This hotel, nothing to write home about from the outside, is very warm and welcoming from inside. Providing clean, comfortable and modern rooms at a moderate price, the Santa Marta is situated just off the Pla de Palau (good public transport connections) between Barceloneta and the Barri Gotic. Due to the central location, it stays quite loud at night (the bin men come at 2am!), however the windows shut out the noise well. Breakfast is the typical Mediterranean set up: rolls, yogurt, boiled eggs, jam and honey. Nothing special but good enough to start the day. From here, many attractions can be reached on foot (harbor, beach, ancient quarters, Barceloneta, a number of museums), great bars and restaurants are also close by.

The main reason I booked this hotel was because they offer a quad room. I booked it not expecting much but knowing the location is okay (stayed in the area several times). This unassuming hotel is on a backstreet near to Barceloneta metro which offers great transport links. The reception staff were friendly and professional. The foyer was comfy enough and as with all of the public areas was impeccably clean. Breakfast was served downstairs in the basement and a great choice of continental bits and bobs was available. The hotel room was large, airy and once again really clean. The beds were super comfy. The bathroom was spacious. We had two windows that looked onto the narrow street and beyond the rooftops.
This is a great little hotel. If you want luxury it might not be for you, if you're after a comfortable clean central base then definitely consider it.

Was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. For a 2 star, it is modern with very comfortable beds and great shower.
Right next to estacion de Franca and close to metro and bus stops.
The room was not big but was adequate. Cleaned daily with towels changed. At times it was fairly loud outside but not hotels fault. The A/C can’t be controlled in the room so out of season it is warm indoors and only way to cool is to open windows.
The breakfast was continental style but the room is small and gets busy, food was replenished well and the coffee good.
The hotel charges a reasonable price and for central Barcelona at the price point I would recommend.

Stayed here for two nights over New Year. Not the best approach to the property but once inside you will not be disappointed. Reception very efficient, swift check in. Room on second floor with balcony was newly modernized and well appointed. Hotel well exceeds its two star rating. Buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of continental choices. Location is great for all the sights being only 15 minutes walking to La Rambla and the same to an beautiful beach. Thoroughly recommend if visiting Barcelona on a budget.

Close to coast and slightly away from the hustle and bustle of central Barcelona. The staff are so friendly and helpful - nothing is too much. Rooms are basic but clean and the beds are comfortable. The breakfasts are good a mix of hot or cold and a good selection of drinks. I certainly will staying here on my next visits to Barcelona.

Will not be staying here again. Room was tiny. Asked to love to a different room and would pay extra and they said no room Available. It was raining while we stayed here and I asked where could we get an umberalla and the guy on reception was no help. Bed covers horrible colour turns you off wanting to even sit on the bed.

Used this hotel when running in the Barcelona Half Marathon. The start is just 5 minutes away. From the outside, the area looks a little run down but don’t let that out you off. In checking in the reception was fast, really helpful and sorted some travel and route questions i had. Now like all hotels and places in the area, space is at a premium. The stairways and rooms are small but very well kept. The hotel and rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. The room was first class, small bathroom but everything new and modern. Breakfast is continental style and again can get a bit busy but food was perfect. Don’t hesitate to stay here. Perfect position for pretty much everywhere around with the metro and station both under 5 minutes walk. Will be back again for sure.

I had a double room (thought that I'd asked for a double). Smallish room but comfortable. Aircon worked, although control was on the wall and not reachable from bed. The temperature control didn't seem to make any difference. Excellent shower pressure. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful.

Just came back from our city break and o just cannot fault this hotel. For a 2 star rated hotel i can say everything is 5 stars....staff, breakfast, rooms, internet, location, cleanliness...everything. We will certainly book again if going back to Barcelona.

Location was excellent…walking distance to beach, restaurants and Metro. Room was very clean albeit a little small. .. beds comfortable.Great breakfast included with plenty of choices. Staff were friendly and attentive.Free wifi ... Air conditioning and lift. Definitely seems more than 2 star … price very reasonable . Highly recommended for a great short stay in Central Barcelona.

We arrived in the afternoon so check in was already under way.
If you are planning to arrive early, I am pretty sure that the hotel could store your luggage. They were very professional. You really do need to email them yourselves to be sure that they will meet your requirements.
I have to say that I liked the hotel and would be more than happy to book again.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
