At the Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo, the staff's friendliness and attentiveness often receive compliments, though some guests have encountered less than professional service. The rooms are generally celebrated for their cleanliness and spaciousness with impressive views, but there's a note of caution regarding maintenance and noise. Cleanliness throughout the hotel garners praise, particularly regarding the comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Its location is lauded for easy access to iconic attractions, though taxi services sometimes disappoint. While the amenities, including the pool, please most, there are mentions of inconsistent service and room feature quality. Opinions on value vary, with some guests questioning the costs relative to the services offered.

We had the most incredible stay at the Steigenberger by the Pyramids. We booked directly with the hotel with the assistance of their reservations team, Mariam from the reservations team was so helpful! She helped us making our booking and supported with helping us plan logistics associated with our trip! The rooms were incredible, we had a pyramid view which was amazing! The rooms were large, very clear, beds were comfortable and the location was perfect for all the tourist attractions we wanted to see!

I spent a couple of days with my family during a long weekend.
The first thing you notice upon entry and throughout your stay is the friendliness and helpfulness of all the hotel's staff.
Checking in was very quick and smooth.
On entering the room we noticed that it's clean, but not sparkling. We requested a baby crib which was a bit old and worn out at some areas, but we were unable to put our baby in it, as they don't have a mat that fits from the reception, but for more than 90 minutes our request wasn't fulfilled. We then figured out accidentally that the request wasn't conveyed to the house keeping, a house keeping staff was checking on the room when she was surprised that they were not informed about any request for our room. We even tried contacting the front office over the phone, but they didn't pick up for around 10 minutes (we stopped trying when the house keeping staff knocked on our door).

The hotel has two restaurants one by the pool (Gardino), that's excellent regarding the taste and service. The second restaurant (the main), offers a buffet option. The buffet isn't that great with limited variety and the taste is ordinary. We had several comments about the main restaurant's professionalism and sticking to some of the basic hygiene guidelines.

We conveyed all our comments and observed points to the hotel management, who listened to them with great concern and promised to take action.

Is like to thank Mr. Ibrahim (duty manager), Mr. Mina , Mr. Khairy (restaurant managers) and chef Hanafy (head chef) for their concern and offering a complimentary dinner and lunch to try and make it up for our comments and the not so positive experience during our stay.

A strong point the hotel has its the pool, it's big and exceptionally clean

Despite all the comments and observations, i believe the hotel is worth a visit and I'm willing to stay there again in the future.

Possibly my most self romantic moment of 2019. Awesome that this hotel made my solo trip around the world so amazing. To preface what I am about to say, I have a WSET 3 credential in wine and Egypt is my 108th country. I checked into this hotel which has non-smoking rooms to an amazing view of the pyramids. To celebrate my arrival I ordered a bottle of dry Egyptian sparkling wine (yes Egypt have been growing grapes for thousands of years and you can see hieroglyphs showing how they made wine) that I thought would pair perfectly with an Egyptian plate of appetizers (hummus, falafel, cheese, olives etc.). Initially when they brought the food to my room (drinking in room is preferred if you are female alone drinking alcohol) they also brought a different bottle (chardonnay based and sweet). I sent it back and went to explain the difference. Worried the translation broke somewhere. I found out they were out of the bottle I wanted so I went back to my room to enjoy the sunset over the pyramids. About 30-60min later the hotel manager knocked on the door and had the Sparkling wine I wanted and the food. It was perfect. He apologized and he had taken upon himself to drive his own personal car and find a liquor store somewhere in Cairo that sold this bottle. WOW!! Amazing Customer Service. As a single female solo traveler I can honestly say this was the best Customer Service I had received in a long time and hope he gets a raise. As an aside Cairo is safe and overly friendly and feel if you are female wondering if you should come to Cairo don’t hesitate just do it. Stay here overlooking the pyramids on your balcony and celebrate with Dry Sparkling Wine and Appetizers. You will have an amazing moment.

The hotel was clean and we had a great time escaping the daily routine. But I think they should take more precautions regarding the Covid-19, there are no sharp restrictions for wearing masks or gloves, for example the security guards and some workers were not wearing masks specially by night.

As for the restaurant, there were no Ethyl alcohol on the tables, moreover we were serving ourselves like an open buffet and this is a big issue as this is actually helping the spread of anything and they should assign a chef for each food type so he can make sure that everything is clean or they can serve the food directly to the tables, also they should cover all the food as some food was exposed to the air.

We didn’t enjoy the pool as we are in winter now can’t blame anyone for this but it will be great if they can add a heater in the future for the guests to enjoy it at anytime.

