My wife and I stayed at Le Bonne Entente this past week for 2 nights (April 2024). We booked our stay about a month ago on booking.com and even though it was $255 total for 2 nights, some how it was $325-ish. They also take a $250 deposit compared to most places taking $50. This is 1st time I've ever been charged after booking online, very unusual. There was a 3% tax and another small tax for a total of roughly $26. There were some other fees not includeþ online, so be aware of some extra costs. The hotel is around an 18 minute drive from Old Quebec City (Frontenac Hotel) but that didn't bother me. I'm not sure what our room was called but it had a king size bed. The overall look of the place is nice and for $325 over 2 nights it's kinda worth it. The outdoor jacuzzi was a really nice addition that we weren't aware of. I've never been in such a big outdoor jacuzzi (nor indoor for that matter) and it was snowing too, the whole vibe was really nice. We ended up spending an hour each night in the jacuzzi till 11pm and our 3rd day there we spent like 45 minutes in it before we checked out at 12pm. Overall really good experience just don't like the added on costs and fees. A breakfast would've been nice but apparently you got to drop more than $250 a night for it to be included. The room was nice but not amazing. 4 out of 5.

Good day, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts following your stay with us ! We are delighted to know your stay with us was a really good experience. Indeed, upon arrival, we take a pre-autorization of 250$ + the amount of the total of the room + taxes. Most hotels have the same practice. The 3% is an accomodation taxes. In addition to the GST and the QST, you must pay a tax on accommodation when you stay for less than 32 consecutive days in an accommodation establishment in one of the tourist regions of Quebec. Thank you once again for visiting us and I hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again in a near futur, Warmest regards, Julie Poirier

This bucolic resort, in the middle on a large city, was having trouble getting back in the groove after a 4 month lockdown. The room we had reserved was not available so we were given an upgrade at no extra charge.
Not all the usual services were available but enough were to make our three night stay very pleasant.
I will be reviewing their excellent restaurant separately.

We traveled from Philadelphia to Montreal for the US Thanksgiving break and had a little extra time on our trip, so we decided to visit Quebec City. But with two young children in tow (7 and 9 year old), we wanted to find something fun for them as well. We selected Le Bonne Entente and could not have been happier! From the moment we walked in with great service at the reception desk (Louis-Charles, I believe?) to the minute we checked out, it was a fantastic experience. The kids loved getting a treat at check-in (and my wife and I enjoyed a glass of champagne!). We stayed in a suite that also included access to the lounge area, which was much needed and appreciated. The nightly happy hour was really nice, and the kids loved the play room (and we liked giving them some independence while we had a beverage and a snack upstairs). We also used the outdoor jacuzzi multiple times and it was wonderful. As for the distance to QC, we drove into Old Quebec and spent most of a day there and it was an easy 20 minute ride. All in all, I cannot say enough good things about this hotel!

Very disappointed with this so called five star, this hotel is in middle of no where in terms of location and the hotel does not even provide any transfers to downtown. The hot tub was not even working and customer service was very poor specially the customer director Louise was very rude and had no concern for client service. Initial room we got were motel level and we asked them to find better room they charged us crazy price, I could have stayed in downtown with better hotel options. This was our second trip to the hotel since 2016, the first trip was amazing but this place has run down in terms of property maintenance and customer service. Save your money and get a better experience in other quality hotels in Quebec City!

We did not like the service we received at this hotel. They listen but don’t hear you. We waited an hour for room service and over an hour for breakfast and our dinner last night. They also don’t pick up their phones, whether reception, spa or reserving a seat at dinner, forget it!!!! You get answering machines.
You’re on your own for towels and to get your room replenished the second day of your stay, they won’t make your room.
The room keys don’t open the doors from the parking lot but they are supposed to. We had to walk around the hotel. We won’t be staying here again.

The service was sketchy. On our trip through Quebec to the Maritimes, we found this one to be the most disappointing. For the price that we paid for the breakfast package, we received poor value for our money. The service level did not live up to their presentation. The staff from the front desk to the restaurant was mostly amateur . The information from the time we checked in was incomplete. The rooms were fine but the service was also poor in the restaurant as It took 2 requests to get 2 missing teaspoon from our cup and saucer. The waiter was running around serving other customers request after ours. The only waitress that provided the expected level of service was Theresa. The tables in the restaurant was in poor condition and very sticky like it was not cleaned properly. We asked the maitre'd to move us and it was the same. She said that it would be the same because of the veneer finish on the tables. The complimentary wine and cheese was a joke. A machine dispensed the wine and the cheese was Kraft slices wrapped in plastic like the ones you buy in the grocery store. The only redeeming factors was Charles the doorman and the shower that was in our room. We understand that we are coming out of the Covid pandemic but a 4 star+ resort should be able find better staff than most. We do not recommend this resort for the service that we received.

