I stayed here with my family of 5 earlier this year in January. I was thrilled to book the 2 Queen Executive Suite which is the only suite of its kind in the hotel on the 11th floor which is the top. It faces north and has a view of a bit of the river and trees. The customer service at check in and at check out also during my stay were very great they asked if I needed anything and told us about what the hotel area has or offer. I do want to say that I was not given a welcome amenity as a Platinum Elite Member.

The room has a full kitchen which is not used to its full potential as you can see it is really big (picture will be attached) but the cabinets don’t go all the way to the length of the wall and look a bit ugly because of that. The tile backsplash looks a little dated too but these are easy fixes the hotel can make.

The room also has 2 large flatscreen TVs one in the bedroom and one in the living area. The room had a sofa bed which was great for my oldest son to sleep on. The beds were really comfortable and the furniture makes the room look very modern. The windows all have modern blinds that block out sound and light.

The bathroom was spacious but there were not enough amenities for all of us there were only of each 3 towels and there were 5 of us in the room. There was also only 1 of each shampoo, conditioner and soap bar. No shower gel or mouthwash. I would say housekeeping should have a list of all rooms and how many guests are in each so they can put amnesties according to this includes towels, soaps, coffee, etc.

Overall I am really happy about my stay the restaurant Gibson’s on Queen is really great too and it isn’t expensive for what you are getting at all! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I hope the general manager is reading this and will make necessary changes and improvements to the housekeeping service and the 2 queen suite as noted above. I look forward to coming back soon!

The staff are friendly. The rooms and environs are clean. It's an ok hotel to be downtown; 20 min walk to Shaw Centre. My room was a King room but it was very small. The bed took up most of the room; about 2.5 meet between the foot of the bed and the TV. The bathroom is large enough as is the shower but the water pressure is very low. Ok place for one person with one suitcase. Two suitcases would be problematic as to where to put it. There is only one small drawer if you wanted to unpack. OK for 1-2 day business but not recommended for family or extended stays.

Hello CW800 thank you for your comments. I am sorry you found the room small. We do have a number of different sized rooms suitable like you say for larger families or a number of people travelling together. At the time of booking just ask one of our reservations agents for a rom to suit your needs better. I do apologize for the water pressure we will monitor this for sure. As for families and extended stays are suits are the way to go and some have full kitchens as well. We hoe to see you back with us again soon.

We were getting our house painted and needed a hotel that would take our dog. The initial rate quoted was approx. $265 and when we asked if that was their best price, they quoted $197 and when we asked again, they came back with $164! Clearly you have to be prepared to bargain for the best deal...and use your CAA membership.

The entrance is clean and well lit but you have to walk into the lobby through the smell of gas (?) and when we got off the elevator on our floor (7th), the smell of something else - equally foul - was really unacceptable! It also permeated through our room (708) such that we could not stay there. They found us another room on the 4th floor thankfully. But even in the parking garage, the smell of gas was distracting and disturbing.

The room was fine though oddly furnished and the wall sconce in the hallway is designed to take your head off! Be careful! The bathroom was well lit but it the shower was hard to adjust ...just when you thought you had the perfect spot between hot and cold, the temp shifted to stone cold or scalding heat.

Great location, staff at front desk helpful.

I spent 5 days here for work. Stayed in room 1003. King size bed was really comfortable. Room was very clean. Housekeeping does a fantastic job. Walk in shower was very nice. The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent. Plate GastroPub. No complaints. Enjoyed my stay. *Note, if you drive a large vehicle, park across the street in the church parking lot. It’s $40 a day.

