We stayed there for 6 nights end of December - begining of January. Aimply a lovely hotel with a charming owners and stuff. We were welcomed so nicely and we felt at home. All our needs were met - Great location - 3 minutes from Metro and buses. Quiet street, close to places to eat. Nice room and very clean.
What else do you need from a hotel in your vacation?
Highly recommended.

Our first time to Roma and we stayed 3 nights here. What a fantastic hotel! Stefano, Kira, and the rest of the staff (we met Roberto and Mario) were SO kind and friendly. Perfect location for walking and minutes from the Termini station.

The room was just the right size with a very comfortable bed, large bathroom and a shower with great water pressure. This shows as a 2 star hotel but I’m not sure why… should be 3-4 at least based on the level of service and personal touch. If you’d enjoy and appreciate a truly authentic experience and conversations with smiles then book this hotel.

This is a historical building with the hotel on the 3rd floor, accessible by easy to walk stairs or a smaller elevator. Be sure to enjoy the terrace before heading out, after returning from the sights, or to eat whatever food and drink you bring back. All of the guests we met on the terrace were great and it’s always nice to compare notes.

The breakfast was outstanding (anything but modest) with fresh locally baked bread, delicious pastries, plenty of fruit and fresh juice and of course the BEST coffee! Be sure to ask for Kira’s coffee as Stefano is still learning 😉… Kira’s apprentice. It was perfect each morning to get the day started for all of the walking we did.

We can’t wait to return and stay here again! Thank you Stefano & Kira! -Vic & Julie

Dear Vic & Julie many thanks for the kind words about our Hotel Oceania in Rome. We try to spend our passion to break out of any hotel classification scheme and offer something authentic. We think this is the right way for us to reach our customers' expectations. On your review, the only note I can make is that you understand from what you say that you are not an expert in coffee, which obviously I do much better than Kira !!! 😂😂😂 Thanks again, we hope to see you soon.

The Oceania hotel is a real gem in the center of Rome. We initially booked for 1 night, but we enjoyed our stay so much that we added 2 more nights. The rooms are classic but very well maintained and modernised and especially meticulously clean and furnished with high quality materials. The location is perfect in a wide but quiet street with plenty of parking space, and right in the center between the trevi fountain and the central train station. The typical roman breakfast was well organised and fresh, but maybe the best part of this hotel is the excellent hosting. The couple running the hotel are absolutely adorable and see to every need directly, they’re always available. We can definitely warmly recommend this hotel, and we’ll for sure be coming back here!

COVID cancelled our March 2020 6 nights pre-paid booking. The hotel honored our 2020 payment until we could visit Rome in July 2021, giving us 7 nights because the March 2020 prices had been reduced! This is a private family owned and managed hotel who have suffered significant losses because of the pandemic. They were wonderful hosts. The rooms are tastefully and professionally decorated. The location is a comfortable walk to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Foundation, Spanish steps, etc. From our experience, this is the perfect choice for a tourist visiting Rome. We will book again when going to Rome.

Flying home after a transatlantic cruise we needed a hotel that was located close to the train station for one night so we could catch a train to the airport the next day and through recommendations we decided on Hotel Oceania. Located on the corner of the Via Firenze and the Via Vente Settembre the hotel occupies the 3rd floor of an old Italian building. On one side of the building is an old church while another hotel occupies the fourth floor.

A former pension the place is really charming. From the entrance we rode a tiny and archaic old style lift to the third floor where we met Kira who immediately made us feel at home.

The two wings of the hotel are joined by an open air walkway which featured bistro chairs and tables looking over a central atrium. Because we wanted two separate beds our room consisted of a bedroom with a double bed, a sitting room with a single bed and an ensuite bathroom. Facing into the atrium our room was nice and quiet and had all of the charm we expected from an Italian pension.

The breakfast in the morning was served in a dining room located across from reception and consisted of rolls, croissants, an assortment of fresh food, juice and tea. Thank you to Kira and all of the staff who made us feel like we were guests in their home. The place is the perfect combination of Roman charm and comfort with a great location.

Our stay was comfortable, quiet and wonderful because of the good location, accommodating staff (especially the concierge Mario and staff Clara) and the hotel's ambience. The location was close to the main train station Termini which allowed us to have inexpensive taxi rides (less than 10 euros) to get there. The breakfast offered an assortment of Italian meat delicacies, breads and coffee drinks. Since we booked directly with the hotel and because of Rick Steves' book, we got a better rate. Thanks to this hotel, our 2-night stay was wonderful!

We were delighted with our recent 5 night stay at the Hotel Oceania. It is a charming hotel with a wonderful staff. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a corner room with 2 nice windows which could be shuttered to block out light for a perfect night's sleep. The hotel is on an upper floor on a quiet street, so we weren't bothered by street noise. The bathroom was clean and modern, with good water pressure, plenty of hot water and thick towels. Breakfast was good - pastries, rolls with butter and jam, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, cereal, delicious cappuccino and tea. On two mornings, we had to leave the hotel before breakfast service began, but the staff were kind enough to provide a breakfast box for us, so we didn't start out hungry.

