Wonderful hotel and great location! Reception was extremely helpful and accomodating. We enjoyed the food at the wonderful hotel restaurant. We also enjoyed the pool (even though too cold to swim), sauna and steam room. Highly recommend for anyone that is looking for a more boutique hotel experience and a short walk away from the center of town.

This is a very good hotel which has a very attentive yet friendly staff. There is another "Portobay" near to it but the Marques appears less pretenious and better for it. The rooms and facilities are of a very, very good standard - and the service levels and general professionalism / friendliness of the staff is outstanding. Breakfast provides an excellent choice of food in the nicely laid out resturant, and the dinner choices are mainly aligned to an Itailian theme. The food we had was very acceptable with great service. When we visited, the two Portabay hotels in the location each gave an incentive (free pud/ or glass of wine) to use each others resturant and we tried both (offers are not surprising as there are so many good eating places in Lisbon). The other Portobay food was also very good but noticably the atmosphere was much more formal and nowhere near as cordial as at the Marques. So, the Portobay Marques certainly proved good for us, It is easily within walking distance of the main places to visit and the staff will soon make sure you know where to go, and how to get there. This hotel, service, rooms, location was excellent. We got a cab from the airport for 15 euro and arrived before our room was ready. We completed the paperwork and left our cases and after our day out they were waiting in our rooms when we got back early evening. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They helped us out with maps and showed us the locations of everywhere we planned to go, they taught us some basic portugeuse too. The hotel is about 2 minutes from the metro at Marques de Pombal and you can also walk down towards the main tourist area. The bar/lobby is combined and we had a few drinks in the evening before heading to our room, comfy seats and it all looks very nice. It was just being dresssed for Christmas. Our room had a comfy bed with 2 side tables, a built in vanity with minibar,complimentary bottle of water on arrival a safe in the wardrobe and a large bathroom. The shower was very powerful and a hairdryer provided. The rituals toiletries are so good i've since bought some. I also appreciated the bathrobes. We had a very quite room and were never disturbed. We had breakfast included (otherwise it's 13-15 euro per day depending on if you pre arrange), the choice was extensive, hot and cold, yoghurt, fruit, meat and cheese and extensive baked goods with several breads, donuts, muffins, croissants etc. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, our friends have re-booked and we will be coming back.

We enjoyed our 5-night stay at this attractive PortoBay hotel in Lisbon. The location is perfect. Not too far from the city centre and quite peaceful. You can walk along the fashionable Avenida de Liberdade and may sights are within walking distance. Alternatively you can use the inexpensive public transport facilities or take a taxi. The hotel itself is super. Professional staff, good breakfast, a nice Italian restaurant on site, nice and well-equipped relatively small rooms (we booked a standard room). The small rooftop pool is surrounded by deckchairs; a perfect place to relax after a busy day. All the PortoBay hotels that we’ve stayed at have met our expectations. Definitely recommended!

We stayed for a 4 night trip & the hotel is in a very central location convenient for several top tourist destinations either via uber, walking or hop on hop off bus. Our room was small but comfortable enough. The hotel benefits from a nice rooftop terrace bar although the 'pool' in reality is really the size of a plunge pool. There is a gym although the steam room/jacuzzi where out of action when we were there. Breakfast was very good, plenty of selection in the spacious restaurant area to the rear. The staff were lovely and very helpful in recommendations as to where to visit & as we celebrated a birthday, a bottle of sparkling wine was left in our room, which was a very kind gesture. All in all a very nice hotel, good value for money and very friendly staff. Recommended.

We enjoyed 5 nights in this beautifully furnished, impeccably clean hotel and were amazed by the excellent service. Joanna at the reception went out of her way to help us find the starting point for our bus tour, and all the waiters, doormen and cleaning personell were friendly and at the ready to make our stay wonderful. The breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of fresh foods. The pool area is small but just enough for a cool down after a hot day in the city. The location is directly at a Metro station and near many bus stops, getting you wherever you want to go fast. We upgraded to a suite to enjoy the view of the quiet, cul de sac street in front of the hotel lined with trees. The only down side: Although there are nice seating arrangements to breakfast outside on the quiet side street, it is not advisable to eat there, sind the pigeons attack the leftovers on a table in a group as soon as the guests stand up to leave - faster than any staff could respond. In the evening the pigeons are not around, thank goodness. Thank you PortoBay Marquis for a lovely stay to remember!

