We started in August 2012 and, since then, we have become a reference for all those who come to Barcelona, whether for sightseeing or for business. At the Bird House we offer you a modern and brand new accommodation in the city center: 50m from Urgell Metro station and the Aerobus stop with direct connection to the airport. We offer comfortable, spacious and equipped rooms with high ceilings and their original Spanish titles. The private rooms are for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 people and our shared dorms are for 4 or 8 people. All rooms are new and have been decorated with attention to detail to make the stay as comfortable as possible to our guests. Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Be forewarned, the photos for this listing are much nicer than real life. This property is a hostel with shared common areas and shared bathrooms. As one would expect in a hostel, the towels are thin, the guests are noisy, the toilet paper needs constant replenishing, etc. We selected the Bird House for its location (El Raval is great) and because we thought a bunk-bed room for the four of us would be fun and novel. The room was quite small and not very clean. Disappointing.

family of six in one bedroom sounds a bit messy, but Bird House manage to be prepare for it. Within the room is manageable to move around and if needed there's two services on the corridor. Kitchen-wise, not the best for such a group but there's always all the good restaurants around the area.

It's an upscale hostel, but not quite a bed and breakfast. Very clean and modern. I chose it because there are 5 of us in our family (3 late teen's and early 20's kids joining us), and it was astronomical to get 2 hotel rooms in the city. Found this place and it fit the bill perfectly. I booked the family room with private bathroom. There were 6 bunk beds, so it was perfect. Now, I wouldn't want to stay in Barcelona with my kids in this room for a week (my kids are full grown), but for the quick one night stay on both ends of a cruise, it was perfect. My only complaint is that the pillows were flat....like really, really flat. But, for 133 euros for the 5 of us for the night AND breakfast included in the morning (continental in a small cafe around the corner), it couldn't be beat!

I was disappointed. Not clean, I felt uncomfortable using the shared bathrooms and kitchen, since they were not clean.. same with the room. There was no sign of breakfast anywhere, I have no idea where it was supposed to be? It is on a busy street so if you have open windows, its really noisy. Location is good though and the room is big. I would not go here again.

We stayed in Barcelona for 3 nights and this wasn't our best stay at a guesthouse. We booked the penthouse apartment based on all the (mostly good) reviews from various websites, but nothing was as we imagined. The apartment is very small, rooms are not at all as glamurous as they look in the pictures but most of all we were annoyed by the fact that it wasn't cleaned and prepared for our arrival. It looked like someone began to clean it, but didn't finish the job. The bathroom was the less clean area of the house, while the mattress from the main room was so stained that you could see those stains through the sheets. We ended up removing that mattress as it was impossible to sleep on it. The room with the bunk beds from the penthouse apartment is so small I think it wasn't even supposed to be a room, but some kind of storage area, and they just put a bed there and call it a bedroom. We were a group of four and two of us ended up seeping on the couch instead of that room. Wifi is really poor, breakfast is served at a nearby cafe, ususally a croissant or a sandwich and a coffee/juice. The only positive part of all this experience for us is that Bird House is located in the (relatively) city centre, close to the metro station and that it had the rooftop terrace. Other than that, it was a poor experience and we wouldn't come back here, nor would I recommend it to others, especially if you're travelling with kids.

We stayed one night in Bird House but we are highly disappointed with our choise. It seemed to be a nice place to stay in, but a good fist impression has been destroyed by the bedbugs that were everywhere, starting with the walls and ending with our beds. It was disgusting! As the landlord wrote us, it's hard to control such things but surely this room haven't been checked for a long time as the amount of the bedbugs was overwhelming. What's more, it's the first time when such things happened to us so it seems that other hostels can put more focus on the conditions in their rooms. We didn't see the bedbugs in the first place so we left our luggage and went for sightseeing. In result, we had to go through all our staff to check whether none of bedbug found a new house in our uggages! 1A.M. it's not a good time for doing such things but otherwise we could be exposed to a risk that we can take the bedbugs with us. The last but not least, we told the ladlord about it and as a compensation for this unwanted event he offered to refund a part of our costs for this hostel. Unfortunately we've never seen this refund so it seems that somebody find it difficult to control his rooms as well as meet the promises. Although we could change a room, it cost us a lot of nerves and gave away 2 hours of our sleep. Wouldn't recommend this "Bedbug House"!