We came from Toronto (still in complete Covid shutdown) to Ottawa (who had already moved to phase 2) for a little mini vacation.
We researched a lot of hotels and this one ended up being the best fit for location and surprisingly ended up being the lowest price. I’m completely baffled by some of the previous poor reviews that I read. This place is great. It is super clean, the front desk staff are AMAZING, and it’s a great location.
We usually book hotels like The Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites (the latter of which is literally kitty corner to this place), so we thought we were kind of stepping down booking a Holiday Inn 😂
We got a 2 queen bed room on the 10th floor with a view of the river. The room is very large with a little sitting area by two windows. I think it’s a very good size! Because of Covid, the rooms have only the necessities (no hangars, no soap or shampoos, no sugars or cups....etc etc, but that was expected). The front desk happily gave us what ever we asked for. Extra towels, more shampoo, coffee cups, more sweetener...whatever we wanted!
The front desk gave us a safe space inside to lock our bicycles and also extended our check out time to 5:00 pm (because our train didn’t leave till 6:30). What hotel let’s you stay 6.5 hours after the usual check out time with no extra charge?? I am super impressed with the service and thanks for having us!
If you were thinking about the other Holiday Inn as an option (the one closer to the Byward Market), I’d reconsider...its in a super sketchy area. I’d the say most central hotel to book in Downtown Ottawa is either the Chateau Laurier or the Westin or the Andaz.
If you want to be closer to the financial district, or parliament hill, this is the place to be.

The location is very convenient and the room and bed were very good although the noise of the air conditioner won’t let you sleep. But be careful when booking this hotel. We did the reservation through Booking, they don’t tell you there is no breakfast and that you have to ask a day in advance if you want your room cleaned. They say is because of COVID!
We changed to another hotel and there is no problem with breakfast and cleaning. Do you want these services? Go to a different hotel. This hotel is using COVID as a excuse not to give the service you should have in a normal one.

Hello Caalvareza06, Thanks for choosing to stay with us among your many lodging options. We also appreciate your candid remarks. I am ecstatic to hear that you liked both our hotel location and beddings. Please know that IHG has changed a few of our Brand Standards of all IHG hotels in response to the COVID-19 situation, such as our relaxed breakfast options and limited hotel amenities/services, I understand your disappointment on both the absence of breakfast and scheduled room cleaning. I am also sorry to hear about the air conditioning noise encountered. Know that your feedback is important, and I have conveyed your remarks to our hotel’s upper management as a reference for continuous improvement on our services. We would love to welcome you back so we can provide you with a more refined hotel experience. Best, Kenneth F. Case Manager IHGService

The location was great, just a short walk to the series of govermental buildings including Parliament, which contributed to the positivity greatly, as we could easily go by in around 10 minutes. The staff were nice. Parking has a cost, so be aware of that. The room had a great view and was very nice, and had the most plug outlets I've ever seen in hotel, very convenient. The hotel added to the positive feeling for the city, which is all you could ask for in accommadation.

We stayed here September 10 to 12, 2021.

I arrived at the hotel and was greeted by Artem at the front desk he was very pleasant, i was advised that as a Spire member he had automatically upgraded my room to a suite without me even having to ask.

Artem sent up extra towels for our stay due to the covid protocols, they arrived about 2 minutes after I arrived to my room.

The staff here were very pleasant and were so quick to respond to anything you needed, amazing Customet Service.

We were here for my girlfriends 50th birthday for the weekend and the room didn't disappoint, it had an amazing view with plenty of space and windows that opened to enjoy the fresh air.

I was truly impressed with our stay here and it was so convenient and close to several amenities.

We will be back and stay here again. The parking was underground and safe and secure. It was worth the 30.00 a night parking fee.

My wife and I are both sensitive to fragrances and allergens. When we reserved our room, we told the hotel this much and asked for a allergy friendly/fragrance free room. They couldn’t have done a worse job accommodating our needs. The room we were in was awful. It smelled like mildew, and the smell was so strong we could taste it and we were nauseous. They gave us the option of another room, but that wasn’t any better as it just smelled like chemicals and perfumes.

Additionally, the parking garage was so small I was worried that my car would hit the walls trying to park in the tiny spaces.. They j deactivated our room key at five of 11 in the morning and told me that that’s because check out was at 11 even though the sign in our hotel room said check out was at 12. I would definitely not stay at this place again.

Additionally did not know this hotel supported the free dumb convoy. Regret staying here
Room is themed minimalist…all throw away coffee cups and inconvenient storage of most used items
No breakfast. No online menu for restaurant.
