Hotel's Favourite
As my followers know, we're travelers and not just vacationers. This location is really not properly called a "resort" in our view because it has no restaurants, watersports or all the superfluous offerings of the all-inclusives, like the huge Sandals complex right next door. What it does offer, however, is simple comfort, cleanliness and a fantastic home base to explore this wonderful country. Upon arrival late Sunday afternoon we were met by friendly and accommodating staff, both front desk and security. Ushered to our studio, we found it bright, spacious (including kitchenette) and clean. It was housecleaned every day. The grounds are extremely well-tended and make for picture perfect aspects everywhere. There are beach chairs and tables on the small beach from which you can watch the magnificent sunsets in the evening. And that's the true beauty of this place: its site and situation. Dickenson and the near contiguous Runaway Bays are not just the longest beaches on the island, so conducive to walking, but they are situated well away from the frenetic St John's area but still close to several excellent restaurants (see my reviews of Bella Vita, Casa Roots, Ana's and Putter's Grill). Even better, it's the best point of departure to the rest of the island because you can largely avoid St John's traffic. Antigua is a wonderful destination for many other reasons and, for our money this resort for our stay was ideal.

I'm adding to an earlier review , we booked the Antigua Village through Airbnb our 1st venture into that area of the travel/vacation industry , sadly we will think about it next time as the village was a great place ,staff ,location ,bars ,beach weather , we had problems as soon as we arrived , didn't seem to be the same room a that I had booked 6 months previously , paid for a recently refurbished room , but looked a bit beaten up I tried to get hold of the Host who had no probs building himself up on the website as very approachable onsite at all time - not !!! Took 2 days to get a better room still not the room I paid a lot of money for , if I wasn't for the Village staff we wouldn't have got very far , another 4 days to get the room I had paid for , still no apology from the Super Host , managed to pin him down finally in his on site office , he offered us 2 nights free for another visit laughable , then had the cheek to get us to leave the room a day earlier than I had booked , this pushed us over the edge , I had a meeting with the village resort manager a lovely lady called Julia , she did more for us on our last 2 days , she told us to keep our receipts for all our meals drinks/ cocktails , sunbeds she also got a refund from the Host , which is what the Host should of done himself . We had a great time apart from the room issues . Well done to all the Antigua management and staff . Shame you have to put up with somebody running his fathers business into the ground . Putting the village in a bit of a bad way even though it was nothing to do with the Village Team

We stayed at Antigua Village during our second week in Antigua in November 2021. After a week in English Harbour, we thought we would check out the north of the island & Antigua village offered good value for money, so we thought we would try it out.

I did email the property beforehand asking if possible that we could have a newly refurbished room (as I read they vary quite a bit in decor) & true to their word we had a fairly modern studio room with a kitchen.

For the money paid we were more than happy with our room (which was larger than the room we had in English Harbour which also cost more). It was bright & airy and the kitchen was great since we could store drinks in the fridge, make breakfast & lunch at 'home' and still head out for dinner in the evenings (Anas on the Beach & Salt Plage are both within easy walking distance).

The balcony was also nice to sit with a drink in the evenings overlooking the pool. Speaking of which, the pool area is very nice & the gardens are immaculate & we spent most of our down time around the pool as it was quiet & relaxing.

The staff at reception, security & all the grounds people were also very friendly & helpful!

As some others have mentioned the only slight potential downside, in case it bothers anyone, is that the Sandals hotel next door can be quite noisy in the evenings, but it tends to quiet down after 10pm so if you go out for dinner it's no biggie as it will have generally quietened down by the time you get back.

During the day it is very quiet however. It wasn't a problem for us & certainly isn't the Antigua Villages fault, but if this kind of thing bothers you or you are a family with young children who go to bed early, it is worth bearing in mind.

The only other slight issue is the curtains in our particular room were very thin or just not their at all in the case of the kitchen window, which meant daylight can wake you up around 6am. Being a bit old before my time I sleep with an eye mask anyway lol, so for me it wasn't an issue, but again something to be aware of.

All in all though we had a great stay & having a car for the duration was fantastic as we could easily pop to the local supermarket down the road, St Johns or to any of the lovely beaches around the island. We would certainly stay at Antigua Village again!

Dear Wunderlust, I am sorry to have missed your review. Please forgive my delayed response. We appreciate your feedback, and we are also happy that you had an enjoyable stay overall. We do hope that you return to our beautiful island of Antigua and to the Village. I will make sure you have black out curtains for that extra vacation sleep! The neighbours have been musically disruptive on occasion, but that has now significantly improved. We remain a place of relaxation and safety. We are an email away for your next trip. warmest regards from all of us here, Gina

Really nice resort 20 minutes from the airport. Our villa was right on the beach, beach is stunning and the water calm. The resort has beautifully maintained grounds and a restaurant and bar right next door. Laundry facility on site and also a small shop that sells a few bits like water, beer, wine, coffee etc you couldn’t do a full shop there but it was handy for bits.
The epicurean was about a 10min drive and has everything you need and more.

Pool area was lovely always plenty of beds, most days we had the pool to ourselves.

Good value for money, great location if you want the beach and tranquil waters.

2 restaurants one either side Salt Plage was lovely friendly staff, nice cocktails and happy hour 4:30. Food was tasty, nice atmosphere and right on the beach. Starfish was the bar joined to the restaurant and served lovely food during the day, great place for lunch.

