We have stayed here before and although it is only a 3 star hotel it is perfect for our stay before and after our cruise and is excellent value. You can just walk if you want with your suitcases to the shuttle bus terminal at the port which takes you to your cruise terminal for check-in. Giuseppe, the Manager, is such a nice person and is so helpful. He has a great sense of humour ! He couldn't have looked after us any better. Luigi on Reception was also very friendly and helped us with our cases up to our room which we really appreciated. We stayed for 3 nights before the cruise and 2 nights after. Our room was very comfortable and was cleaned every day and the towels were changed daily. We have got to know a few excellent seafood/fish restaurants which are very good value and have first class service. Looking forward very much to our next stay next year !

We were looking for a place to stay close to the port the night before our cruise. Hotel Traghetto was perfect and less expensive than Motels near home. We were met by Giuseppe who upgraded us because a better room was available. Bellman took our bags to the room before we realized he had taken them. We were on the 4th floor with a terrace overlooking the cruise port. We talked to Giuseppe about places we had seen on TA and he guided us to the closest and best. He was right! Next morning the free breakfast buffet was just what we needed, especially the cappuccino. While it is less than 1/2 mile to the port it is not walkable, Giuseppe arranged for a cab to pick us up for a reasonable price, This is a place we WILL return to when next we are in Civitiveccia!

This quaint hotel is perfect for pre and post cruise accommodation as it is situated so close to the shuttle bus terminal.
When booking Giuseppe was most helpful and provided all the information we required and also arranged the taxi transfer from the airport to the hotel.
On arrival we were given a map of the town and suggestions on where to eat, excellent advise.
We stayed in 402 which has a terrace with a view towards the port so you can see your ship dock. Efficient air con and spotlessly clean.
The continental breakfast choices were varied and great quality with hot drinks made to order.
All the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.
We were also allowed to store our luggage post cruise to spend a few hours in the town before returning to the airport.
Very enjoyable stay and next time we cruise from Civitavecchia we will definitely use this reasonably priced hotel again.

This hotel is perfect for a night before a cruise. The shuttle to the cruise port is just across the street by the pizza parlour beside the hotel. The room was clean and had a refrigerator. The ac and wifi worked well. They have amazing staff including the owner who is so friendly and accommodating.
Tips. Not sure if all rooms have a balcony but you can request one.
There is a grocery store about a 4 minute walk from hotel. When you exit hotel just go straight. Great prices for wine, beer whatever you want. Good selections too.
We walked from train station about 20 min. The cab drivers outside the train station were asking 25 euro for a 5 minute car ride. Crazy.
Breakfast was good. They have amazing cappuccino and espresso.
Great pizza place just beside hotel.
Lots of locals. You need to speak up and choose your pizza slices. Great variety. We took it back to hotel and had it on the balcony with a bottle of wine from the grocery store.
Ask for a room facing the cruise port.
Highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed for two nights before a cruise. Definitely not a “five” star hotel but it’s a great place for precruise stay. Could use some updating but I’m not paying for decor but comfort and affordability! You could probably walk from train station to hotel but sidewalks are mostly cobblestone so might be tough with suitcases so I just caught a cab for 10 euros. Room was ready when I arrived. Staff are very warm and welcoming! Breakfast was selection of buns, cake, sliced meat, juice, cereal, some fruit and great cappuccino coffee!! Giuseppe went out of his way to help guests! (PS Giuseppe my friend loves the olive oil I bought at the supermarket). Room was clean, had a small fridge. Cruise shuttle right across street, pizza place next door was great and he also recommended restaurants for dinner. The TV only had Italian stations (which I don’t understand unfortunately) and volume was very low but wasn’t an issue for me as I walked around all day and just watched shows on my Ipad. Internet worked fine for me. Didn’t need AC but the heater worked at night as it was bit chilly. Bathroom was clean. Maybe more towels would be needed for couples but I was travelling solo so fine for me. There are few supermarkets around, one up the street and a few others about 15 mins walk. There is a nice walkway along the waterfront. I would definitely stay again!

