The Budapest Marriott Hotel receives accolades for its exceptional service, with a team that goes above and beyond to ensure guest satisfaction. Its coveted location offers convenient access to attractions and breathtaking river views, a highlight for many travelers. I have stayed here many times and have always loved this hotel. Although the exterior of the building is ugly, the rooms are very nice and well designed, plus they all have great views of the Danube river. For more information, be sure to check out my other review for the Marriott. Regarding this trip (pre-COVID), here are some positives: there are 2 USB chargers on each side of the bed, plus 2 sets by the couch, there is a switch to operate the blackout shade on the windows, you are provided two bottles of water daily and an electric kettle with tea/coffee, plus a stocked fridge. I didn’t use the fridge except to put a ziplock bag of ice in it. The bathroom shower has great water pressure with an adjustable height shower head.To operate it, you press buttons to make the water hotter or water pressure stronger. The bathroom also has a magnifying makeup mirror which is nice (but it is not lit separately). They also have a good sized workout facility - so be sure to bring your gym clothes. As I mentioned before, all rooms face the Danube, but if you want the best view, be sure to ask for a room facing the castle, mine faced the left side of the Danube which is not as pretty. One disappointment is that you no longer get lounge access as a gold members. This is one of the main reasons I have always been loyal to Marriott. Previously when staying at this hotel, I have always had lounge access. I’m guessing this changed with the creation of the Bonvoy brand or maybe I was always being upgraded to an executive floor. Either way, this was really disappointing as it was the only reason my group (3 colleagues) chose the Marriott. Next time I will try the Four Seasons. I have always loved the Marriott due to my access to the lounge as that is where I would have a light breakfast daily. Since I no longer had a breakfast option, I decided to try the breakfast buffet downstairs. It was crazy expensive - something like $35USD for the full buffet. We therefore got the cheaper option which was still very expensive for just fruit, cold cuts, and pastries. If you also don’t have lounge access and you want a cheaper alternative for snacks and soft drinks, there is a small store opposite the parking lot in the back of the hotel. Their prices are very reasonable and I even bought chocolate bars to take home for my kids. Another annoyance, was despite always having the AC on (never the heat), the coldest I could get my room was 68 degrees F, but it never felt like that and was VERY warm at night. Seems like I was getting heat from other rooms. Most likely I will stay elsewhere in the future (but the magnificent view from the bedrooms is very tempting ... ).

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and decided to stay again because of the beautiful Danube view and our precious great experience. We arrived at night and our breath was completely taken away by the view of the castle, the chain bridge and the Danube from our room window. The room was beautiful and clean. WiFi was good too. The only issue we had with the room was our sofa bed. We were a party of 3 so we had to get an additional bed, which was probably the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. I am usually not such a picky person when it comes to beds, however with this sofa bed I could physically feel the hard springs stabbing my body all night. I spent the following day facing the worst pain in my neck and shoulders - not great when you want to spend your day actively discovering the amazing city. If you are traveling with more than two people and are planning to get the extra bed, be careful!

In terms of service: reception staff were always kind and helpful, whereas the breakfast restaurant staff were not always the friendliest/ most helpful. We, along with many others, wanted to eat breakfast outside. We told the staff where we were sitting, however were not given cutlery (which we had to get ourselves...in an upper class restaurant like this...) or asked for our coffee orders, unless we continuously bothered the staff. The breakfast collection was pretty good, but would have appreciated some variation (3 days of the same food got a bit boring). We were also surprised at the fact that it was a buffet (we hadn’t encountered a buffet since the pandemic) and that many of the staff weren’t wearing a mask or were wearing one incorrectly (putting a mask on your chin doesn’t do much..). Maybe we are hygiene freaks, but I think it’s a bit worrying to be in a hotel, which is a hub for people from all over the world, to not have strict hygiene rules at this time in the world. The last issue we had was that I encountered a moldy muffin, a sour and weirdly sizzly canned pear, and a pretty big pebble in my oatmeal. A multinational corporation such as Marriott should really not have such issues..

Although the hotel is beautiful and the view is so worth the experience, I feel that the hotel needs some immediate health and safety reconsiderations and hospitality training for some of the staff. As much as I would love to stay here again, I may have to rethink my future stay in Budapest.

Excellent hotel! We booked an executive room on the high floor with M Club Lounge access. You can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the lounge. I would recommend the breakfast and the dinner. For lunch, it was normally soup and some crackers or chips with dips and pastries. But there is a lot of food for breakfast and the "happy hour" food choices could even count as dinner.
Our room was perfect. King size bed, nice size bathroom, tv had channels with english shows, and we had a view of the Gellert Hill and the Elizabeth Bridge. Perfect view at night plus an awesome view of the sunrise.
The hotel's location is great. Walking distance to the Vorosmarty Square metro and the Christmas Market. Walk a little bit more and you'll be at the St. Stephen's Basilica Christmas Market.
Hotel service was great! The cleaning ladies were very courteous and actually happy when we said we didn't need service for the day. They gave us bottles of water every day plus chocolates at night.
If you visit Budapest, we highly recommend staying here. And opt for access to the M Club Lounge. You won't regret it.

This Marriott offers spectacular views of Budapest from a central location in the heart of the city. I thoroughly recommend upgrading to one of their suites if you have the option as it was well worth it for the views and space (see pics). Budapest was probably the most beautiful of the cities we visited for nighttime views.

Most of the tourist places are within easy walking distance with plenty of shopping and restaurants around the area. If you need to go further we used the Bolt App for taxi service as Uber/Lyft don't operate here.

