The SeaGarden Beach Resort is well-regarded for its convenient location near the airport and the vibrant nightlife, offering good value to many guests. However, opinions on service and amenities vary, with accolades for the beach and entertainment but concerns over inconsistent housekeeping and room quality. While some guests commend the modern atmosphere and friendly staff, others are disappointed by outdated rooms and the noise level. Cleanliness generally meets expectations, though towel replenishment can be an issue.

A friend of mine and I traveled to Jamaica and stayed here for 7 days. For the most part the staff was very friendly. We had no trouble on the check in except we had to wait a while not only to check in but my friend asked to get her room switched but it was al don't by check in time so it was bad for me. I love the half open half inside layout. There's always a fresh breeze and air come thru the entire resort. The staff was respectful and as friendly as they could be. I understand there is a culture difference and even if you think they mean harm, they don't. It's just a different way of life but nothing is intended to be rude or stand offish.
As far as the rooms, I think they are somewhat outdated and could use a bit of sprucing up and a modern flare to it, but I also understand that the aesthetics are meant to give a natural and tropical feel. The bright yellow hues, the crisp white and wood furniture, and the open floor and airy layout. It was nice to me
The food options were abundant but also very good. It was buffet style so you serve yourself and they try and keep it sanitary as you can when it comes to buffet style. I'm not a huge fan of the amount of flies everywhere but again that comes from being on a tropical island and everything being open to expose you the nature. But I would prefer not to swatting flies away every five seconds.
The drinks were unlimited so even if they weren't that strong you can get as many as you like with as much or as little alcohol you prefer.
The worst part for me is not them not having any first aid kits or supplies on hand. I scraped my knee pretty badly and there wasn't a band aid or any kind of medical supplies available. We even went to the mega Mart and still nothing.
And the gift shop was literally useless. Run by a guy with terrible customer service and overly over priced goods. A bag of 50 cent chips where 2 dollars. 5 dollar bottles of water....it wasn't cool at all.
And the pool is too small for such a big place that hold so many.
That's why we stayed on the beach. They offer jet skiing, parasailing, glass bottom boats rides and snorkeling as activities to do so the beach is highly recommended.
So I would suggest bring medical supplies or really try not to get hurt out here because you will suffer.
Also buy as much water as you can because with all the liquor you drink and the heat you become severely dehydrated.
And that's the TRUTH.
Otherwise I had the best time I could ever have in 7 days

We stayed at the sea garden for one week. I was skeptical at first because the reviews were all over the board. The hotel itself is very nice but also very basic. The only complaint I actually have was that the elevator and the ice machine say they’re out of order but I don’t think they actually ever work. We totally got our steps in doing those stairs but it was still totally worth it. The rooms are clean and they do clean and restock them daily even with Covid. The staff was all extremely nice, friendly and always said hello in passing. The beach is across the street which is private and very nice there’s fun activities there all day long plus a restaurant bar which is all included if you’re all inclusive. The resort is extremely safe I never once had to worry about anything. The drinks are great and always flowing. There was entertainment every night by the pool with live music and activities. It’s a great place to come with kids and it’s only a five minute walk from the hip strap if you’re coming to party and go to the clubs. The food is what one should expect at a standard buffet it has lots of traditional options plus American options of course they keep it more safe and bland but you can easily add pepper hot sauce to spruce anything up. They do rotate the menu slightly each day. They also have their restaurant bar and deli snack shack outside which are open anytime the Buffay is not so there’s always the ability to get food and drinks. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay that’s budget friendly and close to town and literally 15 minutes from the airport I would highly recommend it! If you’re looking for some five star resort that you never plan on leaving you probably should spend more money and go elsewhere. But for someone like us who only goes to our room to sleep this was all we needed.

I stayed there with my Husband and two kids we were also with my Brother in-law and his family of 4. We had a very comfortable stay. I typically stay in the Rose Hall area upscale resorts when I travel to MoBay. This time we all decided to try a local upscale hotel and this was perfect. A true hidden Gem!! The staff was excellent, and courteous. The accomodations were clean and adherent to Covid protocols. I was very impressed by and made an instant connection with Ms Latoya the housekeeper for my room 1315. She went above and beyond to make my family feel comfortable and appreciated. She kept our room exceptionally clean and welcoming at the end of a long day. She made us feel like family. Also, I have to give thanks to Ms.
Beverly she works overnight in laundry service she made sure we had enough fresh towels. I like to shower twice sometimes three times daily and needed a fresh towel each time I used up all the towels alotted for my family everyday for just me. She made sure to accomodate me with a warm smile. The staff was the crown jewel of the hotel. I typically stay at Iberostar or the Grand Palladium but the Staff at Sea Garden topped them all. Also for covid re-entry test go to MD Link on across from Margaritaville they only charged 25.00 per person for the covid test. Big ups!