The hotel is in a great location, close to Termini train station and Repubblica Metro station, and within walking distance of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. We walked everywhere, except to the Vatican which was a quick 5 Metro stops away. There are several restaurants and at least 3 gelaterias closely, as well as a grocery and other shops. The staff were so kind. They helped with directions and recommendations, and printed out some tickets for us as well. The desk is staffed 24 hours a day, so someone is always available to help. We felt entirely cared for, and will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Rome. Highly recommended!

I stayed here for four nights. The hotel is within walking distance to major landmarks (roughly 15-20 mins). There are lots of things to like about this hotel. It's quaint, homely and has a lovely terrace. The breakfast might be limiting to some, but have to mention here that they serve fresh pastries and delicious cappuccino every morning.

My room was a moderate size for a single guest, with a double bed. It was clean and with plenty of space for my things. I was grateful for the luggage rack. The bathroom was spacious and with a good working shower. No toothpaste, so bring your own. They don't have iron and don't allow travel iron, but there is a nearby launderette service to use.

Kira is friendly and personable. Every morning and late afternoon, she would acknowledge her guests with a warm smile and always ask after them. When I had an unfortunate situation when touring Rome, she, Stefano and the two Maurizios helped me and never made me feel like I was asking much from them. Such genuine staff, who made me feel right at home.

I would stay here again, if I ever come back to Rome.

It is difficult to say what we liked best about the Oceania because it is near perfect. In no particular order: Perfect location. Close to Republicca metro and Termini. If you get off at Termini, you don't need to take the metro to Republicca (although you can) because it is very easy to walk from either. Nice safe neighborhood with plenty of shopping and eateries and groceries. Simple walk to... everywhere. Trevi, Monti, the Forum area, and if you are comfortable with the Metro, even better.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. Italian TV if you are interested, but that's now why you are there. Nice Internet., hairdryer mounted on wall. Window opens onto courtyard. Service on the room was great.

Breakfast was pastry, bread, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice. Simple and great. The staff is available 24/7 and very nice with great English.

There is a comfortable library with some interesting books, too. The hotel is on the 3rd floor of a building (keep in mind, in Europe the 3rd floor is what we would call the 4th floor here). The door is marked, but when you walk in, you are in a hallway and have to walk towards the end of the hallway. To your left is a cage-style elevator. There is no marking, but there is a large button about eye-level with a red light that is turned off. If the elevator is there, you can open the door and walk in. If it isn't, press the large button and the light will come on. When the elevator arrives, you'll be able to open the door and walk in. Tight squeeze, so get on with people you like.

To get to/from the FCO airport, you can walk to Termini and take the Leonardo Express which runs about twice an hour and is inexpensive. A taxi is 50 Euro which isn't bad, either.

Thanks Stefano, Kira, and staff for a great stay. If we return to Rome, we'll definitely see you again.

Very quaint hotel in a central area - located within minutes of Tremini train station and the metro.

Lovely staff! Hotel is on the 3rd floor of the building (there is a lift) with other establishments…I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very quaint, but very comfortable and equipped with smart TV’s which was nice after traveling for a few weeks just to have the option of English TV.

The hotel itself is quiet, I think we saw 2 other guests. But the hallways are noisy, and the way our room was situated we could hear people on other floors. One morning was particularly noisy when a woman on the floor below us started cleaning before 7 am. It was extremely noisy and she didn’t seem to have any concern for trying to be quiet. From filling pails with water and going in and out of a cabinet which was outdoors…it was a lot. No fault of the hotel’s, but ot was worth noting as it may prevent me from booking again if I return to Rome. If you are looking at booking this place please be quiet in the hallways. Especially if you are grown adults who know better. There was a larger group of female travellers here at the same time who were extremely noisy in the hallways at a late hour, with no regard for others.

Beds were comfortable, bathroom well-equipped, hot water was not consistent, and the shower door opening was quite narrow. If you are a plus size lady you may struggle to get in the shower.

All in all, it’s easy to see why the reviews and ratings are so good!

Do you have lifts and or disabled access?
Answer from Beverly954

There is a small lift to get up to the hotel and rooms. However, be advised that you must take stairs first just to reach the lift. There are a few steps from sidewalk to main door that have no handrail, and then there is one flight of steps inside from the exterior door to the landing with the lift. This can be cumbersome for guests with much luggage, and it can be too challenging in general for people with any sort of mobility or balance concerns. Also the front wing of the hotel has rooms level with the reception area, but there is one step to reach the back wing, where many of the rooms are located. We had no issues managing the steps, but we saw other guests who had considerable difficulty.
