Stayed in a hotel that has been around since early 1900's. Reserved 3 nights from looking at the room choices from their website. The room was a bit of a disappointment, the room was not as it appeared in the pictures as a vintage room with wood decor it was not. It was a tired small hotel room with worn carpets and furniture that needed upgrading, renovation and replacement. Take note: bathrooms are small and was hard to accommodate toiletries of today's traveler but plumbing worked, vent cover was damaged and needed replacement. The hallways are huge, as they were in the era of its opening, with armchairs throughout that were neglected in their appearance and should have been recovered or replaced. Hallways and room had odor of decades and decades of cigar and cigarette smoke BUT hotel is non-smoking today.
My biggest NEGATIVE was housekeeping, I had to, phone or personally, ask the front desk for additional bedding, facecloths, drinking glasses, teas, coffee and soap bars. Our reservations were made for 2 persons so housekeeping should been made aware and supply the rooms accordingly.
Biggest positives: Location, location, location convenient to all downtown attractions, parks, and pathways. And the price we paid was mid priced.
Limited parking on property but video surveillance during the evening by night staff was appreciated.
A piece of OLD Saskatoon, a bit more room renovations and greater housekeeping detail would have received a higher rating.

What a wonderful hidden treasure in downtown Saskatoon. Original woodwork, brass and marble takes you back in time 115 years. Friendly staff are happy to show off the majestic meeting and dining areas and very knowledgeable on this majestic hotel's history. Spacious rooms with high ceilings haven't been updated for a while but that's part of the charm of this century old gem. Winston Pub a fun spot for live music and good food. We'll be back!

The hotel is downtown. Environment is exactly the same as all downtown areas anywhere. This hotel was safe and secure. Beautiful old decor, clean, awesome beds and pillows, good size room, everything worked and was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant and pub were so beautiful and the food and drink was excellent. Stayed with my 24 year old daughter and we enjoyed our time. We couldn't hear anyone in the other rooms at all and it was very peacful. The parking is limited and in a back alley. There is a wonderful Cafe called Living Sky Cafe next to the hotel that has the best breakfast. There is a large unhomed population around the area. This did not bother us but may bother some.

Beautiful old hotel surrounded by dirty down town adventure. Knowing the state of the down town I booked the hotel anyways. I figured I’d put up with some things to experience the history of the hotel. Yes the bed was comfortable and the linen soft and clean. The parking was to be park two cars deep behind the building and leave nothing in the car. If you park behind another car, leave your keys so the door man can move your car. We checked that out and there was homeless people out there in the afternoon; we parked on the street for the night. Everything was fine. There is beautiful pub, much quieter in the basement. The lamps didn’t work, well flickered when we moved the bed because the entire electric plug. The TV didn’t work and the lady at the desk couldn’t do anything with that. It also had a toilet that flushed by itself every hour. Flapper wouldn’t seal then it would trickle down until empty then flush. Sooo I booked and pre paid on Expedia which thereby left me vulnerable to no compensation. Trying to be a savvy traveller and help others. All this place needs is a body chalk outline.

What a great place to spend a couple of days just to relax and re-group. The tons of restaurants nearby have us great choices to meet up with friends and family. We didn't need to use our car all weekend!

The Hotel Senator never disappoints and we loved the coffee and breakfast boxes and hope they stay.
One change we would suggest is to have a small table and chairs near the windown in 214 so you can have a quick relax and enjoy the view before heading out to enjoy the city.

Very cute grand old hotel, very clean and excellent, helpful staff. We stayed in 2 different rooms, both of which were quite different in layout from each other, nice size though, and very quiet. Free parking available at the back of hotel. Walkable to everywhere downtown. Very safe and secure in the hotel as everywhere requires keycard access. Do not expect modern or updated as it is not. It is a beautiful old hotel with new touches. Steakhouse on main floor was fabulous!

Disappointed. This Hotel could be wonderful if it had the right management. Front desk manned by a not very welcoming staff member..no parking to speak of unless you wanted to park out back and then limited. We had to pay for parking. Room adequate but tired no kettle to make a cuppa, no teabags only coffee pod. Breakfast diabolical, dodgy looking muffin, orange, apple, yoghurt. No fresh milk for tea. We ate elsewhere. First night couldnt get to sleep because busker outside played until midnight. Do not have front rooms facing street as you will get no sleep. Overall really disappointed..luckily only stayed 2 nights....Never stay there again.

Nice old hotel. Loads of character. Beautiful old building with a great pub. We aren’t sure our bedsheets were cleaned when we arrived. Unfortunately the homeless people are all around. We were warned not to leave valuables in our car. The free breakfast was terrible. We won’t stay here again.

When my wife and I go on a date night we stay at the Senator. The staff is very friendly and the food and drink at Winston is very good. They also have a really nice continental breakfast. We also got 10% of at Winstons just for staying there.

I stayed in this hotel fifty years ago when I first came to Saskatoon so this was a trip full of nostalgia and it didn't disappoint. Staff were very helpful and polite. Winstons served good food and drink. The discounts were very much appriciated.

Stayed in room Jan. 03 - 06 and free breakfast was cold cereal, toast, yogurt, or cut fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, orange juice and that is your continental breakfast.

Parking worked out fine for me. I arrived around 4pm. You do need to leave your car keys at the front desk --- I guess they figure things out as more guests arrive.
