This Hotel is largely un-staffed, we arrived late at night after 36 hours of travelling to find the security entrance code would not work, and no-one would answer the Hotel Emergency out of hours service. We eventually tracked someone down after a stressful 1/2 hour of thinking we would be sleeping on the street.

The room itself was dated, varnish worn off the table top etc but functional, and clean... but read on. We stayed 7 nights and despite asking for the room to be refreshed twice, Les the manager never bothered to arrange it, so we spent the whole week with the same towels and bedding, very Lazy!! It has the look of a place inherited by a next generation who don't have the skills or interest their parents had

On a positive note we had comfortable sleeps, on a good bed. So if you are looking for a basic budget no frills stay this could be for you

If you like character and history this is the place for you. However, if you like shiny new things that gleam and sparkle with stainless steel and glass this is not for you.

My wife and I stayed one night on our way from Kamloops to Vancouver airport. We had driven past Chilliwack a number of times and finally decided to check out its historical downtown.

The Royal Hotel is much more interesting than the generic accommodations you get near the airport. It is a step back into the past, with a lobby that is almost unchanged from its 1908 beginnings. There are lots of fascinating period furnishings, and one imagines all the feet that have trodden the original floors. This would not be the place for the Holiday Inn ("no surprises") kind of guest as there is a feeling of being lived in but that was part of the hotel's charm for us.

We arrived quite late, and rang the bell to be admitted by a very friendly concierge we could call on at any time.

Linens, towels and the room were clean. The floor was creaky, the bath was actually in the bedroom and you could almost hear the ghosts in the attic. We loved all that character.

It's situated slap in the middle of the downtown which is charming with great care taken in restoring the old buildings.

When we were there (June 2024) the restaurant was closed awaiting a new tenant so we enjoyed our breakfast at the Uptown Grill in the restored downtown instead.

A perfectly fine low cost hotel. Small rooms. Terrible view. And a bathroom needing repairs. But clean. Comfortable. Great neighborhood. And very friendly. If you’re just look for somewhere to lay your head for the night and keep some cash in your wallet, this is a great option.

Not sure how anyone has given this place an excellent rating and good is even a stretch. Booked a queen “suite” for 3 people and upon arrival found that the suite part just means there is a separate room and maybe when this place was built a queen was only 54” wide but that’s a double in today’s world. The brass bed should be advertised as a hammock and was falling apart. Don’t dare get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom as it’s downhill one way and uphill the other as the building predates levels and squares. The person staying on the sofa-bed in the other room has to open the creaky door and walk past your bed to use the smallest bathroom ever with a door that drags on the floor. We knew there was no elevator but that’ll be a deal breaker for some. Really not impressed, spend the extra few bucks and stay somewhere else.

What a joke! I booked well ahead to secure a room for a busy long weekend. The day before I arrived they cancelled my room. I scrambled to find another room in town and ended up having to pay double. They offered to help, which they did not. They also still charged me for the room, which I didn't realize until 6 days later. I called back regarding the charges, I was told to contact Expedia. Many calls later I was referred back to the hotel as they were the only ones who could refund the money. What a waste of time and money!

Good Day, We recall your reservation well. We had an unfortunate plumbing incident on the day before your arrival which flooded your room, making it impossible to use for accommodation due to health and safety precautions until the issue was resolved. We did indeed refund your stay completely and informed that because you booked through a third party we could only refund that platform they would refund you. We processed the refund on our end immediately. We also provided a list of other hotels available in the area over the phone during several conversations in an effort to assist you in relocating. We were saddened to not be able to host you as that is always the ultimate goal, however the reason for your cancellation was entirely out of our control. We reached out as soon as we realized we would not be able to remedy the situation in time for your stay. While we understand your frustration and the inconvenience you experienced, there truly was nothing more we could have done as we were otherwise sold out on the night of your planned stay. We hope to be able to host you in the future, and would invite you back at a discounted rate for your troubles. In order to redeem your discount please reach out to info@royalhotelchilliwack.com with a screenshot of this review. Sincerely, The Royal Team

Was quaint and classic but no on site staff really lacked for me big time.

Was quite loud overall and no fan to draw out noise and the heat came on and off and on and off all night long! Barely slept!

Soaker tub upgrade cause of a screw up on my original ask had jets barley working to help fix back. Just a big tub!

NO cable tv, NO SPORTS to please note!

Worst was that the internet really lacked big time as was super slow! Barely got any emails done!

Thanks for the comments. We did upgrade to the Royal Suite because of a booking mix up. Disappointed that that didn't meet your expectations. We'll check to make sure that the tub works. Our internet should be seamlessly easy to use - we keep monitoring to ensure it's working correctly. Our TVs all use the Roku streaming which provides a wide variety of options including sports for great entertainment selections. Trust that the rest of your trip when well.

First time staying at the Royal Hotel. My wife and I were doing some things in Chilliwack for our anniversary and stayed here for the night. We did find the check in process a bit strange but it was easy. A step back in time. The antique room with the claw tub was quite charming. My wife loved her bubble bath in it. There was a TV in the room with a Roku attached. Just remember your login details for Netflix, Prime or whatever service you want to view. A nice find in downtown Chilliwack.

This 111 year old hotel is pretty original though the rooms have been updated. Clean cozy room. My wife loved the bed, I found it a bit on the hard side. Pillows were a good size for sleeping and soft. Right in the heart of old Chilliwack, very nice and helpful staff.

The included breakfast, gave several choices. We each had the traditional and could actually have comfortably split one between us. Definitely on the hungry man side. We really enjoyed our stay, took me back to my youth.

Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us. We look forward to having you here again. As I write this, we're readying to open after the pandemic closing. As we re-open, there are changes. Our cafe operation has changed and no longer will breakfast be offered in the cafe nor included in the stay. There are some very good options in the area that we can direct guests to. In addition, we'll be welcoming guests individually upon their arranged arrival time as we'll no longer have a 24 hour front desk service. We'll make sure that contact info is available to our guests to ensure their stay is a great as it's been for more than 100 years. We look forward to welcoming guests!

I stayed with my husband, it’s a beautiful hotel in a convenient location. We only had to go right downstairs to find a cute little bar where we went for drinks and music. I definitely recommend going here with friends or your spouse for some much needed time out!

Hello. Hmm, while we do like pets but no, the hotel does not have pet friendly rooms. The area around the hotel does not lend itself to pets as well. There are other good hotel options for guests traveling with pets.
