I stayed here twice for 2 days at the start and finish of a touring holiday. The hotel has an excellent location and still retains a sense of grandeur from its early days. Some rooms have excellent views and are clean, bright and airy - others much less so. I did not experience some of the problems noted in other reviews about torn curtains, thin and worn towels and lack of hot water in the bathroom, but it is fair to say that much of the hotel is in need of repair and redecoration.
Breakfast was adequate, and fortunately is essentially self-service as it takes forever be served with coffee. I did not have dinner in the hotel as the restaurant and menu were unexciting and there are many excellent alternatives within 15 minutes walk. The courtyard bar is attractive and has a succession of live music groups performing at intervals during the afternoon and evening, many of them good.
Service on the whole is erratic, often slow (despite apparently high staffing levels) and almost invariably unsmiling.
Having said all this, and now having stayed in 10 hotels in Cuba over 3 weeks, many of these problems are endemic, so, FOR CUBA, Hotel Sevilla is pretty good. But by standards in Europe or N America is 3-star max.

This beautiful colonial hotel in La Habana Vieja is lovely, The tall ceilings and tile work everywhere are reminiscent of days past. The location could not be better to explore fascinating Havana. It is located at the Paseo di Marti where on some nights there are couples dancing. The staff could not be friendlier. The breakfast room is also lovely and the food good and fresh. The only small hic on our departure day was lack of hot water in the shower (but that happens in the Caribbean). Music in the lobby bar was fun. We'd return,

The poshest accommodation of our stay in Cuba, being a traditional fin-de-siècle hotel once favoured by the likes of Al Capone, Graham Greene and Enrico Caruso. The enormous (and draughty – the terrace bar is open to the sky) lobby is decorated in Moorish style, as is the front elevation. It has what is reputed to be one of the best swimming pools in Havana and is in an enviable position just off the Prado and minutes from La Floridita and Parque Central. Our room (609) could almost be described as a suite and was surely two smaller rooms knocked into one. The door opened into an office / second bedroom with a desk and comfortable chairs and a divan / single bed. The rooms were tastefully decorated in pale primrose, but the bathroom fittings were a bit antiquated and we did have some trouble with the toilet flush mechanism (we think that the chambermaid blocked it with paper). An outstanding feature of the bathroom was its large mirror which gave a wonderful view through the window reflected behind. Breakfast was better than average for Cuba.

This Hotel is historic and in its day would have been lovely. However, we don’t feel anything has been maintained since it’s been built.
We wanted to purchase a wi-fi card 1CUC for 1 hour - the system was down.
Our first room was very small, the curtains broken and unable to close, one small window basically looking into the next room and an extremely run down bathroom with minimal water pressure, mildew, dripping taps and paint peeling.
Our second room was larger, three opening windows, curtains which didn’t close, no air conditioning, a very run down bathroom and when I used the hairdryer on the bathroom wall it shorted the power.
The lifts are obviously not maintained regularly as we were stuck in one for sometime on NYE.
The breakfast area on the 9th floor has quite a nice outlook, the food is average, the area, tablecloths, crockery etc is dirty/unclean, chipped and in need of some major repairs/changes.
The bar/restaurant downstairs in the Lobby is very expensive for Havana and the live music, although good, can be exceptionally loud.
The pool area is very run down and in urgent need of some maintenance. Their marketing photos have obviously been “photoshopped”. The bathroom facilities around the pool are seriously disgusting.....some toilets with no doors and none of the toilets flushed, there was a bucket provided to pour water down the toilet. No toilet paper, soap or hand towel 😝
This Hotel is in a great location, however, is grossly overpriced, run down and extremely disappointing.
I didn’t take any photos of our rooms, I only took photos to create good memories 😊

