Absolutely PERFECT from start to finish, you’re missing out if you don’t stay at the Memmo Principe Real in Lisbon!
We’re just home from the most amazing 5 Night stay at the Memmo Principe Real.

I work in Hotels myself, so I know what to expect but the Memmo Principe Real surpassed any expectations. It was just WOW & we didn’t want to leave!

Firstly a massive thank you to the incredible team, everyone we met was Happy, Friendly & always delighted to help!
Special mention to Eduardo at Reception who was incredible, he booked us different restaurants and even checked in on us during his evening off to make sure we were enjoying the restaurant he chose, this is the definition of amazing hospitality!
Thank you Eduardo!!!
Also Rafael, Ricardo & Federico at Reception always checked on us during our 5 Nights & were always so helpful! It was lovely to be greeted every day by name, a really lovely touch.
Afonso & Romario in the Restaurant treated us like family each day, and were just super! Serving us drinks & Nibbles by the pool everyday as well as dinner on two nights. Amazing guys, overall the Hotel has an incredible team.

The Food is some of the best Hotel food we’ve had, it was so good we found it hard to leave the Hotel! Lunch & Dinner was so delicious & eating by the pool with the stunning views was such a treat!
The Pool was brilliant, and drinks by the pool are just what you need after a Hot day exploring the city. The Music around the Pool & Hotel was also great for creating a fantastic atmosphere, relaxed & chill favourites!

The Hotel is a hidden oasis in the busy city, extremely good location.
Bedrooms are perfect, & have every detail you need.
The Hotel was spotless, the Housekeeping Team are amazing.

If Memmo had Hotels around Europe, I would become a loyal customer & stay with them everywhere as they really have figured out the true meaning of Hospitality!

Thank you for a fantastic stay & we will 100% be back!!

New York City, New York
I stayed only 1 night at the Memmo Principe Real after 5 nights elsewhere in Lisbon. My first impression was that sitting on Principe Real looking out across the city it is hard to reach except by taxi or private car. You must play off the great view against the inconvenience of always having a steep uphill climb to get back from anywhere on foot. That said the view and nice staff make up for much of the inconvenience. I was upgraded to a city view room so got to appreciate the view in private as well as public spaces. The hotel would probably be best described as quirky. This is certainly not your cookie cutter Marriott. My room was on the smaller side and a bit crowded with its contents which included a king size bed, arm chair, drinks cabinet and dressmaker's dummy. The bathroom was something beyond quirky with a shower entered directly from the main room space and the toilet in what I initially took to be one half of the closet opposite the shower/mirror area. All good for a single occupant but I can see the shower configuration being less ideal for anyone sharing. The shower itself was a bit complicated but really good with handheld and raindrop heads. A nice touch in the main room was all the makings for white port and tonic including a fresh lime and knife set out on top of the drinks cabinet. The only thing missing was the ice and I am guessing that would have been readily supplied on request. There was also an espresso machine and pods but it was not plugged in and doing so involved pulling the cabinet away from the wall to hunt down the outlet. Power outlets were an issue in general. There were none close to the bed except behind the drinks cabinet and as far as I could find only one other which was on the opposite side of the room somewhat obscured by the armchair. Other amenities included a kettle and a safe in the closet section of the toilet/closet combination. The wifi was stable but a bit weak stuttering when trying to stream the Aljeeza news and anything similar. Plenty good enough for email and web searches though.

I had lunch in the restaurant. On the minus side there is a fairly limited menu with expensive main courses. On the plus side I chose instead to have two starters which took a while to arrive, probably because they were being freshly prepared, and were very nicely presented.

The hotel offered a "free" walking tour of the area each morning. I was the only participant because so few people are traveling for pleasure in this strange coronavirus time. The guide, who was very good with excellent English, made it very clear right at the beginning that she was not a hotel employee and that she expected a tip at the end of the tour. It was a good tour lasting 2 hours so I was happy to give a substantial tip but a bit surprised at how up front she was about her expectation.

Overall this is a somewhat odd but good hotel with helpful staff and I would be happy to stay there again.

We stayed three nights at Memmo Principe Real. We were originally booked into their sister hotel at Alfama but that remained shut due to Covid so we were transferred here. And what a nice turn of events! We fell in love with the neighbourhood haha we will definitely be staying in Principe Real on our next trip to Lisbon.

The hotel itself is stylish and well decorated. The rooms are a little small and I'm not sure about the split toilet/bathroom area, but that's nitpicking. The views over Lisbon are exceptional, and especially so at night.

Service was wonderful. When we rang reception at 11pm for mint tea bags, we had freshly brewed mint tea brought to our room. When my husband I went to the pool, one of the staff members came by to drop towels off for us.

The highlight would be the breakfast spread - they no longer have it buffet style due to covid, so everything is table service. Despite it being extremely busy the first morning we were there, the waiters maintained their composure and did their best with all the tables.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet romantic time.

We stayed in a Superior City View room on the 3rd floor. The room has a sort of modern alpine chic look to it, with lovely furnishings. A dedicated walk-in closed cut into the space that would have otherwise been available for the bathroom, which in turned ended up being very crampedand and cannot be used by 2 people at the same time.

We knew all this beforehand but chose this hotel over its 4-star sibling further down the hill for its great location in the Bairro Alto neighborhood.

