Nestled in a prime spot for ski enthusiasts, Fairmont Chateau Whistler garners acclaim for its pristine cleanliness and inviting atmosphere. Guests have called out the luxurious amenities like the Gold Lounge and an array of dining choices, along with a pool and spa that elevate the stay. While the hotel delivers a luxury experience that some find pricey, the majority of guests appreciate the attentive service and spacious rooms. However, occasional service delays and room preparedness have been noted. Its central location with easy ski-lift access is a highlight for travelers.

The experience at the Fairmont Château Whistler was truly magical. From the moment the reservation was made to the pre-arrival communication to the friendly check-in to the impeccable room and housekeeping service to the delicious food & beverage to the variety of quality amenities and activities. The level of service provided at all touch points was superb. The location of this property is extraordinary. The entire resort experience was incredible. We look forward to returning in the future. Camila (Concierge), Rikki & Jack (Activity Tour Guides), and Emma (Wildflower Server) were phenomenal and made our experience even more unforgettable.

This was our second trip to Whistler but it was the first time we have stayed at the Fairmont Chateau. Will we come back? ..........its already booked.

We stayed over Christmas with two children aged 11 and 13 the big draw was the skiing but what made the holiday was the hotel. It managed somehow to please us all, something that is not always easy as our Children enter the teenage years.

My daughter was concerned she would somehow "miss out on Christmas" that was never an issue. The Fairmont Chateau is Christmas central, treats left in your room each day , every inch of the common areas decorated, Christmas Trees, open fires to sit beside, baubles, tinsel, Christmas music, chefs processions, huge free welcome buffets, it had it all. We even ordered a real Christmas tree for our room a 5 ft tree duly arrived with lights and decorations that our son and daughter really enjoyed decorating as they listened to their Christmas music playlist.

It is a large hotel so you get a lot of facilities such as proper gym complete with Peloton Bikes (not a sad excuse with poor equipment in a dark and dingy basement) Here you can train on quality equipment whilst looking out over the outside pool area to the mountains beyond. The pool area with saunas and hot tubs is a great place to relax after a few hours on the slopes, extra special as the hot steaming water soothes tired muscles as the snow falls around you. There are a variety of restaurants and bars all with a slightly different feel and price point. So you have a choice of places to eat and drink without leaving the hotel. The one constant is they all feel warm and inviting . When you do decide to venture further afield, no problem, one of the hotel cars will take and collect you to and from one of the numerous quality restaurants in the wider Whistler area.

So all the facilities are great but that would not mean anything without the dedication and care of the staff, they give the feeling of warmth and soul that makes the hotel such a special place to stay. I have stayed in hotels where the buildings are impressive, the facilities are fantastic and the staff are very professional. The Fairmont Chateau experience exceeds those hotels. From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, there is a warmth. Every member of staff really seems to be pleased to see you and want to do all they can to ensure that you have a memorable holiday......... and we did.

It was our first time staying at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler as we have been high loyalty members of Marriott Hotels for years and we wanted to try something new for a quick getaway this past weekend. The initial welcome to the hotel with Valet coming to us as we approached for help and then upon entering for the health screening was all very good. Then I checked in and was informed of everything going on in the hotel, which was great. We brought our dog with us and they are very pet friendly. They provided a bowl, bed and treats for him. After that, the rest of the visit was just mediocre.

The room itself was a double queen and to be fair, a bit outdated. Beds were squeaky and on the second day I noticed stains on the bed spread that was definitely old. Overall the beds were quite comfortable though. The TV is not a smart TV which we are used to seeing now at the other hotel brands we are used to staying at. There is also no fridge, just a mini bar which has been emptied for COVID regulations. This was frustrating as we had items such as our raw pet food we needed to have in a fridge. You could rent one for extra fee per night, but I don't see why you should do that when fridges are very common in lower brand hotel chains. We didn't rent one.

We ordered room service the first night as we got there late and found out Portobello was closed at 8pm. It doesn't make sense why they close this restaurant so early but it is by far the best one on site. Anyways, the room service which cost $62 for fish and chips and buffalo cauliflower after tip, delivery fees was about 2/10. Very disappointed in the quality of food and I didn't notice when looking at the bill that on top of the delivery fee an automatic 15% gratuity was also added. Because I didn't see that, I tipped again on top of this, which is why it ended up being very expensive.

I would like there to be some place other than Portobello to buy some snacks. There really isn't anywhere around Blackcomb and you need to go into Whistler.

On the plus side, you can leave your dog in the room unattended, but the $50 per night fee is a bit excessive in comparison to other hotels in the area. Usually it is a fee per stay.

We didn't check out the pool area or other amenities at the hotel that would be included in the resort fee, so cannot comment on that.

I did ask for items to the room such as water and cutlery for when we ordered in from a restaurant in Whistler and it was quickly delivered to the room.

