A well-maintained gravel road brought us to the “village” of Casa do Sol. The red tile roofs and cobblestone streets greatly enhanced the ambiance. The grounds were very well kept with lots of trees, flowers and grass. The pools looked marvelous though we never used them. We had opted for a villa which gave us ample living space and a secluded patio. Wifi was only available in and near the common library area, but that was sufficient for us.

The breakfast buffet was excellent and most nights we opted for the dinner buffet rather than the a la carte menu. What stood out most was the exceptional friendliness and hospitality of all staff, especially in the restaurant, but also in the reception. We felt more like friends than valued guests, and it made our stay most memorable. Thank you.

We spent one full day in Kruger National Park, and two days on the Panorama route to Blyde Canyon. Hazyview proved to be a well-located central place.

We stayed in a luxury unit - open plan room with a very large double bed, and a sitting room area with couches, balcony and plenty of space. Beautiful, spacious bathroom, with a shower and a bath. Our unit was very clean, with a lovely balcony. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We left very early both mornings to go on game drives in the Kruger National Park, and they provided packed breakfasts for us, which were ready when we left at 5H00 in the morning. Hotel was close to town and the Kruger Park, which was great! We have been to Casa do Sol before, and we will will certainly go there again!

We stayed for 2 nights during December 2019. The hotel is stunning and about 2 kms from the main road with all restaurants for dinner. Dinner at the hotel is buffet and we thought it was quite expensive seeing as there were so many nice places not far and a much much cheaper option.
The pool area was amazing, watch out for the monkeys running around.
The room was really beautiful, spacious and the AC worked so well. Breakfast wasn't bad it had everything you need, cold options and hot options but nothing extraordinary.
The stay was very pleasant, the staff were all very kind and helpful.

Not a good experience! Our room did not have any water!! We had been travelling internationally so this was a major issue. Also, we specifically searched out a property that had WiFi. There was absolutely no WiFi in the room, whatsoever. The WiFi that did exist was in the hotel reception area, which was a great distance from the rooms and was completely worthless as the signal was so weak that we could not even log on to the internet. Additionally, when attempting to pay for our dinner and drinks at the hotel, we were told that the credit/debit card machines were all "broken" and would need to pay cash. We never received a cash receipt or any type of receipt and we have later been told that the employee likely just pocketed our money. Due to the remote location of the property and inaccessibility of an ATM, depleting one's cash reserves when on the road for many weeks is a major issue when you are not expecting to have to use cash for anything, let alone the employee infidelity issue!

Stayed here for a night after coming out of the Kruger National Park. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The swimming pool area great. We did not have dinner at the hotel as we felt the cost for a carvery was expensive, fortunately Hazyview is close by and has a few good restaurants to choose from. The breakfast the next morning was good.

Focus of the hotel is apparently hosting and accommodating big tourist groups for a one night stay over. So not exactly the place for couples who are seeking a certain ambiance, tranquility, attentive service etc. According to me not a good mix with noisy guests at the pool and to see that after breakfast the buffet is almost cleaned out. Besides that, the rooms and furniture are outdated and need a facelift. Fridge and air-conditioning are functioning well but the WiFi system was not working and there is only a good signal in the library close to the lobby. Team in the restaurant is friendly and trying to do their best but lack the necessary training or guidance from the restaurant manager. Breakfast was good but for dinner - as we are not in favor of the buffet approach - we opted for the restaurants in nearby Hazyview.

My partner and I visited on 23/06/2023, due to the distance, we arrived around 8pm for check-in and had bought food along the way. I asked reception to warm it up for us as there aren't microwaves in the rooms. Reception referred me to the kitchen. The kitchen staff said their microwave is not working, a whole hotel with 139 guest rooms has no microwave!!! Speedy (employee) suggested that they use the oven but the lady behind the table said the plates will break from heat. There are stoves, pots, pans to warm up our food but reading the room, I picked up an unwillingness to help. Not very nice on our first night. This experience set the tone/expectations for the rest of our weekend. From us, we will not be visiting Anew Hazyview in the future.

So the last weekend of September we decided to take a breather and visit Hazyview. We booked a weekend stay at Casa Do Sol, which we mostly enjoyed.

The hotel is in a secure and secluded location, providing tranquility and peace from the normal rat race. The two pools are great as they offer enough room for guests to enjoy the water and sun. The room was, well, functional.

The only thing that was a bit of a let down was the room service dinner we ordered the first night of our stay. The food was rather cold. Didn't seem nor taste like it was freshly prepared. The portions were rather sparse too. So, that we didn't enjoy. However we ate as we were tired and hungry.

The breakfast on the first morning was also nothing to write home about. The coffee was lukewarm and we were not offered the option of having hot milk with the coffee, therefore we had to ask for a fresh pot of coffee and hot milk. The breakfast though on the second morning was a little bit improved, and it was more enjoyable.

If the food service can be hugely improved, this venue could be a great hit with Travellers and guests alike! 😁

Our stay was horrible right from the start. The only thing we were aware of before going there was that the restaurant is under construction. We were suprised to see that there was a major refurbishment happening which reception didn't warn us about. Our rooms were close to the construction site, and we didn't have privacy at all. On arrival, we had to ask one of the staff members to ask the construction man to move from our window. We could also see men on the roof from our room. When I went to my daughter's room, I found a man painting the door while she was inside. How do we stay in rooms while there is work being done?

The service was poor and short staffed. I understand that closing the hotel entirely for refurbishment could cost the property BUT you shouldn't open rooms where the construction is happening. We were supposed to be far from that. This was horrible.

We only had towels for swimming for o e day and the following day we were told there are no more towels because people don't return them "please use the bath towels" we were told.

We ordered drinks from the pool, it took very long to get the drinks because there was only one waiter. The glasses we used were left at the pool until the following day afternoon when we asked the same waiter to move them.

Yes, there is wi-fi in the rooms but it is patchy. The best wi-fi reception is near the restaurant and swimming pool. Even then it is a relatively slow connection. Hope this helps!
