CoCo View Resort comes highly recommended for its impeccable cleanliness, with guests repeatedly commending the pristine rooms and well-kept grounds. The rooms, often described as comfortably rustic with stunning ocean views, provide a cozy retreat despite some finding them to be basic. The resort is lauded for its value, offering satisfactory experiences without exorbitant costs. Service at the resort is top-notch, with the staff's hospitality and efficient organization of activities standing out. While the diving amenities earn rave reviews, a few guests have noted the occasional discomfort from sand flies and a wish for a pool.

Hotel's Favourite
I did a lot of research prior to going. The reviews were mixed, for the most part they were good, as you can read for yourself. Some negative reviews I'd like to address using my recent firsthand experience:
1. Unsafe dive operations - I will debunk this one right now. As a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer that has dived world wide, examples being: UAE, Oman, Maldives, Seychelles, Philippines, and Florida, the dive operations at Coco View were very safe. Based on our boat, our DMs, Gringo and Joe, were top notch. There was an issue with one of our less experienced divers and Joe reacted right away and remedied the situation. Another safety example, the resort requires an orientation dive of their "front yard" for first time customers. The DM also evaluates your dive abilities to include buoyancy.
2. Trash at the dive sites - Again, going to debunk that one. As previously mentioned, I have world wide dive experience and have observed a lot of garbage at some of the most "pristine" locations. I did not see any garbage at the Roatan dive sites. One day there was a couple of items on the surface that I suspect recently blew off another boat.
3. The food was terrible - While not gourmet, it was good, plentiful, and there were choices. My wife has some dietary issues and the staff accommodated to the best of their ability.
4. "The resort is like a live-aboard on land" - Lets put it this way, we used the same dive sites as a local live aboard to include Coco View's "House Reef", that you can grab a tank and shore dive any time you want. A lot of reviewers disagreed with the live aboard on land comment, having been on a live aboard, I can tell you this place is as close as you can get to a live aboard on land.
5. "This is a 'has been' resort that caters to a bunch of old timers" - wrong again, we had a variety of people there, from early teens to senior citizens. There was good music in the evening and a bar that was open until around 9PM. You were allowed to hang out in the common/bar area as late as you wanted to play pool and if you required an after hours drink you could BYOB. Keep in mind the resort is geared toward diving, not partying. If you want a night life, go to the west end.
6. The staff pushed tipping - Yes, it was discussed during the resort orientation and a guideline memo was left in your room a day prior to checkout. Keep in mind the cost to run the resort is high, services many of us take for granted, electricity and indoor plumbing for example, are VERY expensive on the island and face it, we aren't paying a whole lot for two boat trips a day, unlimited shore dives, a well air conditioned room, and three squares a day. This said, not much is left over to pay the great staff, so they rely on tips. In fact there are part time DMs that work for food and housing, the only cash they get is tips.
7. Many did not like the second dive being a "drop off dive" - Meaning, you get dropped off at one of the walls and divers returned to the resort via the shore (one of the reasons for the initial orientation dive). I didn't see an issue with this as the dive sites were good and you were able to spend as mush time as your tank/dive profile/dive buddy allowed. Yeah, you had to hump your tank back to the gear storage area, but we did have a couple of divers with disabilities and they were able to coordinate with the DMs to get assistance with their gear. I saw this as an advantage for the many that didn't necessarily want to participate in the second dive, it averaged about half of those on the boat. The half that didn't want to make the second dive didn't have to wait around for those wanting to make a second dive.

The dive sites were excellent when compared to other places I've been to in the western hemisphere. I was able to attend a Lionfish hunting class conducted from a Marine Park representative (highly recommend the class and if you want to hunt the menace, it is required). A couple of interesting facts to keep in mind, the coral is recovering (nicely I might add) from a major bleaching event a few years ago and a recent disease. The fish population, as most of the Atlantic from Argentina to New Jersey has been reduced from the Lionfish infestation.
All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and like many others we plan on a return visit next year.

This was our first trip to Coco View. My wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoy eyed our trip. The staff is the best. It was laid back and beautiful. It’s mostly about the diving but if you’re traveling with a non diver that just wants to relax, they will enjoy it too. My whole family dives. The dive team is top notch. We were on a boat with Gringo as our dive master and Daviden along as well. Robert was our Boat Captain and was amazing and attentive. All of our dives were almost 1 hour. I would definitely suggest Nitrox because of this but you can do it on air. Just watch your deco time. Morning and afternoon 2 tank dives with the 2nd dive being a drop off. Very easy to navigate back to the resort on the 2nd dive. There is also the opportunity to shore dive from the “front yard”. There are ample rinse tanks for gear and they will clean and sanitize your equipment at the end of your trip for $15. Well worth it..

