Stayed 5 days in August, the hotel is in the University district of Barcelona. The apartment is clean and the rooms are nicely adorned and some even have a balcony (at least mine did). Subway station right in front of the hotel, ramblas at a 10 minute walk, so I must say I got what I paid for.
On their website they say they have a kitchen where you can cook your own food. I'd rather call it a breakfast room as it closes at 12 pm!! This really messed up my trip as I was planning on eating home, instead I was forced to eat lunch at 11:30 (I am italian and eating before twelve is a sin) and to go out for dinner which made me spend almost twice as much as I planned.

This hotel was really well decorated and clean. The location is great...not even half a block from the red line Urgell stop. The airport shuttle is less than two blocks away...very convenient! The bathroom was kept very clean and the sheets/towels were changed every other day. There is Wi-Fi, but the signal is pretty weak. My only real problem with this place is that you CANNOT check in after 9pm. I knew this when I booked the room, but will never make this mistake again. Our train ended up getting in late from Valencia unexpectedly and we had to book another room for the night because we could not check in. If we had cancelled, we would have lost our deposit which was equal to one night's stay. I feel that this policy doesn't make sense for travelers. You can't always control what time you arrive somewhere. If it wasn't for this, I would have definitely given this place 4 stars. One more thing...DON'T stay in a room with a balcony. The street noise is VERY loud.

Thanks for your comment. We do try to keep low prices avoiding night staff as we are a private flats community. Our restricted reception hours are described in all our booking partners description site. Being located in Barcelona center, our rooms with balcony to the back of the building are more quiet than the ones to the front indeed.

I was mixed about this place. There's a lot of good about it, but a couple of downers too. I had the single bedroom with shared bath.

The good:
- Location: Absolutely perfect. Half a block from the metro station and from where the airport bus drops you and picks you up. Walking distance to both Plaza Catalunya and Plaza Espagna. Plenty of cafes and supermarkets close by. Located in a classy old building, with lovely tall ceilings and beautiful tile work. Lots of personality.
- Staff: friendly, helpful, accommodating. All smiles.
- Cleanliness: pretty spotless, especially the shared bathroom. Clean showers, clean floors. Room was tidy and well kept.
- Wifi: superfast. Easy to connect. Always worked.
- Value: fairly decent, especially in a town where everything is extremely inflated during the summer months.

The downers:
- Uncomfortable bed: Really, it's time to replace the mattress, guys. It's pretty uncomfortable. I don't look for much in a budget place, and I'm generally happy, but the least I expect is a comfortable mattress to sleep on. This was a biggie for me.
- Cut off for check in time: This didn't affect me as such, but could've had I missed my flight (which I narrowly did) and had to take the next available one. The cut off for check in is 9pm, and if you don't make it for that, you're stranded. This also applies to if you happen to lose your main door key. Perhaps an emergency number wouldn't be a bad idea? Stuff happens all the time, and it's good to have a reassuring helpline in an unknown city.

We booked an economy double room for two nights at less than thirty euro a night. Not right in the tourist area, but a 10 minute walk away or you can use the metro which is 20m away from the front door. Absolutely spotless rooms, very bright and modern. We worried the economy double would be too small but it was very roomy. If you don't mind some street noise, try and ask for a room looking over the street. They had already charged our credit card for two nights when we arrived, so make sure you show up or give ample notice of cancellations because they do things by the book. Only negative would be the water-saving spring taps in the bathroom were extremely annoying, but the bathrooms themselves were spotless. A quiet, clean stay and excellent value.

We stayed here in September and would definitely recommend it to our friends. The room was very cute and the whole place had lots of character. Our room had a balcony overlooking a central courtyard - a great place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine after many hours on foot! The bathroom was always clean and we were pleasantly suprised to discover a well-outfitted kitchen. The area was very quiet (in comparison to other places we stayed in various cities). The hotel itself was alway very quiet. The Barri Gotic and La Rambla are about a 15 minute walk away, and there is a Metro Station (Urgell) about 100 meters from the front door. The only down side to this place is that there is only staff manning the office until 9pm - so don't lose/misplace your key to the front door (or try to check-in late)! Otherwise, it's a fantastic place and great value!

