Hotel Dena offers a stay marked by contrasting opinions. While some guests consider it a great value with its prime location near Pasadena's attractions and commend the clean, comfortable rooms, others feel the pinch of additional costs like parking. The hotel's amenities and service are generally well-received, noted for attentive staff and quality dining, yet a few visitors mention outdated facilities and varied service response times. The ambiance is often described as unique and inviting, with a Hollywood-inspired theme that adds to the hotel's charm.

North Hollywood, United States
I was a bit skeptical upon arrival because the a/c unit in our room wasn't working and our stay was prompted by the severe heat we've been experiencing and not having AC in our house. The room was also a bit small for all of us ( my mother, my senior dog, and myself for 5 nights.). Within a very short time they sent someone up to fix the a/c and the room became much more comfortable. The space was still an issue however because I work remotely and am in school online. I needed that element of privacy and there were no upgrades available because they were completely sold out. When I explained my situation, the very nice gentleman that checked me in (I wish I could remember his name because he was great) stated they would have openings the following day as people check out and told me to speak with the manager the next day.

The next morning I spoke with Kathy, the manager on duty, who was absolutely a gem. She demonstrated true concern for my situation and went out of her way to help me get into a room that would work. Kathy and Natalie, who always wore a smile, worked through the complexity of my stay to make it work, and I was overwhelmed by the kindness and earnest concern they had toward me, it made me feel valued as a Marriott member. Kathy has incredible leadership skills and it is evident through her team as they demonstrate the same characteristics of service and care.

Timothy S. and Jose A in the club lounge are wonderful human beings and made my morning experience exceptional. Timothy is a coffee making beast, a coffee lover after my own heart, and has the personality to start any persons morning off right. Ivan was helpful at the end of my stay, reviewing my charges and making sure everything was correct and I had what I needed. He was funny too.

The dining experience and the lady who answers the phone when calling down to place an order was the least impressive and probably the most challenging part of my trip and I'll just leave that there.

The rooms are clean but on the smaller side. The furniture is not bad, a little old but nice. There are USB chargers built into some of the outlets which was very helpful. The beds are comfortable, including the rollaway bed if you have to use one. I didn't use the pool or gym, but both appeared clean and inviting. The hotel is long so if you don't feel like walking the distance, ask for a room closer to the half way point to the elevator. The building overall is on the older side so most of the furnishings are a bit dated. Still a very nice hotel and I will stay here again, I'm looking forward to it actually.

The check in people late at night are fun!
Rosie and Raul for dining area are the best. I recommend his tomato soup.
Jose in the Marriott lounge has been so kind - getting real half and half to pour instead of opening up those little tiny cups.
Good location. Easy drive to Burbank and to the Burbank airport.

This hotel had super soft Pillows, but like the perfect soft not the flat soft and they were cotton which I find most important. I hate feather pillows in Hotels, they usually fall flat. The hotel has very soft sheets and always a clean room. The staff is super friendly but I’m actually taking my time to recognize an employee that always makes my stay feel at home, IVAN B he’s just a perfect customer service agent and always represents Marriott perfectly. He goes above and beyond to make me smile and make my stay exactly as I intended, but better because I get to look forward to IVAN B’s help or his friendly and kind personality. All the staff members including housemen and housekeepers are incredibly attentive and helpful. Everytime I’m around Pasadena this is my #1 choice but I do have to say they should upgrade the dinner menu. Good food and great servers but very limited menu. But that’s what makes the location so perfect close to soo many great places to eat near by.

Stayed four nights for a music festival in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl (very close and accessible). Excellent service by all. I had to get a rental walker dropped off before I arrived and they had no problem with it. Their temporary restaurant (reno’s in the regular location) had excellent food and the breakfast service every day by Adriana was absolutely top notch. Room was comfortable and quiet all nights and self parking was plentiful (the lower level was my go to for close -to-door parking). Will plan to stay here again next year.