The hotel obviously had a glamorous past and is in a great position but it needs complete refurbishment. As I checked in in the wee small hours of the morning after 24 hours of flying, I would have appreciated a friendly welcome. Instead I was greeted by a frown, absolute disinterest, an attitude that I was a nuisance, couldn’t be bothered answering my questions and eventually shown to a room that was filthy, lights didn’t work and no hot water when I was desperate for a shower. I wonder what the receptionist thought she was there for? I was led to a different room which took ages. I was absolutely parched with thirst and asked the barman for a glass of water while I waited for a room change. I was told I had to buy it! What! A glass of water! This is appalling service for guests. I’ve been to Cuba several times and I have now decided I won’t be returning. I’ve had enough. The service and attitude never improves. They have no idea about service and they dont care. I must say a couple of the staff were nice and helpful and girls cleaning my room were efficient and friendly.

The airport is a miserable experience. Dozens of female staff looking angry and officious doing nothing and don’t speak English. How can you work in an international airport and not speak English?

It appears that all hotels in Havana are charging ridiculous prices because they’re state owned and they are ripping off tourists. Stay in a casa particular instead. Or better still go to a different country and be more comfortable. Cuba is a state of deprivation and getting worse. The food is awful and I didn’t have one decent meal and got stomach problems. The music is great. That’s about all I can say.

We stayed here in December for 3 nights. Our room was dusty and smelt very musty.
The curtains had broken away from their rail. They were old, uneven and dirty. The windows were filthy and splattered with paint. The mini bar was empty but plugged in, nevertheless! The paint on the bathroom door had blistered with damp and the bath/shower sealant was heavily mildewed.
The towels were old, thin and grey.
We asked to change our room and had to wait 1 night. The alternative room was slightly better in that there was less mildew in the bathroom.
The staff were sullen and unhelpful. The food in the Lobby bar is awful and our server got the order totally wrong. No apology and another long wait for the corrected order to arrive.
The whole hotel felt hostile. There isn't any ambience in the Lobby, apart from a good band one evening.
This hotel is in serious need of total refurbishment and the staff need training and motivating.
There are lots of hotels in Havana, both Central and Old Havana.
Stay in one of them - anywhere except here.

Wonderful old hotel in a very central location within easy walking distance of many sites. Our room was very comfortable with lovely original furnishings. High ceilings and a large window that opened to the bustling street. The dining room where breakfast was served was very lovely and the extensive buffet had lots of variety. There is a nice pool area with a bar as well as a courtyard bar that had live music. The art gallery and military museum are right across the street.

Although the reception area of this hotel is authentic and pretty, our room was awful. The room was very tired and lacking in basic facilities. The windows had been screwed shut as they leaked water when it rained. After it rained all night we woke up to a huge puddle of water beside the bed and my suitcase full of clothes was soaked through. The breakfast experience wasn't much better - staff unhelpful and not interested in serving people. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Stayed here for 3 nights, pleasant reception staff and good bellboy taking the bags to room, Room was a bit on the small side and bathroom could have done with upgrading, but this hotel is 112 years old. Often frequented by Al Copone and other gangsters. Lift took for ages, but you can find that in modern hotels also. Breakfast was OK but even though is was Cuba did expect to have butter for your toast. The terrace bar inside and outside was excellent lovely friendly staff serving you drinks and or food and live music in the afternoons and in the evenings, this was excellent on our first night a man was doing Cuban dancing, which couldn't have started the holiday off better, as I am big dance fan. Other bands followed with dancers of various types. Glad we picked this hotel as it gave a great insight into our first visit to Havana. Much better than a modern hotel it had so much character. Apparently the 1st hotel in Havana to have a swimming pool, although we didn't have tome to use it looked very good. Would recommend.

We had a brilliant time staying here on our short stop in Havana. There was a lot of attention to detail and the staff were very attentive. We are travelling as part of our honeymoon and were given a beautiful room with a stunning view and surprised with a bottle of sparkling wine.

The staff were all very welcoming and really helpful during our first trip to Cuba.

Rooms are clean, bar is good, and location is perfect. The hotel itself is beautiful and seems well looked after.

Thanks for a great stay!
