettes, however the team or breakfast Supervisor would have provided an item freshly cooked directly from the kitchen, upon request. I am thrilled that overall you have an enjoyable stay and would definitely return, We are already looking forward to welcoming you back on your next trip. 4 of us booked this as a celebration for my friend’s 50th. They gave us adjoining rooms, as requested. We also had a lovely surprise- wine, birthday banner and birthday cards when we got to the room. We booked two nights through secret escapes- breakfast both mornings and £70 per room towards an evening meal. Food was very good. Excellent value. The hotel is in a lovely area, directly opposite the V and A and a 5 minute walk to the tube station.

We have planned for a stay with our two kids for 4 nights. The location is ideal and the hotel in general is not quite 4 star level but a ok 3 star place given it needs a general makeover.

Unfortunately one of the two rooms we have booked has just been air cleaned with a ozone machine and we have not been able to stand the air quality in the room for more then the first night. Solution that has been offered by the hotel was another ozone treatment of the room that we have refused for health reasons.

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment so the appeal of the place is well below advertised.

If you want to hit the gym, spa or pool that will cost extra given it is run by a different company. On any case it is 80s style nature so you would not want to go there anywhere.

No refund has been given to us even though we had to check out after one night.

Good thing was that they have been handling our lost items very well.

Given our experience, I can not recommend the place and I’m disappointed about handling a serious health threat so poorly.

Dear julienk525 Thank you for reviewing the hotel following your recent stay, although I am of course disappointed that we failed to meet your expectations. The hotel is annually inspected and once again we have retained our official four star rating. Essential maintenance work to the front elevation of the hotel is taking place and scaffolding had to be urgently erected at the end of 2019, all guests are being contacted by email to inform them of this, prior to their arrival. Whenever a complaint is received, albeit rarely, our team will do their utmost to offer an alternative which meets the guests requirements, I am sorry that you found the air quality in our bedrooms to be so poor, this is extremely unusual. Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback, I am sorry that so many aspects of your stay did not meet your satisfaction and that regrettably you had to check-out after one night. It is always disappointing for us not to meet our guests expectations, notwithstanding, on behalf of all the team we would like to wish you a happy New Year. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

After staying in a cold and dreary Doubletree room the previous night, the room at the Rembrandt felt like a little piece of heaven. It was bright, warm, colourful and had plenty of amenities including a jacuzzi bath which was an amazing treat for the aching legs and feet after a busy day sightseeing in London. The only slight downside for us was that the bed was too soft for our liking so not quite as comfy a sleep as we hoped for. The check in and concierge staff were very good, extremely professional and I have to particularly mention Deborah on the front desk, who was so calm and composed when a particularly persistent guest kept interruptting and asking her questions over my shoulder while she was checking me in. I was quite taken aback at his rude behaviour but I was so impressed at the way she dealt with him firmly but politely, while keeping her focus on the check-in and smiling throughout, so I would highly recommend her as the hotel's next employee of the month. In contrast though was the most unfriendly bartender, who shrugged at us without even a smile, virtually threw our drinks into their glasses and smacked them onto the bar so hard its a wonder they didn't smash! We just had the one drink!! Breakfast service was very busy, but seemed well organised and you can sit in the quieter bar area if the restaurant is full. There were plenty of the usual hot and cold choices, plus an omelette chef. All in all a good choice for a London break.

The service was excellent staff were really friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The Receptionist very kindly let us put us bags in their baggage room before our room was ready so we could go to the Natural History Museum. My son had a German exam the next day which took until 2pm after which we went for a meal and again our bags was stored for us after check out. The Receptionist also called a taxi when we collected our bags. The breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. Definitely stay here again.

