This is a great small hotel which is 2 minutes from L5 metro. Very close to Camp Nou and it only took us 20-25 minutes by metro to get to most attractions.
The hotel was very clean, comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff, and a good selection for breakfast. A couple of really good restaurants nearby too. Fully recommended as a place to stay.

Bugs in the room and all kinds of weird droppings. Not cleaned well.

When I complained they were so non chalant. Did not bother changing room or providing any help until I pushed for a bug spray. I sought a refund but they stopped responding to email. I will file a complaint with the Spanish tourism.

Poor maintenance and poor customer service. The staff is sweet but the management is very rude. Membership is a joke, no early check ins or late check outs. My room was not ready even at 1.30 pm and the staff is very slow checking in.

Unfortunately Barcelona is so booked usually (even mid week!) that at euro 200 this seemed like a good deal given the good location next to metro. Other than that this is basically a 2 star hotel and 200 is a rip off. The area otherwise is sketchy and a hostel next door has several homeless people

Breakfast is mid. Charge extra for specialty coffee.

The best part is the location. Close to metro and local eating joints. The worst part is the curtness of the staff at breakfast. Not even a customary greeting is done by staff who is non English speaking . Except for one guy Rafael at front desk who is very hospitable. Don’t take their breakfast , esp vegetarians have little to eat. Quality of food is mediocre as a simple full boiled egg that we requested was not done. There was no apology or anything for such a poor show at breakfast. The facilities are fairly good , but carry your own water. They don’t give even water bottles in room or at front desk. As an Asian the attitude of most staff was unwelcoming .

Cannot be a true 4* if no room drink making facilities except minibar with 2 bottles coke and 2 of water at 2 Euros each plus 2 Euros city tax. In every 4 * I stayed before around the world, 2 bottles water a day were free !
When I asked on first evening, told go to restaurant or tea and coffee, but found closed early. Only when checking out and giving feedback told, "we can give you if you ask". So of course pointed out I did ask and different answer had been given !

Responded Dec 8, 2020
Dear guest, Thank you very much for your review. Firstly, we would like to explain that according to the legislation, the city tax is mandatory to be paid in the region of Catalonia upon check out, and this a common practice in all hotels in Barcelona. Secondly, in many hotels neither the mini bar is included, and in our case, this is stipulated in the booking conditions that are available publicly. As well, you were informed upon check-in about the timetable of the restaurant, and after it finishes, there is always a receptionist that can provide to you with a cup of coffee or tea. We apologize, there must have been a misunderstanding in that regard. Thirdly, all guests are welcome to comment on aspects of their stay that they believe can help other travelers to get a full and honest idea of the facilities and services that a hotel provides to its customers. In this case, we consider it lacks the complete image about your stay, and we are pretty confident there were lots of positive aspects that were not mentioned. That is why we invite you to give us a second opportunity to make your next stay memorable. Please, contact with us for your next stay in Barcelona so that we can give you a special treatment to compensate these small negative details that could have unfortunately prevail in regard to your overall experience. Kind regards from Barcelona. Madanis Team

On arrival, there were only two people queuing in front of us, but it took forever for our turn. During check in, we were told our room was not in the main building but around the block at the back (we found later that it is called Madanis Liceo). The staff offered we can stay in the main building if we pay extra 15 euros per night. This was never made clear when we did the booking. We booked under the Madanis Hotel page which showed it is a 4 star hotel. In fact the other hotel we placed was only a 3 star as we found out later. For me it is a trap because it confuses people and not made clear when booking.
The room we stayed is not getting our experience any better, by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed. It was old and tired with very basic facilities. Despite the hotel only has 3 stories, the elevator only starts on the middle floor, so we have to lift our luggages to the first and no one was helping us with the luggages.
The only positive is that the hotel is very close to the metro station.
Overall, we felt we were tricked and the Liceo hotel itself is hardly 3 star standard. We would not come back again and would not recommend to anyone.

Dear guest. Madanis Complex consists in three different establishments which offer different kind of accommodation: Madanis Hotel (4*) Hotel Madanis Liceo (3*) and Madanis Apartments. They are only 50 meters far and share the same block in Les Corts district, next to the entrance of Collblanc Metro. Our guests chose the kind of accommodation which better suits their necessities and budget. In our official sites everything is explained clearly and Madanis and Liceo have different sites so that the guest make the booking in different places being very difficult to be confused. In other sites which are not under our control the information could be more confusing even if we are always controlling this point. Perhaps this was your case if you thought that had booked a 4* when the booking was in fact in Madanis Liceo 3*. No trap, it was perhaps a confusion, but you can see our official site to check how accurately the information is given. On the other hand, Madanis Liceo is a 3* with many standards of a higher category. Its design, comfort and service have been very appreciated for many guests since it was opened in 2011. To say that “it was old and tired” doesn’t honor the truth in any case because it really has still the appearance of brand new as most travelers have said in their reviews. Tripadvisor is a very good place where all honest comments are accepted but, in order to preserve the good opinion it has among many travelers in the world, the contributions must be honest and not malicious. So, I am sorry but I have to disagree with your comments, as they in no way fit the reality of the circumstances that surrounded your stay with us. I am sure there must have been a misunderstanding. Finally, please, accept our excuses if your check-in was longer than usual. We really work hard every day in order to improve our service but sometimes many guests arrive simultaneously and it is very difficult to avoid some small queues forming. They never last more than 5 minutes in any case.Be sure that this is a point we always have in mind. I suggest that you visit us again soon and I assure you we will be ready to meet all of your expectations.

1. Breakfast buffet is 10EUR and you get to have as much jamon as you can eat! Worth it since they sell one small plate for 15EUR outside.

2. Location is perfect. It is a few metres away from McDonalds (perfect for a quick meal), Zara and Mango shops, Collblanc station and Camp Nou! What more can you ask for!

3. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and spacious! No complaints at all.

4. One slight problem is their air conditioning. We had to open the windows as we felt suffocated. The air conditioning was then making noises as apparently it can detect if the windows are open. My boyfriend and I had trouble sleeping then.

5. Walls are very thin so you could hear the next door going to the bathroom. Just hope you don't get noisy roommates! We were lucky we had quiet ones.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your review. We are glad to know that you appreciated our location, the fantastic relationship between quality and price of our breakfast and the cleanness of our premises. As far as the Air Conditioned is concerned, I think that the problem is that you visited Barcelona in early spring, when we were making the change between winter and summer in our AC systems. At this period of the year, temperature changes a lot between the cool mornings/evenings and some higher temperatures at noon. In any case, the temperature was never over 20ªduring this week and usually guests asks for AC when it is a bit more hot. As for the walls, I can assure you that our walls are not at all thin and we have good isolating materials between rooms, but, in any case, I will investigate the noises you mention in order to see if there is a problem. Kind regards from Barcelona.

Good morning, thank you very much for your question and the interest in Madanis! Yes, the credit card details are required as a standard procedure, but only as guarantee for any extra charges that you could have during your stay (mini bar, phone charges, restaurant, breakfast, parking, city tax etc.). Take into account that we don´t make any charge on your card, it serves only as guarantee. As an alternative, a 50€ deposit in cash is accepted and will be returned at the check out.
