Nouvel Hotel strikes a balance between charm and discomfort, according to guest reviews. While some rooms are commended for their spaciousness and cleanliness, others are criticized for outdated decor and insufficient amenities. The service quality is inconsistent, with reports of both professional conduct and rudeness. The hotel's location earns praise for its proximity to attractions, though opinions on value for money are less favorable, with guests often expecting more for what they pay. The historic early 20th-century ambiance, however, is a highlight for many visitors.

A traditional hotel, the initial impression was good (although the service at reception was slow), decent bedroom with good sized en-suite. Shower was fantastic with really good water pressure (like standing under a waterfall). Location couldn't be better, 1 min walk from La Rambla with it's bars and restaurants and 5 min walk from main metro and bus terminus at Catalunya. Would return again without doubt.

On the whole this hotel was very nice and comfortable, our room wasn’t the biggest in the world and we mainly had to keep the curtains closed as there was another rooms window right opposite about 6 feet away. Room would have benefited with some sort of nettings or blinds to give some privacy, the room was dark but cosy and well presented. Bathroom was again small but nicely presented and well maintained, the hotel is your typical small boutique city hotel. There is a small lounge area and a dining room/breakfast room, other that it’s pretty much what you see in the pictures. Staff are friendly and approachable, we had breakfast here and it was nice to see you could pay for what you wanted I.E. just toast or small continental or a larger breakfast and very reasonably priced. Don’t expect a buffet breakfast as shown in the hotels web page as it doesn’t exist, or didn’t while we were there. Breakfast was never busy but always took a long time as there was only one person serving, maybe the hotel could improve on this. The hotel is in a great location and it was easy to get to most places, either walking or public transport. To sum up the hotel, we enjoyed our stay as it was comfortable, nicely maintained, in a very good location and served its purpose, letting us enjoy our city break without worrying about going back to a bad/uncomfortable hotel. Something this is NOT. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

This hotel is well situated near many important sites, just off the Ramblas and near the old city, One of its real pluses is that it is located on a quiet pedestrian street. The hotel staff is very friendly and recommended two restaurants/tapas bars. We tried both and both were excellent. The room was modest but very clean and acceptable. The wifi was somewhat slow. We opted to have breakfast included and it was very satisfactory with many options to choose from. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked here as it was in a great location at a decent price. We stayed here for 5 nights and while the location was truly in the heart of La Rambla and had easy access to many shops and restaurants, the hotel itself is very old and lacking in basic amenities. Knowing we would be staying here for about a week long, they placed us in one of the worst rooms in the building. It had one small window that had views of the adjacent brick wall. The shower head was detachable and would fall off and hit our heads every time we showered if we didn’t remember to hold the shower head itself so it wouldn’t fall. The sink would constantly clog up with each use. We came when the weather was extremely hot and the ac barely worked so we mostly kept the window open. There was no refrigerator or iron so if you are here for an event you are unable to have wrinkle free clothes. Overall, you’re better off choosing to stay at one of the neighboring hotels with cleaner amenities.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, as a family of two adults and 10 year old son.

Firstly, the location is perfect if you want to be near to La Ramble and Gothic areas. It's literally a 1 minute walk to La Ramble and 5 minutes to the Catalunya square were most of the hop on and off buses start.

We opted for just a bedroom and no breakfast. It came with no window but if I'm honest, it didnt make a bit of difference as we spent all our time sight seeing and used to room to sleep in only. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. We loved the quirky old charm of bedroom and hotel itself.

We ate breakfast at 3 different cafes in same street as hotel and perfectly nice.

Staff were friendly and couldn't fault the hotel at all. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights mid-October 2022. Third floor room on the inside of building with window overlooking an interior “courtyard” room, was adequate for our visit as very little time spent in room apart from sleeping and showering. Room was very clean with aircon, bed comfortable, great shower. This room was probably one of the cheaper options. Several breakfast options are available at extra cost. Although there is no fridge in room or coffee making facilities there is a free water fountain and a pay coffee machine near reception. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
There is a restaurant available at the hotel but we didn’t use it. We did use a recommended restaurant that is excellent, close by and reasonably priced, called Julivert Meu.
A tip for travelling into Barcelona from the airport, especially if staying at this hotel, is to use the Aerobus which is just outside the airport arrivals and goes to Placa de Catalunya which is a very short walk to this Hotel and if return is booked is very reasonable price.

My husband and I were so excited to stay at this property and had booked and paid for 4 nights scheduled for October 2020. And then Covid hit and made it literally impossible for us to travel to Spain from the US. I contacted the hotel to ask for either a refund or hotel credit that we could use when travel once again became an option. I exchanged a series of emails with the hotel that began with "sorry, you are out of luck" but then gradually moved to "contact us when you are ready to travel" and left me with the understanding that they held a credit for us. In June 2021 we were able to rebook our holiday and I immediately contacted the property to confirm the dates and room style that we would like to apply our credit to. No response. Thinking that there was no response because our dates were over a year out I waited and recontacted them in November 2021. No response. I thought perhaps they had ended up closing their doors as a result of Covid. Imagine my surprise when I found that not only were they open but that their pricing was nearly half of what we had originally paid. I confirmed availability and pricing for our Oct 2022 dates and once again contacted them requesting confirmation of our reservation. I noted that while the current pricing was substantially different I did not want a credit for the difference - just confirmation of our Oct 2022 dates. I included all the emails sent back and forth that indicated we have a credit on their books. No response. I resent the email from a different email address with a read receipt. The email was read but still no response. I understand that Covid created more challenges than any of us could have ever predicted but I don't understand decision to completely ignore correspondence from a paid guest. I'm so disappointed in their lack of customer service and I'm very sad that because of their lack of communication I am in the position to have to write this review.

We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again. Our room had a lovely big bathroom and a terrace. It was really clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
The hotel is easy to get to from the airport, only a 4 minute walk from the bus stop (25 min bus ride approximately from the airport).
Perfectly placed for Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, The Cathedral, shopping, restaurants etc.

This hotel looks great online and it is in a perfect location, but that is about the only positive thing I can say about our experience. Room was big with small balconies overlooking the street below, but the decor hasn't been updated in I don't know how long. My wife and I had twin beds, which was awkward, and I don't think the mattresses had been replaced in a while. Bathroom was tiny and shower grout had mold in several places. A/C worked okay, but had to be repaired on the first day as it was leaking water. We went out to explore for a couple hours after checking in and came back to water all over the floor. WiFi was fast, when you could actually stay connected. Their captive portal required you to reconnect devices every 20-30 minutes which was frustrating when you're trying to minimize international data usage. This happened on multiple devices for both my wife and I. Rooms lacked even basic amenities like complementary bottled water each day. Safe in the room required a ridiculous process requiring room key to set your code. I've been in tech for 20 years and couldn't figure it out. When we asked staff for bottled water we were told we could use their vending machine, so we went to a market that was about a 5m walk away and bought our own instead. Staff overall seemed very annoyed and lacked basic customer service skills. They were not friendly or very accommodating, which detracted from an otherwise great trip to Barcelona. For the amount of money to stay there, we expected much more. I'm sure there are plenty of other comparably priced hotels in the areas that are way better. Needless to say, we don't recommend.

This hotel has great access to all of the top sites to see. We would definitely stay here again. The value for the price couldn’t be better. We loved the price and location the best. The comfort and cleanliness were excellent. They could have been more helpful with suggesting where to eat and get snacks with having some kind of menus displayed but overall we loved the hotel