Anas on the beach was located at the other side, the food was nice but the service wasn’t great, staff weren’t really helpful or even friendly put us off a bit. First visit we waited a good 10-15 minutes just to get the menu, no one really came to check if we were ok or needed anything didn’t even get a smile. Tried a second time thinking maybe just having a bad day but got the same again.

Car hire is a good idea as most places are quite spread out and not really in walking distance, taxis charge per person rather than by the journey so if you want to visit other places definitely invest in hiring will save you loads in the long run. Driving is the same as driving in the UK and the potholes aren’t as bad as people say, especially if you’re from the UK! Pretty standard.

We booked a room on Air BNB back in June to go end of November. Two days prior to our departure we get an email saying they had scheduling issues and our room is not available. We asked for another room. They sent pictures of another room and the room was dated, dark and dreary and not on the beach. We had originally booked beachfront. I noticed there were a couple of newly renovated rooms available on Air BNB. When we asked if we could have one of those, we got message from Air BNB saying they were cancelling our reservation. This is very unprofessional. We had already booked flight’s and excursions. I told them I was not able to cancel at this time. Moments later they took down the postings for rooms on the Air BNB website and their own website. This left us scrambling to find new accommodations 2 days before our departure. Warning this looks like a bait and switch scam. They show you a nice room on the beach on Air BNB and then the switch to an older room. There were a couple other reviews on Air BNB saying when they got there the room they originally booked is no longer available.

Dear Craig, I am sorry to read of your experience. This rental as you did mention was a private Air BNB and thus I am unable to address the Air BNB challenges with your booking and agent for this particular accommodations. We, at Antigua Village Condominium Resort do wish you a prosperous 2022 and extend an invitation to you to book directly with us if you plan on returning to Antigua. We will do our best to accommodate you according to your needs or request and will offer the best rate possible at the time of your booking. We do have some lovely rooms and views and the property is right on along the beach front of Dickenson Bay. Once again, it is most regrettable that you did not experience the best of the Village. Do email us at avreception@candw.ag or gm@antiguavillage.com as we would welcome the opportunity to have you at the Village and experience an enjoyable stay . best regards, Gina

We were delighted with our choice of the Antigua Village. The complex is well maintained with beautiful gardens and an excellent pool area which was very quiet. This is perhaps because it is right on the beach which has plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. There are two excellent restaurants and bars within five minutes or less walk (Ana’s and Salt Plage) and a couple of others not much farther away (Putters which is basic but fine and the really splendid Casa Roots for that special meal). It is 15 minutes from the airport and the beachfront location is superb. The beach is shared with a Sandals resort but the proximity proved not to be a problem from a noise point of view. Our apartment was spacious with a great expansive balcony overlooking the sea. Fittings were slightly dated but overall we loved the place and although some updating would be advisable it didn’t detract from our stay. These are privately owned units so that sort of thing will vary. All the important things were there including a Super King bed and powerful shower. Staff were all super helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend the Antigua Beach. It is excellent value for money and we had a great time!

Recently stayed here in May 2022 with our family. The location of the condo was directly on the beach and we had breathtaking views every morning and night. Security guards made us feel safe and the condo was very well kept and clean. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Wow! We had a fantastic trip at this lovely resort. I'm hesitant to even write this review as this is such a hidden gem!

We came in with pretty low expectations because we were on a timeshare exchange and had read other reviews about the units, but I wanted to write this to provide a different opinion. Yes, the units are older, but they are spacious, clean, and had everything we needed with updated furniture - comfortable bed as well. The grounds are beautiful and so well maintained.

The beach is spectacular - and convenient to all villas. The access to two adjacent restaurants, plus a few Caribbean food shacks past Siboney Beach Club to the left, was perfect for convenient drinks and meals. My husband had to work a few days of our trip, and the wifi was strong and reached to the beach so he could still sit and enjoy the view.

The staff is so helpful, and everyone we have met has been incredibly nice - down to the taxi drivers who service the area.

If you want a nice, safe, quiet, relaxing vacation, this is the place to be. We will certainly be back!

My wife and I have been coming to Antigua Village since 1987. This is possibly our 20th or 21st trip here. The location could not be better. It’s only a 10 minute drive into the city of Saint Johns. There are many restaurants within a short taxi drive from here. The beach is so walkable and so pleasurable that I get plenty of daily exercise. The management here at Antigua Village improves every year and as an example of that. On the second day here we put some bagels in the toaster and they burnt and the Mr. coffee, coffee maker. brewed coffee, but there was no light to indicate whether was on or off. We mentioned these two things to our maid Amber today, and within two hours there was a knock at the door, and there was a brand new toaster, and a brand new coffee maker ; this is the definition of good service The gardens have always been impeccably kept; the units are cleaned daily. Any complaints and any bad reviews you see come from people who rent a timeshare which are not managed by Antigua Village. Always book through the Antigua Village office and make certain you are getting a unit that is part of the Antigua Village Rental Program and not a time share.

My mom and I booked our holiday getaway to Antigua 3 years ago, however due to COVID we cancelled 2 x...We finally arrived to a beautiful updated 1 bedroom suite with a lovely patio with outsanding views. Everything we needed to enjoy our home away from home beach holiday was provided by the owners of our unit. Everyday we enjoyed walking the manicured landscaped property, we loved sitting by the lovely refreshing pool and on the beach. The airport, St. John's and grocery stores were close by as were many nice restaurants. But best of all were the wonderful kind, helpful staff and the beautiful sunsets we enjoyed every night! We look forward to returning again next year!