The grounds are beautiful and the lack of light pollution allows for a wonderful starry night view. You can choose from over water villas and bungalows or a beach house which is where we were. We stayed at Coco Casa , a 2 bed 2 bath unit with a full kithchen, screened in porch and front and back decks.

Meals are included and the food is great. Buffet style and nothing really fancy but no way will you go hungry. During our trip I celebrated my 60th birthday and the staff even made me a cake to share with my new friends.

There is a full service bar with reasonable prices and entertainment throughout the week. We will be back and I would highly recommend this property to anyone with a love for diving and a laid back vacation.

We have been going to Coco View since 2000. Many changes, most for the good! They let us stay for two weeks -one being our "ninth trip" and second week being our "free 10th trip". That was extremely nice of them! Diving is great! If you get a chance to dive with Marcos, you won't be disappointed! Saw many sea creatures just walking along the docks including moray eel, octopus and adult and baby lobster! If you're a bar person, Willie, the bartender has an impeccable memory for all his clients after one drink. He is amazing! All of the staff are friendly and accommodating! Only drawback is if it's raining for those that don't dive or snorkel during rain seasons, could use a pool and in room televisions .Former sister facility on Utila had televisions years ago.

I don't even know where to begin. I was one of the fortunate travelers to stay there in March when the world was shutting down due to Covid 19. I woke up to a cancelled flight; not knowing the reason why (the world was shutting down) but I never panicked once while I was at Coco View. That week was crazy, the details about our stay, curfew, and travels home were changing every hour. The management was BEYOND AMAZING. They never left out any information. The second they knew something a big announcement at breakfast/lunch/and-or dinner was made. The resort and management felt like a second family since I was delayed a flight home a whole week.

Thank goodness for the front yard. My diving was never interrupted. Being able to grab a tank and walk out into the ocean was fantastic and a lifesaver. CoCo view provides reefs, wrecks and snorkeling to everyone. The rooms were great and air conditioned if needed. The only toiletries provided is a bar of soap so don't forget your shampoo.

I am going back again in March to meet up with new friends I met during that crazy two weeks. The resort and crew that work there again were amazing. My stay there was unforgettable.

Now I know why there are so many "CoConuters" See you soon!

We just returned from a wonderful week snorkeling in a beautiful place! There were many return visitors, and now we understand why. For divers, they make it very easy, safe, and maximize the opportunities to dive by boat, as well as a sandy shore entry to the amazing reefs just in front of the resort. This is what we loved about snorkeling here. They offer to take snorkelers on the more shallow dives if you are interested, but it was a bit windy while we were there so we snorkeled from shore every day. We have snorkeled in many places, and the reef and sea life were healthier than we have seen in most places. If we were to get scuba certification, this is the place we would go. They are very thorough, safe, and have an amazing Dive Shop and staff.

As mentioned in other reviews, this is not the place for you if you are looking for luxury, lots of people, and night life. It is a great relaxed vibe, clean and simple accommodations, and plentiful, good food options (including shrimp, fish, and even lobster the last night!). Fresh water, tea, coffee, and lemonade/punch available all day, and a few snacks out if you need a little something during the day. Fresh water dispensers in rooms for drinking and brushing teeth as the tap water is not for drinking. They always had popcorn and some type of appetizer at the bar before dinner. Bar prices are very fair. Live entertainment a few nights was a nice touch.

In the rooms they provide soap and soft bath towels, but you will need to take shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer(if desired) - although I didn't dry or "fix" my hair all week! Our bed had a topper and we slept good, but the bed linens seemed a bit worn. A/C in each room adjustable to the temp you prefer and very efficient.

We enjoyed the beach area, reading under the palms in the shade, but a few cushions on the wooden chaise lounge chairs and perhaps a few umbrellas for shade would have been more comfy. Loved the hammocks around the property and even bought one to bring home.

All of the staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful. They offer suggestions for tips, and it's best to have cash for tips as well as for gift shop, dive shop, vendors to avoid extra fees for credit cards. All transport, baggage handling, and check in/check out are easy and efficient. They even prepared early lunch on the day of departure so you aren't hungry by the time your flight departs! Considerate thought!

We loved our time at CocoView and hope to return with friends!

My first trip to Roatan and CocoView couldn’t have been better. The resort is awesome. The room is what is expected and wanted from a dive centric resort. Functional and clean. The hammock on the porch was a bonus. The meals and the kitchen staff were great. The boats were clean and well maintained with the proper safety equipment. The dive lockers and cleaning tanks are very conveniently located just behind your assigned dive boat. Our dive master Dave Lee along with Mel and Captain Jorge were the best. So knowledgeable of the sites and very freely pointed out awesome animals big and small to photograph. The management makes it all look easy…props to them!

