We had a great week at Banff Gate Mountain Gate Resort. I was a little skeptical based on some of the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised!! Great location - close to Canmore (grocery store, restaurants) and easy access to Banff National Park. The unit that we were in had recently been upgraded - new kitchen cabinets, new countertops, rugs, flooring, beds, furniture and baths. The beds were sooo comfortable!! Well stocked kitchen with many pots/pans/pyrex/mixing bowls and an incredible coffee maker! Each chalet has a gas grill on the deck, too. The pool was closed for maintanece while we were there. We needed more paper towels and dishwasher soap, and the staff was super helpful when I asked for more. There was also an outdoor fire pit for guests to use.. The views of the mountains are incredible, too! Already planning out next trip back!!

This was a great place to stay. Quiet cabins surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides. It only takes 10 minutes to drive into Canmore for any amenities you want. The cabins are older but well maintained. The beds were comfy, the kitchen very well stocked with dishes, pots, pans , etc. Each cabin had its own deck with mountain views, seating and your own bbq. Lots of activities on site, including pool, hot tubs, etc. We were delighted to see a newly surfaced pickleball court as well! If you want to be in the mountains and just enjoy the outdoors away from your busy life, this is a great place to do it!

We stayed here in January for a family ski vacation. The cabin was the perfect size for a family of 4. Upstairs bedroom with comfortable king bed and ensuite bathroom for the parents and a bedroom on the main floor wihh the two twin beds for each of our kids. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was a large entrance to keep all of our ski gear. It is very remote with nothing really to walk to except the main lobby but it had a games room that we visited once. It is a short drive to Canmore and Banff. I would stay there again.

Location is great if you have a car. Resort is badly in need of overhaul, terribly neglected and run down. Property is full of weeds, lawn that is neglected and in poor condition. Not conducive to sitting outside. At a mountain resort, this is a shame, the area scenery is magnificent but being outside at the resort is depressing. I had an issue with the location of my rental unit being alongside the 'septic tank field', has an unbearable and putrid smell / nauseating, in waves all day. I was told "there is nothing that can be done, your unit is along side the septic field", it only last a few hours a day".

I want to give a shout-out to Ben who took my call and fielded my questions. I called ahead of my visit to the area and he was not only knowledgeable about the matters I asked about, but also helpful and accommodating. If he’s an example of the quality of staff, I strongly recommend considering this location.

The only negative that we have about our stay, is not staying longer!
The unit was quiet, with lots of privacy, even though we are right next to the playground. The view from the deck, and windows are breathtaking! You really do enjoy washing dishes with the view from the kitchen.
Beds were quite comfortable, and the dark blinds made it easy to sleep in.
As we are here during the Covid19 pandemic, we didnt really go into the lodge other than checking in. As usual, the check in was a very smooth and quick process. You can enjoy being so close to Banff and Canmore, but being away from the crowds. One thing that appealed to us the first time, was the fact that it is a stand alone cabin. We have a 4 year old, and are always nervous about how loud our boy can be.
There are playgrounds, tennis court, and if you need to zip to the store, Husky and Shell are just down the road!
If you have had your travel plans for this year interrupted due to Covid19, this is a perfect place for a family staycation.

This is a wonderful location as the gateway to the Candian Rockies. Beautiful scenery. Staff is friendly and very helpful. But the chalets are in dire need of maintenance. Screens not fitting windows (no AC), furniture very worn, floors unlevel, overall unit needs updating badly.

Location is great. Just couple minutes off HW1 at Dead Man's Flat and you end up in a Winter wonderland. The view from deck , windows is absolutely amazing : combination of mountains , forest, snow take you breath away. Chalets are a bit outdated , but very cozy and authentic, spacey and clean. Cons: 1) the internet is sooooo slow; 2) pool and hot tub are closed at 8:30, seriously? 3) pets are not allowed. However, we would come back for sure.

The property has rustic charm and is tucked away on a mountainside. Great location and staging area for hiking, biking, snowshoeing...you name it...and all within a short drive through beautiful rocky mountain scenery!

I’d read so many reviews of this place before we visited but I intend to ignore bad reviews & make my own mind up & I’m so glad I I did. We absolutely loved it here & didn’t want to leave. The staff were lovely. The pool & spa lovely & relaxing. They have games books & dvds to borrow & there’s a gamesroom for the kids. The chalet was large, the beds comfy & the heating system excellent. We had a large deck with a gas bbq. The views were outstanding. The resort is nestled in the forest at the foot of pigeon mountain. We loved the peace & quiet & only a 10 minute drive from Canmore. Yes the chalets are a little rustic but it was spotlessly clean. If your looking for accommodation just outside the main tourist areas you won’t go wrong with this place & for what we paid (a third of the price than Banff or Canmore) we were more than happy. Ignore the bad reviews & give it a go, you won’t be disappointed

From the rental car area exit the airport towards AB-2 (Follow the signs). Get on AB-2 North for a short distance then transition to AB-201 West for about 21km to AB-1 West/Trans Canada Hwy. Stay on that for approximately 80km. Exit #98 at Dead Man's Flat, right on 2 St (Husky Gas Station), right on 2 Ave, follow 2 Ave over the highway and it becomes George Biggy Sr Rd which effectively dead ends at the resort.
