On their website they say they have a kitchen where you can cook your own food. I'd rather call it a breakfast room as it closes at 12 pm!! This really messed up my trip as I was planning on eating home, instead I was forced to eat lunch at 11:30 (I am italian and eating before twelve is a sin) and to go out for dinner which made me spend almost twice as much as I planned.

The good:
- Location: Absolutely perfect. Half a block from the metro station and from where the airport bus drops you and picks you up. Walking distance to both Plaza Catalunya and Plaza Espagna. Plenty of cafes and supermarkets close by. Located in a classy old building, with lovely tall ceilings and beautiful tile work. Lots of personality.
- Staff: friendly, helpful, accommodating. All smiles.
- Cleanliness: pretty spotless, especially the shared bathroom. Clean showers, clean floors. Room was tidy and well kept.
- Wifi: superfast. Easy to connect. Always worked.
- Value: fairly decent, especially in a town where everything is extremely inflated during the summer months.
The downers:
- Uncomfortable bed: Really, it's time to replace the mattress, guys. It's pretty uncomfortable. I don't look for much in a budget place, and I'm generally happy, but the least I expect is a comfortable mattress to sleep on. This was a biggie for me.
- Cut off for check in time: This didn't affect me as such, but could've had I missed my flight (which I narrowly did) and had to take the next available one. The cut off for check in is 9pm, and if you don't make it for that, you're stranded. This also applies to if you happen to lose your main door key. Perhaps an emergency number wouldn't be a bad idea? Stuff happens all the time, and it's good to have a reassuring helpline in an unknown city.
We've paid 60€/night for a small room with which is probably the worst bed I've been sleeping in.
The mattress was so old that you could actually feel each spring in it. It was also making a terrible noise everytime you'd move (which you do pretty often since the matresse is so bad) that would wake up each other .
The room was also noisy due to the location, so we've decided to close window, curtain, shutter.
It didn't really help, plus now we were hot.
We've to turn on one of this cheap fans that blow warm air and make noise a meter away from your head ...
Ridiculously old matresse, hot room and noise coming from the street, the fan and the mattress got us waking up pretty early and walk down the 5 floors ( no lift of course) to talk to Daniel the owner of this lovely place.
He seemed very surprise even when we mention he bad review on tripadvisor regarding "torture room" number 42, and the only thing he could come with is that we booked an economic room... kind of "you got what you paid for".
Finally we got ourself moving to the opposite room for the 2nd night (paid in advance (N43) which is as bad except for the bed.
The shared bathroom were ok but not great, with no soap or shampoo. Basically the only thing you'll get is the towel.
There is another not very welcoming room that is called "kitchen" where you'll get your included "breakfast". Basically a room where can try to make yourself a breakfast with a coffee maker and some coffee and two pots of cereals ( no milk).
You'ld e tempted to say better than nothing, but no, nothing would actually be better.
Anyway on the third day we were so frustrated and in need of comfort that we ended up booking a room in one of NH 4stars hotel and this for 80€/night
I've been sleeping in many hostel where I was most of the time paying half of what we've paid here and for much better accommodation .
My recommendation if you're looking for a cheap place would be to go to any cheap hostel or pay the 20€ extra and get yourself some 4stars standard room!
Facilities: The Studio with kitchenette is very spacious. The kitchenette doesn't have any burner but is equiped with microwave. You can easily hear your neighbor banging their doors.
Services: Staff Ana is very friendly and accomodating though the only service that they provide is just giving the key and give you the city map.
Cleanliness: They clean the room every other day. The entire facility is old but generally clean.
Security: They provide one card key that provides access to the main entrace door, floor entrance and to your room.
Price: With the spaceous room and its location, the rate I got for three nights is equivalent to one night at four star hotel. So Its a good deal.
Overall, I recommend this place especially if you are under budget constraints and like space.
You could do worse than this
It's budget with a capital B but it's in a great location close to a metro station near the city, whilst far enough away from the constant noise of Las Ramblas that you'll get a good night's sleep
The separate room I stayed in was basic by any measure, but at least it was cleaned every day, I had my own little bathroom, and all the doors were keypad lockable with security codes
My only issue was that there was nothing outside to say that I'd come to the correct address
A little signage might help here guys...