Their COVID protocols are quite good but I recently stayed at a Hilton in Victoria for work and I have to say their communication and how they clean the rooms were much better and felt cleaner than the Fairmont. I was disappointed for the level of service and quality this hotel brand is widely known for. We are planning a trip back in December for ski season and right now it's a toss between staying here again, going back to our Marriott where our loyalty is better or try Four Seasons for a new experience.

Overall the trip was pleasant however, I believe they can pick up the level of service they are known for again.

The hotel is beautiful and large and in line with what you would expect a luxury hotel to be. They also have good measures in place to ensure the safety of guests during the Pandemic.

However, I am still giving my overall experience a 2 star purely how an awkward situation was handled and definitely didn’t make me feel like a guest. I am staying at the hotel for one night on my wife’s birthday trip (room 626) and booked a mountain view junior suite through the AMEX fine hotels program. Generally speaking, I am entitled to an upgrade if available which would have been to a One bedroom suite. However, since that room type was not available at the time of checkin (3pm) and to make it special for us they offered us the Two bedroom suite if we could wait about an hour or so while it was getting cleaned. We were more than delighted by the upgrade and were happy to check out the village as the room was getting ready. Upon coming back around 5pm and reaching the room we were actually given a one bedroom suite instead of the two bedroom suite. I called the front desk to politely inquire what happened. The person who picked up said that we wouldn’t be eligible for the two bedroom upgrade. When I explained the situation to her she promptly forwarded our call to the front desk manager. The gist of what the Manager said is that we were upgraded to the one bedroom suite which is still better than the junior suite we originally booked in a “polite condescending manner”. I mentioned to her that while I am thankful about the upgrade, we waited two hours and we weren’t given the room that we were originally told we would get. I did mention to her that I felt upset by this.

I wouldn’t have an issue with this if the staff were upfront and communicated better. Don’t tell guests about a better room only to “switch it up” without notice and the tell them they should be thankful for what was given. I don’t want to sound entitled but this is not a motel and certainly not how you treat guests at a Luxury hotel! This encounter was very awkward and certainly dampened my experience at this property!

Honestly could not be more disappointed with my stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. I was excited to take advantage of their loyalty program and BOGO night but after my stay, I believe there are much better hotels at better prices (even without the BOGO discount) with significantly better loyalty programs. First and foremost, I have no idea why they would fully book the entire hotel during this pandemic. Given that their amenities have been drastically limited, they still chose to book out every room in the hotel. We asked for a king bed a week in advance and they said they were unable to accommodate us given that they were fully booked. We checked in right at 4pm on Sunday and went straight to the concierge afterwards to book pool time (only allowed to do after check in) and it was already fully booked for that day and the next day until 9:30pm. The following day (the day of our departure) there weren’t any times available until after our check out time, which couldn’t be moved to a later time because of covid precautions. We opted for the only option during our 2 day stay for 9:30pm only to find that when we went, the hot tubs and pools were already packed. The hot tubs had limits for 5-7 people, and every hot tub had exceeded their capacity, with no staff enforcing the social distancing rules. Furthermore, although they required guests to show their card that verified their temperature check to access the restaurants and shuttle, we rarely got asked for the card. On the shuttle there were people who not only did not show their pass but also did not wear masks. The shuttle was always at minimum a 25-30 minute wait although they advertised 15-20 minutes, we had to take a taxi once after waiting over 30 minutes for the shuttle that never showed and calling the front desk twice. Our room was clean but our a/c stopped working one afternoon and it was boiling hot for a couple hours before it was fixed. Housekeeping services are no longer a daily thing because of covid precautions as well. I commend Fairmont for adapting during this uncertain time but I feel like they prioritized their profit over the comfort of their guests by booking to full capacity while reducing their amenities and services drastically. If I was aware of these changes, I would have chosen another hotel without a doubt. There are far too many options out there to settle for the subpar experience I had at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

We loved everything about this property. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Alan, the concierge, made all of our transportation, rental and snowboard school lesson reservations in advance setting a great tone before our arrival. He was very responsive and timely with emails. Nicole, a server in the Mallard Lounge served our family during a busy time and made our children feel extra special bringing them cherries in their drinks. A few short hours after leaving the hotel, I realized I left my credit card in our room with our hotel key. I called the hotel and they immediately sent someone to the room who found my card and arranged to send it to me when I return home. Another reason to love the Fairmont and their staff!

We loved the range of dining options at the hotel. Portobello was great for grabbing quick and delicious breakfast before hitting the slopes or lunch. The pool service was casual and delicious too.

The location of the hotel in the upper village is quiet and the shuttle service to the village is easy or you can talk a short scenic walk.

Our children are already asking when we can return and we will definitely be back!

