Property's Favourite Review
My wife and I just completed an eight day stay at Coral Cove in Little Bay, Jamaica. We were joined by life long friends and this was our second visit.

Coral Cove is off the beaten path and literally on a beaten path. It is about a 1/2 hour from Negril or an hour and 1/2 drive time from Montego Bay. The resort sits on the southern coast of Jamaica.

The resort markets itself as a wellness resort…one can certainly pursue cannabis or mushroom experiences and yoga, but the property is so much more. It has a pool area adjacent to the rock line of the ocean and a newly built bar and patio area. There is a “cove” in the center of the property, enabling easy snorkeling and manual boat craft - equipment provided free through the resort.

Nothing is elegant, but everything is functional and often times cute. Most rooms literally face the ocean and the waves slapping the rocky coast line offer a melodic slumber. The rooms also have a mini fridge and very comfortable beds.

Meals are provided at your leisure. The fare is usually with a Jamaican theme and some offerings were a little spicy for my wife but we worked with the kitchen to get through it with some success. Breakfast, each day, offered warm porridge as a starter with fruit that was always delicious. Fish and chicken are staples of the dinner menu.

The community of Little Bay truly has virtually no infrastructure so utilities and water must be transported. Walking through the community one gets the sense of the “real” Jamaica - away from mega resorts. The residents have so little and yet are always smiling, welcoming and seemingly happy. This is especially true of the employees of Coral Cove - Maxine, Casey, Nate, Bunny, and so many others. When was the last time you vacationed and authentically met the staff tending to your services - indeed, knew their stories and lives…? It was enriching and special to meet these people and make these connections.

Management/Ownership was on site during our stay and making improvements to the property everyday. They have ambitious plans and hope to attract guests who would typically be drawn to a traditional Jamaican resort.

One special highlight each night was sitting on the point of the property for our Happy Hour and enjoying a magnificent sunset every evening. The ice in my drink slowly melted while watching the sun slowly melt into the sea. Ahhhh….🇯🇲🙏❤️

Soon come!

What a hidden gem! Felt like we were the only ones there...(there was one other couple) but we saw them rarely. Even at capacity I think this would be a place that you could have a very private experience if you wanted. However if you like to party there are multiple places to congregate. The staff are attentive and unobtrusive and were on top of anything we could wish for. The Cannabis was fantastic and we enjoyed being able to smoke on the property and not be glared at by other guests... pretty much the only place I've been able to do that since before it became such an issue.

Our dream trip was just to relax and enjoy our cannabis/tobacco friendly vacay and bask in the Jamaican sunshine for 8 days possibly doing absolutely nothing, however our experience became so much more than that.

If you want to have adventures, just ask...they will set you up with whoever and whatever is needed for that. Or you can just stay in the beautiful resort and be taken care of like family. The food is delicious and there is plenty of variety in the menu, let them know if you have any requests and it's done. Our meal plan included breakfast lunch and dinner and all were delicious. My husband is a picky eater and he loved the food, which is saying something!

Rooms are clean and well appointed, King bed was perfect in the Hibiscus Cabin and the outdoor shower was amazing. We had some issues with the Wifi but that was quickly addressed, if you need something just ask. The Staff are all amazing!

All in all a wonderful - off the beaten path - true local flavor resort that we will come back to again and again!

My wife and I visited Coral Cove over the last week of February. We found it to be a lovely, tranquil and welcoming destination. The resort is right on the rocky coral coast, with beautiful views of the sea from just about everywhere (watching the waves crash in from your bed is pretty cool). Despite the rugged rocks, there are small sandy access points, perfect for small children, snorkelers, kayaks and other small watercraft.

The management is friendly, engaging and always helpful. This attitude extends throughout the staff, from kitchen, table servers and housekeeping to grounds maintenance.

We opted for the breakfast and dinner plan (lunch is also available), and found the food to be fresh, flavorful and local. Real highlights for me were the fresh fruit at breakfast, a Jamaican porridge, and the wonderful curry and jerk seasonings on chicken, fish and lobster. Other highlights include a small pool, covered bar and patio area, and some beautiful spots to watch the sunsets each evening.

The only drawbacks are the incredibly pot-holed roads approaching the resort, and the occasional reggae beach parties nearby, with their highly amplified music. Still, reggae is so central to Jamaican culture that it is all part of the experience. And the overall tranquil, super-relaxed atmosphere of Coral Cove makes it all worthwhile.

This was our first time to Jamaica and we were thrilled with finding this little treasure. This place is off the beaten path and delivered a unique experience with a level of privacy that we never expected. They treat the guests like family and will cater to your needs in so many ways. We were the only guests for part of our stay and they made us feel so special. Every meal was home cooked and the seafood was caught the same day it was served. Yeng, Cynthia, Hope, Charmaine, Keisha, & Maxine took amazing care of us and made us feel truly at home. We snorkeled on our own and felt like we were on a private island. The massages by the beach were wonderful and reasonably priced. The all inclusive package was totally worth it. This is a place to leave the stress of the world behind you and disconnect.

My husband and I have been coming to Little Bay, Jamaica, since 1995. It's a small fishing village about 10 miles southwest of Negril.

The last few years we stayed at a private home but this year we returned to Coral Cove Resort and Spa. We forgot how wonderful this place is. The food is amazing, the staff is very helpful and friendly and the accommodations are the best you’ll find in the area. The resort is on the ocean and you can't beat the sound of the waves as you sleep. The resort offers some of the best sunsets.

