The tranquil neighbourhood.

Venice is a fairy-tale of a city with palaces, cathedrals and museums to take your breath away. In our neighbourhood you can get your breath back again. It's a place where you can escape the noise and bustle, experience genuine local life, and feel refreshed. This is a neighbourhood of true tranquillity.

At the heart of the neighbourhood is Hotel Indigo® Venice - Sant'Elena, a converted 1930s monastery where a peaceful inner sanctuary offers further respite from the bustle. Our neighbours include the elegant red-brick Gothic church of Sant'Elena, built by Augustinian monks in the 11th century and known for its lofty landmark belltower.

Hotel's Favourite
Hotel situated in a quiet residential location of Venice with minutes walk from water bus stop. Warm friendly and efficient welcome from Carolina on check in. Hotel spotlessly clean with very quirky décor. Stayed in a Garden Room which was perfect for our stay, with a simple but beautiful garden to enjoy. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was well presented.
Hotel is walking distance to Grand Canal then onto St Marks Square with lovely picturesque scenery along the way to enjoy a Goldala ride with a tour from a friendly Gondalier giving a little history of Venice. Lots of beautiful places to dine and enjoy a nice chilled Aperol Spritz.
Would definitely recommend this hotel if visiting Venice and will definitely be returning.

On the map Sant'Elena looks like it is miles away from San Marco and the centre of Venice but in reality it is only a 25 minute walk along the waterfront or 10 minutes on a vaporetto so, if you a looking for a quiet spot to relax after a full on day of sightseeing, this hotel in a converted convent might be for you. The rooms are spacious and well furnished and appointed and the restaurant/bar area is bright and welcoming. There is also a lovely courtyard garden. Breakfast was great with a good choice of options. Front desk staff were very helpful in helping with water transport and also have the day passes so you don't need to go to a tabac. It is very close to the the football stadium so if Venezia are playing at home it can be noisy/busy. Give the restaurant a miss for dinner and go to the far superior da Pampo a 2 min walk away.

Although this hotel may seem far from central Venice, this gave us an opportunity to walk the entire island(s). Because the hotel is at the far end, we ended up walking from one side to another a few times. We took a private boat to the airport when we returned, which was very efficient but a bit expensive.

The staff was unbelievably helpful with all our requests, they really went above and beyond.

The restaurant/bar is beautiful and serves a great breakfast. Also, the drink selection is great for an evening drink.

Overall highly recommended.

We have just returned from a 4-night stay in this superb hotel. We can't imagine staying anywhere else now on future short breaks in Venice. It was perfection: the staff were wonderful - friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The building and its stylish and comfortable decor were superb. The breakfasts, all bar food and drinks were perfection. Our room could not have been more welcoming, luxurious and comfortable: on the third floor with a lovely view of the garden and side canal. Sant'Elena is an unspoiled, quiet, residential area of Venice but it takes only about 20 minutes to walk along the lagoon side to central Venice. It is extremely well-served by the ACTV vaporetti. In short: a giant thank you to Francesca and all her colleagues for a magnificent experience. You will see us again! In the meantime, we will tell all our friends about you!

We were upgraded to the junior suite upon arrival and although check in wasn’t ready until 2pm, the staff were super friendly and couldn’t be more helpful.
We were recommended different restaurants and offered to join a free membership which enabled us to receive a free welcome drink each which of course we took advantage of!
The rooms were spacious, clean and beautifully designed.
The hotel was not located near the centre, it is a lovely walk to the centre and I would definitely recommend to walk instead of taking the water buses.

We all really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this to every traveller.

Thank you so much for so a wonderful stay.

You would never know that this hotel is part of a large international chain. It was like staying in a small, family run boutique hotel. The staff could not be more accommodating and helpful. Our room was spotless and "refreshed" every day even if you didn't need the bed linen or towels changed. The location is quiet and peaceful (I suspect this may be slightly different on match days if Venezia FC are playing at home!) and is literally a minute's walk from the waterbus stop. The waterbus service is also excellent, but on a sunny day, the walk from the hotel to St Mark's Square along the waterfront (the most direct route) is lovely and takes about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace. If we come back to Venice, I would definitely stay here in preference to a more central location and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Dearest theartfuldodgers, We sincerely thank you for having spent such beautiful words to describe your experience with us. We are vey proud to know that you came back home with a beautiful memory of your stay and this is the best reward for the entire team in addition to the fact that we managed to make you feel at home. We are glad you enjoyed and mentioned the location of our property, highlighting the fact that while it is one the quietest and still authentic areas of Venice, it is only 25 minutes walking distance to St. Mark's square. We hope to welcoming you back soon to your home away from home. Kind regards, Marco Costa Hotel Manager

We appreciated the personal attention, Diamond Elite recognition, Welcome Drinks, Murano Crystal gift and bottle of chilled Prosecco waiting for us in our upgraded high floor premium room.

The hotel’s location away from the tourist-intensive center enables enjoyment of the more real Venice and residential neighbourhoods while being a short Vaporetto ride from the center (or a flat 20-30 minute walk) and the history of the building adds architectural character.

The service was consistently excellent for Bar, Breakfast and Dinner which was surprisingly good value.

Thank you Marco, Carolina and team for the warm welcome and making us feel special.

We look forward to our next visit.

Stayed here for 3 nights while exploring Venice. Hotel recognised my IHG Spire membership on checkin with a lovely upgraded room and drinks vouchers for the bar. The hotel is located in a nice quite location with access to the water bus stop just 2min from the hotel entrance. The hotel was a lovely retreat from the crowds of the city centre and was a lovely location to come back to after a busy day exploring. We used the boats twice if not more each day to and from the city centre - lovely views as your on the boat - we got a 3 day pass which was well worth it and also provide access to the ferry to the island of Burano which we also visited during our stay.

The hotel has a lovely courtyard accessible from the bar/Reataurant which is lovely for a Aperol Spritz in the evening.

The staff were great and always greeted us with a smile and hello as we came and went from the hotel.

Would stay here again on a return visit to Venice.

I can't say enough about the hospitality shown to us by the staff at this hotel. They treat you like you're the only person staying there and want to ensure that your time in Venice is nothing but fantastic and trouble-free! And, they speak fluent English! The lobby fronts the restaurant and bar - gorgeously decorated with a warm ambience. The room was comfortable for two people and very clean. If we are fortunate enough to return to Venice, we will stay here again. The location is away from the noise and crowds, but the shuttle boat stops just outside the hotel and is only a few short minutes away from the departure point to Saint Marks Square.

I stayed here on two separate trips to Venice in 2021; it was so perfect the first time that I returned at Christmas. The staff was very helpful making dinner reservations, helping me navigate the water bus routes, and booking me an appointment at the farmacia for my covid test to fly home in August 2021. It was all very much appreciated as that was my first time to Venice.

The rooms are lovely: very cozy, nicely appointed, and comfortable beds. And the restaurant/lounge in the lobby serves good food and wine, which I took advantage of a couple of times over my two trips.

The area in which the hotel is located is quiet as it is mainly residential. On the map, the location may look a bit far, but you can be in San Marco within 15 minutes by water bus or 30 minutes on foot, and it's a nice walk along the lagoon or through the Castello district.

Why arrive by car? It’s much simpler to use the water busses and water taxis. There is a stop outside the hotel, about 200 yards walk from the hotel.