The room service was great, and there are ethyl alcohol machines in front of the elevators and the main doors but adding napkins inside the elevators and in front of every main door is very important and also adding ethyl alcohol and masks inside the rooms is also important.

The rooms are very exposed to each other as I can really see the people next door from their balcony and of course vice versa, and the rooms are not soundproof.

Our stay was great overall but I had to mention all the above for the hotel to be more enjoyable, can’t totally blame them specially during the covid-19 struggle.

Pros: The hotel is close to the Great Pyramids of Giza and I would wake up to such a marvelous view. Their breakfast spread is beautiful and so many food options to choose from. Waitresses Mona and Ghada were phenominal as they greeted me every morning smiling and always asked me how I was doing. Bless their hearts. These ladies need to be promoted for sure and have their wages increased. Furthemore, there is a bank close by (2 minutes walk) so you will have access to cash. Housekeeping was always ready to assist and were smiling. A chef ensured that I had good food to eat no matter what time it was when I requested room service.

Cons: My hotel room was not very clean. The carpet was really dirty and has not been shampooed in a long time. Also, there was cigarette smell left behind by the previous guest as the ashtray was still in the room. The shower drain was clogged up and therefore caused water spillout onto the bathroom floor. Hightouch surfaces (door handles, dresser tops, table tops and the sink counter) had not been properly cleaned) as their were finger prints and food left on them. I ended up having to clean the surfaces myself with my Clorox disinfecting wipes and 99% rubbing alcohol that I brought with me. The bed comforter had a big yellow stain on it. I understand that not everyone has the same definition of cleanliness, but hygiene needs to be stepped up even more so during to COVID-19. In addition, the hotel could have enforced wearing masks while in the hotel lobby and at the breakfast buffet. The Movenpick Hotel in Aswan will not allow anyone to walk around their hotel or enter their dining areas if not wearing a mask. They also take your temperature and they continue to make business while enforcing their rules.

This property has so much going for it and I only really have one complaint and I'll get to that in a minute.

We had requested the hotel send a driver to pick us up at the airport since we arrived late at night, 50 USD. We were fortunate they sent Hany (Honey) Ahmed, he proved to be a wonderful ambassador of the city and made the chaotic arrival into Cairo pleasant. We wished we could have enjoyed his tour services more while there but had already booked all our tours with another company.

The security here is exceptional. No cars allowed near the property without first being questioned by armed guards, canine patrol around the vehicle and an occasional search of the trunk.

The common areas of the hotel, clean and elegant. The pool, large and beautiful with attentive service for towels and beverages. The main restaurant, Lotus, provided an amazing assortment of delicious options for breakfast and an attractive menu for lunch and dinner. We had most of our dinners and lunches at Zoser Bar and IL Gardino on the property as their menus suited our tastes better.

We had booked a room with a pyramid view and balcony. The view overlooked the pool with the pyramids in the background. It was very pleasant to wake up to that site in the mornings. The temperatures in the 100's made spending much time on the balcony a bit prohibitive. The room itself was spacious and nicely appointed if not just a bit tired. Loved the shower even though it flooded the bathroom floor when used, we just placed towels to block the water from escaping. The bed linens were crisp and white, but the pillows were flat and needed to be replaced badly.

During our entire stay, all the staff were incredibly helpful, engaging and pleasant. We needed a Covid test for our ongoing journey and they arranged for someone to come to the hotel and do the test $150 each for a PCR. Steep but, efficient for our needs.

So, let's get to the disappointing part of the review. Traveling during the days of Covid require extra special attention to cleanliness. Sad to say, we didn't see that practiced in our room. It wasn't just dust which you can expect in a desert. The floor hadn't been vacuumed in quite some time as there were pieces of dirt and fuzz-balls on the carpet even after we requested the front desk ask housekeeping to vacuum. The handles of the door to the balcony was encrusted with black handprints and the curtains at the door thick with dirt and stains. as were the chairs on the balcony.

