During our time in Lisbon, my wife and I quite enjoyed our stay at Altis Avenida Hotel. It is in a great location within walking distance of historical sites, monuments and restaurants; the iconic Rossio Train Station is directly across from the hotel.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating from the gracious early check in to the fast and easy check out. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean bathroom with robes and a nice view of the area around the Monument to The Restorers located on the Avenida da Liberdade. While the rooms have a modern updated décor, there are touches of a classic hotel such as the thick wood railings in the stairways to the gilded fixtures in the bathroom. The hotel has a restaurant on the 7th floor which includes both indoor and outdoor seating with great views of Lisbon.
This was a great “home” during our time in Lisbon.

We stayed here recently after our 7 day stay in Cascais, we had hoped to spend more time in Lisbon but because of the quarantine we had to fly back early. We arrived early to hotel Avenida palace and were warmly welcomed by the staff and although early we got an early check in as well as an upgrade, that was really appreciated. We were allocated room 503 which was very well appointed and had a very comfortable bed and great pillows, we had a slight problem with the tv which was rectified very quickly. The location is excellent and perfect for a stroll around Lisbon with the surrounding area being relatively level , the hotel has a beautiful sun deck and a really nice restaurant and breakfast area, the breakfast in the morning was delicious and plentiful and was served to our table by friendly staff. We felt really safe here with first class precautionary measures in place with plenty of hand sanitizers around the hotel, unfortunately our stay was only one night but we hope to return in the future for a longer stay.

Dear Bordermax, To be honest with you, we thougth you have made a comment on the wrong tripadvisor´s hotel page when you refer to Hotel Avenida Palace. We have only realized that you were trully talking about our hotel when you refer our beatifull room 503 spacious and with great facilities, and mainly the rooftop brekasfast sevrved on the 7 thfloor which our hotel is the only that serves breakfast on the rooftop floor. We last visited Lisbon 10 years ago for our Ruby Anniversary and booked this trip through BA Holidays but upgraded our accommodation to a suite, number 517, which was dual aspect with stunning views over Avenida de Liberdade and Rossio. The hotel was very conveniently located near to numerous restaurants and cafes, the station, shops and tourist attractions. Daniel welcomed us on arrival and check in was thorough with requests for confirmation of vaccination and recent test status. Our suite was spotless and modern with very comfortable bed and good lighting. Blackout shades were electrically operated. The bathroom was well lit, roomy with good storage for toiletries and an outstanding shower! The breakfast room, on the top floor with outside seating available if preferred, was socially distanced with all staff masked. Superb selection of dishes, champagne available and eggs cooked to order as required. Staff - the Rooms Manager, Maria Mendez, was most helpful in offering us alternative suites for consideration but truly 517 suited our needs perfectly. Must say the hairdryer was stand alone at the desk in the sitting room, which is more useful than being located in the bathroom. Daniel surprised us with a bottle of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries in our room. This in addition to the complimentary bottle of port! Housekeeping kindly provided large cups and fresh milk daily which enabled us to enjoy Nespresso coffee and tea (with our own teabags!) Overall a great modern hotel with enthusiastic and welcoming staff, who are certainly assets to both the hotel, local tourism and Portugal.

The hotel is very well located, with lovely, spacious rooms, comfortable bed and bathroom. NOTE- easy to get to hotel from airport—Uber (9€); OR take Aerobus airport bus (4€), or metro (1.5€) to get from airport to Restauradores. Restauradores and Rossio metro stop 1 minute away.
Rooms come with robes and slippers, one bottle of water each day, and turn down service each night. Complimentary coffee was nice too. The breakfast was full buffet and very good. It wasn’t advertised, but you could order omelettes and cappuccino. You have to ask for help and waits are sometimes long for coffee. Most of the servers were very nice, except an older gentleman who was quite rude when we asked if he could clean the table by the window. We wanted to sit there because there was a gorgeous view and it was early, so hardly any people were there. We asked politely and did not attempt to hurry him, yet he very angrily told us to sit at another table and even waved us off. We were shocked, found it unnecessarily mean, and was pretty embarrassing when the family seated near looked at us.
Our stay started off wonderfully, with the general manager personally escorting us to our room. He was very friendly and made us feel so welcome. We feel his attitude is what all the staff should demonstrate and hope he will encourage all staff to demonstrate his cordial, friendly demeanor. The concierge helpfully offered restaurant and tour tips on printed handouts as well. Otherwise, we found the majority of staff flat, rarely saying hello or even smiling. It was peculiar.
My husband’s credit card malfunctioned and he had to call his bank by collect call, which means there is absolutely no phone charge. So, he double checked with the front desk how to make the call, but we learned upon check out that the hotel charged 10euro just for using the phone, whether it was a collect call or not.
The location is perfect, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and offers a great full breakfast, so overall it’s a pretty good value. We will definitely stay in the same area next time, but will likely select a different hotel.