The staff is the best. Because this hotel is small, they know you and are so friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a delicious breakfast and we also ate there 3x for lunch or a dinner (pizza and pasta). This hotel is only a short ride away from the Baixa/Chiado area and Bolt rides were typically only 3-5 EUR so it was nice to come back to a quiet street after touring or going out to dinner. We stayed in a family room which had two adjoining rooms with twin beds in one and double in the other; separate doors but a common entry door. We had a minor maintenance issue day 1 with the shower and it was resolved immediately. Hotel wifi worked well. Rooms were very clean. Included a kettle and coffee/tea, mini bar. Cozy sitting area and bar in the lobby. Utilized rooftop pool and sauna during our stay as well. The plunge pool is small but refreshing on a hot day. Only suggestion for improvement is to get more lighting in the rooms and a wedge to prop the door open when you wanted to keep both rooms open to go in between. Also I don’t know if the layout is the same but as FYI the bigger room with more cabinets for storage and space was the room with the twin beds where the kids slept so we put all of our suitcases in the cabinet and used some of their shelves and we were therefore going back and forth between both rooms a lot. Throughly enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend.

I rate this hotel a 4.2* overall. Sauna/ Steam bath = 2/5 Rooms = 5/5 Staff = 5/5 Location = 4.5/5 As our stay was short there wasn't enough time to test everything the hotel had to offer - the breakfast for e.g. But we used the sauna and it was unfortunately very underwhelming. Sauna and steam baths should (imo) be situated separately from gyms and have a relaxing atmosphere with places to lie down after the sauna. Staff were super friendly - one of the best I've met so far. My husband and I were given a room upgrade to junior suite and given champagne and cookies and muffins to welcome us - Occasion was honeymoon (sort of but just one night). We're planning a proper honeymoon to Madeira and will definitely stay in a Portobay hotel!

Lovely welcome upon arrival. Slight confusion as the receptionist asked if I'd stayed there before and I thought she meant THAT particular hotel so I said No but later realised she meant had I stayed at any PortoBay hotels which I had. I only realised this when other family members had a free drink whereas we didn't. Initially I was quite disappointed with the room as very dark and dingy and the ceiling was low - this was an upgrade! Not much room to move around but the bathroom was excellent. I know in City Centres the rooms tend to be smaller but with the right lighting and lighter carpet it would make a huge difference. No view of anything but a wall which doesn't help light coming in but at an extra cost you can get a street view but family members said their street room view was noisy whereas ours was very quiet. On city breaks I'm not bothered about views as we are hardly in the room but not keen on it being so drab but we got used to it. The photos on here do not represent the room we had. Having said that all other aspects of this hotel we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant which surprisingly was very reasonable priced, the same as eating out, the reception/bar area was nice to relax in upon our return and the actual location was ideal for our planned itinery.

Avoid. They put me in a room which was right next to a very loud ventilation unit and it was difficult to sleep. They should have informed me when I booked that it would be noisy (there are other complaints on expedia about noise) but they decided instead to make a quick buck.
I mentioned to staff. One of whom forgot about it. The other informed me there was only one other room available but that was just as bad.
I would strongly recommend either avoiding this hotel or calling before you book to guarantee that you don't get the noisy rooms.

As soon as your dissatisfaction was reported to reception in the early morning, the team started looking for alternatives, which were given to you that same day, but due to the fact there were no more contact from you, the room change unfortunately did not occurred. The Front Office team it is always concerned with our guests comfort and they contacted you again on the following day to assure you did not wished to change anymore and remain at the same room.