That being said, we did enjoy our stay for four nights.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We chose this hotel because my daughter particularly wanted to have a room with a view of the pyramids. Here are the pros and cons of our stay:

Pros - Excellent location for a view of the pyramids and it was lovely to eat breakfast while looking at the pyramids.
Loved the swimming pool bar area because the staff were excellent
Food in the pool area was excellent
Good size bedrooms with interconnecting rooms
They allowed an early check in

Cons - As our rate didn't include breakfast, we were offered the buffet breakfast @ $15 per person per day (pppd), which we declined because we thought it was excessive. Instead, we ordered room service and paid EGP 195 pppd including tax and service, which is approximately $6 pppd (or £5 pppd).
There was a terrible noise in our bedroom, which we reported to reception. Nobody came back to us and the noise continued throughout our entire stay.
The bath and shower plugholes were blocked in both bedrooms, so you had to have a quick shower. When we reported this on our departure, the receptionist grumbled that we should have told them and they would have fixed it. Needless to say, given that the noise in the bedroom was never addressed, we didn't see any point.
Bedroom carpets are not hoovered between stays.
If you do not wish to have housekeeping knocking on your door before 9am, put out the "Do not disturb" sign.
When we asked about using the Spa, we were told it was under construction.
Swimming pool not heated

We ate in the Italian restaurant and the food was average. We did not eat there again and ordered room service instead as the hotel restaurant didn't appear to be serving non coach party people.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but this was mainly because of the view of the pyramids and the food/service at the pool bar.

The hotel has seen much better days I should imagine. It is barely a 4 star hotel and definitely not a 5 star. I booked directly and hoping by doing so, would be allocated a better room compared to using an agency or another hotel booking app. I booked the Pyramid view Deluxe room and was given a ground floor, foul smelling room with a view of a crane and the tip of a Pyramid. Don't be fooled by the photo they use on their website as an example. It appears to be photoshopped. After complaining, I was moved to a higher room with a slightly better view but twin beds. The housekeeping put the beds together, not exactly the king bed I had requested when booking. If you are conscious of the sanitation protocols then this is not the hotel for you. Masks are worn around the chin by staff and guests alike. In fact, the guests serve themselves from the buffet without facecoverings, for me personally a very uncomfortable situation.
I had dinner at the hotel which was below expectations for a 5 star hotel. The hotel is located close to the pyramids but there is nothing else around. This property could be good for guests who are happy not to leave the hotel or perhaps when the new museum opens but anyone hoping to see Cairo would be better off downtown.
The hotel website is flawed, I ended up booking three rooms and tried to advise the hotel via email but received no response, I therefore had to call to cancel the other bookings as well as request the King bed. There was a promotion for new members enrolling in their programme but when you add breakfast to this offer, it is actually more expense than booking the standard options, misleading?
I had considered booking my last night in Cairo with the same chain but clearly after such disappointment opted for Kempinski which is a proper 5 star hotel.

We arrived late at night and were thrilled to be able to see 2 of the Giza pyramids from our window as well as the huge beautiful new museum still under construction. But, though we were quite jet lagged from 2 long flights, we didn’t sleep well because it’s loud! The A/C fans seem to roar no matter what setting you select, and you can’t leave the patio door open to catch a breeze because the traffic is non-stop.

In the light of day, I could see that the carpets were quite dirty and don’t appear to have been vacuumed in quite a long time. The drapes were also grimy.

The dining room buffet offered a nice variety of middle eastern food, delicious and attractively presented. However at breakfast we had to search out a wait person each day to get any coffee since there is no self-serve option. We had to pay for a bucket of ice that we requested for our room.

On our last day the key wouldn’t work, and we had to wait at least 20 minutes for them to send someone up to fix it so that we could get in - after touring all day we were hot, tired and dusty and didn’t appreciate being kept waiting. Though we reported it several times, the phone in our room didn’t work, even after a maintenance guy came and fiddled with it. These cleanliness and service issues really detracted from our experience.

It is incredibly difficult to find a hotel in a country such as Egypt that will redefine hospitality. By the 2nd day ? The staff addressing you by first name, welcome to the Steigenberger Cairo pyramids hotel. At first ? Security might alarm you with gates and dogs sniffing your vehicle, but in consistency with your location in the world ? You understand very quickly. The staff at the property are magnificent, from front desk to housekeeping to restaurant to concierge, the rooms and property are fantastic, clean, well appropriated, and again ? The service is top notch.

Don’t go the expecting Ritz Carlton or Four seasons, neither of those hotels could provide that feeling of family needed when traveling abroad.

The location is ideal for visits to the Pyramid complex or the new Egyptian museum opening sometime in 2021. You will find that the Egyptian people are superior with the ability and genuine need for politeness, gratitude, knowledge and their true love for visitors

You find yourself shaking hands upon arrival and hugging on your departure, with sadness in your heart.

The food and breakfast buffet was the top of the world, drinks available, 24 hours room service, perfection on so many levels. All of this in a new COVID era.

I miss them all already as I sit in my home in Los Angeles but I will visit again, I will stay there again...my new family with Steigenberger hotels !!
