Bahia Principe Grand Turquesa seems to fall short of expectations for some guests, who report dissatisfaction with room conditions, noting the need for updates and repairs. Service quality is inconsistent, with reports of both inattentiveness and helpfulness. While cleanliness levels fluctuate, with some praising the upkeep and others encountering issues, the atmosphere is a blend of lively music and occasional discomfort due to language barriers. Amenities often disappoint due to unavailability and poor maintenance, contributing to a sense that the hotel does not provide good value.

Everything was wonderful, from the pool to the entertainment to the people who work there. I would recommend checking in online before you arrive at the hotel l on their app. That is a lengthy process. And try to get a room closer to the pool.. enjoy!

I wanted to start off this review stating that I have been to a number of All Inclusive hotels.

We understand that Covid has been a great impact on the hotel industry and that employees/staff are working double but I truly would have loved to see a more friendly attitude.

Only a couple of employees were actually nice and happy and made us feel comfortable.

The wifi service is terrible.
Again, due to Covid, the guests have to make their own restaurant reservations through the hotel’s website, which doesn’t really work.

I wasn’t able to make any reservations for the restaurants because of the wifi and because the website simply doesn’t work.
We approached the Lobby to ask for help. The person at the front desk didn’t want to make it for us but finally after seeing my face of frustration, he made the reservations for us.

The biggest problem for me was at the buffet.
There were employees who were not happy at all to serve food.
The selection of food at the buffet was very limited. Not much to choose from.
There was no coffee service for lunch nor dinner.
I’ve been to many All Inclusives and this is the first hotel that doesn’t offer coffee service at lunch and dinner.

Also, it would be nice to have staff at the pool bringing beverages. (Most all inclusive do)

The pool is great, very spacious and clean.
The water park is very fun for the kids.
I traveled with my 11 yr old son who loved the park and pool area in general.

The hotel grounds are beautiful.
This is a big hotel so if you want to go to the beach, you have to ride a golf car.
They pass very frequently so taking one won’t be a problem.

The check out was the fastest I’ve experienced so we were happy with that.

In general, we had a great time at the Bahia Principe Fantasia.
Hopefully this Covid situation passes soon so we can enjoy all the amenities this hotel has to offer.

Cheers!

I want to start off by saying this part of the hotel was just opening since Covid . It was not crowded at all. The pool was beautiful and the entertainment crew around pool were enthusiastic considering there weren’t many people there to do activities. Nice and friendly. Front desk people were nice however not many that spoke English so sometimes hard to communicate. There was a girl named Indiana that was extremely pleasant and very helpful and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. She deserves a special mention😃. Our room was nice however we had to ask for our sheets to be changed so maybe they don’t change the sheets usually while u are there. Also had to request towels after ours were used. They took them out but didn’t replace till we requested. Although the room was kept pretty clean could tell the toilet was not cleaned the whole time we were there.
The minibar was not very cold but they did change our refrigerator out upon request. It was not kept stocked and had to request almost every day for more beers. Also they only put soda in there no juices for kids—they said it wasn’t cold enough to hold milk. So parents I definitely would bring juices for the kids if u don’t want them drinking sodas. Also if you stay at turquesa you are not allowed to use all the buffets or the kids club in fantasia which I think is not very good. Plus we were told by security at fantasia and not very nicely that we were not allowed to be there! Our grandchild did use the mini club and the girls there were very nice but the kids club looked great. The other complaints about the mini club were the hours as they usually took a two hour break during the day 12-2 and closed at 5. We travel a lot and have been at hotels where the kids club is usually open till at least 9 so that parents can eat dinner peacefully. Also have been to hotels where the kids club took kids to eat at kids buffet. There wasn’t much food here for kids like chicken nuggets. They did have fries, The beach was nice also. Our stay was nice however the mini club did not fit our needs which both our grandchild and us were looking forward to. At least in turquesa not enough for kids to do.

Joining the club is not a cost saving. Choosing an All-Inclusive can be cheaper, as well as save you the hassle of putting a package together for yourself (finding a reasonable flight & ground transfer).