We are happy to know that your overall stay was good and that you have enjoyed our prime location in the city center as well our finest rooms and our confortable beds not forgetting also our amazing shining bathrooms. Concerning the incident you had with our seating at breakfast we took good note and we will pass the information to the management F&B team. However we would like to let you know that we always ask our guests for their seating preferences upon arrival at our breakfast room. There are sometimes when the desired tables ( by the window in this case) are not available, so we reccomed other tables to avoid making the guests waiting for the table. We understand some people might be upset but we cannot seat everyone by the window or even on a "dirty" table, as you can understand. As for the extra charge of your husband´s telephone call we would like to let you know that all the phone calls made outside the hotel have a charge. Otherwise, you would have ended up not using your phone and using the hotel telephone for all of your calls during your stay by not spending one cent and giving the hotel a very interesting telephone invoice bill at the end of the month. This hotel is perfectly positioned in Lisbon across from the train station and on the Praça do Rossio. The modern rooms are clean and efficient. The rooftop breakfast was excellent and the balcony gives a great view of the castle and all the way to the sea. My friend and I had a double room which for Americans means two twins together. The room had a desk and two nightstands with reading light. The closet is in a small foyer and was dimly lit but plenty big with shelves, a safe, a coffee bar, and a closet bar. The bathroom had a large, long counter with one sink and a shower stall with great water pressure. Everyone at the hotel was great with the exception of the concierge who did little more than push some guided tours. The ability to walk everywhere from here was terrific. We will stay here again when we are in Lisbon!

The location of the Altis Avenida is perfect with easy access to train, trams, buses, restaurants, and shops, but we found it very quiet inside the room. It's a great place to walk in many directions to sightsee, and the Christmas market at Rossio square was just around the corner. The staff of the hotel was always friendly and helpful. The sleek modern room was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

In January, I had to spend seven days in covid quarantine. Fortunately, I was in the Altis Avenida Hotel, so the isolation was much more bearable. Excellent meals were delivered to my room., and receptionist Andre asked me every day how I was doing. I was also immediately given a different, larger room with a view on the 1 December Square (always something happening), which made the quarantine feel much less lonely. The room was nice and big, with a very nice boxspring, well regulated room temperature, nice bath with a rain shower, soundproof windows that could also be darkened very well. If you are alone in your room for seven days, it is important that you feel at home in a hotel. And that was me in the Altis Avenida,. Staff: thank you very much for the service and hospitality!

The Hotel is located in a central and convenient area of Lisbon. We had 2 rooms, one facing the square and the other facing the side. Upon arrival they had a complimentary small bottle of Port wine in each room as well as some Portuguese pastry called Nata (which was delicious). The rooms were very clean, they had a large free bottle of water every day. The rooms were equipped with everything from bath robes, slippers, iron and board, hair dryer, good quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The rooms were very clean. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, however, we did have brunch every day at a cafe across from the hotel called Fabrica de Nata , which had really good food and surprisingly cheap price wise for what you got (also a very clean place). The staff was extremely helpful, pleasant and genuine. We loved the hotel, it was a great experience.

Approximately 15 / 20 mins drive from the airport which cost €12.00. Can’t fault this hotel it has fabulous interior decor everywhere was extremely clean and tidy we were greeted by the doorman on arrival and even though we were to early for check in we were able to do all the paperwork and leave out bags so we only had to collect our room key when we returned later to find our bags had already been taken to our room, which was in the 5th floor (we had a superior double room) the sound proofing worked we were the first room on the corridor as you came out of the lift and you could barely hear people coming past you had to be silent and listening out for it (think I heard it twice the whole 3 days) I never heard any noise from another room and couldn’t hear the street noise even though we were on a main road, our room was beautiful, both hubby and I slept really well in our queen sized bed, the turndown service was a nice touch as was my name being in the welcome message on the tv and room telephone. The bathroom was stunning with a powerful walk-in shower with toiletries, robe and slippers provided. Hotel is in a fantastic location everywhere was within walking distance including the metro station and bus/tram stops if you wanted to go further a field. Theres a Starbucks in the stunning Rossio Train station across the road. The staff were always friendly and polite they are also very knowledgeable of the local area and happy to provide advice and recommendations if needed. We were always greeted every time we came back into the hotel We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food but we did wander down to the dining area and it has fabulous views of the city as does the sun terrace on the roof you can see the sea in the day and the beautiful views in the evening. Would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it as well as it being great value for money for a 5* hotel in a European city centre location.

I found this hotel to be all I wanted, a really smart but not stuffy hotel. Very friendly staff especially Ricardo. The location could not be better right in the centre of the city great for exploring by foot. Metro station opposite the hotel for going further. My wife and I had a room with a balcony with lovely views of the city where we could watch the hussle and bussle as the sun went down. I could not find any reason to fault this hotel. I think a person would have to be exceptionly fussy to not be totally happy at this hotel.

Hello Bruno, yes it is possible. Just contact the hotel and make a reservation for the rooftop restaurant/bar . When you contact them tell them that it is for a birthday that you would like something special, such as a table outside on the terrace, etc. I'm sure they will manage something you both will like.