Some rooms has just a tiny window to the inside as u see in photo. U can hear to waste water go in the cables from there. Expect no light at all - same in corridor and kitchen totally dark all day. Very depressing atmostphere.

We stayed one night in April 2015 - Location: Very good. Walkable to Ramblas & Block of Discord - To reach: Easiest with Aerobus, €5.90 p/p, 2nd stop & 50 m from Bird house, but a bit difficult to find. ["Bosch" on the front of building.] - Room: Clean white linen & towels. Few cupboards for a long stay - Bathrooms: Clean with soap & shampoo - Kitchen: Clean, fridge, microwave & washing machine, kettle & coffee for all to use. - Staff: friendly & very helpful, but not very fluent in English. - Wifi very effective. - Breakfast at the nearby Ordesa on the corner. Pastry & coffee or juice.
Although we booked our room a year in advance, we had no problems except that the room was not the one that I booked. We will use the Bird house again.

We went to ‘The Bird House’ in Barcelona for 4 nights. We just got checked in and looking for a room. We found it. We entered our room and unhappy with this room. We are NOT expected room as different shown from website. I feel like we’re in the big brother because one of camera is watching us, following us wherever we go in the kitchen. A manager is spying on us. Next day, we go downstairs and saw a reception and a guy who staring me, like killing me into his eyes! He approached me and showed me a photo of air conditioning remote battery is missing. I told him it’s not my fault. My daughter did NOT know anything and she played with this remote. Then I realise how did a manager enter my room?!?! This is so wrong. I realise this hotel is unsafe. Please do not bring your kids to that hotel!! I would say 0 out of 10!! Terrible service, terrible customers and we don’t feel welcome here.
Also my roommate is complaining when my daughter cries😂when she’s having a child she will understand! I couldn’t give a damn, the important thing is she’s wanting a milk. Sorry guys!
Trust me guys, do not go there I feel scared and being watched.

In some of the common areas we have cameras for the safety of our guests, however in no case the camera "follow" our guests. My flight arrived at 12am, I booked for that date but check in was 2pm. I put that in both my booking and follow up emails requesting a check in at that time that fit with my flight. They sent this "Hello, good morning, near the date of your arrival, we will send you instructions on how to access the room as the reception works until midnight. Best regards,Bird House Team" then I got an email on the morning of my reservation "Hello, good morning, near the date of your arrival, we will send you instructions on how to access the room as the reception works until midnight. Best regards,Bird House Team" If they needed me to change something about my reservation for the day before I arrived the could have just said so, but there was no mention of it. I had sent the arrival time and noted it in my booking, but also sent again when I saw the email around 7pm that day (I was travelling) and also requested the instructions for checkin. I got no response. I landed and arrived at the hostel a little after midnight and found another woman waiting to check in. She told me she had been there for an hour (the office still should have been open at that time) and that no one was answering the phone ( it was in the office that was closed). There was a box that said late night checkin instructions but nothing was inside. At no point in time did they say that they could not accommodate me, if they had I would have booked somewhere else. Also, I spent the night wandering around Spain looking for a hostel with that woman after our phones died. I was able to charge it at another hostel TOC and request a cancellation citing no instructions were given. That was denied by the property. So, the next day I went to the hostel to figure out what happened. The guy said that there was no bed for me for that day (12am on the date of my reservation).Why couldn't I have access to the common area couch or a response to my email? Why was there no mention of that earlier? Why was there another woman left without information? He kept wanting to explain the same thing over but wasn't listening to me. The beds were decent and facilities were clean, but at that point i was over it and just wanted to be done. If you're flying in at an odd hour skip this place.

The best way is with the Aerobus, (you can take it on the sama airport)
It goest to city center and we are next to the second stop.
The price of the tiket is 5.90€ per person.
