I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights or so - the location is perfect (5 min away from Arc De Triompf and in a neighbourhood with lots of lovely restaurants around), the hotel is clean and I was very pleasantly surprised by the free coffee and refreshments between 5 and 11 pm. I cannot say that the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable as per other reviews, but I think this hotel was great for the length of my stay. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpfu, so I have no complaints. Good value for money.

I almost don't want to write this review, I'd like to keep this hotel a secret because it was so good, I really could not fault it. This trip was a surprise 18th birthday present for my son, as he loves Barcelona FC and I had bought tour tickets for Camp Nou (an absolute MUST for anyone who is a fan, highly, highly recommended). When we arrived at Catalonia Born we were given a warm welcome by Raquel on Reception. The Reception area was modern, inviting and exceptionally clean. Rachel was excellent at providing all of the hotel information in a very efficient, professional and pleasant manner and for this she must be praised. I asked if we could have a twin room and this was accommodated with no fuss at all. I also asked Raquel about the best way to get to Camp Nou for the following day, which she explained. When we got to our room on the 5th floor we found it to be comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was excellent with a walk in shower, a bidet, loo, marble vanity area and a separate bath with another shower over. Both showers contained full sized shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which were pleasantly scented. There was a stocked mini fridge, flat screen TV and electronic safe inside the wardrobe, which had plenty of hanging space. The beds were comfortable and pillows and linen were all of good quality too. On our way out later we passed through Reception and Raquel had written down the Metro lines to Camp Nou for us, which was so kind. On our first night room service brought a bottle 🍾 of Cava in an ice bucket with a special note wishing my son Happy 18th Birthday from all the staff, which I thought was such a lovely touch. The hotel has a lovely bar area, and the restaurant on the lower ground floor is modern and well laid out too. Breakfast was excellent. A great choice of hot food, freshly prepared (the small chorizo sausages are wonderful), plus a wonderful selection of continental breakfast items too, plus fruit. Lots of freshly squeezed orange juice plus other fruit juices, and Cava should you so wish it. We sat on the roof top pool area on our second day and enjoyed the last of the afternoon sunshine. It is small but perfectly formed for a boutique city hotel such is the Catalonia Born. Location of the hotel in the old town is great, walking distance to Barcelona Cathedral, La Rambla, Arc Du Triomphe as well as restaurants, cafés and shops literally on the same street. This hotel is an absolute gem, a very good standard 4 star and one I will definitely be staying at again when I return to Barcelona in the future. Do not hesitate in booking there is nothing not to like!

Closeby, you find a stop for 2 different metro lines, a convenient bus stop to the Barceloneta and one to La pedrera. A perfect location to explore the city with all the comfort of public transportation. Additionally, the hotel is very close to a couple of good restaurants.The room was spotless and the staff smiling and helpful and we found complimentary water and chocolate in the room. We lost a brand new dress at the hotel and they refused to accept any responsibility.
Here's the thing: I bought a few clothes at Barcelona, and the only one that was brand new and had not had time to wear was lost the day before I checked out, and we went to the front desk and said it the night before I checked out. He promised us to call the cleaning company early the next morning and inquire, but we waited until 10am to go to the front desk to find out that the front desk staff had changed a batch, and the new one had no idea about me (the staff from the night before did nothing).
We suppressed our anger and provided evidence such as the invoice price of the clothes, and then a woman in charge told us that she would help us find it and promise to pay us compensation if we couldn't find it, but when she asked him about her boss, she told us there would be no compensation. And they are not responsible for it.
We learned that their cleaning was outsourced to the cleaning company, and they didn't help us to find out which cleaner was cleaning our room. (In other words, the cleaning staff and the cleaning company, including the hotel, refuse to accept any responsibility if the customer loses something in the hotel room.)
They have a lot of cleaning staff and lack the ability to manage them professionally. Any cleaning staff can open your door. It's not safe!

Dear Mao, As we explained to you the day you claimed the garment that you supposedly left on the bed, then our colleagues, when cleaning, could not distinguish the garment when removing the sheets. As we told you, we called the external cleaning company for our hotel clothes and they claimed not to find anything on the sheets. At no time were they promised compensation, they were told that we would call the company to see if they had found the clothes. The hotel is not responsible for the guest leaving their clothes, which cannot be distinguished from the sheets, on top of them. In addition, as we told you, we would send you an email to inform you if the clothes had appeared or not. The company called this morning to let us know and we were in the process of getting the information to them. Best regards

What’s not to love? The location was ideally close to it all. We were traveling as a family group from the USA and had 5 rooms reserved for 4 days after disembarking the cruise ship Beyond, All the rooms were just as we requested AND cool and comfortable in the 90+degree heat!. Best of all was the incredible staff at Catalonia Born! Check-in was swift, easy, and friendly. They put the accommodating in accommodations. Natalia was exceptional, very responsive and incredibly helpful both via email pre-arrival and in person. All with a smile on her face! Need bus tickets? Done. Need directions? Done. Need Cathedral tickets? Done. Need a reservation at the incredible restaurant Elsa y Fred's across the street? Done. Need a taxi? Done. Need a group shuttle to the airport? Done.
Our Hotel was easily walkable to incredible cafes and restaurants. Very close to Hop On Hop Off stop. Lots of local shopping and eating nearby with a complete range of food and drinks The hotel bar and restaurant staff always greeted us and provided service at our request. Breakfast was full-service buffet with a great selection of coffee! The service throughout was exceptional. The bar was comfortable and a great gathering spot. I could go on and on. Just Book It.