When our dive group (32 of us), showed up a day late due to American Airlines cancelling our flight two hours before it was to board, most of us arrived without luggage. Stacy, the manager, and the folks at CoCo View went to work trying to make us happy in a bad situation. Patty with Dockside Dive Center loaned, those of us without our gear bags, a full set of dive gear to use until our bags arrived. Loaned! She said she had faced groups without gear in the past so it wasn't her first time helping divers that just wanted to dive at the dive resort.
The trip is always scheduled Saturday to Saturday. Since we all didn't arrive until Sunday, the resort was going to find rooms for those of us that wanted to get that day that we lost back. No charge. Stacy happily offered laundry services to anyone that did not have their bag yet. No charge.
This was my 8th trip here. I love this place. As a dive shop owner, this would be the only place that I would bring guest to if my husband were ever not able to come on a trip. You really are family here. It is safe, the staff is great, the food is good, the diving is wonderful.
I have been asked if I ever get tired of going to the same place all the time. My answer is nope! it is always different. This year we had Spotted Eagle Rays daily around the Prince Albert, digging up food in the sand. A couple of years ago, there was a Hammerhead Shark that hung our for a few weeks. I never get tired of laying in a hammock on my balcony or Dock Diving after dark, looking for Octopus, Eels and Lobsters.
I will never get tired of going home!

Needed a low stress dive vacation and Coco View was the answer.

It’s a dive resort. There is no pool, there is no beach and there are no parties till late.

There is excellent diving (24x7 shore diving on a wall 75 yards out) with an extraordinarily well run dive operation. The food is good, not gourmet, but consistently tasty. If you get up early you can make the first pot of coffee as strong as you’d like.

The rooms are clean and the beds are great. There are no televisions or phones in the rooms. Most rooms are over the water and have hammocks. Get off your phone and go lay in a hammock.

The same family has owned and managed it for around 20 years and some of their employees have worked there almost that long. Honduras has no unemployment benefits. When the pandemic hit, the resort kept paying the staff and the repeat guests kicked in over $100,000 on a go fund me to keep the staff afloat. That is how special this place is to some.

Bring bug spray as the no-see-ums are vicious at sunset in particular.

If you want to dive a lot, especially as a new diver, it’s a great place to build your skills. The access to the wall 24x7 and it’s a great dive site.

It’s also great for macro photography and you can stake out a location and take the time to get a shot.

They also do 2 boat dives daily- so 2 tanks per dov

My husband and I stayed here for a week and completed 21 dives in 6 days. Weather was windy and rainy many days but that did not stop us from diving. The dive staff is professional and work very hard to get your gear ready for you. The food was satisfying and abundant. Even with many college students there we never ran out of food to eat. Breakfast staff was always friendly and fun to talk to. The grounds are pretty rustic and tropical and it feels a lot like dive camp. I would stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised!
I wanted to go diving in Roatan, and this place checked all the items. Well rated, lots of diving and no need to leave the location unless you wanted to. They have their “Front Yard” that you can shore dive 24 hours a day, complete with a ship and airplane to dive on – plus walls. The boats take you out twice a day t o many varied locations, and then are able to drop you off in the front yard on the way back if you want to.

Staff were great, friendly and extremely helpful with anything. Rooms were spotless, never even saw our housekeeper. Dive operations ran like clockwork. Diving gear storage was right off the boat, along with cleaning stations and showers.

We will be going back!

Is there a pool at the resort?
Answer from Tourist40192513249
No, there is not. My wife is not a diver, but she loves to hang out in the gazebo out over the water. The snorkeling there is some of the world's best, and the bar is a few steps away. There are sun decks, as well as a covered gazebo, both with ladders to exit the water.

Besides the covid test to enter the country, Roatan and Coco View take it seriously. There are mats to clean the soles of your shoe before entering the clubhouse and dive shop. Masks are asked to be worn within the clubhouse and dive shop as well. Off property there are lots to do. Coco View offers off property excursion. If you want to go on your own they will call a taxi for you. One can go zipping, hug a sloth at Daniel's, take a free chocolate tour, free rum samples at the rum distillery, go to the west end, etc.. The west end is about a 45 min ride but it was a beautiful ride.

10-12 - they have very large dive boats. They may have downsized since then. When we were there in February - Airport staff all had masks on. Also, I'm sure they will downsize if necessary for this covid-19. We've been going there since 2000 and they are definitely a responsible dive operation/resort!
