We were at the Abbey Inn this past weekend to celebrate my Father-in-laws 80th birthday with the family. We rented the whole facility and it was perfect. The classical architecture mixed with the modern art was lovely. Each room was perfect and fit our needs perfectly. I am somewhat disabled and they had facilities that met my every need from the well equipped bathroom to the elevator. Bruce and Bill catered a special meal for our family in the music room on Saturday night. The food was delicious we had salmon and pork. They also had a cake made for his birthday. We loved hanging out in the parlor and stayed up late each night visiting. Breakfast each morning was lovely in the downstairs breakfast room and we even got to say hello to the 2 dogs that are on property. Bruce directed us to 2 different retaurants in Alexandria that were excellent. We will be back, it was such a wonderful stay and Bill & Bruce made us feel so welcome and they were so helpful. I am very grateful for the attention to detailed they showed our party and I hope they realize that they made our trip wonderful.

To find the Abbey is not hard but it is in a place that you will enjoy if you prefer quiet. What a neat stay. We lounged in one of the oppulent living rooms for most of the eve.

The rooms are a tad crammed for a lrg person (like me) but the beds most comfortable.

Breakfast was perfect and our Indian host was funny and very engaging. We met some fine people fro North Bay.

A place most will enjoy

We were looking for a B&B in the are of Cornwall, Lancaster, Alexandria area where we were coming to do some sightseeing and cycling. We finally decided to try the Abbey Inn. Located a little out of the way in Glen Nevis. What a lovely surprise it was. A former convent and residential school among other things. 101 years old. 8 rooms, some with ensuite. Comfortable and quiet. A wonderful warm welcome from the owner who gladly give us the grand tour and the history of the place. A tasty warm breakfast before our departure the next day.

My son and daughter in law were getting married in Lancaster. Although the drive back to Montreal after the reception would have been relatively short for my wife and I we decided to see what accommodations were available locally. We stumbled upon the Abbey Inn. It looked interesting - a 100 year old converted -surprise surprise - Abbey) so we booked a room. Good choice as it turned out. Although the Inn is a few kilometers outside Lancaster it was close enough for our purpose.
The room was large, clean and comfortable. Bill, the host was courteous and Biju, the morning cook (the included breakfast was stellar - great coffee, fruit, muffins, wonderful jam and cooked to order scrambled eggs) took time to give us a tour of the building.
Playing the harpsichords and baby grand was an added bonus although I'm not sure my wife and grand daughter enjoyed my music as much as I think they should have.
I would highly recommend the Abby Inn!

My wife and I needed to find a place near Alexandria, and the choices are very limited in the area. At first we were a little hesitant, because the price seemed so cheap. But we were very happy with our choice! The place is an amazing old building with new modern rooms (albeit a little small), very clean, well maintained, super quiet, and run by very friendly, helpful, and interesting people. Breakfast was very good and in a great environment to meet the other 2 guests that were staying too. We highly recommend the place - I don't think it will be a secret for long!

Our friends and family rented this whole place out for New Year’s Eve.

Nothing but positive things to say.

The owners where amazing and gave us a quick rundown of the property and where things were located.
Showed us to our rooms and the kitchen.
After that the kids and us had the run of the place to explore and have some drinks.

When supper was ready the dinner bell was rung and to the dining room we went.

Location is beautiful , food was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Inn very much. Bill & Bruce are tremendous hosts. The setting is peaceful and the breakfast is plentiful. If you're traveling anywhere between Montreal and Toronto, and you want an overnight stay just off the main highway, the Abbey Inn is a gem.

A well kept, older Manor of 10,000 square feet set into the quiet country side. You are greeted at the door by your host Brian and given a tour of the many rooms. With three levels there are quiet areas where you can relax or if you wish sit outside in one the garden patio areas. The full country breakfast is geared to the individual needs of the guest and the food never runs out. There are two elevators and the home accommodates anyone with special needs.

Our rug-hooking group rented the entire Abbey for a three day retreat. We had the great room as our work room, and left our projects spread all over the place for three days. We went to the living room for happy hour before dinner every night, relaxing around the fireplace. The meals were served with grace by our happy smiling server. Three meals a day, all cooked by a wonderful chef who accommodated my dietary restrictions with ease. Comfy beds, real hand made quilts. Private ensuite bathrooms. If you ever wanted to own an inn/spa/retreat, this one is for sale, completely furnished, and with a full slate of bookings for the coming year. My only regret is I didn't have the nerve to try out the grand piano in the great room.

For our 2016 road trip to the east coast we decided to stay in as many B&Bs as possible. The Abbey was the 1st one on our list and turned out to be a very positive point of reference for all the other B&Bs we stayed in. While the outside of the building is in need of some TLC, no complaints about the room we stayed in or the services, including breakfast, provided by the owners. Both the owners by the way are very accomplished individuals and more then willing to share the history of the building, which is very interesting.
We were amazed how clear the night sky is in this area. The area is so peaceful and quiet, a total 180 difference from what we experience every day in our home town.
