This may be the best location on 7 mile beach. We were within walking distance of at least 20 restaurants and another 10 jerk stands. There are 3 grocery stores withing walking distance as well as shopping near by. This is important to a family on a budget.

It isn't on the beach, instead it is across the street with direct access. We found this to be a benefit. The beach area they have is amazing. We were 200 feet from shore in waist deep water with pure sand bottom. they also have a restaurant on the beach called mama flos. We didn't eat there so I can't make any reviews other than the prices were reasonable and the food looked good. There seemed to be steady traffic. We spent most of our evening meals at a place called fanso's. It's about 100 steps south of the bar b barn. (simple food at excellent prices) and only 8 minute walk from hidden paradise.

The rooms are clean with tile floors and a safety deposit box ( you need to leave a deposit of $50.00). The rooms are not flashy but adequate for most travelers.

Breakfast is spectacular. It can take a while if the hotel is full but the wait is worth it. The view from the breakfast area is very nice. You overlook the morasse reserve which backs onto the hotel.

This is a family run operation and they treat you like family. There are fewer and fewer places like this in negril. The location dot on tripadvisor is incorrect. The hotel is approximately 300 meters north of the times square shopping center. If you look on google maps and use the measuring tool you will find it. It is long and narrow property with a pool and covered deck at the back.

The only downside is that the neighboring porperties seem to have a dog problem. At times the noise of these dogs can be a pain in the but.

If you are looking for all inclusive treatment this is not the place. But if you want good bang for your buck and a casual atmosphere, consider hidden paradise.

Hello to all considering this hotel. Hopefully we can provide
some insight to what you might experience thru our description
of our stay which was late Dec 2006 thru the end of 1st week
of Jan 2007. There are many pluses to this property but it would
not be without mentioning some misses also.

All in all we had a good stay at this hotel. It should be mentioned
that we have stayed at several different places over the last 8 yrs
in Negril so I do believe we are qualified to make accurate comparisons. I will list below some of the positives and some of
the negatives to give an accurate description of our stay .

Our room was very clean although smaller than we expected.
The air conditioning worked just fine along with the mini frig and
restroom and shower. The hot water went out a couple of times
in the 2 weeks we stayed there but the water pressure was very
good for Negril hotels. The in-room safe was inoperable and to
be honest after 3 attempts to the front end office staff and a couple of other employees we gave up trying to get them to fix it
or provide a working key. Although alittle uneasy we did lock our
valuables in one of our suitcases with no problems what so ever
during our stay. Minor ant activity in the bathroom but it is the tropics afterall and this is not uncommon there and was of no
issue at all. The beds (2 in our room) one was great but the other took alittle getting use to / to put it mildly. I could see some
folks demanding a room change over it. The porch was incredible and we really enjoyed sitting outside and having a few
drinks and visiting with folks passing by. Very roomy front porch.
Also the landscaping in front of our porch and room provided much privacy. Traffic passing by late at night and early in the morning as well as barking dogs was a considerable issue to
deal with in regards to the noise. It would interrupt your sleep on
some nights.

Out of all the hotels I have stayed at in Negril this hotel had the
best landscaping hands down. It was beautiful , nearly a garden
of Eden. The gardener "Brian" does an incredible job and is a
great guy. Very fun to visit with and he really looks out for your well being.

The pool was very nice when we used it but it must be noted that
during our 2 week stay it was out of comission for nearly 1 entire
week. We did not ask why as we spent most of our time in the
ocean. The hot tub is just normal air temp and of no use. If the
heating element was repaired it could be very nice.

