I had to give the Quality Inn an average rating if you are looking for a more expensive "fancy" hotel experience that offers a beach outside your front door & scuba, etc. lessons. But we would rate it Above Average if what you are looking for is a reasonably priced, clean, centrally located hotel that didn't offer all inclusive or a beach right on the property. The pool & small grounds are attractive & well kept. The small bar/restaurant are well kept & the staff extremely helpful & friendly & the food is good. The room was clean & everything worked well, although small - but then, how much time do you spend in your room. The hotel's location was extremely good for what we wanted (we had a rental car) - close to downtown, not too far from Cable Beach or access to Paradise Island. Western Esplanade beach, directly across the street, does have some stones, but nothing serious & it served our purposes; we felt quite safe there. If you aren't comfortable with day/evening traffic noise, the hotel isn't the place for you. All-in-all, we found the hotel to be a very good alternative to the overpriced all inclusive resort hotels.

I just got back from Nassau on Saturday (3/25), and I stayed at the Quality Inn my last 2 nights. My first night I stayed at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island.
Here’s what I did and it worked PERFECTLY -
The Quality Inn is located right in downtown Nassau, within walking distance to the market and bars/restaurants in town. It's a helluva deal for the $99 a night I paid. But what I figured out was that if you stay at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island you get FULL access to the Atlantis (which is an unbelievable once in a lifetime experience), and you get this access with a very special shiny wrist band that they give you, which is good for the WEEK. SO, I coughed up the dough ($260) for the ONE night at Comfort Suites, and then stayed the last 2 nights of my trip a little ways away at the Quality Inn, and used Atlantis for the remainder of my trip.
The only sucky part of the whole deal was that we had to take the ferry in the morning and a cab at night from downtown to Paradise Island and back, but even that was only $15 a day.
The Comfort Suites is really nice, with huge clean rooms and a free breakfast. The Quality Inn's rooms are MUCH smaller but very clean and the staff was very helpful - no problems whatsoever.
With a little scheming and a pair of $60 round trip tickets on Spirit Air, my girlfriend and I had an AWESOME time at Atlantis for practically peanuts.

We stayed at the Quality Inn in November for 3 nights after staying 2 nights at Comfort Suites Paradise Island with privilieges at Atlantis.

If you want to stay downtown this is an excellent choice, but after the cruise boats leave there isn't much open and going on. Cable Beach is a more touristy area to stay with restaurants, etc at all hours.

The hotel was newer, but it seemed to be falling apart, not the cleanest I've seen, but not the worst. The standards are different in areas where it is humid and tropical. For the price it was worth it. We paid 62 a night with a AAA discount, but then there were charges for the maid and energy so it adds to the total.

Next time I would stay at Cable Beach and expect to pay more.

HORRIBLE!! Pictures on website are fake!! Do not stay here. Extremely misleading on what the website shows. Rooms are dirty and hotel has seen better days. We left and went to another hotel.

A friend and I found this hotel after having a horrible experience at Hostelling International. it was just $10 more per night than the hostel and significantly better. They had just opened (May 2002), and they treated us like queens! (maybe because we were some of their first guests?) Just a 5-minute walk from downtown Nassau, it is right across the street from Junkanoo Beach (it's kinda rocky, but we felt safe) and it has a pool and vibrantly decorated rooms and a security guard at night. The buses run right in front of the hotel and go downtown one way and Cable Beach and the "Fish Fry" the other. Try Chez Willie just a block away- french/bahamian restaurant- expensive but worth it...

I recommend the Quality Inn at Nassau!

I just came back from three nights at the Quality Inn. I booked early and secured an advance rate of $62/night. The low price had me a little worried, but my expectations were exceeded tenfold during my stay. I would pay a whole lot more to stay here again.

First off, if you're going to Nassau, location of your hotel is very important. Taxi service is everywhere, but excessively expensive. If you stay at the Windham or Nassau Beach, you're going to pay almost $20 to get into town depending on how many people you have. The Quality Inn is about a five minute walk from downtown Bay Street, so right there we saved a ton of money by walking. This gave us easy access to shopping, food, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and our rental car agency. There are also several bars within walking distance by walking into town.

And the beach! It's directly across the street and can be seen from every room, even those on the Nassau Street side! You're virtually on the sand, and I think the hotel itself is modest about their fantastic location. The only hotel, in my opinion, with a better location is the Hilton; there is obviously no price comparison.

The rooms are better than I expected. You're not staying in the Ritz, but the beds are nice and everything truly was spotless. I'm worried about cleanliness over everything else, and my expectations were definitely exceeded here.