The only real complaint I have is the implementation of Covid-19 measures at breakfast. Like in all hotels, buffets have been replaced by food being brought by waiters to each table, which makes total sense. However, when waiters bring a wooden plate with charcuterie offerings, they literally bring it down to people's face level, barely 20 cm away from people's mouths, so guests are basically breathing out aerosoles all over meats and cheeses as they tell the waiter what they'd like to eat. I gasped in horror as one guest literally spat all over the wooden board while he was loudly explaining what he wanted to eat.

This could be easily corrected by simply holding the charcuterie plate at a safe distance from guests (say, 1 meter) while pointing to what choices they have rather than shwoing it to them at the face level.

The personnel is otherwise lovely and professional. The next time we're in Lisbon, we'll go back to the sister hotel Memmo Alfama instead, whose rooms are much more charming, with even nicer city views from the terrace. Memmo Principe Real does not justify the price premium over Alfama (typically 100 euro more per night for comparable rooms).

Memmo Principe Real has the most perfect location tucked behind a buzzing and vibrant street so it is peaceful and quiet. the views are stunning and even from the rooms you have a beautiful view of the city, I recommend booking a room with a balcony. the breakfast is delicious, the pool is small but perfect for the size of the hotel. the staff were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel perfectly safe and secure staying there. they are very respectful and careful to ensure you wear a mask and social distancing is in place. the location is walking distance to most places in the city centre we did not get any taxis during our stay. could not recommend this hotel more

Our four night stay at this hotel was perfect. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and courteous, most especially John Martin who went out of his way to help us.
Impeccably clean rooms with beautiful designs and some lovely touches that made us feel welcome, eg, delicious truffle chocolates placed under a bowler hat 🎩 together with a postcard of helpful hints and tips.
Breakfast on the terrace each morning was delicious with a buffet and a nice selection of dishes on the menu.
Location was good too; we walked downhill exploring the best of Lisbon’s narrow hilly roads, then got an Uber back when we were ready to go back for four wonderful nights’ sleep in crisp white sheets on a comfy bed.
Thank you hotel Memmo Principe Real. We hope to return one day.

We had a great one night experience in the Memmo Principe Real Hotel in Lisboa. We live in Lisboa! ...but we just wanted a great experience to celebrate a special date as a couple for one day/night. We loved every minute at the Memmo Hotel, great service, staff, decoration items and amenities, really comfortable and cozy room, great breakfast by the pool with city view… we can feel constantly a great attention to detail. We love this location, right in one of our favorite neighborhoods in Lisboa, the Principe Real area, where we just love to walk around the streets, nice shops and great restaurants. It was good to feel we were travelling away in our own city and have a different perspective and feeling just by staying in a great hotel relaxing, celebrating good moments and exploring like an outsider tourist.

Wonderful hotel with great service. Redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points for a three night stay. Not any Titanium elite benefits to speak of but none were expected since this is a Design property. The room was exceptionally quiet and we appreciated the blackout curtains, balcony, modern design and location. Room wasn’t spacious but was very functional. Complimentary in room port cocktail and fruit dish were nice touches. Ubers are much cheaper in Lisbon than they are in California so we took them everywhere. This location is not very conducive to mass transit from what I could tell.

The Memmo is a small property, so don’t expect early check in or late checkout. I was lucky to get a 1 PM departure.

We didn’t partake of the 30 Euro pp breakfast but did enjoy a pitcher of gin cocktails at the restaurant on the last night in town. We had checked out earlier that day and returned to retrieve bags before our late flight. We availed ourselves of lounge chairs outside as well as electric outlets for laptops. As the sun set, it was the perfect end to our short stay in Lisbon.

Dear log24, What wonderful feedback! Unfortunately, since we are a 41-room property, and thankfully, usually fully booked, it is indeed hard sometimes to provide some of the usual benefits. However, whenever we do have availability, we are more than happy to offer complimentary upgrades and other benefits. And we do always offer some amazing Porto Tonic at your arrival! Thank you for complimenting our bar and the beautiful terrace views around the sunset time. We hope you had a good journey back and look forward to seeing you next time you’re in Lisbon. I originally rated this hotel 3 stars because the property was great; the location was great; the breakfast was great, but my original room was one of the most disappointing rooms I've had over the last few years. After one night, I told them that I was disappointed in the room, and they changed me to a terrific room with a great view. So, make sure you get a room with a view. I prefer the rooms on the ground floor because the doors open up to a patio and grass. My original room was 312. It was one of only a few rooms in the hotel without a view, and it was over the area where cars drive down to pick up guests and turn around. My Marriott status is Ambassador (100+ nights), but I still had to ask for an upgraded room. I was told that room upgrades are not automatic and that you should ask to see if they are available. So, make sure you ask for a room with a view or just book one - the price difference isn't much, so make sure you get a nice view. The location is unique in that you have a great view but are very close to parks, stores, and the street that will take you down to the river. The staff were great and even gave great running directions. The breakfast was awesome, and the architecture and design were all wonderful. I highly recommend the hotel - just not room 312 (which was loud in addition to the lack of view due to cars dropping off and picking up guests below it). I've posted a few photos, and please note the one of 312 to see the difference in the views. Note that rooms are very small, so ground floor rooms feel more open when you can open the door onto the terrace.
