The hotel staff were very accommodating. We were let into our room when we arrived despite it being a couple hours before check-in. The reason I am writing a review though is because of how understanding and friendly they were when we had to leave for a flight early in the morning and realized that the front desk was not opened yet. We left a note asking to charge the card on file but it turned out that we had not given them a card yet so we eventually paid over the phone after we landed that evening. The woman we spoke with was completely understanding and very friendly despite us essentially leaving without paying, so that was very much appreciated. Overall we felt that this was an exceptional place to stay at a very reasonable price and convenient, beautiful, location.
While this hotel is in a little village outside of Interlaken, the boat dock was only a short 5 minute walk as were the buses. On top of that, there was plenty to explore nearby. When we weren't hiking or touring the lake, we visited the nearby church and gardens.
This hotel has no dinner service, but a hotel about 5 minutes away did. On another night, we went exploring and found a little restaurant at which to eat. It wasn't much from the outside, but it had the best fondue out of everything I tried throughout Switzerland.
If you like beautiful views and a peaceful environment, I highly recommend this village and this hotel. I yearn to return there someday.
Pros: 1. The view: it almost felt like the Caribbean with the turquoise-blue water. Definitely request a lake view room! 2. The balcony: it was very big and was relaxing. It showcased the beauty of the lake. 3. Breakfast: Nice spread and delicious. There was a great selection and the terrace was picturesque. 4. The bed: very comfy, modern, clean and relaxing after a long day of kayaking and hiking. 5. The room keys: this was a minor thing, but they have a cool key system when you leave or come into the building. Very unique and something I have not seen before. 6. Price: affordable and well-worth the money we spent to stay here.
Cons: 1. Location: It was hard to find from the riggenberg train station, we asked friendly locals to help us. (Our german classes in school came to good use!) We did appreciate the complimentary bus pass to interlaken since the town is residential and super quiet at night. 2. The receptionist had us waiting about 15 minutes before checking us in to order something personal on the phone. Although, it is not a dealbreaker, it did not give us a good first impression. Afterwards, she was very friendly and pointed us in the right direction to where we wanted to go and showed us the room. 3. The Elevator: it was the smallest elevator I have ever seen, but I was glad that it was there despite the size, so we would not have to lug our bags up stairs!
Overall, I would recommend this place to others and I am glad that we chose this lovely, quaint b&b! Thank you for the great stay, we will hopefully be back soon!
The staff of the hotel were absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back!
We really liked our stay, but if were to come back would definitely pay a little more to go with the lake view room as our mountain view room, although nice view as well, seemed to be smaller with quite a small bed, a little too small for two people in my opinion.
From our perspective it was the most amazing stay you could imagine.
Corinne & Lindsay went out of their way to help us plan our day trips, they gave deep thought and great recommendations - each one better than the other on where to go and what to see.
They gave us not just names of attractions but special coffee places, local restaurants and did it with a smile and a passion that made us feel at home.
Speaking of feeling at home - the atmosphere here is just like you would want - very open, very pleasant and very friendly.
The location is perfect and the rooms are very nice, The view from the terrace is worth a million dollars - just sitting there sipping on something can make one feel amazing.
Our suggestion is simple - if you are staying in Interlakken- this is the place to stay thanks to Corrine and Lindsay!
