This place is fabulous! And worth the money! We had a room with 2 double beds, very spacious and clean and new. Nicely decorated. Shower was grand. Others in our party had a smaller room with queen size bed which was comfy and cozy. Loved the hot tub! The drinks on the deck were perfect in the hot weather. The evening meal was really tasty and the breakfast the next morning that was included was fantastic. Our overall experience was GREAT! Definitely going back!

We stayed here for two nights in August 2020. First, this is a brand new and very modern hotel that seems to have had no expense spared when it was designed and built and it is a much needed addition to Corner Brook which is known for its aging, run down and dumpy hotels. The rooms are modern, well appointed and the bed very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well and ran quietly, unlike most older hotels in Newfoundland that sound like you are standing next to a 747 jet when it fires up if you want AC. There is a craft brewery in the building and another one across the street. Toiletries were top notch as was the coffee. Great fridge in the room too. If you want a new, classy hotel to stay in that charges no more than the rest of the dives in town, this is the place.

There are a few negatives however. When we checked in we were told that due to COVID-19, they wouldn't be able to service our room during the stay. Really? That's why you get a hotel room. This is an obvious way to use COVID to save money as they clean the rooms when you check out. Why can't they use the same policies and procedures they use then to clean your room while you stay there? Ridiculous. To further this point, the TV never worked properly when we were there, so we called the front desk and an employee walked into our room, handled both remotes, the TV and asked for a hair clip to attempt to fix the TV, which never did work first nor last. We mentioned this a second time at the front desk, but nothing was done. So, if they can come into your room, no mask, no gloves, handle two remotes and the TV and ask for a personal item like a hair clip, why can't they clean my room while I'm staying there? Then there's the restaurant. Again it's a very nice space, but the menu doesn't fit the atmosphere, which is open and casual but the menu is attempting to be fine dining, with very few choices, high prices and very small portions. The food was good but not a good value. Unfortunately, if you're staying here you're in Corner Brook and your dining options are limited and if you venture outside the hotel you have a very good chance of having a much worse experience. Much worse. Also, they overcharged me for the room and I foolishly just had it emailed to me instead of checking at the desk. I noticed this in the parking lot, went back in and they said I would be credited the difference. I haven't seen anything yet over a week later. Parking is adequate but limited.

My husband and I stayed here recently and were very impressed. We stayed in a standard suite which felt very much like the Fogo Island Inn - minimalist design with a touch of Newfoundland. We also ate at the onsite restaurant/brewery. We’ve had their bar menu and craft beer before but this was our first time trying the full dinner menu. It was excellent!! Food was delicious, prompt and cooked to our liking. We had the fish chowder (second to none), pork belly, steak (perfection!) and lamb (so tender!) We also enjoyed the rooftop hot tubs which was a fun, relaxing thing to do to end the day. Recommend reservations for the restaurant and hot tubs though because of limited space (COVID) and they are busy (so nice to see!!) Continental breakfast was delivered promptly to our door the next morning (orange, juice, muffin, oatmeal, cheese). A very enjoyable stay, looking forward to doing it again! A truly unique little spot unlike any we’ve seen in this area.

Corner Brook, Canada
+1
My husband and I stayed here for a Saturday night staycation, as we live locally. Corner Brook has been sorely in need of Hew&Draw, and it is lovely to see a business that is locally owned and operated supporting the Newfoundland, and specifically West Coast, community: the micro brew (Boomstick) and restaurant (Best Coast Restaurant) are both Corner Brook owned and operated, the art work throughout the hotel features West Coast artists, all of the books in the lobby are Newfoundland authored, and even the soap/shampoo/moisturizer comes from East Coast Glow.

The hotel is beautiful, with a very clean, modern aesthetic. I could go on forever, but I specifically love the green subway tiles in the restaurant and lobby, the sleek, heavy wool chairs, the platform beds oriented to wake-up looking out massive windows, and the old fashioned telephones in the rooms.

The rooms are beautiful, but still functional. Beds are comfy, with lots of bedside outlets for gadgets, there is a coffee press in the room, and the bathroom had heated floors (which was a lovely touch on a cold, winter morning).

Obviously, I can’t say enough good things about this new hotel. In fact, I’m trying to book our annual work meetings in H&D’s conference space, just to have a good reason to stay again!

First of all, I will note that I lived in this area many years ago for work and am deeply familiar with the local culture, cuisine, and area.

This hotel is a much needed and much welcome addition to the area. We stayed here for one night during a quick layover and were very impressed with the room, it’s cleanliness, covid-19 preparations, and the general atmosphere, as well as the warm welcome our small dog received. Little additions like a dog bed were put it over the top. The location on the west street offers a lovey perspective of Corner Brook, particularly in the summer when tourist can stroll the are outside of the Covid-era.

The room was clean, minimalist but stylish, welcoming, and comfortable. The bathroom facilities were second to none, and the general atmosphere of the hotel is as good as any 5-star I have stayed in many parts of the world. It is hands down the nicest and most contemporary hotel within the western NL region and certainly in the top 10 within the province.

I would have given 5 stars lest the disappointment with the cuisine in the restaurant. We ordered a number of appetizers and mains from the menu but were much less impressed, than the room would have predicted. While the local beer was excellent, the prices reasonable, and the service impeccable, the dishes (we ordered quite a bit of seafood) lacked any type of local flavour. Indeed, the food was quite bland.

