Hotel Barcelona House is often praised for its excellent value, providing affordable accommodation with the bonus of a complimentary breakfast. Although some guests have concerns about the size of the rooms and certain amenities, many are impressed with the hotel's cleanliness and the friendly nature of the staff. Its prime location is a highlight, making it a favorite for travelers eager to explore local attractions on foot. However, the vibrant nightlife nearby can lead to noisy evenings, and some guests suggest that room maintenance could be improved.

The hotel is just off La Rambla, in a great location for walking to most of the major sights. Near to the Cathedral and about a 30 minute walk, through some great little side streets, or less if you take a direct route, to Sagrada Familia and only a 10 minute walk to the Marina and beach area.

Rooms are basic, but adequate and comfortable for a city break stay. The wet room shower was excellent, lighting could be improved, to enable a good shave however!

The lifts have an active weight limit, which won’t allow them to move if overloaded, which is a good safety mechanism.

The breakfast is more than adequate with various meat choices, eggs, fruit, cereal etc and the staff are excellent in clearing tables and maintaining excellent standards.

The reception staff are really friendly and helpful.
Overall an excellent well located 3 star for enjoying Barcelona

This is a small, boutique hotel in the midst of the gothic quarter. The room was spacious, mostly clean (I had to wipe sand off a desk top-perhaps from last occupants luggage on it?), but I am not a fan of the low twin beds. The pillows are small and flat. We had a room with a 3rd bed, so I luckily could add that pillow. Our room also overlooked the street below, and even on the 5th floor it was noisy all night long! The drapes had to stay pulled as the apartments across the way were less than 15 feet away. Amenities include a TV, hair dryer (that shut off too quick from overheating), sterilized glasses in bathroom, hand soap, shampoo, body gel, plastic comb, a tooth brush/paste pack and a shaving pack. The front desk people are very knowledgeable about the area and helpful. No ice for drinks available in hotel-a bit disappointing for us (sorry, ice loving American). The area is fun to explore on foot with many interesting shops & restaurants. The price was very good for the area! I would definitely come back.

We stayed here for 1 night pre cruise embarkation. Firstly the location is spot on. The reception staff were nice however it took them a while to get our card working for the lift. I booked 3 rooms, all doubles. 1 was given a room with a small balcony, two were given what id call basic rooms. its a shame they dont pay attention when assigning rooms as we were there on one of the guests birthdays and would of been nice for them to have been offered the room with the small balcony. Our room had a double bed and a single bed, spacious but a 'hidden' window that had we been staying longer would of been claustrophobic.
Rooms need to be soundproofed. Every time a room near used the toilet we were woken by the flushing or taps running.
Breakfast is included and there is plenty of choice.

We could not get our regular hotel at the end of our stay so we randomly chose Barcelona house because of its location. I was a bit concerned since the hotel is in the gotic district and near plaça Reial which gets crowded and noisy at night. Surprise! The hotel is well soundproof and although our room gave on Escudellers we could not hear a noise from outside. Like many hotels in Barcelona expect to hear noise from the hallways but that's it.

The room we had (302) was spacious, the bathroom was well appointed with bath and shower and the breakfast offered had a good variety. The only minus is that the breakfast hours 8 to 10 are too short and it can get very busy and noisy.

The staff is excellent, they are always smily and helpful and when we had a little issue with the shower, the repairman accompanied by the manager of maid-service came almost immediately and settled the problem in a matter of minutes.

The hotel always seem to try to be on top of every issue and they even offred a PCR test service that they arranged at it was finally at a lower cost than what we would have paid, should we have chosen it on our own.

All in all, comfy and spacious rooms, well located near Ramblas, in the Gòtic and near the port with also a good breakfast it becomes an ideal spot.

