This is a gorgeous condo with wonderful views and terrific amenities. The pool is just steps out the door and there’s both an outdoor seating area and a gazebo. The location is great but do know the beach and water area are rocky so you’ll likely want to travel further down (walkable) for better swimming options. On the other hand, fun to see all the cruise ships and barges.

This is a wonderful option — highly recommend.

Poinsetta is a relatively small condo complex. We stayed in unit B4, one of the more popular units for rent. Most units in the complex are owned or rented to residents of the island. The condo is "sort of" on 7 mile beach, but not at the section where there's an expansive beachfront and easy wading into the water. It is a mix of sand and iron-shore, and the sand strip is quite small. It is possible to swim from the shore. There's a small boat wreck that provides a location for snorkeling.

Grills and BBQ are available which is nice. We didn't use the pool so I can't comment on that. It looked clean. As with most places on the island, the feral roosters will create a ruckus early in the morning so I didn't sleep as well as I'd like. That's a common problem on the island though and not specific to Poinsetta. Maybe the big hotels are insulated better?? I don't know.

My complaint is about the cleanliness and housekeeping. There were no bugs, no cockroaches, so no worries there. The linens were clean. The issue was the tiled floor was only modestly swept, and definitely NOT mopped prior to our visit. We landed up cleaning this ourselves!! We like to take off our shoes in the house, and our feet were blackened by walking around the condo. That's not acceptable for the price paid. Housekeeping comes daily, except Sunday, but other than making our bed, it isn't clear what else gets done. The kitchen counters were not cleaned, the floors weren't swept thoroughly or vacuumed. I think the bathrooms were cleaned, but can't say for sure. The housekeeper did put away clothes in the drawer which was a surprise, but we'd rather that was skipped and instead sweep and mop.

Poinsetta is close to groceries, liquor stores, restaurants. It is on the main bus route and walking distance to downtown. We had a car and it was very convenient to get around the various points on the island.

The A/C works well and is relatively quiet. The view from the main room looks out, with some tree cover, to the water. Bedrooms look over the parking lot (no view -- blinds were kept closed throughout our trip).

I am a Caymanian who lives overseas. I stayed at these condos in late September (first trip home in 10 years) and totally loved it here. It wasn't an overly fancy million dollar property but it was definitely excellent accommodations and everything was modern and comfortable. I stayed with my significant other and my two sons and the unit was perfect. It was clean, convenient to everything and surprisingly quiet (apart from the local chickens ha ha). The only minor hindrance was parking. We didn't have a rental car but had friends and family coming by to pick us up etc. There was only one parking space per unit and being able to turn around was really tight. We ended up having only one visitor at a time because of this, but overall not a big deal as most visitors to Cayman don't have lots of folks to come by and visit them at a condo :-) There is a local restaurant immediately next to the complex and a short $5 cab ride (less than 5 minutes away) is a fully modern supermarket (Kirk Market). We didn't ride the bus, but again, at the entrance to the complex one can catch the bus either way to George Town (main city) or to further up 7 mile beach (beaches, movies, restaurants etc.) and West Bay (turtle farm). The condo is conveniently located right where George Town and West Bay Road borders each other so it's perfect. The folks at Cayman Villas were awesome! Speaking as a local who'd been gone from home for so long.... thank you for making me feel right back at home. I will definitely be returning.

We arrived at the condo at 10:30 on a Saturday night and, when the light was switched on, there were many cockroaches on the kitchen floor, on the kitchen countertops and in the adjoining bathroom. A call to the manager resulted in having the condo sprayed on Monday morning (a horrible weekend in the meantime). We saw dead or semidead cockroaches right through until Friday. What a horrible experience. It prettt much spoiled our vacation.
Caymanvillas, the lessor, was very little help. They were very blase about the whole affiar and didn't even apologize for our problems. There is no reason for cockroaches in any rental property if proper spraying is done. Never, Never rent at Poinsetta. In fact, I would never use Cayman Villas again.

In a trip advisor search to record about our wonderful stay, I was very surprised to find the review below from 2008. We go to grand Cayman yearly and our favorite place to stay is Poinsettia, as it is conveniently located to everything, always clean and it almost feels like your private oasis as many of the tenants live there full time and are away at work during the day. And in all these years of going we have never seen a cockroach! Maintenance people are seen regularly around the grounds keeping it pristine and the pool is always immaculate. You can walk to many good restaurants including the Wharf and XQs.

This condo property is very well maintained..Gorgeously decorated and outfitted with everything you could need. If I had known 20 people on island I could have had a dinner party and only bought the food and drink

Handy to Bus going either to Georgetown or to 7 mile beach. We were in 3a with the pool as our front yard and the beautiful ocean out the back

Very happy with this property.

Great place to stay on 7 mile. Very close to all the shopping and great restaurants. I recommend it highly. The beach is not that big so we normally go to Hemingway’s for beach service and drinks. It’s only 1/2 mike down the street.

What a great condo and terrific location. Perfect for a family of four on spring break from the mid-Atlantic winter! Close to super market, beer & wine store, and countless restaurants & cafes. Complex has a nice mix of vacationers and full-time residents. Secure and safe complex throughout our 9 day stay. Immediate access to snorkeling and easy access to 7-mile beach. Not over crowded or too busy. Property is well maintained and clean. Condo owners have done a great job of updating and modernizing the unit. We have ZERO complaints about the rental unit or property! We would rent again if available. Cheers!

The other reviews on here are a bit dated going back to 2008. Something must have changed since our stay was excellent and we didn't have any of the issues other reviewers mentioned. The units are managed by different groups and owned by different people so perhaps thats the difference? We stayed in Unit B4 and it was very tastefully done, clean and had all the amenities of a home away from home.

Poinsettia is located on 7 mile beach right next to the well known restaurant "The Wharf." Right off the beach in front of the condo is a wreck you can snorkel to and there's easy access to the water from multiple locations. We've seen amazing things right off the shore in front of the condo as good as anything you'd see at Governors Reef of Cemetery Reef.

The pool was great and felt like a bath tub after being in the ocean (ocean was 82 when we went). There's an outdoor shower and plenty of chairs and privacy. We were often the only people by the pool.

Each unit has a parking space assigned. If you have more than one car for some reason that can get tricky.

We ate out a lot as the island has a lot to offer in world class dining (and prices!) but we also balanced that with breakfasts and lunches at the condo and the full kitchen had everything we needed for that.

For diving we used Neptune's Divers (http://www.neptunesdivers.com). They'll pick you up right at the condo and bring you back. They're a great bunch, safety conscious but fun!
In full disclosure we were a guest of the owner.