We ate nearly every morning across the street on the beach side
at Mama Flos for breakfast as it was much better pricing and
good food also. Mama Flo (Joy) is an absolute incredible woman.
She has to be one of the most lovely people our family has ever
had the pleasure of meeting. She treated our son as if he was her own grandson. Not only did she show him much love but you
could not help but notice how sincere she was in her concern
for how he was doing and making sure he was ok . I can not
say enough for what our family thinks of her. Overall very good
restaraunt , very reasonable prices , good quality of food , and the staff that work at Mama Flo's are great . Big up to Keisha ,
Nadine, Shawn, Miss Audrey, Miss Gloria , and Torrance. These
folks are truely wonderful and will look out for you. I cant not say
enough good about Mama Flo's place and our family truely misses each of them already. And last but not least Mama Flo
(Joy) gives some of the best hugs that you can imagine. She is
special.

House keeping at the hotel was very good Miss Sonjia is a great
woman and very sweet and just a wonderful person also. She will take very good care of you.

The only negative I can say is the location across the street at
times can be an issue. Especially with children. NO way would
we trust our 10 yr old son to cross the street on his own due to
the way traffic operates on Norman Manley Blvd. This was our
1st time not actually on the beach side and I can say we will never do it again.

Security was adequate.

This hotel has the potential to be incredible. The price is great.
The staff is some of the greatest we have ever had the pleasure
of meeting in Negril. However the biggest issue for us was the
crossing the street a few times daily.

Respectfully,
The Barnetts

My daughter and I stayed at Hidden Paradise starting March 28th for one week. It was a last minute check in as our other plans had fallen through. We arrived late at night and was offered a lovely room for two.
This resort has a pool , offers a decent breakfast. and has beach access across the road. It is very close walking distance to everything on Negril beach.
Having said that, the staff were very welcoming , friendly and kept the place extremely clean. There was a night watchman, who kept an eye out for us.
The garden area is lovely and kept up , beautiful flowers everywhere.
It is a basic room, nothing fancy , but suited us fine. We were out and about most of the time anyways.
There was a safe in the room and a refrigerator.
I would have no hesitation in going here again for a relaxing, safe and fun vacation.

My husband, infant son and I just returned from an 8 day stay (2/8/05-2/15/05) at Hidden Paradise Hotel. The hotel had lovely, well tended grounds, although it did not look as shown on the internet. The rooms were large, clean and simply furnished with good, strong hot water whenever we needed it. Water pressure was a little low but since I have been to Negril 6 times and know that hot water is usually a problem at most hotels but to my surprise it was plentiful. The A/C, ceiling fan and cable tv worked as they should and a mini fridge was provided with the room. Other than food the only additional charge was for the safe deposit box which was $3 U.S. per day plus a $50 U.S. deposit. The staff were for the most part friendly, they spoiled our son shamelessly, the manager was visible and accesible, eager to offer conversation or handle your every request quickly and efficiently. The standout of the hotel for me was the breakfasts...I wish we had chosen the breakfast plan since we winded up eating breakfast there everday as each days' breakfast was as outstanding as the first. We were greeted with a pot of Blue Mountain coffee, orange juice and fresh fruit before we had our main course (several choices were offered as well as the cook would fix anything you even hinted at) while we chatted with other hotel guests and enjoyed the view of the Great Morass. If I had one complaint it would be that the beachside was not as well tended as the garden side, it should have been cleaned daily (which it was not) and the staff at Mama Flo's restaurant were not attentive at all. The food was reasonably priced and tasty but service at the bar and restaurant left a little to be desired. Overall, I would chose to stay here again as the pluses far outweighed the minuses.

We were booked into Hidden Paradise for 7 nites mid-April. After a ride (with just one 5 minute stop at Riu) that took 1:50 instead of the "Scenic 50 minutes", we checked-in. The website said meals would be across the street at Mama Flo's but when we checked-in the clerk said meals would be at the hotel. There were not very many people there and we didn't relish the thought of dining with little or no food turnover.

When we followed our baggage to the room on the 2nd floor, we found the beds very low, the air conditioner unreachably high on the wall and barely pumping out cool air, just a dribble of water from the bathroom tap and loads of little bugs particularly in the doorway.