We stayed for two nights (Aug11/12) at this hotel arriving from another city. We asked a vala door man who was friendly where to park our car, which is underground and lots of parking near a elevator as we are seniors. Were stopped in front of the check in desk and a pleasant man checked our temperature for covid-19 and obtained our paper work and cards in good time. You need a covid temperature card in this hotel which is good to see. We recognized Katia Barton at the front counter, who is always so pleasant and who has a nice natural smile. Katia completed our paper work and got us the room with a view of the village in very short order. She is just so calm, helpful and efficient. I had further reservation for Christmas/N.Y.s and had questions and was directed to talk to Assistant front office manager Alexandra Hastings. Alexandra was very nicely dressed, very professional and business orientated. She helped us greatly for a parking/room, concern and was just so nice and helpful for us seniors. The covid procedures/rules are followed strictly and nice to know and see everyone in common room areas where wearing masks. Alexandra you have very efficient, staff in the lobby. The concierge men were polite, helpful, and friendly. Thank you now for your assistance see you in the winter months. All pools open and bars and restaurant but social distancing tables, and line up with out reservations will appear. So advice book all reservations in advance. The out deck in front of Mallard restaurant is very clean, open to gardens, paths, kids play area and furniture new. The service by Francis Cote, Mallard, Nickalas de sousas, Marla server, Laura check out were all very pleasant and made us relaxed. The servers were not pushy about drinks, we felt we could take our time to enjoy. The Peak to Peak chairs is 5 min walk, down town 20 min walk and Fairmont has their own bus but know where it is as we had to walk a little out of the downtown core to find the stop. We travel a lot in the world, many hotels, cities, Mexico, tropical islands and this Chateau is very scenic and comfortable. Rooms large, beds comfortable, and ladies who do house keeping(2 e.i.) were very friendly each time we past them. Every one now has to work extra hard cleaning which we saw and appreciated. Hotel is located also near a small grocery store mall area, extra vip vehicles in front. Ski hill and lifts in walking distance for everyone. There is lots to entertain yourself, music in the lounge(but a little loud when sitting close), eating), Whistler village area. We are fussy travelers and were not disappointed. (Longbeach).

We stayed in a very busy week-16th to 23rd February - and had an excellent stay. The location is superb, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are very good as are the pools and spa. We had a deluxe slopeside room which was a good size for 3 and had a great view. The queue for breakfast at Wildflower was a bit of an issue on a few days and the service if ordering a la carte could be slow. However, the breakfast was very good value relative to the quality. We had massages at Vida spa and, although the massage room didn't look overly impressive, the massage itself was excellent. The concierge team here are very efficient. We organised babysitting in advance through the concierge and had a few problems which they dealt with very professionally. We stayed at the Four Seasons last year and much preferred the Fairmont because of the location, the atmosphere and live music at the Mallard Lounge and the view from the room. In addition, it was an easy 10 minute walk to Whistler village. The hotel also offers a much appreciated car service which we used to go to Rimrock and Red Door (both restaurants were superb, book early). We will return next year.

No where to go during covid, so spent 4 days here. Staff were friendly and service was very good.

Parking: there is self parking available and free tesla charging which made it very convenient.

Rooms: Stayed at their gold level floor. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Large soaker tub with separate shower. The aromatherapy shower was a great addition.

Gold level: Worth the upgrade. Good food, drinks and snacks all day. One thing I would suggest is to have people hand in the honor bar drink sheets to the concierge desk there instead of leaving them on the tables. I had people charge drinks to my room as people just fill in the forms and leave them by the bar area without anyone checking. So people could write any room number down. However, the wrong billings were taken care off easily by the concierge desk.

Pool: The pool deck area is not large. If you come late, there are no chairs available. There was a steam room and sauna available which was great. One downside were kids jumping and splashing in the adults pool.

Overall great stay. This is my new favorite hotel in Whistler.

The Chateau Whistler is always a great experience, since being updated the rooms now meet the high standard set by the property’s common areas and staff. The only disappointment is the Fairmont continuing to charge resort fees especially when many amenities were closed or restricted. I tend to avoid Fairmont’s in general due to these fees.

Not one in the traditional sense where you could drop the kids off for a few. During the holidays there were two really great game areas set up and open from 2pm to 7pm for 6 and under and to 10pm for older. Kids needed to be attended. Not sure whether anything similar exists outside of holiday season. We did make use of Babysiiting Whistler who provided two well qualified sitters for an adult evening out, they were quite reasonable and the kids enjoyed them.

Not sure, but they have both a shuttle and 3 Chevy Tahoe SUV’s that are run through the bell desk as personal shuttles. I suspect these personal shuttles would run through the night as late as you want, as the bell desk is a 24hr operation. Enjoy your trip!!

You should have no problem. They will store your luggage and then take it to your room when it is ready. I have done this in the past.
