Three couples booked two double rooms at CHF 500 for two nights per couple and a third room for CHF 690 for a room at the attic. We were very apprehensive because of bad reviews of this hotel mainly due to poor cleanliness and smell of Indian food. Upon booking my credit card was debited the amount of CHF 1195.54. This was June 11. I sent queries as to why the full amount was not debited. No reply. I resent the same email several times until June 20 when I copied the Tourisn office of Interlaken. Then they replied that my emails went to spam and that our rooms are indeed ready when we arrive July 4-6.
Upon check in early morning of day 1 we were met by the owner who helped us store our luggage. Now I understand why they have such bad reviews. The owner is not Swiss. I think she was Chinese. Not very conversant in English. Explains also why no replies. She was understaffed.
After a whole day going around Brienz, Rothorn, Geisbach, Iseltwald, and Interlaken, we finally checked in and found our rooms clean and well made up. They have a coin operated laundry at the back area very convenient for us.
Day 2 we left early for Grindelwald and returned late with our rooms cleaned and smelling ok. No bad smell at all.
Day 3 the car we hired to transfer all six of us to Zürich airport was on time. He did not have any issue finding the hotel parking area.
Happy ending for this episode that started with bad reviews and a lack of communications. Next time we shall book early, maybe six months ahead to get the hotel we wish to book with good reviews.

First night: horrible little room with one street level window that opened to back of restaurant kitchens and construction where the construction workers literally were working outside our window-zero privacy. We asked to be moved and the staff was wonderful! They were happy to move us and the second room was nice. It was overlooking the street so street noise, food smells, small but nice!

Our first impression of the hotel was very positive. The reception was a lady who was really helpful and spoke excellent English. We were a bit early so by right she can refuse our check-in. However, she did offer if we'd like a room immediately or wait for our pre-booked room with a better view (same type). I chose to stick with my original room and waited, but I liked the options. Overall the service of the hotel was very good. The location was not far and is in walking distance with luggage to the Interlaken West station. Those who goes up to Jungfraujoch needs only 5 min train ride to Interlaken Ost. The surroundings also offers restaurants with different kinds of food as well as several souvenir shops. Our room was not very big but it had some space for large luggage for two people. We had a slight problem when most of the sockets did not fit our type of converter we prepared. The hotel took care of it really well by offering a loan of the converters by our choice for free and with no deposit required. (normally a certain amount of deposit is required).

One improvement was the smell of the bathroom which was not pleasant for me (but not for my wife). Maybe it's just me ? Breakfast was delicious, with a lot of options and very generous amount. We had wonderful times every morning.

Overall a pleasant stay in Interlaken. We felt safe and was able to relax in this hotel.

As soon as you enter the hotel , the smell all over the hotel is so bad we wanted to leave. As we have paid via Booking.com, we have asked to get a refund, of course our request was declined in a very rood way.
In an effort and hope that the rooms would be in a better shape and status we asked to visit one room.
As the lift was not coming down, we went with a very rood personnel to one of the rooms. We where stand. Dirty, smelly, absolutely terrible.

Beware

On booking this hotel I was looking for something pretty within the Interlaken area for myself and my daughter. I am a seasoned traveller with a lot of experience and have stayed in many hotels ranging from 3* to 5*. As long as the property is clean, functional and provides all the things noted or that I’ve paid for, I’m happy.

I have got to say that this is the worst hotel I have ever been to and the customer service is absolutely shocking.

First of all, when I arrived I had to take a second look at the picture of the hotel I had because it looked nothing like the one advertised. Pictured is a pretty building with what looks like a little cafe outside with pretty umbrellas. The hotel is down a little side street and underneath there is no cafe but two Indian restaurants. The signage says Tandoori restaurant and these signs are mysteriously missing from the pictures. Now, being from the UK I particularly enjoy Indian food but I do not want to sleep above two noisy restaurants and when I went into the hotel the smell of Indian food permeated all the way through the building and into our bedroom which was quite nauseating.