Secondly, what is claimed to be offered to club members at the time of the sales presentation, is not what you actually get. The rooms that were promised during the presentation are a far cry from the rooms we were assigned. During the tour, you are led to believe that as a club member you will be assigned to a room with specific amenities. Wrong. In terms of room assignment, there is no distinction between members and non-members. Same room.

Members Privilege: As a member, you do have some perks (if you are made aware, and/or choose to use them) like dedicated transport around the resort (not really necessary since the regular trams are pretty frequent), access to multiple hotel restaurants and use of a members’ lounge. As an example, I detail my first (and only) experience below.

Our journey to the DR from Toronto began at 1:00am. Travelled approximately 12 hours (door to door, including 3 hr pre check-in arrival at airport and short stop over in the US). We arrived at the resort at approximately 3pm (between lunch and dinner service hours), got checked in and directed to the only available food service (the beach bar) while our rooms were being prepared (party of 5, with 3 rooms). Long story short, our order was never made so our first meal for the day was dinner and one of our rooms not accessible until after dinner. Unfortunate start to our vacation, but it happens. The rest of our stay was good, sun, sand and sea in the middle of winter! Who could complain?

Where the hotel failed us: i) As guests, our rooms should have been ready before we arrived. ii) The refrigerator in our room was broken and we had to bang our door several times in order for it to close (must have been really loved by our neighbours 😬). iii) As new BPPC members on location, we were not made aware of the facilities available to club members.

Redemption: On day four of our vacation, we met Stephania who interrupted her day to make our stay better. She took us to the members’ lounge, assigned someone to fix our room issues and had a lovely bottle of champagne delivered to my room for my birthday! Thanks Stephania!

Note: We were told she is IT, not CS (imagine that!).

The hotel is beautiful but unfortunately if you are not a “privilege guest” at Turquesa you will be told “NO” a lot!

No you are not allowed to eat at any of the buffets on the property except Punta Cana (Turquesa only has one buffet with very limited hours). Yet, you are ONLY allowed to make 2 dinner reservations at the restaurants for a stay of 5 nights and 6 days!

No, you are not allowed to sit in the “unoccupied” chairs available on the beach if you are not a privilege member or stay at Ambar. We ended up sitting in the sand where they have the boats enter and leave for the overpriced excursions. Not very pleasant.

No, you are not allowed to swim at the Turquesa pool past 5:30 pm, as the pool and pool bar close at that time daily.

Oh yeah, you will be served extremely watered down “alcoholic” drinks.

They try to upsale you to be a “privilege” member the entire time of your stay.

Check your receipt upon checkout as you may find incidentals that you did not purchase.

Bottom line, I won’t be returning.

I’m giving this resort 2 stars solely because of the spacious rooms, beautiful pool, and lovely beach, which my boys thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, our overall experience was marred by subpar food and shockingly poor customer service. The food quality deserves only 1 star, and the customer service was abysmal. Every interaction with guest services felt like I was a burden to them, no matter how small my request.

One particularly disappointing incident involved housekeeping, which left our bathroom uncleaned, stripped the beds, and failed to provide blankets until I had to call and request them. Additionally, my son was yelled at by a lifeguard, leaving him scared and upset. Being an international resort, I expected better language support, but very few staff members spoke English, so my son couldn’t understand what was being shouted at him. This level of service is unacceptable and greatly diminished our stay. I will never book at this property again.