The suite we stayed in was large, clean, quiet, and had almost panoramic views of the Danube, castles, and bridges. There was a small balcony space but given it was winter we didn't use it much expects to take some photos.

The staff was very friendly and professional and we didn't have any problems with language. The "M" lounge is located in the main lobby and provides delicious snacks and refreshments if you have access. The hotel restaurant has a great selection of food in the morning too.

Overall I'd recommend staying here for a memorable experience. Will happily return the next time I'm in Budapest.

Stayed a few nights with conference.
As surely already mentioned, the Hotel is in a prime location right on the banks of the Danube between the historic Chain and Elisabeth bridges.
The Hotel has been designed so as nearly all rooms as possible have a river view, make sure you get a good one!
Check in was efficient but rather cold with no explanation of the Hotel's features.
Room was bland, but super clean and well laid out, no noise from other rooms / corridor at night.
Good lounge and bar area and a huge main Restaurant that did a massive breakfast offering. The staff however were very standoffish. They were there, you just had to ask for EVERYTHING - maybe a cultural style??.
There is a large seating terrace overlooking the Danube which was pleasant to have a drink on and watch the world go by.
If you want a coffee, then there's a Starbucks in the overall Hotel building (but not connected, you do need to go outside). Within a few metres, theres a variety of bars and restaurants out the front of the hotel.
The concierge looked after luggage till a late flight and there was always a queue of both hotel cars and general taxi's available to take you to your destination.
I don't feel the Hotel tells any kind of story about the City or Country it's located in, but if you want a well located, upper scale chain Hotel that provides familiarity and pleasant surroundings, then this hotel will suit you.

From the location to the rooms, to the views and the food, this is truly the best hotel in the city and the only one to consider. However, it was the staff and employees that were the true treasure of this 5 Star ⭐️ hotel.

Sitting on the bank of the Danube River on the Pest side, you are a very short walk to anything and everything Budapest has to offer. The rooms are very modern and extremely clean. I highly recommend upgrading to a Executive M Club access room. Breakfast, snacks 24/7, an amazing multi hour happy hour with practically dinner if you like, beer, wine, champagne, and all spirits to help yourself all evening long. The two ladies that worked in the lounge are true professionals, very beautiful, and never stop working to ensure every guest is fully taken care of.

The breakfast may be the best I’ve ever had in any hotel. Everything you want is available and if there is something you want, they will make it for you to order. I have never seen more beautiful ladies than the employees at this Marriott and the hostesses here are quite nice to start your day with !

I had a corner room with full glass on 2 side with completely unobstructed views of absolutely everything in Budapest. You should ask for a corner room or suite upgrade if you can. Worth it without a doubt.

This was the best holiday I can think of and I attribute it all to the Budapest Marriott and the staff. The concierge is amazing and will make sure you are well taken care of. Even the wonderful lady in the gift shop will sell you the Metro tickets (same price, no up charge) and chart your path to get you to where you want to go.

There is NO negative experience whatsoever to write about. This stay was pure perfection in every way. Thank you Budapest Marriott for making Christmas 2021 my most memorable ever. You are the best.

It’s hard to have coffee here. In room, the instant coffee provided is substandard, espresso machines are the new normal at this class of hotel. Also, in both of our rooms, there were no spoons or any other stirrers available. Our lattes at the breakfast restaurant were lukewarm at best: a shot of hot coffee into a cup of cold milk. When we asked, the waitress said that they normally do lattes with hot milk. Well…

We had chosen rooms facing the castle and I think the few Euros more than for a southbound Danube view were worth it. Except for those coffee issues, everything was fine. Rooms are not huge but smartly designed, clean and comfortable.

The Marriott and nearby Interconti probably have the most desirable location in town: central and with a great view. Keep in mind that the Chain Bridge is closed for renovation until late 2022 which impacts views and logistics (detour to castle district). The Marriott was surprisingly quiet since the road between hotel and Danube is limited to trams and pedestrians.

We stayed as a family over new years and had a wonderful time. We opted for the executive rooms and had access to the lounge. The lounge has a good array of food at breakfast, smaller plates (like soups etc.) at lunch and then a substantial offering for dinner. There are drinks offerings all day with a range of alcoholic beverages available in the evening.

On NYE, we found the lounge very overcrowded for the number of room eligible to use the lounge and were squished, sharing chairs with other groups. As no one was checking who was allowed entry into the lounge, a few people were loitering outside the door, waiting for someone who had paid for an executive room with a key to go in and then tag along at the back and make use of the perks.

The executive rooms are located on floors 10 and 11 as I can remember and offer fantastic views of the Danube and the Castle. Room service was reasonable and we ordered from the meu a few times: service was quick and the food was excellent.

I used the gym almost daily. It was large with a good offering of equipment, although some people, as in most places, liked to hog the treadmills for hours upon end. The gym also has great views of the river and the staff on reception were very courteous.

Location is fabulous and it is easy to access most areas of the city. There is also a tram stop a short distance away.

The Budapest Marriott was an excellent location to see Budapest. It is extremely easy to get to either Buda or Pest. The rooms were comfortable and consistent what you would expect from a city Marriott hotel. The executive lounge was extremely nice with both indoor and outside seating. Also, the balcony offers almost 360 views of the city. The breakfasts and the evening snacks include a variety of options that will satisfy most guests.

Only downside was that I had dinner at the Liz and Chain restaurant in the lobby, and I think the chef may have been on vacation because the food was not very good. (as it seems like it was rated highly by others) It looked like they had a nice selection of drinks, so maybe food would have been better with a few drinks.
