First of all, all the good reviews that you see for this hotel are because people are confusing it with Sri Bungalows which is another hotel on Monkey forest Road. We booked it for two night but stayed only one ... It was pretty cheap though...IDR 200 per night for an A/C room, compared to nearby hotels. Now for my experience.. Bathtub looked filthy...wasn't enough light in the bathroom so you couldn't really tell how filthy it was. The bed sheet and towels were old and worn out...

The only positive was that the staff was courteous..( I think this is applicable for most of the places i lived in bali/Ubud)

pros: room was clean enough (although the bathroom kinda stunk at times). price was reasonable for what it gives, esp compared to similar places in the area. wifi very good.
cons: service was 6/10. had to ask for my breakfast even after i told them i wanted it at 9. waited quite a while for it. staff also quite pushy when offering tours/bikes at an inflated price. location was deep inside hanoman, quite a walk to main ubud street.

My wife and I love Dewi Sri Bungalows, but it is important to know that it is no longer the resort it was years ago. There were 20 rooms, now there are 4. The swimming pool and restaurant are no longer viable. There is peeling paint and colorful mold. This is not because the staff doesn't care; they are wonderful and industrious caretakers. It is because the lease on the property is soon to end, at which point it will likely all be destroyed and replaced with something more modern and almost certainly less charming. As it is now, it is a wonderful place for people who, like us, want a bit of old Ubud, funky and informal and comfortable, and certainly affordable. But hurry, soon it will all be gone.

I've seen the other review on this site and wonder if it was the same hotel. We booked into a bungalow suite at Dewi Sri. It does overlook rice paddies (many hotels in Ubud do) and the pool is in a nice position.

However, our bungalow suite was not sealed from insects. We were told by the 'helpful' staff that there is no problem with mosquitos in Ubud. Ubud is surrounded by rice paddies which every evening give off the little critters. You need a room that is well sealed.

The bathroom was gloomy and unclean.

In fact come to think of it, our bungalow suite wasn't a bungalow and only a mosquito would call it a suite!

We dumped our bags in our room and within 15 minutes got ourselves a deal elswhere in a clean hotel overlooking rice fields.

It's a shame as Dewi Sri looked like it could have once been a really nice place to stay.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel after moving over from another area in Bali.
The group of us booked their Deluxe Bungalows but were given a non deluxe experiences.

I was given the furthest bungalow and it was a good 5 to 8 minutes from the reception.
As usual, I will look through the room and check out the amenities. Found a file for room service but then there is no phone in the room. There is also no flask for hot water and no hair dryer. This means that if you want room service, you will have to walk to the reception to request for it, which is the same for the hot water.

Our bungalow's bathroom is semi attached to the room. You will have to open a backdoor to a small open air balcony and the door to bathroom is at the other end.
This causes inconvenience as you will have to bring all your stuff to the bathroom and get dressed there after your wash up as people can see the balcony.

To make things worse, the balcony is constantly infested with ants and other insects. We have to make our way across trails of ants whenever going to the toilet. Even the clothes rack at the balcony is part of their trail.

I am considered myself lucky as the other bungalow that my friends were staying keep having black out. there was 1 night, there was like a black out for 2 hours. On the other night, there was 2 blackout and when confronting the reception, we were told that the cables are faulty and the engineer will come in the morning. In the end they managed to get the power back but do remember that every blackout you will have to walk to the reception as there is no phone.

I understand that this is a budget stay but i believe budget stay will at least have the basic service.

Sri Bungalows is the name of a hotel on Monkey Forest Road and is reasonable in price, spotlessly clean and serviced by unfailingly kind and polite people. Please do not confuse the two!

We checked in and checked out within an hour. We booked the top of the line room. It was dirty, blood stains on the sheets and blankets. The one sitting chair outside was broken, the Bali chaise was covered with ants and hair. The kid that escorted us to the room under a broken umbrella was nice, but the man at the front desk was surly. When we arrived, he emerged from a hole in the wall like a troll and treated us as intruders. To top it off the place is way overpriced. HORRIBLE!

We visited the place as a group of 25 adults and 2 kids. Were very pleased with the location of the hotel and the beautifully kept garden. The bungalows are, if a bit dated, charming and have a local feeling, with big teakwood doors. The beds were huge and very comfortable. Pool was not huge but pleasant nevertheless and the staff friendly and helpful.

A really charming cottage, Balinese style, old, had a kind of magic to it. Too bad they let it fall apart, we really enjoyed it and hope they will reopen it. Beautiful design, nice natural feel to it. Some really nice old stone statues in the overgrown garden.

It's really sad to see the pictures right now, because it make me think how it still could look like...

U can't swim in the pool at all. It's green water and plants r taking over the place and the pool itself.

The rooms r all right.
-the bathroom is old but clean
-the owner really nice
-the air con stops working a lot of times, but he is fixing it directly (problem with the switch )
-ants as soon as u leave something lying around, so be careful with food
-it's close to a big and cheap market with everything (from water to fruits, chocolate, cookies, salad etc)
-only 150.000 (rupiah) per night for two people with aircon so really really cheap!
-the moskitos can be a pain in the a* ...but only when u sit outside, luckily never had some in the room
-the wifi is from the place next door, so no conection or only bad...

Have a look by yourself! If it's ok for u and u are not expecting so much it's alright!