If you want to pay the price of an hotel for the accommodation of some low range hostel, then this is for you!
We've paid 60€/night for a small room with which is probably the worst bed I've been sleeping in.
The mattress was so old that you could actually feel each spring in it. It was also making a terrible noise everytime you'd move (which you do pretty often since the matresse is so bad) that would wake up each other .
The room was also noisy due to the location, so we've decided to close window, curtain, shutter.
It didn't really help, plus now we were hot.
We've to turn on one of this cheap fans that blow warm air and make noise a meter away from your head ...
Ridiculously old matresse, hot room and noise coming from the street, the fan and the mattress got us waking up pretty early and walk down the 5 floors ( no lift of course) to talk to Daniel the owner of this lovely place.
He seemed very surprise even when we mention he bad review on tripadvisor regarding "torture room" number 42, and the only thing he could come with is that we booked an economic room... kind of "you got what you paid for".
Finally we got ourself moving to the opposite room for the 2nd night (paid in advance (N43) which is as bad except for the bed.
The shared bathroom were ok but not great, with no soap or shampoo. Basically the only thing you'll get is the towel.
There is another not very welcoming room that is called "kitchen" where you'll get your included "breakfast". Basically a room where can try to make yourself a breakfast with a coffee maker and some coffee and two pots of cereals ( no milk).
You'ld e tempted to say better than nothing, but no, nothing would actually be better.

Anyway on the third day we were so frustrated and in need of comfort that we ended up booking a room in one of NH 4stars hotel and this for 80€/night

I've been sleeping in many hostel where I was most of the time paying half of what we've paid here and for much better accommodation .
My recommendation if you're looking for a cheap place would be to go to any cheap hostel or pay the 20€ extra and get yourself some 4stars standard room!

Some Budget Rooms are located in the fourth floor of our building-staris side, 7 of our 10 floors in the house have lift. We did replace the bed of the first room you had- 42 and gave you a bigger room for the same price. Standar Bedrooms have air conditioning, Budget rooms have a fan. Bathrooms do have soap available. We do offer breakfast kitchen facilities (0730 AM- 1230 PM-midday !), not breakfast.

Location: The place is 100 meters distance from Urgell Station. The best and most convenient way to reach the place from Barcelona Airport is to take Aerobus. It only takes less than 35 minutes to reach Urgell Station.

Facilities: The Studio with kitchenette is very spacious. The kitchenette doesn't have any burner but is equiped with microwave. You can easily hear your neighbor banging their doors.

Services: Staff Ana is very friendly and accomodating though the only service that they provide is just giving the key and give you the city map.

Cleanliness: They clean the room every other day. The entire facility is old but generally clean.

Security: They provide one card key that provides access to the main entrace door, floor entrance and to your room.

Price: With the spaceous room and its location, the rate I got for three nights is equivalent to one night at four star hotel. So Its a good deal.

Overall, I recommend this place especially if you are under budget constraints and like space.

Barcelona was our first stop in Spain and we spent 2 nights there. The bedroom was a good size for us to unpack and choose our clothes. I had a small balcony and it was quiet most of the time. The bathroom was shared and the hot water was inconsistent. Sometimes it was very hot and sometimes it wasn't. The neighborhood was close enough to city center but not there yet. We enjoyed that because it wasn't too noisy.

You're after a cheap place to stay in Barca?
You could do worse than this
It's budget with a capital B but it's in a great location close to a metro station near the city, whilst far enough away from the constant noise of Las Ramblas that you'll get a good night's sleep
The separate room I stayed in was basic by any measure, but at least it was cleaned every day, I had my own little bathroom, and all the doors were keypad lockable with security codes
My only issue was that there was nothing outside to say that I'd come to the correct address
A little signage might help here guys...

Hello :) I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this, when I went to stay it was only a double bedroom that I shared with my boyfriend. I know that there are a lot of different floors and I think 2 separate buildings to the hostel itself, so there may well be bigger rooms. Sorry I couldn't give you a proper answer! Good luck.