My husband and I had a super overnight stay in the lovely hotel. Its close to the underground station and opposite the V and A. We love the V and A. The staff were superb- professional, helpful and kind. They were so friendly and personable and keen to help. Our room was ready early which we didn't expect and it was a large comfy bright clean room with a pod coffee machine and a sofa as well as slippers and a huge fluffy robe. The bed was a very very large bed!
We felt very safe with everyone wearing masks, hand gel supplied and a spotless room. Breakfast was self service and a good selection of hot and cold food. The hot chocolate was delicious. The sausages and bacon were of a high quality. The desk staff are helpful, providing us with extra coffee pods, suitcase storage, and a last minute taxi.
Will definitely be returning for a longer stay. Im sorry I can't remember the names of all the helpful staff apart from Andrea because I'd love to thank them all individually. What a super team to be so amenable when they must have had a very difficult 18 months.

Only left this hotel today, we wanted to visit London for my daughters 18th birthday. The hotel is in a great location across from the V&A museum. The rooms were perfect and they had decorated my daughter’s room with a banner balloons and left a complimentary bottle of fizz and fruit basket. Such a lovely gesture. Very comfortable beds, lovely toiletries and very friendly helpful staff. We also loved the health spa in the hotel. Neil on reception helpfully got us tickets for the show we wanted. Also great breakfasts every day. Little gem of a hotel we will book this one again.

Great location, okay hotel. There’s a lot to like about this traditional British hotel—top of the list is location: it’s directly across the street from the Victoria and Albert Museum (which is right next door to the Natural History Museum) and just around the corner from the Underground. The Big Bus tour stops right in front and there’s a bunch of good local restaurants (we liked Thai Square and Comptor Libinais in particular.) There’s even a terrific little independent bookstore (South Kensington Books.) It’s just a few blocks from Harrod’s in one direction and Hyde Park in another. And the “free” (I prefer “included,” breakfast is decent.) Our room was a good size, especially for London. What didn’t work for me was the bed/bedding—not very comfortable and a bit skimpy. The pillows were terrible, too. But the real issue was the shower—while there was plenty of hot water and water pressure, it was pretty high off the ground (a BIG step in/out) and the floors were marble, so very slippery when wet—a combo that could easily lead to a hip fracture for someone who isn’t super mobile. Still, a good place to stay and probably less expensive than the other side of Hyde Park. Worth a try....

Dear 817paulah Thank you, for your extremely detailed and informative review of The Rembrandt, following your recent stay. Like you, we love our location in the Museum Quarter, close to The Royal Albert Hall, Harrods and Hyde Park. As you know we are also directly opposite the Big Bus tour stop. Within walking distance we benefit from a number of small independent shops as well as a plethora of restaurants, which cater to all culinary tastes. I am pleased that we provided spacious accommodation. If you were unhappy with any of our bed linen, we would have immediately offered alternatives. Some guests prefer sheets and blankets, others require duvets, we also have a multitude of different pillows. I am sorry that you were not comfortable, this could easily have been rectified. For your future reference we now have a number of rooms with walk-in showers which are available upon request. It is always personal preference and some guests still insist on having a bath. Despite our shortfalls I am delighted that you still consider us a good place to stay. Thank you again, for taking the time to share your feedback. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

First of all Hertfordshire is quite a big county so depending on your destination, I think a train would be definitely cheaper. You can get to most main train stations for the underground (Metro) or tube as we say in London. A taxi or Uber would be more expensive depending on your budget.

Dear Stacey V Good afternoon, I am delighted so many people have answered your questions. The Rembrandt is on the main Cromwell Road, which is a direct route into London. However, we are extremely lucky that the pavements or sidewalks are wide in Knightsbridge and so you can go out for a morning walk and within 10 minutes you could be in Hyde Park. Our local area is known as the Museum Quarter, as we are directly opposite the Victoria & Albert Museum and we are a short stroll away form the Natural History and Science Museum. There are an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes in the area which cater to all culinary tastes and monetary budgets, you will be spoilt for choice and our Concierge team will be delighted to make recommendations and reservations. I can also confirm that all rooms at the hotel are air conditioned. If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager
