Very clean. This is a small Inn, well located downtown Sydney. Self serve breakfast with cereals, toast , yogurt etc. Friendly host. Exceeded our expectation. Will certainly book again if we head that way again.

I cannot say enough good things about Linda! She went above and beyond to make our stay great. We got lost getting there. She gave excellent directions and even waited on the street to wave us down. She is a very friendly and sweet woman.

We took a nine-week family vacation (two adults, two kids and a dog) to Sydney, Nova Scotia during the summer of 2006. Traveling with young children in a "normal" hotel room is something we avoid at all cost now. We always look for a suite hotel with a separate bedroom.

We found the Premiere Executive Suites in Sydney. It is a suite style hotel with more of an apartment feel to each room rather than a hotel. And the best part is it was cheaper than those "normal" hotels.

First, you don't get all the hotel stuff - restaurant, pool, weight room, etc.

You do get - a very nicely finished apartment, a direct-dial phone number, a full kitchen fully equipped, and TV, DVD, stereo, etc. And a free breakfast.

They seem to be targeting business travelers but for families looking for something better than a "normal" hotel room, this was amazing for us. We stayed in the one-bedroom for 9 weeks (too long for such a small space), but the two-bedrooms are great.

Price was very reasonable - cheaper than both other hotels and local, reasonable cottage-type alternatives. Staff is great - service great and a real family type feeling. We maybe returning to Sydney next summer - we'll certainly stay here (in the two-bedroom!)

This is a very old building and it is not in very good repair. No elevator and several flights of stairs. The staff offered to carry our bags up. The room was small but comfortable except there were issues with hot water in the shower. The plumbing and electrical probably need to be redone. I didn’t feel entirely safe. Great location, downtown and across the street from the harbour.

I never got the opportunity. I tried. I tried pretty hard, too. I called their toll-free number and reach a voice mail box which stated their hours of 8 AM - 5 PM. What? A hotel closing at 5 PM? OK. It was about 4:50 so I left the voice mail as requested with my name, callback number and the info about the rooms we were looking for. Figuring that maybe they were on the phone and busy, I tried again, this time calling the regular, non-tollfree number at about 2 minutes to 5. Same voice mail. OK, they're still busy, they will call me in a few minutes when they are free. While waiting, I also send an email to the address connected to the booking link at their website, at about 5:08. I'm sure I'll hear back at some point during the next few minutes.

Two hours later, we arrived in Sydney and, since we had the address, decided to go to the hotel to injuries about the rooms. But wait, there is nobody there. The doors are locked. There is a number on the door to call for assistance, so I did. But did I get assistance? Nope. The voice mail message said that it was an emergency cell phone for registered guests only (which raises the question about why the number would be posted on the door for the general public to see with a note to call it for help, but I digress ....) I took a shot and left a message that we were at the door and looking for accommodation and left my name and number and went next door to the pub for a drink to start looking for alternate accommodations. At this point, I didn't really expect a call and wasn't proved wrong.

So, here it is, 32 hours after my initial phone message to the toll-free line and I have yet to receive any sort of acknowledgement that I exist. 2 voice messages and 1 email and 0 responses of any sort. I would understand if they were full and didn't have room. What I don't understand is the complete and absolute silence in response to my contacts. They have my phone number. They have my email address. They also now have this rave review on TripAdvisor. What they don't have is any of my future business or any word of mouth referral. It must be nice to be in a place to not need any new clientele.

How this place was earlier ranked #1 is beyond me. It's more like a bed & breakfast - an old downtown house that was converted. Parking is miserable, basically an alley way around back or else park on the street. And they never mentioned all the stairs on their internet site. Up from the alley, down to the lobby, up to a landing, then way up to the 2nd floor where most of the rooms are.

The room was reasonably quiet with the a/c going all night; otherwise you'll hear street traffic. Breakfast was bare basics continental. Coffee is whatever hotel guest fixes it first. The Holiday Inn and waterfront are across the street.

When I mentioned our concerns with the stairs and their not being mentioned on the internet, the morning manager merely nodded. "Well, it's an old building." And that was it.

I really enjoyed my 3-day stay at the Spanish Bay. The room was large, airy, clean, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!!! Great location close to the water with a nice view of where the cruise ships come in. Super friendly staff and an adorable communal dining area where you can grab coffee and breakfast in the morning. I would definitely recommend the Spanish Bay to anyone looking for a unique and wonderful place to stay in Sydney.

Booked this property for two night stay on advice of staff from Keltic Lodge in Cape Breton. I was looking for a good location but not in a chain hotel as a base to visit the Fortress at Louisbourg and be good to leave the second day to visit Cape Breton highlands after three long days on the road travelling from Toronto. Linda the manager was extremely friendly and helpful when I made the original booking several months in advance and during our stay. The room was clean but much smaller than I had expected. The rooms vary in size considerably and you should ensure you get one that will suit your needs and budget. I wouldn't stay again in the room we had but would pay for larger one.
The hotel is small and rooms are on the second floor with only stair access. Parking is free behind the hotel. Staff are not onsite all the time but available by phone. There is a large lounge and dining area which I used as there was really no place to sit in our room to read or relax. There was only a light on one side of the bed if you like to read.
The complementary laundry facilities were appreciated. The make it yourself continental breakfast was adequate. Housekeeping will not service your room unless you put out the sign on the doorknob. We didn't know this and returned to our room after being out for the day to find it had not been serviced.

We enjoyed being able to walk on the waterfront boardwalk and to walk to local restaurants, so the location goal was met.

My husband and I stayed here in early June and this will be our first choice of lodging on our next trip. The Inn is well located across from the boardwalk with parking provided. Our room had a nice view of the harbour with a very comfortable bed and the shower had lots of hot water. The self service breakfast offered a plentiful selection of things including locally baked scones and cinnamon buns and a communal pot of very decent coffee. The entire inn is filled with lovely antiques and the staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to all.

Very nice ,quiet hotel near the Sydney waterfront, and much warmer than the typical chain hotel. The rooms were clean and very welcoming. We had a great view of the ocean and the location was perfect for walking distance to most restaurants and shops. When visiting Sydney again I will definitly be staying there.

Sorry I cannot help with this. As I remember it there were only rooms upstair with no lift. Nearby Cambridge suits which has a lift and a Holiday inn with a lift to.