This resort is definitely not what I expected from viewing the pics on multiple websites and this was my main complaint. Room 605 was very outdated and totally not what I was expecting after viewing the pics. I requested a room change and was told if I wanted a room change I had to upgrade and pay an additional $40 per night. I didn't want an upgrade, simply a room that looked exactly like the one I booked based off of the pics I was shown online. Needless to say, we stayed in our room and made the most of the poor quality audio on the television, the small shower, the worn furniture, a missing safe, etc. But, I will give kudos for the linen being clean, the bed being comfy and for us having a mini fridge. The carpets that lined the hallways are dingy and could use a very DEEP cleaning.

The resort itself is due for an upgrade, from the outside appearance to their food and drink options. My friend and I laughed at the fact that even the grilled cheese was just not enjoyable...

I will say the dining staff was very friendly and did what they could to cater to our wants. I even requested pancakes fresh from the griddle (because they kept bringing out cold ones) and they accommodated me without any hesitation. The chef at the omelet station served up some good omelets to us daily and that was very much appreciated. You also have an option to order items that you will you not see at the buffet, which we learned of this by viewing other guests doing it because we were not told.

One thing we read about in the pamphlet in our room was there are other restaurants to dine in on the property, but you have to make reservations early and it's best to make those reservations before you travel there because reservations were filled before 12p 2 days beforehand.

I was told there is an updated side to the hotel and you may be better off requesting that (you will not see them advertise that on any website) and maybe you will have a different experience. I didn't see any of those rooms so I cannot speak on it.

The place has great scenery which caught me and my husband's eyes in the first place. My wedding day experience was particularly bad for a number of reasons. I had paid for decorations which were included in my wedding package and never received not one piece of material that included my colour scheme was implemented in my ceremony. In addition, I paid $550us dollars as on add on for a DJ for my wedding and the DJ sat in the corner the whole time and played 3 songs out of a list of 75 songs we provided weeks before the wedding. My wedding started on time at 5 pm and by 830pm my coordinator, and servers we're all rushing my husband and me and our guest to leave. My coordinator Tamika made sure to collect all the fees for this wedding but yet did not feel like it was her responsibility to deliver what was offered in the package at least. We communicated for months about all the details but never got anything of those details implemented in the wedding. Our guests did not like the food and only received one glass of wine with there meal when we were supposed to receive more. I want to thank the photography team for being so attentive that was the one positive experience we had and appreciated their hospitality. I would never want any other couple to spend their hard-earned money on this wedding experience. I am extremely disappointed and I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone for a wedding.

Shannon S wrote a review Mar 2022
I found our stay in this resort frustrating because it has all the bones and features to be an amazing 5* resort but is let down by many small efforts that could so easily be changed.
One example is when you check in, they tell you nothing of the amenities and features of the resort, there is no welcome book or information in the room so you could easily spend days here without hearing about the resorts 2 extra restaurants, spa facilities and water activities available. Some guests we got talking to were shocked to hear about these facilities on their last night unfortunately. Could be simply resolved by an in room welcome pack with information on.
We dined at the resort restaurant called the Chatham which you pay $38 for pre ordered 5 courses which all sounded very impressive (lobster, filet Mingon, scallops etc) however we were extremely let down at the effort and quality out into this, some dishes were inedible and I asked for a refund which I was very grateful to get however the staff seemed in utter shock that we did not enjoy this meal. Again, simple things like actually providing the dishes requested (they gave me triangle chunks of cheddar on my caprese salad and tried to tell me it was mozzarella)
And serving fresh seafood instead of frozen.

They also don’t have any drinks list at the bar so when I first when and asked what they have I just got stared at. I asked for a cosmo, Prosecco and cider and they had none of them but then no list with other alternatives. I found myself pointing at strangers cocktails and asking what they were. Such a simple thing that would make guests far more aware of the availability of beverages and surely speed up the service times too.

The other big issue with staying here is the noise at night time. If you want to sleep at all DO NOT request an Ocean view room. The locals park thier cars on the main road outside and BLAST thier music on the loudest speakers I’ve ever heard from about 9pm. When I called the reception about this, again they seemed shocked that it was disturbing us. I find it very unlikely no one else has ever complained about this and thier security team do go out tell the locals to turn it down or move further down the road but they will not do this pro actively, you have to call down every night and ask. Again, simple things that just really affected our quality of stay that could be so easily monitored.