We decided to check-out and go to MoBay and Doctor's Cave Beach Hotel. They charged us $145.00 late cancellation fee even though the hotel amenities were not as advertized on the web. The cab driver charged $50.00 plus tip. He rode prudently while others whizzed by us so I gave him $60.00....3-$20 bills. I looked around at my baggage which he removed from his cab and when I did he held just 2-$20.00 bills in his hand telling me that was all I gave him. Like a bloody fool I gave him another $10.00. He didn't give me any more argument. I wouldn't either if I rooked somebody $70.00 for a $50.00 trip. What a rogue. His hang-out was outside Hidden Paradise Hotel.
Beware!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, I want to say that I did like the location in proximity to the beach (in regards to the entire beach area), I appreciate the effort made to upkeep the landscaping and the pool area is pretty, especially the view of the hills and vegetation.

With that said, the word resort needs to be taken out of the moniker. This is by no means a resort, a boutique hotel or even a budget hotel. I would comfortably label this as a $50 per night roadside motel. If you have traveled across the US on either Routes 90, 75 or 95, you know exactly what I mean.

I have posted pictures of the positives, the negatives and the "is what it is" to fully capture what this establishment has to offer. I would say that at one time, maybe 15-20 years ago, this place may have been an average location.

The owners of this place need to seriously reflect on immediate, short term and long term renovations/updates to make this a competitive business. I seriously feel that the online booking sites that advertise this place need to pay attention to reviews and possibly visit before renewing a contract. Pictures do not lie and I fail to believe that my room is an anomaly. The internet worked slowly at best, and sporadically.

Upon seeing the room at check in, we immediately requested another room. We were near the front--room 102, second one in and were worried about the proximity to the very busy street--say nothing of what we found upon arrival. We were told that there was no other room available. Each night, we noticed that at least half the rooms were unoccupied. A manager never during our 6 night prepaid stay once stopped by to make amends or offer another room.

The beds had huge holes in the mattresses, the linens including the curtains were from another era, the towels had stains and holes, the TV was outdated and 10inches wide, the bathroom jealously panels had mold on them, the furniture was Brady Bunch at best, the space that occupied the last AC could see through to the outside, the room fridge (worked), looked like a dinosaur, the shower curtain had a huge tear in it, the bath mat was full of holes and last but not least, the shower--with no shower head, was a mere trickle--if you doubt my assessment, please see the attached pictures.

It appeared to be more of a backpacking clientele, which does not bother my wife and I, but some serious partying was taking place down the path. Check my other hotel reviews and you will see that I stay in a variety of places. LuvJaBad63 mentioned in her review that "nothing changes with this local owned property", and she couldn't be more correct.

This is our third time to Negril, we have stayed at three different locations and we will definitely be staying at a fourth on our next visit. With the condition of our room, it is safe to say that the owner should be ashamed of himself. The lobby is under construction, at a cinder block per day pace and is completely void of decoration save a picture of Bob Marley--how original.

The restaurant on the beach does nothing to advertise itself as a business with no signage, no specials, no décor and kids running about all day. The four beach chairs are rotting in the sun, two sans any cushions or mats leaving bare wooden planks to sit on. Next to Drifters on the beach which is a plus and next to Merrils II, a nice buffet for a great place. The cleaners, whom I asked not to clean my room, were polite.

Gravely disappointed, remove the resort and by all means, shape up. My guess is that at this pace, in a couple of years this could be an all out low budget hostel or pay by the hour establishment.

Learn from my mistake, spend another 20 per night and go elsewhere on the beach. Doubt me, look at my pictures.

Our family had a wonderful short 8 day stay at Hidden Paradise.

Check in was extremely quick, friendly, and hassle free.

Rooms were basic but nice and very clean, Hot water and shower pressure was excellent. AC worked very well and cooled room down very quickly. Free wi/fi worked incredible.

Hotel Grounds are spectacular, this hotel has some of the prettiest, most lush grounds in Negril. Brian is an expert grounds keeper. Pool is also very nice and refreshing.

Beach Bar (acroos the street) had very good food and so/so cold beers. Enjoyed our time spent there.

