I was recently travelling on business in the Sudbury area and I chose to stay at the Travelway Inn based on the good reviews.
As my fellow reviewers have posted, the hotel is in a convenient location and the rooms are spacious, clean and had plenty of towels. The heating system also worked as it should.
Sadly, the hotel’s WiFi was dead slow and download rates are a tortoise-like 3.0 Mbps so loading of any program is very lethargic to say the least. As a sales person, I am required to load my days events on my company’s CRM platform and the task took much longer at the Travelway Inn due to the WiFi available on the day that I stayed.
Breakfast is served at this hotel but it is not available until 7:00 AM which might not seem late if you are travelling on vacation but based on my schedule to visit customers, I need to be on the road early. Based on my personal experience, most business hotels would have breakfast starting at 6:30 AM and / or would at least have a pot of coffee available for guests who choose to rise early. No coffee or beverages were made available prior to the 7:00 AM breakfast opening and the restaurant area is fenced off prior to the 7:00 AM start. Early risers or sales people who need to get on the road early should be aware that you will need to stop at Tim’s for breakfast if you are leaving this hotel before 7:00 AM !
It may seem like an odd observation about this property but as a first time guest, I couldn’t help but notice that the environment seemed to be lacking in overall “energy” and it seemed more like the atmosphere of an old folks retirement residence than an actual business hotel. The Travelway Inn is adjacent to the Sudbury hospital so perhaps many of the guests are in geriatric care or visiting elderly relatives who are unfortunately in the hospital. It was a quiet almost sterile experience to stay at this property – which again is not necessarily a negative aspect but one that I found to be unexpected.
Perhaps the overall ambiance and character of the Travelway Inn has been designed by the owners of this property and this what they are seeking to foster but for a regular business traveler such as myself, I found a few of the idiosyncrasies of this hotel to be detriments to an effective work experience

We stayed at Travelway Inn to break a long trip back to S Ontario. The trip advisor reviews were good so we thought we would give it a try. Check in was smooth and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The location is easy to get to, very handy for Science North and connected to the boardwalk and lake path that lead to town. It’s a very pleasant walk. What was most impressive though was the customer service. I called the hotel to ask if they could accommodate a car/trailer combination. Jake, the hotel assistant manager was so helpful in making arrangements, even blocking off a number of parking spots with cones so they were saved for our arrival. This was really appreciated.
We will stay here again.

Our trip to Sudbury to see a sick relative was brightened by our wonderful stay in this excellently run, friendly, and clean Inn. The concept of having a small tuck shop sort of thing they call the pantry beside the check in counter was brilliant. They were healthy fresh food choices and a hot pot on the go all the time. One day the hot pot held a delicious Italian Wedding Soup and another a spicy chili. The lobby itself always had fresh fruit available as well as coffee and a water urn flavoured with fresh oranges. The Inn is only fifty metres from the hospital and the exit on the south wing is the closest if you face bad weather days, as we did. Ask for a room there if traveling in the winter. Finally the breakfast was, as expected, also excellent with both hot snd cold choices, juices, etc. Ask for the Hospital Rate when calling as it is the lowest cost available.

Great location within walking disrance of Health Sciences North. We always stay there when in Sudbury for hospital visits. If you have physical limitations you are able to request a ground floor room. Staff is very accommodating and breakfast is included.

Over the past ten years or so, I have stayed at Travelway Inn frequently because of the hospitable staff. The rooms are quiet and updated nicely. The beds are very comfortable and cozy. In the morning, a large and varied hot breakfast is served in an "all you can eat" style. There is also a free local newspaper, a business computer and printer, and an inviting living room for relaxing. I would highly recommend this place for business or pleasure!

Staff were helpful and friendly, parking was easy.
The beds/pillows were comfy -- we booked fairly last minute and could only get double beds (we're used to a queen), but we still slept great.
Breakfast was included in our room price and was surprisngly more than I expected (eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, muffins, juice, coffee, there may have been fruit too, but I was all about the protein).
The room was a bit on the small side if that matters to you, and it was maybe starting to look a little tired and dated, but it was very clean and the bedding was pristine!
Also, the wifi worked fine for us.

The outside of this hotel may look like it's a *little* bit on the dated side, but the inside is up to date, comfortable and very clean (our primary criteria when picking a hotel).
Possibly due to its proximity to the hospital (and having guests who are under treatment there), staff activity and protocols for cleanliness and covid protection seem to be top notch.
We had a good stay, good sleep, a decent breakfast and paid a reasonable rate for the experience.

We were paying an extended visit to help with a family member who was admitted to the Sudbury hospital. The team at the hotel were incredibly compassionate, understanding of having two toddlers under foot, and refreshingly flexible with our rooms and dates as the prognosis evolved. They made a very difficult situation tolerable and never once did our visit seem like an inconvenience. This hospitality included the house keeping staff, the restaurant staff and the front desk staff. Thank you all for your unselfish and warn hospitality. Furthermore, the rooms were clean and the premises is in excellent condition.

Great friendly service and good breakfast. The only issue this stay was with the mattress, which was very old and lumpy in the room we were assigned.
Even though Covid restrictions are lifted and you pay the same rate, you still need to ask for cleaning services if staying for more then one night.

Good Morning,
We offer a complimentary hot breakfast for our guests daily.
Our Pantry has a selection of snacks, as well as fresh sandwiches, soups and salads that can be purchased.
We have a listing of restaurants close by as well as ones that will deliver as well. If you would like specific information of the other dining options the staff at the front desk will be able to help you find what you are looking for.

Thank you for taking the time to ask us a question. We are located across the street from the shores of beautiful Ramsey Lake. A scenic boardwalk follows along the shores of the lake and leads you to Bell Park where you will find the Bell Park Public Beach. This sandy beach is a popular recreational spot and offers a snack bar, washrooms, lifeguards on duty (from 11:00 a.m- 7:00 p.m, gazebos, picnic tables, and children's playground. The beach at Bell Park is about a 10-15 minute walk from our property.