To elaborate, as an example, seafood chowder should be rich with whitefish and molluscs, properly seasoned with a strong fish stock, and something to be savoured, but what we received was an amalgamation of cream, peas, and corn topped with overcooked scallops, mussels, and glorified fish sticks. Newfoundland has produced some of the most wonderful chowders and this was embarrassing. The chicken we received was cooked but under seasoned and the shrimp were frankly like eating rubber bands, and had clearly been prepared from a frozen grocery store variety. Moreover, we ordered a few items from the bar menu and were again shocked by the lack of seasoning, and indeed, even the lack of finesse of the in room menu which looked like it was printed on an inkjet in a dingy office. Essentially, deep fried nonsense.

This hotel could easily contend with the likes of the Fogo island inn, but the chef needs to learn basic food preparation.

Overall, highly recommended and a wonderful long overdue addition but I would caution the menu until they get their act together.

Beautifully decorated with a beyond welcoming feel. This hotel, the restaurant, the hospitality is all 5 star. We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway with our friends.

We started with supper in the Best Coast Restaurant which was top notch! The atmosphere is cool and new, with a big city vibe. The drinks went down well and the Lone Flamingo Sour Beer is a must try (and this is coming from a stout drinker who doesn’t normally like sour beers).

After supper we headed back to our room where 3 other couples joined us for a glass of wine and a chat. Despite limited seating we were all comfortable as the rug on the floor makes sitting on the floor cozy.

Before bed, my husband and I watched Netflix on the tv and enjoyed the comfort of the bath robes and the amazing bed.

The toiletries in the bathroom were AMAZING! The scent of mint was intoxicating and I will be purchasing some of the items for sure.

The continental breakfast was so much better than any other continental breakfast I’ve had. The BEANS!!!! My heavens they were SO good. While my dietary issues stopped me from eating the pastries and breads, there was plenty for me to snack on while I enjoyed a delicious coffee. My husband was extremely happy to have homemade bread, muffins, and scrambled eggs. He said that all were delicious.

Thank you to the Hew And Draw, Boomstick Brewery and Best Coast Restaurant for the perfect staycation. We will definitely be back.

Just finished a 3 night stay at the Hew & Draw for some meetings.

We had conference facilities booked and they accommodated us perfectly with the requested room setup and conference phone. The room was also fully accessible with an accessible washroom attached which was great for our needs.

In terms of the room itself, it was fantastic. Impeccably clean, premium bath products, and a smart TV which you could link to your own streaming accounts (just remember to log out before you leave).

Best Coast restaurant is also fantastic with breakfast included. They were also accommodating of special requests and modifications to items. It functioned as a microbrew in the evening and was always enjoyable, with tasty beers on tap. If looking for other dining/drinks options, there are others which are also great within a short walking distance.

All in all, one of the best, if not the best hotel in NL.

Me and my fiance stayed there for one night, we had the "romance package". The perks of this package included complimentary wine and breakfast, along with "priority" hot tub services and a $50 gift card for the best coast Cafe. This was misleading because the manager said they had called my fiance and arranged a hot tub booking but they didn't contact us. This meant (even though the website states reservation *upon arrival*) that we had to use the hot tub only after 1AM. We appreciated the front desks help and efforts, but still disappointing. The restaurant only had a 4 course option, $100 per person due to it being NYE, but we were given a menu in the room stating differently. This meant we had to go elsewhere last minute, knowing we could not eat 4 courses each and it would be a waste for us. On top of that, the website stated complimentary breakfast delivered to the room- and the room had a menu with a nice variety. Unfortunately, despite the hours posted in the rooms and on the website, it was closed and we got a bagged breakfast brought to us that only included oatmeal in a baggy, a juice box, a yogurt and a piece of cheese. Definitely not our idea of "complimentary" or a perk of paying extra for the "romance package". Not what we hoped for. The rooms were beautiful with nice staff, but our experience was the opposite of special.

Good Morning Sam. Appreciate you taking the time to leave another review. Sorry to hear the package was not up to your expectations. I personally called every guest we had booked with us for December 31st to explain our NYE hours and menu and ensure anyone who wanted to eat in the restaurant, could and that anyone with a package could make their hot tub reservation. There were several reservations I was unable to reach, including yours. Like many establishments we had a set menu for NYE which your gift card could have been applied to. Hot tub bookings are made at check in, with the romance package you are able to make your booking at any time prior to your reservation date. Unfortunately, if they do get booked up as people check in on the date of the reservation we will absolutely honour those bookings. I'm glad that Keelan was able to get you in afterwards. Hope you have a wonderful new year, all the best!

We stayed 2 nights to celebrate my partners 50th. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful from forgotten toothpaste to acquiring some lemon for our in room cocktails. The included breakfast was excellent and certainly added value to the already decent price. Our room was very clean and the tasteful minimal decor included everything we needed, the bathrobes came in handy after a nice evening soak in the rooftop hottub after a great day of skiing on the nearby Blow Me Down Trail. The staff at the attached Best Coast restaurant were equally as friendly, attentive and knowledgeable with excellent suggestions from the in-house Boomstick Brewery. Our stay here helped to make a milestone event even more special and memorable! Highly recommended and will definitely return!