Dena Hotel excels in hospitality, cleanliness, and efficiency. From the welcoming staff at check-in to the immaculate rooms, the hotel maintains high standards that ensure a comfortable stay. Each room is spotless, with sanitized bathrooms and fresh linens, reflecting the hotel's commitment to hygiene. This extends to communal areas like the gym and pool, which are equally well-maintained.

The restaurant is a highlight, offering exceptional service. Rosie, a staff member, stands out for her meticulous attention to detail. Jose and Adriana, additional members of the restaurant staff, also contribute significantly to the exceptional experience. Whether it's the presentation of dishes, timely refilling of beverages, or their friendly demeanor, each adds a personalized touch that elevates the dining experience and sets Dena Hotel apart from competitors.

Good location near all the activity in Old Town, but quieter than other local hotels with it’s location a couple of blocks south of Colorado Boulevard. Clean rooms and a decent continental breakfast for the club room. In the Club Room, Rosie is a ray of sunshine in the morning making sure you have what you need.

The restaurant is fine for breakfast but for lunch and dinner there are a number of great choices within just a few blocks.

I have stayed at this hotel more than 6 times this year and it is consistently good and reasonably priced for the area.

CONS: Front entrance is a joke, not even a Sheraton Logo on the wall. Drive up and at first it looks like a loading dock. Front desk people need to be better trained regarding disabled rooms. Even with a reservation I got 2 rooms that did not work for disabled guests. Morons. With the exception of Kathy (who is fantastic at solving issues), the front desk people are not pros. Self parking in the lot is a bit overpriced at $30/night. Sheraton cheaped out on the room TV's. Too small when viewing from bed that is across the room.
PROS: Kathy at the front desk. Bar makes great martinis. Breakfast is very good and our waiter Sophia was terrific.

The staff and hotel are 5 stars. You’re welcomed with a beautiful fountain in the front and greeted with great customer service at the desk. The Manager Carlos was very professional and had our family feeling very welcome. For lunch, my wife and I tried their in house restaurant and our servers Juana and Juan Carlos were very very attentive and some of the best wait staff I’ve ever encountered in my travels. The food was immaculate too and even getting to meet the chef Raul I can tell he takes pride in his craft, very professional. The room was very clean as well. Came down for an LA trip and will definitely make this my hotel of choice next time I’m in the area.

I stayed here last month for the first time. I was upgraded to their club floor, but even tho the rooms have been updated recently they are tiny. Even for a regular part of the hotel, they are small. I got in late and discovered my tv didn't work. I called the front desk and reported it and the agent said someone would come by to look at it. After 45 minutes, I gave up, called the desk back and passed on having tv operating in my room. Around midnight, I was thirsty and went to the vending machine on my floor for a soda. It wasn't working, so I went down to the front desk thinking they had a pantry selling sodas. Nope, not this hotel. No place to get a beverage in the hotel, period. The next day at check out, the agent checking me in offered me a 2 PM late check out since I am a Bonvoy elite traveler. At 1:30 PM on check out day, it didn't matter I had a do not disturb sign on my door, and someone from housekeeping knocked and said they had no knowledge of my 2 PM late check out.

Communication seems to be the missing component of having a good stay here and for this hotel to run like a full service property. When I checked out, they agent said to me, "hopefully, it will be better next time." That doesn't sound very optimistic and neither am I.

We chose this hotel as it was listed as dog friendly. For $30 per pet per night (we have 2 small Maltipoos), I thought they would have an outdoors area for dogs. Not true, as much of the surrounding area is concrete. Our room was 112 steps from the closest elevator. If you travel with a dog or have trouble walking distances, I suggest asking for a room close to the elevators. The room was small and the bathroom exceedingly so. The bowl-sink occupied most of the only counter and there was only one small towel rack. The toilet was about 12 inches off the ground. On the plus side, the water pressure was good in the shower and there seemed to be lots of hot water. The beds were reasonably comfortable. With the $30 charge for parking, we paid $274 for one night stay, and breakfast is extra. This hotel needs a remodel and can hardly been regarded as a good value. If you are staying because of the surrounding area, it is close to shops, restaurants, and concerts.