Would not recommend this hotel sorry hostel at all.. after an awful time getting to the hotel when we (2 young girls) arrived we were greeted by 2 very rude people on reception demanding to see our passports and made us pay a tax charge which we were very shocked at as we never heard of hotels charging tax. We then got our key for the room and when we walked in we were mortified at how small the room was not to mention it absolutely stunk and the bed sheets were dirty and very uncomfortable and thats just after only sitting on them. I may also mention that the walls are like a sheet of paper you can literally hear everything. We left after 20 minutes of being in this awful place as it was nothing like the pictures when booking and went to another hotel. I don’t know how this place is still up and running it was an absolute state. The location is awful also and unsafe to walk around as its up a back alley where people were sleeping on the streets. A complete waste of money i would not recommend staying in this hotel. When checking out there were 2 different people on reception who were also very rude and did not seem at all interested or bothered that we were checking out 2 days early, didn’t even question the reasons why for our decision to leave. This experience ruined our time in barcelona and made us so unhappy and unsafe to walk around we ended up booking a flight home the next day not even 24 hours of getting there. Overall a very stressful, awful and horrific experience.

We stayed here in August prior to boarding a cruise, two rooms for 4 adults and a child, I have no idea of the exact price paid because it was included in the cruise booking, but the company I use don't book expensive hotels. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful, the rooms clean and functional, the general decor well done to reflect the 'new' hotel in an old building. We had been told by our travel agent it was 'room only' so were pleasantly suprised to find it included a complementary breakfast. The breakfast offered was in my opinion very good with sufficent choice for us all and far better than I have been offered in many other pre-cruise hotels in Barcelona. The location was great particulary as my daughter and granddaughter had not seen the city before and we were able to do the basics in the short time we had there. If your on a budget I would also recommend Colom restaurant a few doors down on the left.
I have rated this hotel 5 dots Excellent because in my opinion it fits that category for the service it offers in the budget area it caters for in a great location. If you like flash or posh hotels, you want your bags taken to your room, or you need an omelette station in the breakfast room then this will not be the hotel for you.

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights and found it to have both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the hotel boasts an excellent location, with many local attractions, museums, shops, and sights within easy walking distance. Additionally, the price is affordable, and complimentary breakfast is provided. The staff is nice.

However, there were several drawbacks. The room had a strong sulfur smell and was very basic. The shower showed signs of mold, and the rooms were poorly soundproofed, allowing noise from outside to disturb sleep. The pillows were very flat and the bedding consisted only of a sheet.

Overall, while the hotel's location and price may be appealing, the subpar room conditions and lack of soundproofing make it difficult to recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights back in May for a city break which was perfect! We arrived early and the hotel staff were so lovely and allowed us to put our luggage in a locked room and change and freshen up whilst we waited for the room to be ready. Our room was a triple room which was very clean and very spacious! Location was perfect with walking distance to a majority of the sights. Was about a 15 min walk from plaça de catalunya which had a lot of metro links and buses that go around and out of the city. On the doorstep to to las ramblas and the gothic quarter. Breakfast was very nice with a variety of things to eat. Very basic but ideal if you need something quick to eat before you go out for the day. Only negative is that we didn’t have much natural light in our room as our window was facing a wall. Despite this the room was still a good temperature and clean which was all we needed as we spent a lot of time out of the hotel anyway. This was a very good city break hotel and was very affordable. Would definitely stay here again!

A five day break with the family and stayed at Barcelona House. Great location - just off the rambla, basic but very clean, very secure and a decent breakfast. Can’t fault it at all.
The reception staff were always helpful and one in particular who gave us guidance on getting to and from the football match whilst we were there.
Air conditioning and blackout blinds were great in the room, so no noise from the busy outside street and a lovely respite from the heat.
Would definitely stay here again.

We were due to stay here on Thursday 20th Sept for 2 nights prior to a cruise which was cancelled. At the time of booking last October we knew it was non refundable but also didnt know there was to be a worldwide pandemic stopping us from travelling. We booked through Expedia who have requested a change of dates NOT a refund, however this apparently has been denied by the hotel. In light of what is happening in the world I would have hoped the hotel would be more understanding. Would I recommend? Not likely!