Terrible business ethics and customer service. This resort is all about $ and not about creating a good experience for their guests. Neither do they seem to care about return clients. We were there in December 2023 and booked this specific hotel within the resort due to it's waterpark and zipline park. We have 2 kids that were very excited to play on those 2 attractions. When we arrived, we found that BOTH the waterpark and the zipline park were out of service. Not recently either. The attendant at the entertainment desk told us the zip park had been closed for close to 5 years and the waterpark was closed for renovations. Of course, the hotel had not bothered to disclose this information at time of booking. They were still advertising both these activities on their page. When we approached management about this, they did nothing other than to try to get us to spend another $60/day to use the waterpark in Fantasia. They didn't even have the courtesy to offer that for free as a goodwill gesture to remedy their false advertising and their lack of providing amenities that we had paid for. They also gave me a form to fill out to file an official complaint but as I expected, that was a complete waste of time (never heard anything from it) as I'm sure it went straight into the trash. Upon our return home, I wrote a complaint email and a review on another site and all I was met with from Bahia was an apology ending with a "hopefully you'll have a better experience next time" type of statement. Next time?!?! Hahaha. With this type of customer service?!?! You've got to be kidding? No attempt to compensate us (we talked to the company we booked this through and they said the hotel should compensate us for this in some form of credit at the very least) for the fact that all the main activities on your resort were closed and you still had the audacity to charge full price and NOT tell us? Rest assured, there won't be a next time. We'll be taking our annual vacation elsewhere next time. PS. if you look at all the bad reviews, they are all related to this company's poor management, business ethics and customer service when something goes wrong.

I’m not sure why there are a lot of negative reviews for Turquesa property…but we had a wonderful time! There are about 6-7 Bahía resorts in this property and they’re all bigger and busier with different privileges /access. Turquesa was smaller in scale and quieter, which we preferred since you can go to the other resort for shows/entertainment. I was concerned about the distance to the beach but the shuttles were very quick. Getting beach loungers was a bit of a challenge since all the resorts share this beach and people put their towels on it all day whether they use it or not. Got the staff in yellow shirts to find us 5 loungers and just tipped them, and they were very helpful. Food was great…lots of options at the buffet and some a la carte restaurants were very good. Didn’t really like the Italian restaurant but liked the Brazilian grill and Seafood restaurants the best. Reserve these as soon as possible at the kiosk in lobby as other resorts book same a la carte. We reserved times for tennis and pickleball every morning before beach or pool time. Not in best condition as expected from the heat, but they had 2 tennis and 1 pickleball courts. This resort is close to water park for kids, which is convenient. Rooms were very spacious and clean. If you’re looking for newer rooms and grandeur / busier lobby or more luxury feel, opt to other Bahia properties and pay a premium. I found this resort to be budget friendly and we had a fantastic time. Staff are friendly and helpful. I don’t know why travelers expect all staff to speak English. You’re going to another country…perhaps learn some Spanish??

The beach is one of the most beautiful we have visited. The rooms are fair, a little outdated and our two rooms were mosquito infested. The food is fair, mostly cold at the buffet and the ice-cream was half melted. I was bummed that they only allow you to go the three of the premium restaurants, so you are forced to go to the same buffet most of the meals. The premium restaurants had great food and it was hot. The steak restaurant was the best. The main pool is beautiful and easy to find a seat in the shade however the beach was crowded and you had to reserve seats early or you would not be in the shade. Overall we had a fun trip with the family but I would look for a better all inclusive resort for next time.

We booked this specific hotel in the complex for the family amenities. 3 days in and the waterpark is still closed for renos. This was not mentioned when we booked nor did we get a discount for this very large missing piece. I spoke with someone at the front asking if we could at least get a waterpark access to Fantasia, the other hotel with a waterpark within the same complex ( I feel this was not an unreasonable request as they are in breach of the contract we made in not providing us with a waterpark that we paid for). Their answer: yes, for a fee. The discount for our troubles $10/ day leaving us to pay $60usd per day to have access to a waterpark within the same complex to replace the one that should have been included in what we paid for to begin with. I was told the waterpark at turquesa would be open within 48hrs at which point all I asked for was to at least have access to the other water until it was open. Again, I’m trying to be reasonable as I understand things need maintenance but again, the answer was: yes, for a $60usd/day fee. The employee can’t be to blame as he tried but the company Bahia Principe clearly has some integrity issues and has no issue with breaching a legal commitment to their clients. We met 3 other families that came here for the same reasons, paid full rate and ended up in the same boat as us. They will also surely be leaving a similar review after their stay here. We have stayed at the bahia group hotel on two other vacations (different locations) and are truly disappointed with this lack of customer empathy. This will unfortunately be our last bahia stay for our future annual vacations