Special note on the beach bar, we were lucky enough to be invited to Miss Joy's birthday party at Mama Flo's bar and we were truly honored to attend. It was one of the most lovely birthday parties we have attended and the highlight of our trip. Words can't express how much fun we had at the party and how welcome everyone made us feel.

Staff at Hidden paradise were incredible, every single one of them. The front desk girls were so helpful and sweet and friendly. House keeping was awesome, Miss Sonjia is a lovely, sweet lady. Grounds staff Brian is a super guy and security Clive was also a nice guy. The staff at this property are wonderful and treat the guest very well. Also we enjoyed meeting and visiting with the owner, Enrick.

We very much reccomend Hidden Paradise and will stay there again.

This place is perfect for those who know what the real Jamaica is all about. The management will give you any thing you need. We needed a toaster and coffee cups and they arrived within minutes. Our kitchen taps were not working but fixed the next day. Once we got everything settled it is worth 4 stars. The beach is right across the road and the pool is very refreshing and well kept. The restaurant by the pool is good and the property is beautiful. The staff is fabulous!!!!

I unexpectedly travelled solo when my friend cancelled a couple of months before departure. Felt I needed to go as budget concious as possible and chose HP because although not beachside, they have a designated beach area across the road where you can bring your own drinks/food. Got a great price for 7 nights.

Pros:
-Grounds are very nice, mango trees, flowers, palms, etc.
-Pool was nice and clean
-deluxe room was large and reasonably clean (some dust bunnies under the bed)
room had two beds, one of which had a new memory foam mattress that was comfortable
-large size bar fridge (inner freezer door was missing which froze other items in the fridge and caused huge ice buildup to the point of having to break some off so the door would close)
-wifi signal comes from the office, my room was in the closest 2 level building and I received a good signal on my balcony and most of the time right in my room.

Cons:

-AC filter was filthy - I got very sick with cold/flu a day or two after arriving which may have been from bacteria/spores in the AC filter. I wish I would have checked the filter 1st thing upon arrival and asked that it be changed or cleaned. Unfortunately, I was sick for the duration of my holiday and still not well 2 weeks later. Did get antibiotic when I returned home as I had an eye infection as well and was afraid it would turn into bronchitis or pnemonia. Of course, it may not have been from the AC, but regardless, the filter was bad and management does need to maintain them.
-There is no cart for luggage on check in or out. Thankfully, when I was dismayed to hear this, some staff that were in the office (women) helped me lug my luggage to my upper room. There did not appear to be staff designated to do this automatically.
-lock on room door is pushing button in on door handle only. Would have liked to see a deadbolt as security appeared to be minimal (people I'd met on the beach, albeit maybe known by hotel staff came wandering in on the property looking for me). Was not the best security I've experienced in Negril.
-office staff were minimal friendly, did not feel fully welcomed or that my business was appreciated. They did respond appropriately when I directly requested something. My housekeeper, Bella was good and seemed to wear many hats.
-beach area - the guys hanging on the beach area were friendly but almost too intrusive to the point where I sought out other places to enjoy the beach. Beach chairs are old and wooden and you had to ask to get a pad to put on it. No beach or pool towels provided.
-fridge was in the large closet area. A little thought put into better configuration would make it handier. Liked the shelves in the closet area which I used for "kitchen" items, but I had to work around my clothes hanging in the closet.

To summarize: if you are on a budget and don't mind staying across the road, I would recommend HP, just be prepared and check your AC filter upon arrival. Especially if you are out and about everyday. As I got ill, I was not up for going out and about as much as I would have liked. I doubt that I would return as I much prefer staying right on the beach, which I could have done for $20 more/night and for me, in hindsight, would have been worth it.

Hello, I suggest you take extra towels with you, because sometimes it got a long time to get your towels back from laundry. Bedding is in the room. There was a small fridge in our room and inside a little freezer, but no ice machine.Only a handsoap in bathroom. I don´t know about laundry services or barberue..:)