This hotel is far from being a high class accommodation. The Terzo room was far from being luxurious, the toilet was separated from the large shower. The toilet was cheap and difficult to flush. Upon arrival, there was almost no toilet paper and very few towels in the room. We wondered if they vacuumed the floor, we found dust under the sofa. It looks neglected. Toiletries are cheap and do not include what we found in high-end hotels. The mattress is soft and uncomfortable. There is no docks to charge phones, it is pitiful. Behind its supposed renommée , the BE is overpriced and over-rated. We ate at the Monte Cristo restaurant and we needed a reservation. They reluctantly found a table, it took 35 minutes to get the waiter’s attention. We were served a ridiculously small meal at an outrageous astronomic price. The waiter only wants to sell you wines, no interest in anything else. A refill of regular coffee is double charged. On top, we had to pay $25 for the daily parking from which we had to haul our luggages over stairs to get into that room. There are no soda machines. You also pay $20 daily for the pool. We did not know these charges and were informed upon arrival. We did not use the pool. After one night, we checked out and found a much better hotel and at a much reasonable cost. The carpets smell bad and an employee was vacuuming our area at 7 or 7:30 AM, being noisy, happy to disturb everyone. There are so many excellent hotels in Quebec, spare your $$$ to get better accommodations. They just do not to care about their customers.

Good morning Mme Louise, Thank you for taking this precious time to share your impressions of your stay and constructive comments that will allow us to make certain improvements. Indeed, there is a parking fee of $20 per night and a resort fee of $25 (in specific perod of the year). This information can be found on our website so that our guests are well informed before their stay. I would like to reassure you that the resort fees are not for the use of the swimming pool, but for multiple activities offered during the summer time. This fee, per night, is charged in several resorts in Quebec and America. I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to give us a second chance to regain your loyalty. Indeed, our Terzo rooms offer a more enveloping experience to our guests and the beds being softer offer a different experience. During a future stay, I invite you to book our recently renovated SENS rooms. The beds being firmer offer you a relaxation that meets your expectations. Thank you again for your visit and I take this opportunity to wish you a great summer! Sincerely, Julie Poirier

I do not recommend this hotel. There is a $ 20 cad charge every day for using the pool which is supposed to be closed at 8 pm. We could not swim because they closed the pool earlier because there were no towels. The spa was crowded , not really a place to relax! It is expensive because in reality this is 3 star hotel that pretends to be a 4 star or 5 star hotel. There are much better options at that price! Do not waste your money in this place

Have stayed here 5 or 6x over the years. This recent visit showed all the warts. First, they are grossly understaffed. They have only 1 or 2 front-end staff, BUT they also answer the phones! So they are Never available. Wait ten minutes to check in. Later, wait ten minutes to ask a question. This is disrespectful to the guests. The valet is the same, sometimes there is one, sometimes you wait ten minutes, sometimes none at all. But you're charged.

The housekeeping is not good. Maid would clean half the room, leave dirty cups and trash, more than once.
The food-service has really declined. Breakfast is nothing like the finer breakfast they used to serve. Now, it's like some Holiday inn with tired pancakes, old scrambled eggs in a tin bucket, and some unappealing meat/cheese. Dinner was terrible. Steak tartare dried out. Even the salad was wilted and bitter. They desperately need a chef.

And our room was "tres cher" [expensive] at $600+ per night, not remotely worth it. At this price point you have to deliver, but sadly it looks like the hotel owners are just squeezing every last CAD out of the place. At half the price, the place would be average; at this cost, it rates poor. Unless I hear they pour some $ in, hire adequate staff and a real chef, I, sadly, will not return.

Dear guest, I apologize for the shortcomings in service encountered during your stay: waiting at the reception and at the level of the reception service with the bellman as well as your culinary experience. This experience definitely does not reflect the BE experience that we are keen to offer our customers. I can assure you that your comments have all been sent to our team for immediate follow-up. I sincerely hope that you will give us an opportunity to regain your trust. I invite you to contact me personally during your next stay and I will take great care of you. Cordially, Julie Poirier

We stayed at the bonne entente for 3 nights. We were booked in the old section of the hotel and I am disappointed I did not read the reviews here before booking. Overall, if the hotel is a 5 stars, the room we were in was definitely more like a 3. The queen bed was very small, felt more like a double ! The pillows were so thin we needed 3 to make a regular one. Don’t get me wrong, we are not fancy travellers but I was expecting luxury at this hotel that I did not obtain.

Positive : the hot tub and pool were nice. The hot tub was broken but was fixed in the middle of our trip so we could enjoy it twice.

The room has a nice tablet that outlines the main points of the hotel. It should however be updated since the self serve wine tasting lounge is not opened (told the machines were broken and wine bottles haven’t been changed in a long time).

Also be aware, parking is not included and is of 19$ a day!

Disappointed overall, will not return.

It's about 15 km (8 mi) to downtown and old city. I find it useful to look with google maps when travelling go cities unknown to me. You can always use public transport which is reasonable and will avoid parking headaches. Enjoy Quebec City!!

Can you walk to Old Quebec City
Answer from Julie Poirier

Good day, we are a-15 minute drive to Old Quebec. We are close enough to the main attractions so it's worth the drive and far enough to enjoy the serenity and our natural environment to make you feel like you are elsewhere. Many options to go to Old Quebec. Taxi for around $30, bus upfront, $3 for a-30-35 min ride or our shuttle service upon reservation and availability for $7. In high season, it's every hour, so I do not understand the person saying we use a company as we have 2 shuttles running in peak time, both with our logo company ?! Regards

It is right, airport is 7 km away, We do offer shuttle service upon reservation and breakfast may be included, simply ask our reservation team and they will guide you through making sure everything is at your convenience. Looking forward to welcoming you at the Bonne Entente. Regards, Alain