It's location is it's major saving grace. The check in desk was staffed with a friendly lady who told us our room wasn't ready yet.( we were there very early) . She did have it ready for us early though and invited us to have coffee while we waited. That the kind of attitude that would bring us back. ( that and the location right across the street from the cruise buses). The room however is another matter. The whole place needs a major refurbish. Calling it dingy is being kind. The shower is only missing the telephone with the slots for coins! It is LITERALLY smaller then a phone booth. The air conditioning, while functional, is antiquated and under powered. The beds are old as are the bed linens. All that said yes I'd stay again but only because of its location. Staying in a better hotel and taking a taxi to the ship may be a better choice.

This hotel is ideally situated close to the cruise terminal in Civitavecchia. The hotel is clean and the continental breakfast is excellent. Although the hotel is badly in need of a facelift and upgrading, the staff do their level best at keeping the place very clean and operational. They are very welcoming and provide great information on access to good dining opportunities in the community. The manager, Giuseppe, assists with anything you might need, including carrying your luggage to the elevator and recommending safety tips when travelling to other communities where we took the hop on hop off bus in Rome. He is awesome and very effective and efficient. We came from Canada and highly recommend this place where we stayed for four days.

This was a great place to stay before my cruise. I don't understand people complaining that the hotel needs refurbishing. The fact that it is an older hotel is why it's such a good deal! It's comfortable and central and the staff is very kind and helpful. What else do you want for such a low price? They even provide excellent coffee, made-to-order, plus fresh yummy pastries and other continental breakfast offerings. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Traghetto in Civitavecchia the night before our Celebrity Cruise. It is a sweet, family-owned hotel with great service, that is in the perfect location for a stay before cruising. The buses that transport the cruise passengers to their ship are in walking distance, directly across the street from the hotel.
The staff are warm and welcoming and make a great cappuccino! When I booked the hotel, there was only one room left with one double bed. I booked it, but asked for a bigger room if one became available. Giuseppe immediately wrote back and kept in touch with me until we arrived. When we got there, we were so happy that the room we were hoping for (third floor with a balcony and two double beds) was ours! The rooms are somewhat basic and old fashioned, but clean and spacious and Perfect for our needs the night before our cruise. At the end of our stay, Giuseppe personally walked us outside to show us where to walk for the transfer to our cruise. Great personal service!

Like many travellers our one night stay was scheduled around our cruise. The staff were very kind and helpful. This hotel is interesting with its 1960s time warp vibe. We think travel is for exploration so it’s wonderful to experience something different. The room was basic and spacious and had everything we needed: a hot shower and clean bed.
The hotel manager recommended a wonderful restaurant within 10 minute walking distance.
We picked up a few snacks and drinks at a local supermarket just 2 blocks away.
Our only complaint was an odour in the hall on our floor. There seemed to be a “plumbing” issue next door. Luckily we didn’t notice it in our room.
Breakfast was fine - cereals, pastries, fruit, cold cuts and processed cheese slices. We loved our coffee. We ordered “coffee” so were surprised to be served a specialty coffee/latte. It was delicious!
The location is quite convenient and close to the cruise port. We shared a taxi van shuttle with another 2 couples whom we met that morning.
We would recommend for a one night stay.

To reach us from FCO airport, the cheaper alternative to the taxi it’s the train. You have to take a train from Fiumicino Airport to Roma-Trastevere Railway Station (one every 30 min.), then take another train directed to Civitavechia (line to Civitavecchia or Pisa or Grosseto) and arrive at Civitavecchia Railway Station (local trains every 30/40 min., last train around 11 pm). This way takes about 2 hours or more, ask/buy ticket to Civitavecchia. From Civitavecchia’s railway station (there’s just one station) you have to walk for about 1,5 Km, or you can take a taxi (taxi drivers are outside the Station.

I don’t remember seeing a kettle in the room. They did offer breakfast as part of our room rate. Coffee and tea were part of the breakfast. The staff was very accommodating, I am sure they will get you some tea.

Thanks, but I found a private transfer service. It cost much more, but I prefer going directly to the hotel after the long flight.
