This year 2005 will be our 4th year at Westwind I, Westwind is by far the most relaxing and comfortable resort that we have ever been too. It may be the oldest timeshare on the island, but it is the most friendly. The staff is incredible and they go out of their way to be accomodating. We would not stay any place else, it is our home away from home.

Just 20 compact and spotless duplex units on pristine and parklike grounds. Heated pool, warm and friendly staff, great happy hour prices and the best burgers on the island.

Are we going back? You bet!

My family and I just got back from a week long trip from Feb.19th-26th,2005. We stayed at the Westwind 1, which is smaller and quieter than the Westwind 2. Our villa was very nice, with a bedroom on the main floor and another bedroom upstairs in a loft that overlooked the downstairs. The villa was clean and comfy, but I felt like we should was the pots and pans before we used them, as there is no dishwasher. The pool was small, but very clean and was heated, not just by the sun, but you could feel hot water coming in the jets of the pool. The resort is very small and quiet as is the beach. The beach is very close to the clubhouse. Its very private and the people there are very friendly. If you are looking for excitement, stay somewhere else or just take the bus down the street for activity. If you are looking for a great place to soak up the sun and just relax then this is a great place. The only probl;em we had was that my 78 yr old mother was with us, and the villa does have stairs to the bathroom and bedroom on the second floor, so that was hard for her, but for people who are young and active it would pose no problem. As for Nassau itself, we found it friendly, and interesting. The driving down there is crazy though, and I would not reccomend renting a car, unless u like to drive under pressure. We took the bus most places we wanted to go for 1.00 each, and took a taxi in the evening a few times which cost approx 20.00. The food is very expensive, so plan on extra money for food or bring some with you. All in all we had a great trip, I would stay at the Westwind 1 or 2, as they are both wonderful resorts!!!

The Westwind Club (better known as Westwind 1) is a great option for those wanting a realatively peaceful resort - but close to the Cable beach strip. It is 1/4 mile further west than Westwind II, near Sandals. The distance is not a problem as the Jitneys run all the time up to 6.30 pm. They are so frequent, the whole journey takes only a few minutes. There is a shuttle from the Casino after 6.30 - but that is hourly.
The resort is exceptionally well maintained. The gardens are immaculate and the units spacious and well equipped.
The food is basic (lunch-time only) bu there are plenty of restaurants around - including some great new ones at the upmarket Sandyport development - further west -well worth a visit. A pity that the bar shuts at 6.00pm so you cannot sip a sundowner unless you bring your own.
The beach is small but perfect. Smooth white sand which funnels outwards so it's bigger than it looks - and the aquamarine sea remains breathtaking all week.
I would definitely choose Westwind 1 if I were at Cable Beach again

We visited the Westwind 1 on an RCI exchange.
On the positive side;-
Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome of the receptionist. All of the staff at this resort did all they could to make us feel welcome, and were constantly chatting to all of the guests. It was evident that most of the guests return here year after year. For making new friends, this is the place.
A big plus was that bottled water was delivered right to our room, in 5litre containers, at a very low price.
The resort is quite small, but well laid out. The pool was always clean, and the room service acceptable. (cleaning only)
A very basic lunch is served, mostly burgers & chips, salad, chicken.
It is a pity that the kitchen (and bar) closes at 6pm...
This is an old resort, on of the oldest in Nassau, and it's age is beginning to show. the kitchen is tiny, and needs enlarging... and a new stove and utensils.
The rooms are clean, but dark.. needs brightening up.
But in the end, it is the very friendly attitude of the staff that will have us coming back to Westwind 1

We loved our stay in Nassau, and Westwind is one of the main reasons why! Yes, it's one of the oldest resorts on the island, but that only told us that it has been successful in treating its guests well. We appreciated that it is convenient to little shops, restaurants, and groceries, and far enough away--short jitney ride--from the crowds of tourists and the busy-ness of downtown Nassau.

The resort's private area of Cable Beach is a great size and is perfect access to the beautiful waters. Along with the beach, there is also an elevated patio to lie out on that includes a hammock and palm-covered table and chairs. The pool is a perfect temperature and is clean and refreshing.

We alternated days on the beach with a few visits to the historic areas, downtown, and the local eateries. But we kept in mind that we were there primarily to relax in the Caribbean, spending most of our time on the beach. Don't expect to be entertained.

The rooms were adequate for our family and linens were clean and well-stocked. But if you only expect five-star quality, this may not be for you. Keep the age of the resort in mind; it's over 30 years, though it has been well kept up for the most part. (The refrigerator leaked, and the bed was a bit uncomfortable by the last night, but those were tolerable.) The individual cabins are orderly and clean, and we had confidence in the provided security measures--special locks, night security guard....

What was most surprising was the personable staff and friendly time-share owners who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, to show us around, and to answer all of our questions. They spent time with us, and we got to know each other and enjoy some laughs. (You won't want to miss the 4:00-6:00 crowd at the clubhouse!) Some of the staff and owners have been there since Westwind opened, so they truly know the territory.

We have traveled many places around the US and its borders, but we've never been anywhere that we felt we were saying goodbye to family when we left until Westwind.

Please do not get them confused..Just came back from spending 7 nights at the "Westwind Club I". This place is in need of renovations but clean. I agree with the other comments about regular members not being friendly. We got up cooked breakfast, got on the bus, headed for downtown and came back to sleep. We did not hang out there. Some people didn't even speak to you only the employees which were always very friendly like all the locals. We had a 2 bedroom. Let me explain, it's not a 2 bedroom, it's one bedroom downstairs and an open loft upstairs with 2 twin beds (no privacy) very steep stair up. Towel change Tuesdays and Thursdays, no Linen change. No vent over the stove, so when you cook, the smoke alarms keeps going off. Hard Bed.Saw RATS running across the patio and was ready to go but could not find other accomodations,so we stuck it out. Owners very nice but if you are use to a 4 or 5 Star...This place is not for you and RCI awarded this resort for 2011.. and a $85 untility charge

This is one of those places you don't want to miss. Incedible staff! Steve, Donny and Lauren are everything you could hope for. The property is small (only 21 units). Each is part of a duplex with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bath, and a loft bedroom. With the sleeper sofa, the unit will accomodate six people. The kitchen is complete with full-size range, frig and microwave. This ist not one of those do everything activity-oriented resorts. Rather its a quiet, cozy and comfortable resort. Located right on Cable Beach with easy access to anything you might want to do. Excellent pool and clubhouse (don't miss the daily happy hour).

I first stayed @ Westwind on an RCI exchange 13 years ago. I liked the spot so much I bought on my second day there. It is the oldest timeshare on the island. The staff, Steve, Lauren, Donny and Tony take exception care of all who stay here and they work hard along with the board to keep Westwind a top notch place to stay. Although I only own one week I have been going 3 times a year for the past several years as it is like a second home..without the work of your home. If like to make new friends and hear others experiences and like peace and quiet..Westwind is for you. I am headed back in October.

For starters-I travel all over the world and I’d like to think I’m very low maintenance. All I need is a room,a bed,a door & I’m pretty much happy. With that being said-I was absolutely disappointed with the Westwind Club.I stayed there for a week with close friends and was let down from the get go.Lauren the office manager was not very warm and we felt like we were infringing on her time. It was hilarious how they nickel & dime everything! From the WiFi (everyone in your group has to pay for it)to the towels to the kayaks and the limitations on when we could do this and that.
On the bright side-it was very quiet and Donnie who worked the bar/grill & the staff were great.
Honestly we will not stay here again. Good luck fellow travelers-you have been warned.