Now the positives…
The rooms were very clean everyday,
the beach resort across the road is gorgeous and the accessibility to the water sports and snorkelling gear is great. The bell guys that work on the front door are very helpful.

DO NOT STAY at this resort! This resort needs a total tear down and not to re-open. The building is old, dirty and falling apart. The lobby carpet is old, dirty and full of stains. We did not get the room we reserved and when we brought it to the receptionists attention she blew it off and stated they were booked. We did not have comforters or pillows on our bed upon checking into our room either. We booked 5 nights and only had 1 set of towel each in the bathroom. When calling down to request housekeeping, it took 3 days (Saturday, we checked in on Wednesday) for someone to finally bring towels after calling numerous time. The bathroom showerhead was disgusting. The food is not much better smh. There is no bacon at breakfast and very limited drink options. The alcohol is bottom shelf only, no options for any brand you may recognize. Some of the staff is friendly, others not so much. The location is close to the airport, so you will hear arrivals but also a quick taxi drive to night life off the resort. The beach is small and you must cross the street to access it. I did not utilize the pool as it was rather small. Arnese or Arneice (not sure the spelling) at the front desk was the worst and not helpful at all. I asked for a email and or phone # for complaints and stated she did not have any. Had to waits days to speak to a manager only for them to offer no compensation what so ever. You could not pay me to stay here again.

I have stayed at LOTS of hotels in Jamaica and Sea Garden has BY FAR the friendliest, most welcoming staff I have ever met. After the second day they knew us by name, which my kids absolutely loved. I can’t rave about the staff enough, especially Delroy, Shaquille, Georgette, Linton, Edeno, Jerome, Kingsley and the whole entertainment staff(sorry we didn't remember you names!) The hotel itself is very nice, the grounds are beautifully kept and it has a very quaint homey feel. The room was very spacious and the addition of a mini fridge was great. There is always somewhere to eat, whether it is the dining room, beach grill or pool side deli and always a bar open to get a drink. The beach is clean and full of shells and so is the water. There is plenty of entertainment during the day, and the staff did a fantastic job including my kids and making kid versions of all the games. The evening entertainment was all great but Tuesday's Native Show was by far the best!
The food was delicious, the only downfall was the availability of kid friendly dishes and overall variety. It was wonderful to have authentic Jamaican dishes so frequent, as most other hotels only offer "Jamaican Night" once a week, but having a few other options would also be nice.
Thank you Sea Garden Staff for making my kids’ vacation so memorable

My wife and I, went in January for 8 nights, my wife’s birthday and we had any amazing time, It’s a beautiful hotel the architecture is gorgeous, the room was clean and maintained daily we were in a sea garden view room there are different types on the property as they are renovating, but at no time did that interfere with our stay. The food was great buffet style and different food every meal, they’ll serve due to COVID plenty of GOOD drinks. The first day there was bad weather the beach had to be closed, the staff made sure we still had some entertainment that evening in a different location of the hotel, there’s entertainment nightly and the DJ (caromela) makes sure there’s something for everyone and she hosts the disco party at late night. Over all the staff are outstanding (too many to mention). We highly recommend the SeaGarden Beach resort. In fact we plan to return in May for our anniversary.

This is a pretty property, with well maintained gardens and clean basic rooms but the staff really needs to get their act together .
The room supposedly had a kettle and tea and coffee and I had to request for a working kettle three times . The tea making kit had everything but the tea bags . Had to call the housekeeping thrice and then finally after I went to the front desk , they sent tea bags ! And over the three days I was there , they gave me three kettles that wouldn’t work ! I gave up after the third time . I never could make a cup of tea in my room .
The place is also very noisy. No chance to enjoy any peace and quiet. Live music is on by the pool side till 10 pm and even sitting peacefully on the beach side during the day is not an option , loud music starts at 10 am . Meal times including early morning breakfasts at 8 am is accompanied with loud music.
The staff at the egg station is clearly overwhelmed and could not deal with the morning rush .
Really disappointed, wanted some peace and quiet but just the basics in this pretty property were not quiet there .

Book excursions through trip advisor, they are better value than the hotel. Also more choice. There are smoking areas but a lot of people were smoking on balconies. We booked a meal in the restaurant and the food and service was very good. Not sure about laundry but might be worth checking directly with the hotel.