As far as people complaining about the hotel being filled with locals and loud people- You will be staying in a reasonable hotel, and during spring break time, there are going to be a lot of students. However, calling it a "frat house" is an excessive exaggeration. There were no locals loitering as others have implied. The restaurant is fun to hang out in before going out on the town.

My only complaint: when I get the bill at the end of the stay, they tack on a $6.50/day maid charge. I'm a vocal person and normally would take care of that, but it was under $20 total and I was so pleased with the overall value of the hotel I decided to just let it rest. But just be aware.

Overall, I would recommend this to everyone, from fellow poor college students, to even more discriminating travelers who do not want to spend a lot of money on a hotel room, but care about things being clean and close. A+ value for the money.

It wasn't the Paradise, but we didn't pay the price. Room was clean and nice. Across the street is a nice beach which offers chairs, towels, umbrellas for a price. We didn't spend much time in the bar or restaurant, we ate out much of the time (the Italian restaurant about a block away sucked). Walking distance to the shops and other eating places. McDonalds and other fast food places are close by if you want it fast. Nice eateries are in walking distance. Senior Froggs, Hard Rock Cafe, and Conch Fritters Bar and Grill was good. Columbus Tavern was great (cab ride to Paradise Island). Take cab to the Paradise or other fine restaurants on Paradise Island. Cruise ships pass right in front of the Hotel. There is a few rooms with great views.

I do not know how this place could be #12 of 50.

I was assigned room 506. I emerged from the elevator to a dimly lit corridor. There was trash in the hall. I entered the room to find furniture that seemed like it would crumble to the floor upon one touch. The lobby furniture was broken as well. Should have seen this as a sign.

After a long day of travelling, I needed a shower. Well, the shower was not working.I tried to call the front desk to let them know. There was no dial tone. I got really scared at that point.

In the morning, I told Latoya at the front desk about the problems with the room. She was very rude and unprofessional. The maintenance man was fixing the pool when I told her about the problems with the room. She said when he finishes, I will tell him. On the last night, I was moved to another room. This room had an infestation problem, roaches and some unknown bug.

The manager, Shamika Munnings was also rude and unconcerned. Sonya at the front desk offered great service.

This is NOT a gay friendly hotel. Upon our arrival, we knew that we were not truly welcomed to the hotel. During check in, they noticed that we only requested one bed but had two adult males checking in. They said that they could not offer that request and booked us two single beds. The room was average, nothing special or (Resort) like at all. One night it rained pretty hard, and our bathroom began flooding from the ceiling. I notified the front desk and was advised to place the trash can underneath the water. I would never stay here again.

We decided to stay here because of the proximity to the fish fry and the shopping area. We only needed a room for one night, so it seemed like a good idea. The reception area was decent, we went to our room and found everything to be dirty and run down. The smell in the room was something that cant be described. I refused to take my shoes off and walk barefoot in the room. The bed creaked and sqeaked everytime you moved, it was hot in the room although the very noisey air conditioner ran the entire night. I would have chosen to skip a shower in the morning if I could have gotten away with it, but I took one anyway. At first there was no water, it rains harder then the water that was coming out. I had my husband look at it, and it seemed as though he fixed it. Little did I know that he didnt really fix it, it just temporarily worked. About the time I get nice and soapy I lose water COMPLETELY!! I turned off the water and waited a few minutes and tried again just to get enough water to rinse before it went out again!!! Oh, brother. As I am drying my hair the light fixture falls off the wall above the mirror. There are hairs that aren't ours everywhere in the bathroom, I was so disgusted, I could not get out of there fast enough. It must be the local hot spot or place to crash for the night-there were doors slamming all night long, at 6:30 in the a.m. a group of Bahamaian girls went down our hall singing a very loud song. And the night we checked in-we went out to dinner and returned around 8:00 p.m. to find the parking lot filled the people from town, partying and drinking. Our flight didn't leave until the evening, so we asked if there was luggage storage and the receptionist hands my husband a key and points to a closet. We open the closet and discover that it is a storage closet for their Christmas decorations and other long forgotten items and it was disgustingly dirty as well. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I would not recommond staying here, even if it is for only one night!!!!!!!!!

Hi! Does anyone know the Jitney bus # to take from the airport to Junkanoo?! Thanks!
Answer from SONIA B
Nassau, New Providence Island
I'm sorry but you will have to catch a taxi from the airport. Bus does not run from the airport. Taxi from the airport to the hotel is $27.00 for one or two persons. Additional 3 for extra person. Have a safe trip. See you when you reach..