Through the hotel, it was evident that cleaning is not a priority. In fact, I wonder if the carpet has ever been hoovered at all. There were bits of debris everywhere. Shopping trolleys littered hallways along with empty alcohol bottles that had not been removed or cleaned away.
Inside the room it looked nothing like the pictures online and the floor was dirty, there was a stain on the bedding sheets and sticky residue on the doors.
In the bathroom dirty toilet roll had been shoved through the lock hole and the bottom of the shower curtain was black, mouldy and thoroughly disgusting. How the owners can get away with advertising this on a well-known and trusted site is beyond me and how it has got 3 stars is baffling.

I immediately contacted booking.com and sent the pictures. They spoke to a lady on the desk who I went to see and requested a refund. The receptionist said she would have to speak to the manager. I came back half an hour later to find that the manager refused to give me a refund and there was nothing they could do.

Basically, they don’t care. I went through the reviews and found I’m not on my own.

I spent the rest of the night trying to find another hotel as I was not prepared to stay in that state.
I found another 3* hotel which was wonderful, less money and ten times better than Hotel Toscana.

I hope that nobody has to go through what I did and lose all their money on this dreadful hotel. The owners do not care at all and are basically ripping people off. I lost £1500 for 6 days.

I am taking this further as I do not think it is morally right to have this place advertised with false pictures and classed as a 3-star hotel given how dirty and badly run it is and for the prices, they are charging.

We booked a room for 4 people directly from hotel, saw photos online and on their website.
When we arrived room we got was with 3 beds and they put additional “bed” what was a 10 cm thick mattress on the floor!!!
The Room was full of food smell like you are sleeping in the restaurant’s kitchen, all our clothes are now for washing and of course they don’t have laundry service.
When we asked to cancel our booking, because of pure fake advertisement they put, unbearable smell, no ventilation, one bed shortage, the front desk employee was extremely inhospitable. We were told you can leave but we will not reimburse.
Please avoid this horrible place, will save your nerves first of all.
Interlaken is an amazing place, but hotels like this will ruin your whole experience.

This little hotel was in the middle of Interlaken it was great, the young gentleman on reception was lovely snd spoke great English, he interacted and said hello everytime he saw us. The hotel gives you a bus pass which is great. The room was spotlessly clean, the shower was powerful snd refreshing, the beds were so comfortable matress, duvet, and pillow. We would 100% stay here again.

The hotel utterly failed to meet even the most basic expectations during our stay. Despite the digital age, we were left stranded without WiFi, impairing our ability to connect with the outside world and attend to professional and personal duties. Worse still, the cacophony of active construction starting at 7am provided an alarming and unrequested wake-up call, an inconvenience that was never mentioned during our booking process. The absence of a phone in the room further strained our circumstances, making reaching the front desk a hassle, instead of a straightforward task. We also discovered that half the electrical outlets were dysfunctional, rendering many of our personal devices useless. Our attempts to resolve these issues were met with a deafening silence from the hotel management, who only found it appropriate to respond after our check-out. This complete disregard for customer service and failure to maintain necessary amenities was a distinct blot on our stay, casting a negative shadow over what should have been a restful experience.

Hotel is run down and needs some major upgrades. It is old, dusty, dirty and moldy. The bathroom has mold everywhere, the wood floor is broken in so many places that we were never without shoes because of fear of cutting our foot. One side of the bed doesn’t have an outlet so one of us couldn’t charge our phone at night. The hotel location is odd, it’s between two restaurants and easily missed. You only get one key and need the key to lock the door, even when you are inside the room, causing an issue if one person in your room wants to go out and came back late (you need to leave your room key in order to get a key to enter the building after 12am). We asked for another key but that isn’t an option. Our AC worked but our kids didn’t. Shower didn’t drain so we had to shut it off and let it drain as we were showering. Construction was going on the entire time we were there, starting at 7am. Seriously, avoid this place.

Very Untidy,
The room had a peculiar stink, Linen was not clean. The bathroom was dirty.
Construction was going on at the next site, irritating noise. Very bad experience. Not at all worth the rate they are charging. I Will never recommend this at any cost.