We stayed 4 nights in Barcelona at the Catalonia Born.
Pros The checkin was easy and friendly. The location is perfect (close to landmarks and many restaurants within walking distance) and the soundproofing windows cut the noise from the quiet street very well. The room is very clean and well appointed
We asked for a cab on our departure day to go to the airport and it was right there waiting for us at the requested time (expensive though… 46€ while it was 34.5€ the other way)
Cons Noise coming from the hotel itself! Our 7th floor room giving on the inner courtyard, some people were very loud until late (1am) and because it was very echo (and for some reason, those people found this point very funny…), it disturbed our sleep 3 of the 4 nights. That would be nice if the staff could let people know to lower the volume after 11pm…
Room uncomfortably hot… On our first night because the room was hot (26.5C), we meant to cool it off for the night. We went for dinner but when we came back, it was 29.5C… We mentioned the employee at the reception that the air conditioning was not working, he said the setting was disabled from the main control and only the heat was enabled… Because of the noise coming from the inner courtyard, we had to keep the window closed making impossible to use the freshness of the night to cool off the room…
Bad smells coming from the bathroom (drain in the shower, I think, that was also draining very slowly). But also bad smells very often in Barcelona in general (known issue)
The room was very small (smaller than what the pictures on the website may you let you think - double room).
That said, I “think” I would go back because of the staff, the cleanliness and the location but would certainly bring earplugs…

We have recently spent three nights in this hotel as we visited Barcelona to go to the Barcelona Rockfest. We were all really impressed with it as it was extremely clean, very comfortable and really quiet considering where it is located. The bed was huge and comfortable and there were two showers to choose from - one in a separate cubicle and one over the bath. It is in a great location in The Born with lots of shops, bars and restaurants around it - we especially liked the Elsa y Fred bar and restaurant opposite where we ate breakfast every morning and also the nice little bar just up the road. We also had a great pizza in Spaca Napoli Italian restaurant in the same street. The metro is really close as well. There is a bar in the hotel and a very small pool and a sunbathing area on the rooftop. So I would definitely recommend this hotel - the only slight negative was the very slow wifi and the fact that the window of our room was directly opposite apartments so we had to keep the curtains drawn at times. Could also have done with more space to put our clothes but that is to be expected in a city hotel where space is often limited. Otherwise great!

The hotel was decent and we didn’t have major complaints. The room was clean and there were no noises coming from the outside (maybe apart from the people in the corridor who, for some reason, tend to shout instead of actually talking in a normal voice level). You could tell that the hotel is a bit old, and some things, especially in the bathroom, would need a better maintenance, e.g. the water tap in the sink was broken or the shower had some marks/stains that could not be removed. The room cleaning was on a daily basis, but the way they made the bed showed that either they don’t know how to properly make a bed, or they didn’t care. Generally, I got the feeling that they just do the bare minimum and don’t care about the details that can make a difference. From that aspect, it was overpriced. From the location’s perspective it was really good as it’s in the center and from there you can easily walk to all major sightseeings, rent a bike or use other transportation.
We didn’t include the breakfast in our booking but it was possible to have breakfast there and then get charged separately. We tried it the first day and there was a variety of things to choose from, savoury and sweet. The rest of the days we decided to go out to other places around the hotel that offered brunch (a very common concept in Barcelona) were the prices were cheaper and the quality of the food was a bit better and closer to my taste.
Overall, our stay in the Catalonia Born was good and if you don’t care about exceptional quality over price, it’s a good place to be.

The hotel is located in a great location! Our room was very comfortable and the staff is always helpful. They offered a free, generous, breakfast buffet. The pool was refreshing! Getting used to the climate, they went out of their way to be sure I was comfortable by placing an additional fan in the room. We were lucky enough to travel during the La Merce (celebration) and took part of the Correfoc (Fire Run). This has been the most splendid time to be in Barcelona and my favorite event. The Catolina Born is in the Goth district that holds these festive events.

Normally stay at the much more expensive Hotel 1898 but we were getting in late and wanted to eat at the lovely Elsa Y Fred restaurant which is just across the road.
Firstly how lovely was the man in reception. Wished me happy Birthday as he noted the date on my passport and 10 minutes later a bottle of cava and plate of fresh fruit arrived in our room! Fabulous!
I’d booked the duplex suite. Much nicer than the photos. Upstairs had a huge bed in a nicely decorated and a great sized bathroom with both a large shower and a separate bath with whirlpool. There’s steps down to a self contained terrace that has sofa and two sun loungers that get the sun even in January. Further steps down to the living area that has lots of bits of snacks tea and coffee and seating. There’s a small roof terrace with a plunge pool on the next floor for guests but we didn’t that
Only niggle is the coffee machine that is very lukewarm but they also provide a kettle so we used that ( although you have to go back upstairs to fill it). But a very small thing in an otherwise perfect stay. Checkout is 12pm so lots of time to enjoy the bed and they will store your bags so you walk the popular park nearby. Both the 1898 had winter offers but this was a third less and a much better room and service.

I dont think you would get a guarantee when booking but we found the reception staff super helpfull so if you request it I'm pretty sure when you arrive they would do their best to accomodate you. For reference, our "double bed" was two larged beds pushed together and very comfortable to be honest. Hope this helps.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