The resort has a small cove right outside our room. When the ocean is rough, one can swim and snorkel in the cove. I think it’s better snorkeling than in the ocean.

You can do an all-inclusive plan or B&B plan. Whatever you choose, the staff will accommodate you. Coral Cove is a beautiful place with a true Jamaican experience. You won’t be disappointed!

Coral Cove is a great trip place...if you are looking for the definition of Jamaica (Island time, local food and recipes, hardworking and smiling service staff) this is the place. My husband and I love ❤ this new home away from home. The locals as you walk down the road are kind. They are proud of their area and always willing to chat. We returned home with a renewed understanding that money and things are not necessary to be happy and generous with a smile. This resort Coral Cove is where you will find peace, privacy, and a profound tranquility. Coral Cove is paradise on earth, and my husband and I are already planning my next trip to back to Coral Cove...Jamaica little gem...

I found this place while searching for a quiet, sunny location to take a winter vacation. The goal was to relax, and this place ticked all the boxes. It's pretty isolated, so be sure you bring everything you need with you. The resort is about a 2 hour drive from Montego Bay. I was able to arrange transportation from the airport ahead of time through the resort. It's a long drive over twisty, turning, mountainous roads, but our driver knew what he was doing, and I never felt unsafe. I booked a premium ocean front room. The room was basic, but comfortable and clean. The views from the top floor can't be beat. For people with mobility issues, beware of the upper floors. The only access to the third floor was from a spiral staircase, that is both whimsical and a little scary. We managed it fine for the entire week without spraining an ankle, and my husband hauled our bags down without any issues. The resort staff hauled it up for us when we arrived. The grounds of the resort are well kept. There's lots of little walking paths and sitting areas to wander off to, and beautiful scenery evertywhere you look. I spent a fun afternoon just wanding the little tidal pools. The beach is rocky, but swimmable. You'll definitely want water shoes. The staff were friendly, and were more than willing to help you out with anything you needed. Sometimes finding the right person who can help you takes a little time, but everything worked out for us. The food was quite good. one of the quirks of the resort is that there is no menu. You tell them about any food allergies or restrictions, and they jus bring you a meal at set meal times. There is an emphasis on local foods. They didn't serve anything that I ddin't like. The place is really just a hidden gem.

Short answer – go…it was great!

We stayed 4 nights at Coral Cove in Mid-March. They are just now recovering from the pandemic and the person that ran the place for years recently passed away, so they are going through transition. My understanding is we got a discounted rate because they are relaunching. We arrived, they gave us a welcome drink and a letter with information we needed for the week. Someone took our stuff to our cabin. We never locked the door and at some point, realized they did not even give us a key. There were only 9 guests, at most, while we were there. Never felt unsafe the entire time. Cannabis and mushrooms were available, and smoking permitted anywhere.

The grounds are beautiful. Lots of green, buildings in good condition, string lights at night, an outdoor bar with great views of the sunset and two private coves are some of the features

Our room: Most of the rooms are in larger buildings, but we stayed in the small stand-alone Hibiscus cabin. It was basic, clean, had a mini fridge with water, AC, ceiling fan, and a cool outdoor shower. The front porch was a great place to relax. We also had a table in the front yard that is shared with the neighbor cabin. The views were great, and the bar was only a few steps away.

Meals: Breakfast is included in the room rate, and they offer lunch and dinner. You do not order…you get what they serve. They were willing to accommodate our no fish no seafood request, so our meals were pork, chicken, and goat. They rotate guests around to different tables tucked in around the main building, some are under the stars, and some are under cover. Some of the chairs were hard for a small person and could not be moved. Everything was good and the servers were attentive.

Activities: They had yoga each morning and sometimes something in the afternoon. This will increase once they are back in full swing. There are sea kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling stuff. You can go on a community walk, visit Bob Marleys vacation property, visit a cenote, tour a marijuana farm, or go fishing by boat among other things. We had spent 4 days traveling the island before our visit, so we just stayed put.

I rarely visit the same place twice but would like to go back here with friends when things are back in full swing.

Our stay at Coral Cove retreat was incredible! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were met with the best hospitality and kindness Jamaica has to offer. The food was incredible, they even added fruits to the menu when they learned we hadn't had certain kinds before. Loved snorkeling and kayaking, paddle boards too! The pool was awesome, the staff was beyond amazing! They took us off the resort to some mineral ponds, very accommodating and just excited to share this beautiful place with visitors. Can't wait to go back!

I am a Jamaican but have never gone to this section of the island, Little Bay. I however took my sister and her family there. I honestly thought we were lost but low and behold nestled in this remote section of Westmoreland is a cozy little place called Coral Cove. That night was the most amazing - the star-lit sky and the in horizon soft lightning lit up the sky. My sister slept under the stars. The food was good as my picky eaters - my daughter and nephew cleaned their plates.
If you are a TV person, there is none in the rooms.

What is the tipping policy? Is American ok? Coming in January abd wanna be prepared
Answer from Christine W

I think I over-tipped, but I wanted to make sure everyone was included...I think I left about $500-$600 for the 20 employees that work there. It just seemed right. The food was too amazing. Accommodations were always just right. They work hard to give you a special experience - I think they earned every penny.
