The property is fairly new and half of it is the Fairfield and half of it is the Residence Inn. Staff are super friendly and efficient, wifi is solid. The restaurant has some decent choices for dinner. Breakfast is the usual buffet style and in my case included. Lots of choice and everything was fresh. I will stay here again. The only downside is you are nowhere. There is no other restaurant in walking distance. The front desk staff will gladly call a taxi, just don't expect to be able to do much without a car.

I reserved this hotel because it seems like a good place from the reviews.

Pros: The hotel is clean and modern looking. There is parking even for electric cars. The free breakfast has a free options, like cereal, oatmeal, eagles, muffins, bagels, eggs, etc. There's a pool.

Cons: the shower is too short for the shower (odd, I know). The towels are thin, small, and rough. The hotel isn't in the greatest part of town. It's not near any tourist spots. It's next to a train track. The pool area is tiny, but the little kids love it. It's definitely not for adults.

I was travelling across canada lately, and stayed in many Fairfield & Towneplace the past few weeks. They were all mediocre, especially the service. I understand that its a mid tier range hotel brands, but i didnt enjoy much during all my previous stays.

But this particular Fairfield in Winnipeg broke that disappointing streak. I was so welcomed by the front desk agent especially Mr Graham. He thanked me for my loyalty to the bigger marriott group, recognized my titanium status and gave me the 2 bottles of free water. Dont assume this is a simple gesture, because so far, all the other towneplace and fairfield did not give me the free water which my elite status suppose to get for free without asking. I had to go down to lobby to ask for my free water, and sometimes they gave me a hard time. But not in this Winniepeg location. Everything was done on point, i got a room upgrade and water. All these r simple amenities which I am and was suppose to get, but this is my first time getting them.

So thank you to the staff and making a difference just by doing something so simple. Many hotels just dont care much, or care less.

I wrote a similar review in googlemap also, just fyi to the mangement who's reading this.

We booked our stay at this hotel as they offered and I quote, "Airport shuttle service, upon request, complimentary, 24 hrs,7 days a week".
This was not the case during our stay. They had one employee working so they said they would not honour this service and said I would have to pay my own cab fare to the airport. This is totally against what they say on their website.
The on duty mgr. argued that I requested it and they couldn't provide.
Nowhere does it state, "upon availability"!
We will not be returning to this facility again.

Dear sparky7401: Thank you for choosing Fairfield Winnipeg and for taking the time to post this review. I am sorry to hear about the issues you had with our shuttle service and apologize for the inconvenience. Although you will not be returning, I did want to advise that we really appreciate you letting us know what transpired. Not only I have reached out to Marriott to get this information updated on our website ( as the shuttle is indeed based on availability) the employee(s)you dealt with will be performance managed. Warmest regards, Cathy General Manager Fairfield by Marriott cathy.stephens@marriott.com

I stayed here for one night on August 8 while in transit to Saskatchewan. The hotel seems new, the room was big and comfortable.

My biggest concern was their blatant disregard for Marriott's COVID-19 guidelines. Although a sign was posted on the front door, there was no attempt to make any of the other quests wear a mask or socially distance. Even worse, the staff weren't wearing a mask, whether they were working at the front desk or mopping the floor, no masks were worn. I was extremely disappointed, and if you're COVID concerned, don't stay here. My thought process is if they ignore Marriott's mask policies, then who knows what other Marriott policies they ignore.

Also not the hotels fault but the neighborhood isn't great, there was a murder at a bar (Polo Park) only a 5 minute walk away.

Needless to say, I did not stay here on the way back.

So we show late with a late arrival with prepayment of the room and was asked for a deposit of 400 dollars for one night the room only cost 76 dollars that seems a little f’ed up but I just gave them the card to put the hold on. After a long walk to our room we get to it and it a sauna we turned down the heat without any cooling down. One bed in the room all springs are shot in the bed. Well we are just here to sleep and get going. So we wake and jump into the shower and it was dirty, we then noticed the towels that we used had black marks on them after we used them. The room it’s self seems very dated which for a newer hotel I was not expecting. We was only in the room for less then 12 hours and this is what we experienced. We most likely won’t be returning to this place.

This hotel is terrible, the front desk person was rude to my guest who is 75 just came into town, and did not show her where she could sit and relax just barked at her saying her room won't be ready till 4 pm rudely . She waited 4 hours. The room smelled like dirty dog. had been their, their were hairs everywhere. The dishes were still in the dishwasher. The fridge had finger prints all over it. Their was no cleaning service after day 3. No kettle to boil water. The bathroom was dirty hairs everywhere . This room was not cleaned properly. Never again, I do not recommend at all.

We arrived at the hotel to check-in to discover that the pool was under renovations, because my reservation was made 10 weeks in advance, at the time of booking I had not been made aware of this. I was informed that I was sent an email on October 28th, which I did not receive, to inform me the pool was closed. My check-in email which I did receive the day before my arrival had no information in it or in the links provided in that email that the pool would be closed. We had specifically booked this hotel for the pool facility for my 2y.o., 4 y.o. and 7 y.o. children. I was given the opportunity to cancel my stay at no cost, so I stood in the lobby looking for other suitable options, unfortunately there were none. It is the Santa parade and hockey season, we knew that which I why I booked in advance. My family is allowed to walk across the street in the -20°C windchill to use the inadequate facilities at the hotel across the street at no cost while we stay. I then asked if I could be given a discount on our stay, as I was not made aware of the issue and really was left with no other options. I was denied this request.
I can not express how upset and disappointed I am with what has happened. Essentially I was told that I had been informed in a single email that I never received and therefore this was on me. This is not how customers should be treated.

Decent enough hotel, except there is no sound proofing from footsteps in the hallway or against the room doors that slam very loudly when closing. I had the misfortune of booking three nights at this hotel, and averaged maybe fours of sleep each night due to be woken up multiple times by running in the hallways and doors slamming shut up to 1 am every night. Never again. This, combined with my recent customer service from Marriott, has turned ths lifetime Gold elite off the Marriott brand completely.

The room we stayed in was nice. I tried asking where an ice machine was but the housekeeping staff didn’t really understand English. I asked another lady and she said she didn’t know. I called the front desk and she tried to tell me it was on every odd floor. She was very hard to understand. The grab and go breakfast due to COVID was terrible. 2 apples, a juice box and a granola bar. Why not a decent muffin or pastry item. Just sad. I choose a hotel with breakfast included for a reason and then get just that. Not happy!
