About
The tranquil neighbourhood.
Venice is a fairy-tale of a city with palaces, cathedrals and museums to take your breath away. In our neighbourhood you can get your breath back again. It's a place where you can escape the noise and bustle, experience genuine local life, and feel refreshed. This is a neighbourhood of true tranquillity.
At the heart of the neighbourhood is Hotel Indigo® Venice - Sant'Elena, a converted 1930s monastery where a peaceful inner sanctuary offers further respite from the bustle. Our neighbours include the elegant red-brick Gothic church of Sant'Elena, built by Augustinian monks in the 11th century and known for its lofty landmark belltower.

Hotel is walking distance to Grand Canal then onto St Marks Square with lovely picturesque scenery along the way to enjoy a Goldala ride with a tour from a friendly Gondalier giving a little history of Venice. Lots of beautiful places to dine and enjoy a nice chilled Aperol Spritz.
Would definitely recommend this hotel if visiting Venice and will definitely be returning.
The staff was unbelievably helpful with all our requests, they really went above and beyond.
The restaurant/bar is beautiful and serves a great breakfast. Also, the drink selection is great for an evening drink.
Overall highly recommended.
We were recommended different restaurants and offered to join a free membership which enabled us to receive a free welcome drink each which of course we took advantage of!
The rooms were spacious, clean and beautifully designed.
The hotel was not located near the centre, it is a lovely walk to the centre and I would definitely recommend to walk instead of taking the water buses.
We all really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this to every traveller.
Thank you so much for so a wonderful stay.
The hotel’s location away from the tourist-intensive center enables enjoyment of the more real Venice and residential neighbourhoods while being a short Vaporetto ride from the center (or a flat 20-30 minute walk) and the history of the building adds architectural character.
The service was consistently excellent for Bar, Breakfast and Dinner which was surprisingly good value.
Thank you Marco, Carolina and team for the warm welcome and making us feel special.
We look forward to our next visit.

The hotel has a lovely courtyard accessible from the bar/Reataurant which is lovely for a Aperol Spritz in the evening.
The staff were great and always greeted us with a smile and hello as we came and went from the hotel.
Would stay here again on a return visit to Venice.

The rooms are lovely: very cozy, nicely appointed, and comfortable beds. And the restaurant/lounge in the lobby serves good food and wine, which I took advantage of a couple of times over my two trips.
The area in which the hotel is located is quiet as it is mainly residential. On the map, the location may look a bit far, but you can be in San Marco within 15 minutes by water bus or 30 minutes on foot, and it's a nice walk along the lagoon or through the Castello district.
