We stayed here 11-14th May and thought it was a really good hotel.
The location was perfect - situated in a quiet part of the stunning gothic quarter yet only a few minutes walk from bustling La Ramblas, Placa Reial and Liceu metro.
The hotel itself has a bakery/cafe, nice seating area around reception, small gym and a small rooftop pool/sunbathing area. There was a tea/coffee vending machine on our floor as well as a drinks/snacks vending machine that we didn't use as there is a supermarket directly opposite the hotel.
Breakfast was nice, all the usual continental offerings as well as some hot choices too. Plenty juices and nice teas and coffees
Our room was 102 - we had requested a higher floor (less noisy). However, we had an early flight and arrived mid morning; after reception called housekeeping we only had to wait a little while to be allowed to check in early so perhaps this was the first available as the hotel was full.
The room wasn't overly big or luxurious. However, it was spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The bed was wide and comfortable, the rain shower was good (there was also a hand held shower too). There wasn't a kettle but we were aware of this and took our own collapsible travel kettle. Mini bar (we used as a fridge for milk) good hairdryer, adequate clothes storage and toiletries supplied. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day with fresh towels.
Every single member of staff we encountered were lovely and professional. A special mention to David on reception for his help and cheeriness and the breakfast girls who single handedly manged this alone (one on our first 2 days and the other on the last day).
All in all, we were pleased to have chosen Hotel Catalonia Avinyo. We would absolutely recommend and will definitely return when we next visit the amazing Barcelona

To us, wanting to live in and experience the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona whilst also having the amenities of a fresh and modern hotel at our disposal, this turned out to be absolutely amazing. Everything seemed to be within reach, and only minutes of walking away, except for the obvious sites on the mountains, the Sagrada Familia and Güell Park. Taking the few minutes to figure out the metro system made all those other sites available at the blink of only a metro ticket or a glimpse at how to get to one of the cable car towers.

The hotel staff went above and beyond to solve any issues and were alle extremely helpful. The room was clean and tidy, and the bathroom was bigger than usual. The beds were very comfortable, and at night the rooms were so quiet that sleeping was never an issue.

The absolute best parts of the hotel, was the location, the modern feel and look and again, being within 100 meters of a multitude of bars, restaurants, picturesque sqaures and the very familiar narrow streets of the old town.

The only thing we would advise the hotel to change, would be the opening hours for their amazing rooftop terrace. Just close of the pool part, and leave the other end open for more hours, as this was a great place to spend time and lick the sun. As there are no other outdoors places for hotel guests to have a sit-down, it would be great if the terrace was open from breakfast hours in the morning and until later at night.

We were four adults, spending 6 nights at this hotel, in September 2022.

I really loved this hotel. The interior is clean and in order. I booked a superior room on the 6th floor and it was very quiet with good amenities, plenty of hot water, a big shower, 2 shower robes, and everything was super clean. The double bed was very comfortable and the desk was perfect to do some work. A complimentary bottle of water in the room was perfect to be used with some tea or coffee. The only thing is that there was any view from the window because it was looking at the interior roof, but just outside of the door there was the roof terrace with a small pool and tables and chairs to spend some time. The view of the city from there is very nice.
The front desk staff was very attentive and very nice. The breakfast buffet was served on the lower floor. Full of choices from yogurt to croissants and pastries and a nice collection of cereals and dry fruits. There is also a coffee bar in the hall that is open all day long.
The hotel is within walking distance to the port and it is in heart of the Gothic quarter and there are lots to see in the area.

In the first room, we required a technician to unsuccessfully 'fix' the heat. The refrigerator wasn't operational and neither was the phone. In the second room, we had the same regulation problem with the heat, unbearably hot. Unfortunately, both bathrooms had mold on the tiles and ceiling. While the location was ideal for exploring the Gothic neighborhood, the hotel needs some serious housekeeping.

It was the best i could expect. Service, food, location, decoration and clean.
The Staff were very nice and spoke fluent English.
There is a small bar that serves the minimum but in good quality
Breakfast was generous and tasty
The location is one of the best that you can find. Not busy but in the heart of it all.
Supermarket 10 meters away, same as bars and shops.

The location was fantastic the hotel was clean but terrible receptionist! When we checked in we were looked down as if we were peasants giving free accommodations. Asked what time check out was and the receptionist told me it was at 10 am, asked about doing a late check out and was told that was not possible as the rooms needed to be cleaned and ready for the next guests. Standard check out was at 12 when we asked a different staff member! So the receptionist did that to get rid of us, cause stress and his personal amusement. Terrible

The hotel is located in the heart of the Gothic Quarters yet close to La Rambla and all main attractions of Barcelona (about 18 min from the airport, taxi cost of 32 Euros). The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and give a good rest after all day of city walking (important for someone like me walking 16-18 km a day). The hotel staff couldn't be nicer! So lovely and accommodating! The pool area was great! We have to point out the coffee - they are serving the best Latte ever! I'm planning to visit again and I will for sure choose the Catalonia Avinyo hotel again! The hotel was very quiet regardless of being located so conveniently at the center of such busy touristic attractions. The AC was working great. The price was very affordable taking into consideration the high standard and amazing location.

Courteous team.

Try improve the bathrooms to limit spillage of shower water into the toilet floor.

Please provide heating water kettles and complementary beverages (tea bags, coffee sachets) for guests alongside the minibar

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. It's in the gothic quarter and very close to everything you might want. We had a superior room, the bed was big and very comfortable, the bathroom was excellent. There's a small area when you walk in, this is where the wardrobes are and tea and coffee making facilities. I couldn't understand why the TV and small desk were placed across the centre of the room. It cuts down on usable space. Whilst the view of the tv from the bed is OK, the view from the settee is of the back of the tv, if you have looked at the back of a tv lately you'll know it's not a pretty sight. The room is quite dark as the only window opens onto the building next door and it's pretty close. The breakfast was disappointing as the hot food was cold, I thought it was expensive too, but that's only my opinion. Overall we had a nice stay and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We spent three nights at this hotel and got upgraded which was nice due to an unfortunate incident. Please be careful in the Gothic Quarter as the pickpockets are everywhere and very skilled!
We had a street view which was cute and the room itself was lovely. Only thing missing a full length mirror in the room so you can check yourself before you leave. The location is great. There is a terrace at the top but we didn't use it because its a bit chilly this time of year. We also tried to use the room service but the telephones didn't work so hopefully they will fix them. They have a nice little bar in the front of you want a drink in the evening or a coffee and pastries in the morning. The staff were pleasant enough but we are still disappointed that we were not told on arrival that the phones were not working so after being completely shattered from travelling we called from our phones to the hotel and the room service took very long (over an hour and half) so we cancelled the order!
Apart from that all was okay there.
